[7.0] "AEW is without a doubt, one of the most important promotions in the history of the Wrestling Business, A lot has been achieved by this promotion in the last 5 years. From successful PPVs, to the rise of superstars like Jon Moxley and MJF, to must-watch matches, to making Arthur Ashe Stadium wrestling events a year-round tradition (and Wembley soon to be perhaps) and speaking of Wembley, selling tens of thousands of tickets to Wembley in 2023 and so far again in 2024. AEW has also had some great hires like Jon Moxley, MJF, Eddie Kingston, Samoa Joe, Toni Storm, Christian Cage and hopefully a few more soon, not to forget that Sting had one of the greatest retirement matches ever and it will go down in the history books in emotion and triumph. With those positives, there do come some negatives, like the misuse of certain talents that are too good to be wasted, to the really bad hirings of Vickie Guerrero, Saraya, and Parker Bordeaux; the promoting of and pushing of Saraya despite her being a decade off her prime and being one of the MOST hated and obnoxious wrestlers today (I will NEVER forgive TK for the disaster of putting the belt on her at Wembley.), hiring Ric Flair (even though he is a legend so I respect him for that) despite him not really contributing much to the product and being controversial, to the CM Punk debacle and the mishandling of it until the last minute (last minute = termination of contract), to some utterly bad storylines like The Devil, Outcasts vs Originals, and several others that I won't mention. AEW has set a new precedent in Pro Wrestling and has helped define the new era of wrestling, hence the 7 rating. I can't rate them close to a 10 because of some of the negatives plus some other factors like normal US ticket sales and not so much of a casual following, I do hope that casuals give AEW a chance though, as they do have some fairly marketable names and some massive star power."

Stings farewell is probably the greatest in history, Danielson vs Kingston was very good, World title 3 way was great storytelling and rest of card was good to great! A slam dunk loved the card! Darby and Sting is the tag team we never knew we needed loved that partnership! Enjoy your retirement the Icon Sting well deserved!"

It has a lot of great talents that it doesn't always seem to know what to do with and either doesn't promote them at all or gives them storylines that make no damn sense or just flat out suck. But again, when the storylines do work and everything's on point, very few can touch AEW. To me, TK is overrated as a booker, could really use some additional assistance and really needs to stay off Twitter but 80% of the time, he deserves the praise he gets. AEW is a company that has a lot of potential but often gets in its own way, very much like WCW. Let's just hope that All Elite Wrestling has a much better fate that WCW did."

Far from perfect, but having faith that I'm not wasting 4 hours of my life a week on a weekly television show where they actually showcase wrestling and try to make things matter is certainly a breath of fresh air. When they do things right, they do things *really* right and I love it. Some talent I'm not fond of gets pushed harder than I would if I were booking the show, but in my opinion wrestling should be a variety show, and I truly believe that there's a little bit of everything for everyone in AEW."

With a great roster and some killer matches, I was really pumped for what AEW would bring to the table. But now, I kind of wish that AEW would either go away or completely rebrand itself. The roster these days is completely bloated. If you are The Elite, MJF, or Britt Baker, you'll likely do well. But if you are Lance Archer, Jay Lethal, or Malakai Black, you're taking a gamble. For as many shows as they have, it feels like they still cannot fit everyone in. Storylines are always hit or miss, and TK is severely overrated as a booker. Quality has noticeably gone down and it feels like he is stuck in his own world. But what really shut me off to AEW was the entire CM Punk drama, which really exposed how lousy of an owner TK really is, creating an unsafe and hostile working environment and letting people go into business for themselves. This leaves viewers confused and disillusioned. I just can't get excited for AEW anymore and unless if things really change, I don't know if I want to tune in again. God bless guys like Samoa Joe, Claudio Castagnoli, and even Bryan Danielson for sticking it out, but at this rate, I'd much rather have Ring of Honor split off from AEW and have those guys go help build a better show than TK has put on in the last 2 years."

[3.0] "AEW had the potential to be a different promotion and have real looking serious pro wrestling on national TV. Unfortunately most of the wrestling in AEW is video game wrestling, comedy & Spot monkey style of wrestling. This includes wrestlers doing a bunch of "cool" moves and spots, and not selling any of it. This style of wrestling only works for a small amount of fans because moves mean nothing, because everybody on the show does the moves. As far as storylines, none of the story lines are relevant enough to make somebody not a hardcore fan turn the TV on and watch the show. Hardcore fans of AEW are the only ones still watching at this point. Of course there are some great pro wrestlers on the show like FTR, MJF, Billy Gunn but the rest all wrestle the same. As a fan of good serious Pro wrestling this does hurt writing this and giving AEW a 3.0 rating."

The rise of "Hangman" Adam Page to overcome his friend and rival Kenny Omega. is pure cinema. Want the wrestling itself to tell the tale? The 2023 Continental Classic is teeming with that. Do you like WWE-style sports entertainment? Chris Jericho and Christian Cage have you covered. Want something a bit more puro? Say hello to the likes of Will Ospreay. Technical wrestling? Bryan Danielson is the master of that craft. Eddie Kingston will give you brawling that almost feels real. Sting and Darby Allin represent the old legends and tomorrow's stars side-by-side. Jon Moxley will give you the greatest delights of hardcore wrestling. Orange Cassidy seamlessly merges comedy with his workhorse ethic. Both FTR and the Young Bucks constantly raise the bar for what to expect from tag team wrestling. And Mercedes Moné will soon bring the peak of women's wrestling into the house that Tony Khan built. The best in the world are nearly all under one roof and it truly is an embarrassment of riches. And hey, if you don't like what's on your screen, just wait 20 minutes; there'll be something different. A lack of competition breeds a lack of creativity, which turned so many people off wrestling over the past twenty years. AEW stood up to the plate and brought the feeling back for so many people. Truly elite."

