122.04.2024jisnothere8.0Progress have done an excellent job of mixing the best in British wrestling with foreign talents . Their product has grown and become one of the best styles of wrestling in Europe over the past few years

1019.10.2023Zlatkii7.0Never been a consistent viewer of PROGRESS programming, but have watched stuff here and there on WWE Network, mostly BEST OF compilations. From one wrestler to the next, I have seen some absolute bangers in my viewings (but also a few misses). WALTER, Ilja Dragunov, Tyler Bate, Cara Noir , & Timothy Thatcher have performed excitingly in a large array of contests. Multi-man, singles, tag, PROGRESS does it all. I really believe that this promotion has very high highs, but lows are pretty strangely constant, especially with overbooking in their match finishes and at times nonsensical creations of shows. Like, one show will be action-packed with must-see matches (title matches, feud blow-offs), and other shows seem more like television booking where things build rather than end - that makes some shows have almost no hype behind them, and sometimes do not deliver. But, from what I have seen, overall? PROGRESS is pretty great, I just wish they could tie things up a bit better, but the quality of wrestling is always there since the beginning. The all-time roster is a true who is who of world-class talent in the present day. I also can say a handful of PROGRESS matches would be a 10/10 for me. After seeing enough good things, my next step with PROGRESS was subscribing to their on-demand services - DEMAND-PROGRESS with Pivotshare, and now DEMAND PROGRESS PLUS on their own website - and I have been mostly entertained with full shows. Like I mentioned, never been a consistent fan of PROGRESS, but I have been pleasantly surprised with their output in 2023. They use social media really well, have have great talents and good wrestling, and their production is top-notch. Great video packages, great filming, serviceable commentary & hosting + insanely engrossing crowd interaction. No real criticisms apart from what I have already mentioned. They are just a promotion delivering good-quality wrestling on a regular basis. Like another comment mentions, I think I am all in on PROGRESS. Shout-out them for being bangin' for quite a number of years.

1803.12.2022BadAssTranslateTrading6.0At one point, they were one of the most well known and popular promotions in the UK, arguably at the forefront of the mid-late 10s British indie wrestling boom, but as others have said, partnering with WWE and the speaking out movement have torn the promotion down to a shell of what it once was. There are still talented wrestlers in the promotion like Chuck Mambo, Big Damo, Man Like Derreis, etc, however sadly they lost a lot of their former star power and it also seems like they lost a lot of the love they once had after the WWE deal and the details of the horrible backstage behaviour and degenerates throughout the roster at their peak that came out during speaking out. Perhaps one day they might be able to drum up some of the popularity they once had, though, unlike Rev Pro, who had their New Japan deal to fall back on, i dont see that happening any time soon sadly.

2314.08.2022respect-wres8.0Lost A LOT of momentum after WWE sucked a lot of life out of the promotion and was also hit hard by the #speaking_out movement, which means that many guys in the back broke PROGRESSs one rule... that of not being a dock (and a sexual predator). Apart from that, it gave me some of my best moments as a wrestling fan. In my teenage years I grew up with PWG, BEYOND and PROGRESS being my favorite promotions. The 2014-2018 PROGRESS era was something special, it truly was. Then in about 2020 they were kind of destroyed. It seems that they are slowly building back up. Not what they used to be, dont know if they will ever manage to do that, but I can respect the work being put in.

2703.04.2022NakazawaNumberOne4.0Like others in a similar position, really lost a lot of good will with the WWE deal, then lost all momentum after the pandemic. Seem to be going in a different direction with Gresham as champ; let's see if this brings them back to their initial heights
2831.01.2022SuperNaturalX10.0Easily one of the best promotions in the world today. A solid hardworking roster that has been working well without fans for 2 years. Ownership problems are hopefully behind them, now they can show the "big" promotions how to do a proper wrestling show.
2908.01.2022SZ19892.0Even at their height, I found PROGRESS almost unwatchable. It was like a bad British version of PWG. Everything was marked out to the extreme and the fan service was screaming at you in the face. Not to mention the toxic roster they fostered and the backstage behavior they often ignored. In the ring, a lot of the stuff was just a coordinated set of moves but you did get great main events from time to time like WALTER vs ZSJ.
3030.10.2021benny5bellys1.0An absolute shell of what it once was, too scared to even have crowds back in fear of not being able to draw. Weird why WWE partnered with them, their popularity was never a really about storylines (they had far more misses than hits) but fact it was in great venues and not dusty council owned gyms or social clubs, the use of licensed music and yes the 'punk rock' feel. Ask yourself why one of the owners went running when #speakingout happened...
3103.10.2021Luv all wrestling4.0Borderline embarrassing to look at these days. No buzz, no pride in itself, terrible social media(who posts HOLY SHIT in reaction to a mediocre dropkick? ) & a gutted roster. Should have just let it die so people could at least have the memories

