Gene Okerlund: "Alright, ladies and gentlemen, back here on Monday Nitro on TNT, and what a night it has been thus far. It has become a ritual on monday nights across America, as we get into the shades of the evening, for me to have a little discussion with my guest at this time, former thirteen time WCW Heavyweight Champion of the World, the Nature Boy Ric Flair! [Ric Flair kommt, begleitet von seinem Theme, zum Ring] Ric Flair, this may sound a little anticlimactic, but I wanna welcome you home!"

Ric Flair: "Mean! Woo! Gene! We, tonight, are in Atlanta, GA, baby! And we are live and on fire. Woo!"

Gene Okerlund: "Ric Flair, these are your people, can you share with us some of your thoughts that's happened after the past eight or ten days in the position of World Championship Wrestling as we enter 1998?"

Ric Flair: "Well, just making an observation, and happy new year, everybody, it's nice to know, that without the NWO the WCW can stand on its own two feet. Stinger, you're the Champ, god bless you, but baby, that belt's red hot and you got everybody looking at it, including a gentleman who's name has rubbed me the wrong way for several months, and I want to ask the wrestling world tonight how a guy like Bret Hart--I mean, I respect his bloodline, his family, the heritage, but how does a guy like Bret Hart call himself the best when the Nature Boy is on the ticker? I take exception to that, Gene."

Gene Okerlund: "You take issue with it?"

Ric Flair: "I take issue, and I--"

[Bret Harts Theme ertönt]

Gene Okerlund: "Wait a minute. I know that music. You may not have to take issue very long, you can tell it to the man face to face, if who shows up who I think's gonna show up, [Bret Hart erscheint und kommt zum Ring] Bret Hart! Oh my! Oh my goodness! You lit a fire under this man and perhaps under the set back there the way things look right now [Okerlund bezieht sich hier auf Harts Pyro]. Now maybe we can continue this conversation face to face. [Hart und Flair schütteln sich die Hände] How about that? With a handshake, that makes me a little eerie right there."

Ric Flair: "Don't let it make you eerie, it's just a token gesture from one WCW combatant to another. You know, Bret, I heard your Learjet was late, but brother, I'm glad you made it, because we got 30.000 people here live, about 40 million on the monitor right now, and they all wanna hear you say that little thing that you say about yourself with me standing in the same ring."

Gene Okerlund: "Interesting."

Bret Hart: "What little thing?"

Ric Flair: "That thing about yesterday and tomorrow, and here and gone, the one where you refer to yourself--you know what I'm talking about."

Bret Hart: "Now, you're not talking about that little thing about being the best there is, being the best that there was, and being the best that there ever will be, is that the one you're talking about?"

Gene Okerlund: "Is that what you were looking for?"

Bret Hart: "There's a little part I wanna add on to the end of it. I wanna go "Woo!" at the end of it."

Ric Flair: "That's pretty good. Now, let me ask you a little question, can I? I know that you're a big time columnist and I know that in Canada, you might be a big deal, Jack, but we're in Atlanta, GA, we're in United States, and I probably am the finest example of premium USA manhood there is, say that one more time with the Nature Boy standing here!"

Bret Hart: "I am the best that there is, was and ever will be, and if you got a problem with it, too bad."

Ric Flair: "It's a new year. I'm gonna let you, one more time, say, you might think you're better than Harley Race, Jack Brisco, Dory Funk Jr., Gene Kiniski, anybody else you wanna list that's in the record books, but you in your heart, and let's take all the comedy out of this, in your heart you couldn't possibly think, no pun intended, that you are a better performer in this sport than I am."

Gene Okerlund: "Guys, maybe we can take this back--"

Ric Flair: "I want you--you know, we all fess up, brother, I'm not saying I'm what I was ten years ago, ten years ago I could go out there with a broom, now I gotta have someone that's got a heart beating, buddy. But today I'm telling you that I gotta hear you say it, I'm wanna cut all the crap out, take all the humor out of this situation. If you think you're better than me, I wanna hear you say it, don't talk about everybody else. You say I'm better than you, Ric Flair, if you believe that in your heart.

[Bret Hart zieht seine Jacke aus]

Gene Okerlund: "No, no, wait a minute, gentlemen, save it for some other time, we're running out of--the clock is winding down--"

Bret Hart: "Listen, to be the man, you gotta beat the man. And I think I've already done that once before, but if you got some kinda problem with me saying that I'm the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, just do something about it, that's all."

Ric Flair: "Well, I wanna tell you, and they can wrap it, buddy, you're gonna have to show me again and hope you don't get hurt along the way, daddy."

Gene Okerlund: "Hey, wait a minute, guys, please, hey hey hey! Not here!"

[Bret Hart will den Ring verlassen, Flair hält ihn auf]

Ric Flair: "Nobody heard you say anything. I'm gonna have to see it again. Thirteen times, five times, you've got a ways to go, man."

[Okerlund schließt die Show ab und beide Männer verlassen den Ring]