The weeklies like Dynamite either rise and lower in quality in the most random times and the PPVs are great but how can we care if the stories usually aren't juicy. Rampage & Collision are as useless as trying to go up the stairs in a wheelchair and the attendances are lowering and the fanbase is slowly starting to turn on AEW. I hope they can make a turn around soon but as of now they are a decent promotion."

This company has been defined by 2 things: excellent in-ring wrestling, and wrestler lead presentation. It's been fantastic to see wrestlers in the USA given the agency to succeed or fail on their own terms for the first time in a very long time. And failure is a key here. The company has generally done a great job of pivoting when the audience has rejected, or embraced for that matter, an angle, a wrestler, or a story. A key standout that increases the overall score for me is the commitment to PPV quality. If you pay for a show, you know that you are going to get wall to wall top quality wrestling. My interest in the stories goes into my decision to purchase the show. I appreciate a company not ruining the matches on the paid show to further stories that will take place on free TV."

[3.0] ""The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house." If you wanna be the alternative to sports entertainment, you cannot produce sports entertainment. Granted, it is an edgier version of it, but still nowhere near a serious sports presentation. I am mad at AEW specifically for not being able to be the alternative, after months of bragging about how rich and smart they were, and how many good wrestlers they had... They handed all of the buzz and interest to their rivals. There's really too many problems in the company to enumerate all of them, but a couple of fundamental ones make the product barely watchable. First of all, I understand kayfabe's dead, but that is not an excuse to write shitty, tongue-in-cheek storylines, that have no semblance or realism (or drama, or genuine comedy) or have none at all and set up random no DQ matches. I can count AEW memorable storylines on the fingers of one hand (and they mostly involve people who aren't even there anymore). Secondly, WORKRATE IS NOT ABOUT MOVES. And I say this as somebody who watches wrestling matches mainly looking for high level workrate, that is storytelling and psychology, I believe the vision of a "great match" that AEW has is just delusional, and brings forth nothing but copy and paste matches, with personalities noone will remember and even less memorable spots, while also being needlessly reckless. I mean the fact that some of AEW's "biggest stars" are literally one-trick ponies is quite telling: I think of Daniel Garcia's negative charisma cringey dance, of Orange Cassidy's silly shin kicks that were never funny to begin with (imagine after seeing them every week), of the Young Bucks' insufferable personas that have taken the concept of go away heat to a whole nother level. Moreover, this obession with dream matches with no build whatsoever make it so that no match is a real dream match in the end. There's so much more that should be said, from TK's inability to realize how inadequate and unexperienced he is as a booker and his refusal to put qualified people in charge, to much of the roster's refusal to listen to advice and adapt to a more consistent, less indierific style, to the ridiculous amount of useless belts nobody cares about, but unfortunately nobody's paying me to shit on this company. I root for AEW, I genuinely do, I am tired of the silly sports entertainment that the others have shoved down everybody's throat for decades, and AEW has shown that they CAN produce good wrestling if they want to (which makes their whole pointless programming even more infuriating) but right now the product overall just sucks.  And it's sad for the MJFs, the FTRs, the Jay White's, the Samoa Joe's, the Eddie Kingston's of this world, and I could go on because they do have a stacked roster with tons of talent, they just have no idea how to use it in a coherent and consistent way."

As for the past. AEW will be considered historical in wrestling for changing the American PW landscape. From the early moments of Mox's debut to the recent Sting retirement matches - AEW has delivered a rock solid reason to watch TV on a Wednesday (and Saturday) night. While some people complain - I think the company gets FAR more hate than it deserves. Tony Kahn has opened up a huge network of wrestling in America which actually has caused other companies to take serious notice. AEW over the years has become a fusion of some of THE best guys in the business. Business has stabilized but AEW has started major traditions like Wembley and Arthur Ashe. While AEW deals with major social media backlash still from last years All In and other events, Tony Kahn continues to deliver a great week by week product with new surprises again and again (Who guessed Samoa Joe would be AEW KING). As far as the future goes, this is ridiculous my boy. We are talking about Ospreay and Okada and Mone and Takeshita and Cole and SWERVE and Hangman and Darby and Omega and Mox and yeah the list goes on. This is probably the best wrestling roster ever. So that's me in '24 and I give them a 10 for completely mindshifting the entire pro wrestling landscape. If I come back in 10 years and everything goes bad I'll change me rating."

For me the issues with the company aren't the talent, it's mainly Tony Khan putting his head in the sand and not caring about his own fans like he used too when AEW started. Tony Khan puts on shows extremely frequently in bigger venues which don't even sell out these days and have shocking attendances, while viewers and ratings are dropping each week because of his own questionable bookings and decisions that's already dampening the reputation of himself, his talent and most importantly AEW. The women's division of AEW needs a gigantic improvement as it's never been taken seriously enough from the offset. If he wants AEW's ratings on CageMatch to improve then Tony needs to look seriously in the mirror as if he doesn't, his company will keep declining as AEW used to be a 10/10 and I was watching the shows every week while looking forward to PPVs. I don't even feel that same buzz and excitement anymore because of Tony Khan's questionable bookings and decisions"