3306.05.2021texasyosh5.0Progress Wrestling is an unfortunate shell of what it used to be. The UK Wrestling scene has changed a lot since NXT UK coming into being, and since then Progress has fallen far.
3409.04.2021ExcitingProWrestlin33.0It's disheartening seeing Progress fall so far. I think the recent Cara Noir title defenses are promising but its not at the level of what it once was. Lots of its top stars have left, and now progress has to rebuild and recover with new and fresh faces. They can bounce back if they can build right, but it's looking real dreadful.
3521.03.2021Bushidospirit224.0A shell of its former self unfortunately. The Britwres scene has seen its reputation and its talent pool dwindle in the past couple of years as international companies have poached their biggest stars or established their own British promotions (e. g. NXT UK), and is now a far cry from its 2017-2018 peak.

3911.01.2021chinomoreno3.0One of the indie companies that had the most prestige, sadly when they started working for WWE they went to waste, their end will surely be just as terrible as EVOLVE, which is very sad for the scene and the business in general.
4030.12.2020JonDB5.0A shadow of its former self. The biggest promotion in Britwres and still puts on the odd good match but the quality of storylines steadily declined, roster was decimated and it basically became NXT UK-Lite. Hopefully with Cara Noir on top they can reboot the promotion away from WWE influence and bring up some of the new UK indie talent

