1227.07.2023winkarningis6.0Good match but not on par with their classics from the 2 previous years. Kushida was the star of this match for me and I never clicked with will here so that plays a role on why it was not as enjoyable as expected. But since both of them are excellent talents they still managed to produce an enjoyable match.

2021.01.2023Mizzle Assault Ant7.0These two had big matches in 2016 and 2017 that I was really into at the time, so despite my loss of interest in Ospreay I was curious how this one would come out. KUSHIDA looked amazing as usual, I am so tremendously impressed by the guy. Definitely one of my favorite NJPW guys of the past decade, I'd take him over a lot of the more favored names to be honest. His lightning speed and top tier technical and submission wrestling draws me in every time, not to mention his killer punch. On Ospreay's side, well, I'm just not as taken with his work as I used to be, despite admittedly being extremely athletic he just doesn't draw me in anymore. Even so, this was a good match that I enjoyed.

3205.11.2021TheLegitBoss9.0Another fabulous match between Ospreay and Kushida as every time these guys clash as I feel they make it their mission to dazzle us every time, what I like about their saga is that even if they sometimes take spots they have already done together well they still try to innovate by offering us different structures from their previous encounters. And while this one wasn't the best of those encounters, it was definitely a solid one for our absolute pleasure and I'll never get tired of watching them in action against each other because they have an absolutely tremendous chemistry. I found this one particularly different from the others because it was worked in a different way, sure you have your typical smooth Ospreay/Kushida sequences but the psychology was emphasized on Kushida working Ospreay's arm and it was so damn cool.

3416.07.2021Judestar9.0These two always have fantastic matches together, and this was a great way to end the feud with Ospreay needing to bust a new finisher to put KUSHIDA away. KUSHIDA going full dickhead by the end was so good ****1/2.

4131.07.2020The Beholder10.0Don't get me wrong, there are several things I don't love about this match, but they more than make up for the flaws. The selling is almost too good. Ospreay sold the arm so well all match long that it almost didn't seem realistic that he didn't tap later in the match. There were 2 monstrous DDT spots that picked up the intensity leading to a brilliantly emotional and intense ending. Wonderful match even despite its minor flaws. ****3/4

5908.01.2019RatingsMachine8.0Whilst this was a great match, I don't think KUSHIDA and Osprey's styles mesh in a way that lends itself to having something better. Again, a great match, but I think 'great' is the ceiling for these two in a singles match.
6004.01.20197OEA79.09. 0/10 - #10 Best of 2018 : OH. MY. GOODNESS. These two tore the house down like it was their mission. Easily the best match of the night. This year, I have been finding myself to favor Jr. Heavyweight matches way over the heavyweight ones. I don't know why but the juniors are winning me over by a landslide, and this match further proves why. They go out there and they try to shatter our expectations to the max, no rest, no pause, no frills, bell-to-bell mesmerizing wrestling. This match featured some very crazy-looking spots, but they didn't stop there, the match also had a very clear and palpable story. The selling made it look legit (other than the unexplainable springs of energy Ospreay gets). Juniors for another excellent match down the history books !

6617.10.2018PUNQ7.0Will Ospreay (c) -vs- KUSHIDA - (IWGP Junior Title) [*** 1/2] Amazing moments, but not too big a fan of how they spent the time in between killing each other. That's an era modern wrestlers can learn from old school wrestling. They way they do it these days it doesn't feel like they're staling to recover. Apart from the neck issues they're just bending over catching their breath and it gets frustrating in that "why isn't he attacking" way. Feels like forever for any aggression to come. But when it did, "Oh My God! " it was killer! Only a matter of time before Ospreay doesn't need to sell the neck as it will be legit broken.

7030.08.2018Ranch DuBois9.0Ospreay and KUSHIDA have such great chemistry, and it led to a fantastic match here. They didn't go all out kill each other mode like their 2017 BoSJ match, but they put on a great physical contest. ****1/4

7801.07.2018MatteoMerdok7.0I went *** 3/4 stars out of five on this match. KUSHIDA was extra aggressive with the limb work in this match and Ospreay did a good job of selling the pain. Ospreay continues to be one of the best workers of the year.

8014.06.2018GulakBusick10.0The match that finally made me like Will Ospreay. There were hints in his match with Scurll at Sakura Genesis but his irritating traits were still on show and the match fell apart in the last 5-10 minutes. This one rocked, though. KUSHIDA was a brutal dickhead, Ospreay sold great and his fight back, while not perfect, was very well done. A fantastic match.

8304.06.2018TeoK029.0God, Ospreay's been on a roll since he won the title and this one was no exception. Of course it didn't hurt that he was facing arguably the best junior heavyweight of his generation. Speaking of whom, it was great seeing KUSHIDA since it has been a long time since he's had a proper singles match. The contest was pretty much everything you would hope from these two. Great cruiserweight wrestling, with slick counters, high flying action, crisp submission work and some impressive, memorable spots. Just a tremendous match. ****1/2

8823.05.2018GoldLiger8.0Ospreay has been a hit or miss guy with me for a long time. Unlike Scurll who was fantastic early in his Villain days but regressed over time or ZSJ who I thought was an overrated technical wanker until he started putting everything together, Will has always flip-flopped between wonderful and awful and everything in-between. Here, I'm happy to say, he did a very good job. I think he's at his best when he's working this Japanese-influenced style he has against the NJPW talent or that he transcribes to the occasional RevPro match, and I think KUSHIDA is a guy that brings out some of the best in him. KUSH worked the arm magnificently in this match, finding so many opportunities to attack it from almost every situation. Will sold it like death for most of the match without going too overboard with it, and I liked how it came into play at times other than it being worked on, like the lucha sequence where Will threw KUSHIDA up and his arm gave out, leaving the latter to fall flat on his face to the mat. I don't see the MOTYC vibes people seem to here, but man this was really nice. I liked this a little more than the main event because it didn't have 10 minutes of dead air; this match was paced like how a main event should be paced. ****
8921.05.2018marexcel9.0Ach, Will! Unmenschliche Workrate mal wieder.