[8.0] "Giving an 8. My weekly watches are stuff like Stardom, a few indies, and over the past year, TNA. I am not a tribalist fan, like a lot seem to be when it comes to this company, or "the big competition". My consumption of AEW these days is their YouTube clips, Twitter posts, and the occasional PPV if I am interested in the match card. Which directly lines up with my problem with this company and my rating. Most of the "stories" do not and cannot make me care. Currently Hangman/Swerve has gotten me interested, as well as Joe as champ and Sting's upcoming retirement as of posting. There's quite a bit of overpushing that occurs here, especially on the Women's side. I *adore* women's wrestling. Stardom is a favorite of mine, love the TNA Knockouts Division, and "you know who" has been on fire over the past year with the likes of matches from the big stars like Ripley and Belair, and others in "developmental" like Valkyria, Stratton, Perez, and Vice. But in AEW, why am I constantly having certain talent just constantly on TV in repeated losses when stars like Shida, Rosa, Baker (yes, I like Britt, cry more), and others with proven track records of getting over are not on TV? This goes to the men's and tag and trios divisions as well. Talent are overpushed, or not seen. And the stories don't make *a ton* of sense usually? And certain stuff is really disconnected? I say all those negatives, leading into the good because HOLY GOD, WHEN THEIR MATCHES ARE GOOD, THEY ARE F****** GREAT. Some of my fave matches have happened in AEW, but the booking and TK acting out on Twitter take me out of it quite often. While often being really long and kinda dragging, AEW's PPVs giving you 4 hours of matches for the price isn't a bad value in my mind. But, I get when people say 14 matches on a card is long. It can get wild. The big thing to remember is: everything doesn't have to be in competition with each other, and there can truly be alternatives. And AEW to me is a valid North American alternative that needs to find it's footing, and that spark and shine that was present when the promotion was freshly minted and new."

[7.0] "After 5 years of existence as a mainstream American company, we can all say without a shroud of a doubt that AEW rejuvenated that exciting feeling you get around wrestling. And it has been amazing to see this company making its baby steps to become what it is today. But as of the day I'm writing this review and for the past 2 years no less, it has (justifiably) come under scrutiny when it comes to booking and behind-the-scenes drama. But before that, I'd have to give it the amount of credit it deserves. I'm not too deep in wrestling, but I love how I've been using AEW as a gateway to start getting into other wrestling companies outside of North America (NJPW, NOAH, AAA, DDT...), it gives AEW this unpredictable nature that makes the announcement of a Yuji Nagata v. Bryan Danielson more exciting than any PPV build. Speaking of PPV, even with the amount of duds (World's End 2023, half of All Out 2022, All Out 2020) AEW has on its PPV counter, their pacing flows a lot better than their contemporaries, and you're always guaranteed to have two quality matches at the very least. Thirdly, I love the edgy nature, the TV-14 rating for their TV programs allows the talent to explore more mature themes (for example: Christian Cage's "Go f*ck yourself" promo) or sillier jokes (Kenny Omega's Bangkok joke or Big Bill putting Moxley's blood as lipstick) which makes the builds infinitely more interesting and colorful than the restrictive nature of any PG wrestling program. AEW easily has the best tag team division in the world, with The Young Bucks, Lucha Bros and FTR trying each year to dethrone each other for the spot of being the best tag team. With the exception of 2022 and 2023, the sports-based presentation has been wonderful, even if the choice of making rankings don't make all that much sense when there are tournaments and battle royals for a number one contendership, it's easily made up with the quality of the TV matches, which is something that I can say more for the men's division rather than the women's division. And here's where my words will turn sour, the AEW women's division sucks. Not just in terms of booking, but also in terms of in-ring quality. The level of importance given to this division rivals the worst popularity contest you could imagine. As of today, it's a bloody travesty that the division's champion (Toni Storm) has 1000 times more care given to her fantastic character work rather than her in-ring work. I hope AEW can take some pages from the STARDOM notebook. Another complaint with this company can be boiled down to their production, and I don't know how, but these issues become incredibly apparent during the Anarchy in the Arena/Stadium Stampede matches. All these matches have too many instances where the camera cuts sooner or later than a given spot. And my final complaint goes to Tony Khan's booking after he acquired Ring of Honor. Plain simple, he needs to delegate ROH to someone else and continue the sports-based booking of AEW. If nothing, the Continental Classic has been among their best storytelling devices and it should be used as a blueprint for most of the booking. That it, I love AEW, and I hope it keeps succeeding at being the better alternative in mainstream North American wrestling."