5009.03.2020joelbevan7.0Having only begun attending Progress shows last May, it would be hard for me to say that it has fallen as a product. Whilst this seems to be the general consensus, my experiences at Progress shows have been highly enjoyable and I can't say that their product is bad. Watching shows from their early years does present a contrast in the 'punk rock' idea, and their WWE deal does seem to have restricted certain aspects of their product. Nonetheless, they still put on great shows and the calibre of talent that they have is extraordinary. The steps they're taking towards their women's division are also good, and I hope that this is sustained going forward.
5117.02.2020sophier6.0A couple of years ago, I would have given Progress a 9 or 10. Their product was on fire and couldn't be beaten in the UK. However, since then NXTUK came along, and snapped up the Progress owners as Producers. It seems to have nosedived since then. I dont know if the owners just simply dont have as much time to run it, or what, but it has certainly gone into a tailspin. The wrestlers are still mostly giving 100% but something is lacking lately to the point of I have cancelled the VOD (which I have had since Chapter 19). Don't get me wrong - the shows arent "bad" - they are just nothing special, and when you compare this to a couple of years back, the difference is night and day. A case in point - Do Not Resuscitate Spike Trivet is genuine money. Talented wrestler and magic on the mic, however he has been put in a stable with William Eaver (in a new gimmick that I still dont know what he is meant to be - Street Preacher? Cultish? ), Danny Duggan, Lewis Howley and Sam Stoker. It comes across as Trivet carrying the other four members who in my mind are just bland and forgettable. I dont fault them for taking WWE's money - anyone with a business brain would, however don't market your promotion as Punk Rock when you are getting in bed with the biggest company in your field. Time will tell if it picks up having Matt Richards involved following founder member Jim Smallman's departure (to NXTUK). I hope it does and is able to regain its footing as it is probably one of the most important promotions in British wrestling history.
5209.02.2020kynky7.0The best wrestling promotion in the UK today constantly putting on great shows and offering a diverse range of matches, featuring the best talent Europe and the world has to offer. Having a working agreement with WWE they've been able to use talent that are under WWE contract and even had a WWE title defended in their ring. The production values are not the greatest and the fact the company doesn't live stream their shows is probably the only negative I can think of. The fan base are so passionate and loyal that the atmosphere at every show is outstanding. In the last year they've started touring outside the UK and in 2018 will host the UK's largest indy wrestling show at Wembley Arena. EDIT: From 9/10 - 7/10. Since the launch of NXT UK most of the roster has been lost and even though the top end of the cards remain really solid the undercard is the weakest it's ever been. I've cancelled Progress On Demand which I'd had for 3+ years. It's hard to invest in anyone if they're going to get snapped up by WWE. Then there's the catch 22 situation that once someone's signed with WWE it's nice to see them come back to Progress but surely it's counter productive to. Progress got me back into wrestling after WWE almost made me quit watching and now WWE have made me quit watching Progress! Maybe once it's on the network (if ever) then I might watch it again but I don't feel like I'm missing out.
5305.02.2020AtticusFinch5.0A company that sold its soul and identity. There was a time where PROGRESS had been my favorite company in the world, but that was nearly 4 years ago. I foolishly thought that WWE lending a hand to PROGRESS wasn't an ominous sign, but alas it was. They brand themselves as alternative in the same way NXT does. Baffling creative decisions like randomly turning British Strong Style face, a painfully dull Travis Banks title reign, wasting a hot act in the South Pacific Power Trio, and actively ignoring their women's division for years. Occasionally PROGRESS can still do some good, but it's all pretty hallow, isn't it? Any goodwill they build is bound to come to an end whenever NXT UK comes calling to take someone away. I don't fault the PROGRESS creative hydra for taking the money, but it's very disingenuous to act like they're punk-rock wrestling still. The history of PROGRESS should be about how they helped breathe new life into the UK wrestling scene and instead it'll be about how they bent the knee to the almighty WWE empire.
5421.01.2020Roach1.0How far Progress have fallen. I was never that into the Progress style as much as some others but they once put on some pretty good matches and had some nice overarching stories, now Progress is absolutely abysmal. The booking is absolutely awful, they give their top belts to people who are not properly built up (Eddie Dennis) and ruin most of the amazing matchups they make with their atrocious overbooking. I struggle to make it through any Progress show I watch because of the awful structuring and the matches are just much of the same overbooked bullshit, they do not allow their talent to perform to the best of their abilities. Ever since Progress sold out to WWE, they have continued to deteriorate in quality to the point where I actively attempt to avoid anything progress no matter how good a matchup or story may seem, knowing I will only be disappointed. I will never watch this promotion again.
5604.01.2020Same Old Same Old6.0I was clearly late the party on this one. I did initially dabble with this promotion a few years ago, where is was an exciting prospect of a company. Coming back now, it's a strange feeling. There is such a deep pool of talent and the odd great match but something doesn't currently click or is missing something, like it's been neutered. I honestly didn't know at the time just how much WWE had their fingers in but when I did it hit me, they're essentially trying to maintain half an indie British punk vibe while also half trying to become more palatable in a sport entertainment manner, which it turns out neither half fully works and the presence of NXT UK makes this all the more glaring. In short, consistency is desperately needed.

6217.10.2019HC75.0My original rating for PROGRESS was a 9 (Which I feel was being really generous looking back on it) but over the past year PROGRESS has really lost it's buzz that it had around 2016-early 2018. I feel like the start of the NXT UK brand started PROGRESS has lost whatever it formally had

6411.08.2019Pinkd565.0At one point PROGRESS was the thing you showed your mates if they wanted to know what "that wrestling thing" was. Unfortunately in the last two years they've gone from being at the cutting edge to being completely directionless and easy to miss. To say that their match quality is low would be a disservice to them because it's one of the places they still do shine in but being joined to the hip with WWE yet maintaining that 'punk rock' image leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

6707.07.2019tkoZombie6.0They have lost a LOT of their luster but they still provide some solid wrestling. They have grown out of their small DIY punk attitude with their growth but now with the roster raid, they can hopefully go back to that and recover that feeling. I would still give it a try.
6811.05.2019Makai Club 4.0Went from a promotion that I adored and followed every month, just waiting for new show. Totally invested in everyone they had and all the shows to a promotion that I can barely be arse to watch when there is a match I want to see. Part of it is down to the owners lazily booking progress until WWE excersises their option to buy the promotion, part of it is the roster being totally depleted due to the WWE deal. I will love the past but now, they can die and I would not care
6920.04.2019UrdnotBran3.0Think it was around the mid point of 2017 that they fell off hard. They seem to have completely run out of creative direction as no storyline has been at all engaging in the last year and a half. The atlas division had WALTER and that was it, should have just had him unify it with Travis. Please stop putting Chris Brookes in singles matches and putting midcarders in stables and expecting them to suddenly be over

7319.03.2019AlexLikesJoshi4.0They did a lot for British Wrestling and it used to be a great company but it just isn't what it used to be. Their booking for most of 2018 was repetitive and uninspiring and they built their big show around contracted talent that could be pulled at any second and suffered for it. Also no more Chris Brookes singles matches pls
7427.02.2019homosaur4.0All good things must come to an end and it sure looks like becoming a WWE feeder league is the end for them. PROGRESS was for quite a few years one of the best indies in the world but it looks like now they'll just kinda shamble on as a zombie promotion. It mostly exists as an astroturf op by WWE to keep support away from real indies.