[7.0] "As a big fan of AEW since early 2020, I feel like I go back and forth on my feelings on the company quite a bit. On one hand the consistently high-quality wrestling, insanely talented roster, and unforgettable storylines (Hangman/Elite, MJF/Punk, MJF/Cole, Hangman/Swerve, Moxley/Kingston, Elite/BCC to name a few) make me want to give them a 9 or 10 some days. On the other, the awful misuse of talent, mismanagement spilling over into the actual product, constant fumbling of the third act, and nigh on ripping the prestige right out of almost every single belt (remember how great the TNT belt was before Sammy got a hold of it? ) have me barely paying attention through most Wednesday nights over the past year or so when prior to that I couldn't take my eyes of the damn TV for a second. It's a shame too, since I really do still enjoy the product overall but don't feel like I can get invested as much with how poorly everything has been handled as of late. Most titles don't mean anything anymore, the women's division is treated like an absolute joke despite having a ton of potential, every match ends EXACTLY as you'd expect, and booking to pop the crowd rather than upset anyone has led to the product starting to feel stale. On top of that, the ADHD booking that comes with every new star has wrecked any ability to get invested in any potential rises to the top of the card. Remember how things looked when Andrade, Malakai, Athena, and Miro first signed with the company? Andrade was set to put on some incredible matches, Malakai showed up with arguably the best debut in the company, Athena looked like the only person capable of ending Jade's TBS reign of terror, and Miro had arguably the best run in the history of the TNT belt, and now where are they? None of them have been on the company's flagship show in months, Andrade jumped ship, Miro has spent his time since dropping the belt in several lackluster feuds, Malakai hasn't been utilized properly since the HoB first won the trios titles, and Athena jobbed out to Jade and hasn't been seen on AEW TV in ages. Original guys aren't even immune to this either: Take a look at where Santana/Ortiz, Spears, Wardlow, and Penta (who should NOT be losing every single high-profile match he's involved in) have ended up. Frustrations aside, for every complaint I have with AEW we get storylines like Orange's International Title run, the continual rise and fall of Hangman, MJF's constantly dynamic development, and Wardlow's warpath towards destroying MJF; shows like All Out '21, Full Gear '21, Forbidden Door, Revolution '23, All Out '23, and WrestleDream; and matches like Hangman vs. Danielson, Orange vs. Moxley, Young Bucks vs. Lucha Bros, Page vs. Strickland, MJF vs. Danielson, Anarchy in the Arena 1, or Darby vs. Christian. Overall, I really wish I could rate them higher as the potential is absolutely there (as we saw back in '21) but with the GLARING issues they've been facing lately, even a 7 feels generous. Thankfully the roster is talented enough to carry them through the massive problems they've been having as of late."

"While certainly not perfect, and often frustrating, AEW provides a high-budget and often high-quality alternative to other Western wrestling promotions. As the company continues to grow, it inevitably loses some of the charm it had in the first few years of its existence, but the freedom given to the performers and production team makes for a much rawer feeling than other major wrestling promotions. Simply put, if the other wrestling programs are too polished or not polished enough, AEW may be for you. The promotion has thus far successfully walked the line between revolutionary super-indy and high-budget major blockbuster promotion. While the AEW television product has many faults that their competitors also have, the company's strengths lie within its world-class roster of talent, targeting of an intelligent demographic, and raw feeling not found in other major Western promotions. Currently, it is the best wrestling promotion in the world, with plenty of room to grow, and an opportunity to become the greatest promotion of all-time."

I just hope that if they keep that momentum like those years, I will give them a 9 for now and if for some few years they manage to hold on to that momentum, it would be a solid 10. When its inception, I was so thrilled that finally we got to have a solid competition in American wrestling after 18 years. No doubt it was a milestone in wrestling history. One of the biggest signings include Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, CM Punk and Bryan Danielson and no doubt they helped develop this company. This company even lures lapsed wrestling fan after years of disappointment in the American wrestling show. This promotion, especially its first three years were the most enjoyable and the most entertaining period on its short history. Nowadays, I got mixed feelings with it. With constant new signings, bloated roaster, lack of authority, copying moments and anticlimactic spots. It was even worse when toxic die-hard fanatics were developed and bringing tribalism to the wrestling community. Another huge problem is the poor management of handling real incident backstage. Since the AEW All Out 2022 media scrum incident, AEW has been exposed as just another political tripping company and the company that couldn't handle real-heat situations. Also, the way of presenting their women's wrestlers is underwhelming. But still, their matches are quite good and very entertaining to watch. I just hope AEW would catch-up, as I have more faith on improving their product than the other big company in the US. But despite my criticisms, AEW is still the best wrestling promotion in USA. I guess most of this is not what I care for anymore, I'm sure people who still watch it are still into it, but it's not for me anymore. Inconsistent booking of their wrestlers, having 0 character arcs for them to overcome, overreliance and burying of titles by overexposing them and Tony Khan's insufferable personality mixed in with some of the worst wrestling I have ever been subjected to. Kicking out of devastating finishers at 1, or sometimes not even selling it, Eddie Kingston as a whole, and the entire weekly package is just monotonic in its nature, you get practically the same feud every week, that's just copy/pasting of the previous ones. What once was the top babyface in Hangman Adam Page, is just going in random ever longing feuds with no context going behind it and nothing of value after it except for "oh they had that one brilliant bloody match where one stapled his man tits and the other drank his blood before spitting it out." Great match though but that's what AEW is just reduced to now, being a spectacle for one night and just ignoring everything else that makes wrestling great rest of the year because they don't make me or several of us care about the product. What I'm basically trying to get here is that AEW is the equivalent of a fast food chain, has everything that appeals to a less attention span individual, make everything to the likes of the consumer without putting much heart into it and then provide it in the greasiest looking bag lacking any presentation quality. It does have several room to improve, having multitudes of great talent at their disposal, but sadly that's not the case for quite some time now."

The only thing I will say is there PPV Build up sucks and storylines are non existent. After watching 51 AEW Matches I have come to the consensus. This is an okay promotion. The matches are good but some aren't as god tier as their made out to be. They get really good crowds for every week usually full of really great fans. Every match I've seen is just wrestling at its finest (if it is actual wrestling.) Good stuff. Now the bad that I observed. They suffer from a lot of things that there fanbase claims they don't have or what they wish you wouldn't look into. For example, they marked themselves as a real sport however I notice that in some cases there are hardly any rules. Wrestlers are free to wander around the outside of the ring freely when no such stipulation has been added that would allow them to do so without being counted out. The refs seem to let that slide. It's a lot like ECW refs if you know what I mean. No rules which is okay but ECW made it clear there were no rules. I would also like to say that it prides itself on not being sports entertainment and actual pro wrestling. It's fans (this is the last time I bring them up, this is not meant to be a hit piece) pride themselves on the idea that this has zero sports entertainment. Through my observations this is baselessly untrue. This is in the debate for having the same if not more sports entertainment then AEW. Some of the matches can be really overbooked and have way too many false finishes, so the same issues Black and Gold NXT had. They also it feels like overuse those tropes a lot and have a lot of heavy theatrics. Some things are there that I wouldn't call wrestling but that's subjective all I'll say. Every match kinda feels the same at points. Start, Action, Slow Pace, Action, Slow Pace, Spots, False Finish A, Spots, Interference (optional), False Finish B, Action, Drama, Climax, Finish. It's all very formulaic. And you know I feel like they are just as sports entertainment as WWE when it comes to in ring. They do overuse gimmick matches it feels to me. Texas Death Matches, Tornado Tags you know. ESPICALLY when it comes to TDM but I digress I could just be looking at it wrong or something. I feel like it half the stuff they market themselves around is appealing but when you actually watch and see how they're matches are structured, how the promos are done, it's a very WWE-NXT Black and Gold inspired schtick just slightly tweaked. Maybe it's just me. Conclusion: AEW offers something for everyone however despite what it markets itself around, it is very much the same sports entertainment as WWE and suffers from repetitive and some what exhausting matches but in ring wise it delivers on every hit. 8/10 good."

Their biggest mistake was just signing anybody with a name, especially ones who left WWE under the covid situation. Lots of good wrestlers there, but the promotion stood out the most when it was independent wrestlers with a few big names. The women's division is non-existent, WWE during the diva era featured women more than AEW does, which is really saying something. Doing cross promotion stuff with the likes of NJPW & TNA is fantastic, but AEW has slowly became a second rate WWE. Biggest thing they need to do imo is start doing the little things right. There's no long-term planning (aside from the devil thing, but the pay-off for that made no sense as both MJF & Adam Cole are injured.) Lastly, Tony Khan needs to get off Twitter sooner rather than later. You wouldn't catch Vince McMahon crying about stuff online like Tony does. Needs to stop acting like a mark and actually get a grip of himself and of his promotion."

Sure, there are still great matches on pay-per-view and some interesting stories that carried me through Dynamites and Collisions, but besides that there wasn't really anything for me to look forward to or get invested in. The Continental Classic reinvigorated some of my interest, but I just know things will go back to the way they were when it wraps up at World's End. It's hard to stay enthusiastic for shows that often times feel cobbled together at the last second, with several random multi-man tag matches dominating a vast majority of each broadcast. And the stars I *do* enjoy watching are almost never shown on TV, do show on TV but for a squash match, or are permanently stuck in ridiculously long storylines. It's tiring to watch. Maybe I'll pick AEW back up in a couple of months or when something big & important catches my eye, but right now that isn't looking too likely."

Sometimes there's some inconsistencies in the booking, there's stuff that we dont understand because this is badly done and it makes the whole thing incoherent but there's also well written storylines, more of the big stories are good actually especially the ones with Adam Page (one of the best character in professional wrestling today, AEW made him a star), Kenny Omega, MJF, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson and etc. AEW has also one of the best roster you can get, it's amazing to see guys like Danielson, Moxley, Omega, Page, Ibushi, Takeshita, Jericho, Young Bucks and etc in the same place though i can agree that there's too much people in the roster and unfortunately some of them are stuck at Rampage or at ROH who became an improved version of Dark. So many memorable as well many bad moments in the promotion (especially the DoN-Full Gear period in 2022, it was terrible), the current product is pleasant to watch and there's often great things."

[4.0] "I gave AEW 6* a couple of months ago, but have to update the rating to 4*. I like to give every company the benefit of the doubt, and that was no different with AEW. It's pretty clear that this company is nowhere near, where it was when it started. The shows used to feel exciting, unpredictable and cool. But ever since somewhere around early-mid 2022, the product has fallen off quite a bit, and lost it's magic and identity. At the beginning, they used to be a true alternative to what WWE was presenting, and described themselves as a more sports-based product. While AEW still offers some great matches, they pretty much moved on from their original identity and what made them special, and focus more on booking matches with shockingly lackluster build-ups, silly skits that the fanbase used to criticize WWE for, and bad character development. During these two or so years, AEW has failed to listen to their audience, and failed to pull the trigger on a lot of talents, who used to be white-hot. Not only that, but a lot of them just dissapeared for months, without any explanation as to why. It feels like so many talents have been stuck for years and can't excel. The booking has been absolutely shocking. There's a severe lack of builds to matches. It's just not enough anymore to just announce matches on short notice, without any story or build to them. It often times just feels like hotshot booking that is so random, and doesn't make any sense. Like, why do people get title-shots who clearly don't deserve them? And why not build towards these matches and create interest first? When it comes to titles, it has been pretty obvious for me, that there are way too many titles. Not only that, but also titles from other promotions or sister promotions like ROH get presented and defended on AEW TV. Why? It just waters down the titles and confuses the audience. People watch AEW to watch AEW, and not to see championships from other promotions, that don't even have a TV-Deal. The in-ring action is pretty good, although there are performers who are really limited and live off highspots with no psychology and no-sells. There also have been too many instances, were talents worked reckless and injured their opponents. That has to stop! That is also something Ref's should be more aware of and have to improve to act accordingly if someone gets injured. The women's division is in a sad state and should have a bigger focus, instead of just having one match per show. I think the product is at times too customized for the most "Hardcore" audience, and it isn't explained well enough, who these guys who come from Japan or Mexico are, and why people should care about them. I feels that it's unnecessary to book these guys and girls, when you already have such a deep roster. Production should be improved, because they still have issues, and the shows color patterns and lighting makes the product feel kinda cheap. Having two A-shows and one B-show has oversaturated the product quite a bit. But that makes the bad booking more alarming to me, because I don't feel like I have to watch any of these shows. The only way to fix this, is to have better storytelling, build-ups and feuds. At this point, it has been a lot of skipping for me and lost the interest in the product. I truly wish they go back to what made this show so special. I hope they start to only focus on their shows, and not the competition. And I hope that the constant infighting has an end, and that the company is being led properly."