8009.12.2018Aurtletheturtle2.0Nothing more Punk-Rock Wrestling than being the whipped bitch of the biggest Pro-Wrestling company in the world. Used to love everything that PROGRESS stood for and represented but instead it has decided to forfeit it's prior identity to essentially take the role of a company waiting to be killed off by it's evil overlord. The booking has become extremely safe and stale and the excellent performances of the wrestlers mean little when they can be taken away to work a WWE show at any moment. You sold out! You sold out! You sold out!

8211.11.2018Bill8.0PROGRESS is one of the UK's biggest promotions, and with great booking, a great atmosphere, some great feuds and some of the best workers in the world (plus Jim Smallman), it's understandably so. There are some bad matches but they are outweighed by how good the good ones are. They definitely know how to build tension, especially with their main events.
8417.10.2018RatingsMachine4.0The wrestling is good, but overrated in some ways. Jim Smallman comes off as a bit of a bell-end at times, trying so hard to get the fans into cheering specific things that he feels like a carnival barker. The announcing is acceptable.

8912.09.2018AJStyles835.0I used to go to/watch every chapter and thoroughly enjoyed them back in 2016, but the constant talent raids from WWE and NJPW has just watered down the roster over the years and it's unrecognizable from what it was, when everyone first seemingly jumped on the bandwagon. The in-ring action is always at the very least solid, and you'll always get 1 or 2 belting matches on every card, and the live experience is always a blast - but only the in-ring part - as the crowd absolutely ruin this promotion for me, and many others. It's full of pretentious "comedians" constantly trying far too hard to be witty and often derailing promos/matches at the expense of the wrestlers. Jim Smallman is a really nice guy but he borders on being insufferably preachy at times, which can also take away from the product (as funny as some of his lines are). Glen Joseph is the worst commentator of all time (screeching down the microphone, rendering parts of matches unwatchable) and needs to be banned from commentating/occasionally emasculating wrestlers (ala Stephanie McMahon) and a lot of the fanbase really need to get their heads out of their own backsides, preaching the "don't be a dick" mantra and inclusiveness, yet go check out the reactions they give on their Facebook group when someone disagrees with them about something. It's a shame as I used to really see a massive potential for this promotion a couple of years ago, but the association with WWE has really started to rub off on them in negative ways (see Jim and Glen's "honest" opinion of Jinder Mahal being WWE Champion for a good example of what I mean) and if you criticize them for this, you will be lambasted and insulted of course. Overall, I love the ECW-esque vibe of the product and elements of the presentation, as it's very different from anything you'll get elsewhere, but there's an equal amount of positives and negatives for them in 2018 for me, hence the 5.
9005.09.2018jamzell007.0Inconsistent cards, booking and buzz really hurt them. I enjoy a lot of what they do but all these issues were dead in your face during Travis Banks title reign. Their build to the Wembley show has not been good and shows the issues they've had this year. I do enjoy them running more US shows and gaining a bigger audience but its just the wwe's uk version of evolve at this point. Most if not all the talent will be under full time contracts in the near future
9105.09.2018Reelbigmartin10.0I would give it 9. 8, as it is not perfect, but it's pretty damn close. Variety of matches that take the sport very seriously. The guys are ambitious, but it never hinders the product. The almost exclusively use home-grown talent, and to have it as popular as it is, is quite incredible. Look at the Wembley card, the only imports are Flamita & Bandido, and Matt Riddle. Matt Riddle had a previous tremendous run in Progress, so I would argue that he doesn't count as an import, so makes them putting on a show at Wembley Arena even more impressive. Amazing company and they are worthy of your support.
9215.08.2018Cal Vam9.0My favourite wrestling promotion in Europe right now. Almost every chapter has at least one good, or a great match. However, sometimes it's pretty complicated to keep in touch with all the storylines.