Wins and losses mattered. Tag team wrestling mattered. Joshi wrestlers were going to be predominantly featured. Kenny Omega putting pen to paper was what ultimately sold me on the promotion, as he had established himself as one of the greatest of all time over in New Japan Pro Wrestling. AEW has looked different with every passing year, to the point where you could reasonably label each year of their existence as eras within themselves. I truly hope that 2024 will be the year that AEW hits their stride and regains some of their lost identity. Make wins and losses matter again. Make tag team wrestling matter again by crowning The Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi) AEW World Tag Team Champions. Put Riho and Yuka Sakazaki back on TV. Na ja, was kann man sagen?

Another problem AEW has is it's ever growing roster and how to properly balance the new and old; Unfortunately, only a few are consistently booked at the top level spot and the rest are rotated in favor of new faces that are mostly ex-WWE employees. In recent times however, AEW has begun focusing more on homegrown talents like Ricky Starks, Hook, Jungle Boy, Acclaimed, Jamie Hayter which I think is great. Even though they are the clear no. 2 in the bussiness, AEW is already too big to fail and they consistently produce high quality shows and lots of quality matches including multiple MOTYCs. Another aspect I liked about AEW is that it capitalises on the existing storylines from the independent scene instead of rebranding/creating a new persona and gives more freedom to the wrestlers creatively. But their biggest issue is long term storytelling, which WWE and New Japan does far better imo; Other than MJF, there is no young under 35 wrestler that is actually booked to be a pillar despite the fact that they keep bringing up the Four pillars Schtick."

To be honest, the company fell off once CM Punk won the AEW World Title. The match qualities started going down, you could tell there was a shift in the atmosphere, and it overall wasn't that great. [8.0] "In a similar way to WWE, AEW in recent years has fallen off. Why? Namely because they have a roster that is so large it is unrealistic for the amount of weekly shows. Contrary to the opinions of many, a massive roster can be run and maintained well but they may need to increase their weekly TV prescence which they may not have funding to do. Another major drawback to AEW is the blatant fact the Tony Khan books his favorite wrestlers. Some talented performers rarely show up on a show and if they do it is often time to get buried by more recognizable talent. Using the same 6 wrestlers every show can become pretty stale pretty fast. Having multiple PPVs so close together does help with the oversized roster but negativley effects storytelling. For people who can not afford or access PPVs for them to be nearly bi-weekly in some months really makes coherent storylines hard to maintain and follow. The final gripe about this promotion is the constant referencing of WWE. Now while its understandable to talk about legends of wrestling across promotions since WWE has been the superpower of the industry for so long, it does a great diservice to AEW to constantly reference WWE when the latter doesnt acknowledge the others existance at all. Which really speaks volumes if the goal of referencing is to discredit or ridicule the oppositions product and hype up your own. The major triumph of AEW is the talent. Depending on the wrestler one AEW performer has more talent then three of some of the main card WWE performers of this time."

OC, Darby, Young Bucks, Wheeler Yuta, Adam Cole, Sammy and Jungle Boy are all physically unimpressive and charisma vacuums yet they're presented as legitimate threats. Orange Cassidy is the worst of them all. At first I was indifferent to him, but Tony kept shoving him down my throat. I think he opened Dynamite for 10 weeks in a row. I guess they're trying to make him the next Bruno Sammartino with his International Championship run. Just put the world title on him already, because that's inevitable. Also, their roster is just too big. Sometimes I look at their wrestling cards and have no interest because it includes a bunch of jobbers or people I don't even know. I don't want to watch Butcher and the Blade, Dark Order, Best Friends or The Kingdom ever! As for the wrestlers I do enjoy, some I might not get to see for months on end! I'm a fan of Shida and was into her angle with the outsiders last January. Then she disappeared for 6 months! By the time she came back, I really didn't care anymore. The fanbase is also a major turn off. They think everything AEW puts out is absolute perfection. They're so delusional. If Dynamite has a bad rating they'll always say it's good anyways because of the NBA or NFL, MLB competing. They just lost to NXT and they're saying it's a win anyways because they nearly kept their demo and that WWE couldn't hit a million. Just take the L, admit you lost and move on. They managed to get a decent amount of eyeballs on their product from the jump thanks to a general interest in a wrestling product that isn't WWE on TV, and, aside from when they first hired CM Punk, they haven't really grown from their initial audience. From where I'm sitting, I think this is because Tony and the other creative minds at the company seem content to appeal to extant dedicated fans first, which works for that audience but doesn't seem to compel new viewers to stick around. As a booker, Tony Khan is great at putting together matches that people who are already wrestling fans want to see, but he struggles at other facets of wrestling booking, like formatting a TV show, getting unestablished wrestlers over, hiding his workers' weaknesses from the audience, and telling focused stories. In the early months of the company, before they had put on any wrestling shows, the stated intention of the company was to promote sports-based wrestling. To me, it seemed like the intention was that we'd see a grounded, focused presentation with an emphasis on amateur or shoot-style matches. That would've been interesting, and would have made AEW's product distinct from the sort of thing you could see on WWE or at your average indie show. Obviously that's not what we got, and instead your average episode of AEW Dynamite is a complete variety show that could not be further from grounded or focused or sports-based and instead more closely resembles your average PWG show. That's fine for the people who like that sort of thing, but it makes it difficult to latch onto the product as a whole, since for every segment or match on a given show that appeals to my sensibilities, there are half a dozen others that range from forgettable to unconscionably silly. The same company that can bring you the arguable career highs of some of the greatest workers of this era can also bring you droll, interchangeable indie fare and comedy routines that belong on DDT or GCW. Unfocused at its best and its worst."

AEW's ability to broker partnerships with other promotions (e.g., NJPW, DEFY, Impact) is such a welcome development in comparison to WWE's parasitic relationship with the rest of the business. That being said, day by day, AEW feels less like a company that's rivaling a wrestling monopoly and more like a rich mark's real life TEW save."

Luckily Full Gear 2022 represented a pretty big shift in the company's direction and showed them really get back on their feet. Since then, things have been generally stellar. In my opinion, Revolution, Forbidden Door, All In and All Out 2023 are some of the best wrestling shows I've seen since I got into it. I'm keeping a 9 rating here, with the only thing stopping them from a 10 the very inconsistent and sometimes nonexistent feeling women's division. Despite that, the women involved in the company regularly put on great matches in despite of the lackluster booking. The post CM Punk era will be quite interesting for the company as they continue to solidify their top stars and their identity, and its exciting that they have so many different directions they can go and wrestlers to elevate."

The women are treated like second class citizens, and 2022 was a rough year overall with all the ROH crap and the clogging up of a bloated roster. The "Discontent of Phil Brooks" hung over much of this year, but that issue has thankfully been resolved, and I expect the company to bounce back quickly. The extra screen time afforded by Collision should continue to solve the bloated roster issue, particularly now that it has opened up to the ENTIRE roster, not just friends of Punk. The belts are getting back on track, and MJF has grown into being an amazing champion. Alongside strong leaders like Danielson and Moxley, and the core group of stars that bust their backs at every show, AEW is in no danger of failing anytime soon."

Their big storyline to date was a wrestler becoming a cartoon alcoholic because he was jealous his friends didn't walk him to the ring like they do each other. There's a running criticism that feuds are done in reverse, start with a singles match and ending in a 5 on 5 gimmick match where it's impossible to care about it beyond what stunts they're going to attempt. The wrestling is subpar, most guys have very little experience. It's rare to have a match that doesn't have a kayfabe shattering botch or just a really dumb spot. Big shows are ruined by the inclusion of scramble matches and countless tornado tags. Really, all I can recommended from them is Cody vs Dustin, and the Punk vs MJF dog collar match. I genuinely hope I can revise this score in a few years, but I really don't see any active efforts to bring in an actual booker or help the talent develop."

The booking of owner Tony Khan's shows will leave you with a headache (don't even get me started about how he's treated the women's division especially over the past year or so) and there will sometimes be a lack of storylines on shows like Rampage, which at first were an equal to Dynamite but then quickly faded away and is used as a show for talent to get quick squash wins and get names some TV time (don't get me wrong there's some decent matches mixed in between but this used to be consistent.) Wrestlers like to show up for a couple weeks and TK will suddenly forget about them and treat them like Andy in Toy Story 3 treats action figures. The wrestling is amazing and most matches have a great fight feel to them, when stars like Kenny Omega, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, MJF, Adam Cole, Darby Allin etc hit the ring the crowd gets behind them in a way that can't really be explained. Also AEW fans are huge internet marks the crowd pops like crazy over names you have probably never even heard of before and you will see signs referring to super obscure things that maybe half of the fans will get. AEW is 10/10 wrestling with less than stellar booking, and a few years ago it felt like it had a lot more heat to it and had more eyes on it and its kind of leveling out now but is still by all means a great company."

That was about 2 years ago, and I can no longer stand by that statement since their issues continue to mount with no promise of any being fixed in the near future. To quickly summarise these issues: boring feuds last forever, worthless units stay together far past their expiration dates, a hundred classic tropes are overused every single week to the point of desensitisation and meaninglessness, past-their-prime wrestlers are booked in matches and feuds that only expose their shortcomings, truly promising young wrestlers are wasted in worthless gimmick matches that fail to showcase their unique talents or develop their weaknesses, organically popular wrestlers get heavily over-exposed to the point of losing their charm, entire feuds/storylines/wrestlers that were being focussed on will suddenly be completely dropped from TV with zero explanation, actual star talents are booked in dead-end feuds with absolute dorks, big records/reigns will be built up and then suddenly ended with zero build-up just for the sake of producing a shocking moment, and every specific constellation of match (singles, tag, multi-man gimmick, etc.) ends up more or less following the exact same structure and pace as all others to the point of being completely predictable and uninteresting. It's a shame because AEW has a lot of very good talent on its roster, but Tony Khan still can't figure out how to consistently book them in meaningful feuds or exciting matches, and he's instead wasting probably about 80-90% of them in feuds/with opponents far below the level they deserve. I'll still take AEW over WWE these days, but man, it seems that the line of difference between those two companies grows thinner and thinner with each passing year..."

There are some very good workers in the company and even when most of them are booked on TV for a sustained run (which is far less often than it should be, at the expense of bad workers), the opponents or storylines invariably let them down. It is also far too invested in the nonsensical modern indie wrestling style that just looks ridiculous, a far cry from the "wrestling as a sport" mantra that Tony Khan parroted at its inception. Speaking of Tony Khan, he really needs to accept he needs help running this thing; his booking is bizarre at its best, appalling at its worst, and plagued with wrestling faux pas as a general theme - he has definitely bitten off far more than he can chew in that regard. Collision has brought some credibility to the promotion but as a whole AEW is very hit and miss."

You know a company is in the deep waters when the backstage stuff is more interesting than the on-screen storylines. A couple of weeks ago Tony was criticised for the booking of the women's division and he put Shida and Toni on the main-event that concluded with a title change ; a great decision. But instead of building the division, writing compelling storylines and feuds he put Shida on another main-event with no buildup against Anna. The booking of the supposedly biggest wrestling event as touted by Tony himself is perplexing too. It just seems like he is trying to put as many people as he can on the card with multi-man matches."

After almost 4 years of existence, AEW has come a long way, and established it's own identity in a bussiness governed by a juggernaut since the fall of WCW, timespan in which several promotions emerged and failed to achieve real independence and sustainability. Workrate and quality it's their motto, and thankfully they've been able to remain more or less constant in their presentation, giving us many of the best matches american soil have ever seen. However there's no lack of issues: production tends to be irregular, being good at best and sloppy at worst, which is odd considering the monstrous financial backing they have. At the same time, the female division is severly lacking despite having some of the best women's performers in NA. Finally, while storytelling isn't as dreadful as the IWC mass like to tell, is not by any means perfect. More than once they've failed to sell and capitalize the success of their matches and talent, which leads to stars losing momentum quickly; Storm, Hayter, Page, FTR and Starks are prime examples of this, so I hope this can change in the future if they really want to set themselves as a permanent alternative, because people age. Omega, Bucks, Danielson, Moxley, Punk and many others won't be here foreve. In that vein, they really need to impulse people like MJF to the absolute stardom, hopefully, without losing their edge. Great promotion, great alternative, but imperfect."

Edit: Now with the addition of Collison as a secondary show some of the issues with the bloated roster has diminished but definitely not disappeared. Also will add that some of the booking/matches seems self-indulgent and Tony Khan seems uninterested in booking the Women's Division. Especially during the PPVs, there's often a strange match order that will end up with a burned out crowd. I'd say it's overall a problem with promotions in the US but with AEW you also have this style of always trying to do more, often too much, and it ends up with a lot of overbooked matches that just miss the mark and finish too late. I'd say the recent Ospreay vs Omega 2 is a good example of typical AEW overbooking where it ends kinda flat. I thought their roster looked awful at the beginning and even though Tony Khan signed A LOT of people (certainly too much) I don't feel like the roster has grown that much in terms of star power. There are talented guys in this promotion but pretty often there's a "big signing" that ends up being just another dude in a bloated roster after like 2 months of booking, so I think they have a real problem with building stars even when they sign guys that are confirmed main eventers. It's also pretty hard for their guys to improve that much because they barely wrestle, working once a week (at best because the roster is bloated) is cool for the workers but it also comes with its big negatives when you need to develop the young and less experienced wrestlers. The camera work and production overall is weird and sometimes looks pretty amateur for a promotion with so much money. At the end of the day, even though they can have a few great matches here and there, to me it feels more or less like watching WWE even if a big part of their fanbase acts like it's an alternative. Maybe there's a more indy feel to it but overall it takes a lot of the usual tropes of WWE, with a lot of goofy, overbooked stuff. There are good intentions within this promotion but it just lacks identity, if people love AEW it's okay but personally I don't see what the appeal is, it's too inconsistent for my taste. It's still a young promotion so hopefully they can improve and find a more interesting direction."

Still well worth the time to watch, but also clearly and publicly going through some growing pains as a promotion."

There's hardly anything compelling that makes me want to tune in, whereas late 2021 to early 2022 gave us the Kenny vs Hangman and Punk vs MJF rivalries, Eddie Kingston was prominently featured (as he should be! ) and you'd see guys like Ishii and Suzuki announced for matches on Dynamite. These are the things that made me love AEW, the fact that I'd have a reason to tune in to a weekly show due to ongoing stories but I'd still get fantastic matches, making for a show that felt complete. But right now it's pretty telling that outside of the absolutely incredible Jamie Hayter and The House of Black, your most over act is Jeff Jarrett. Yikes. Even The Acclaimed have been losing steam. AEW still have the best front to back PPV's in the entire business and when they're doing good they're doing great, but right now they aren't there. I'll be tuning in to Dynamite tonight, and I truly hope that AEW can begin to show me something to care for within their weekly programming again. Overall, AEW needs to give the fans more reasons to tune in. Give us genuinely engaging storylines like Kenny vs Hangman, or Punk vs MJF again! If they can strike a balance between storytelling outside of the ring and workrate like they did from DON 2021 to Revolution 2022, they're golden. Hopefully Kota Ibushi finds his way to AEW and they can run back the Golden Lovers vs Young Bucks rivalry. Sticking with an 8/10 for now."

Inability to work with a female roster, very strange creative ideas, mostly boring feuds and the assumption of disgusting behavior in some personalities. TNT title is generally a hot potato, passing from hand to hand. Some indie companies are far superior to AEW in some aspects."

When I first heard about All In I give it a chance because it felt like for the first time in years wrestlers from different companies were pushing for the same goal and the event didnt dissapoint me. At that moment I didnt even knew if rumors existed about a new company but I am glad that I found out about the creation of AEW because since day one I have been a fan and Imo they are a real alternative to anything else on american tv for the first time in decades. I am not going to enter into details about how I feel about the way some people judge this company compared to others, instead of that I want to say that If you are a wrestling fan that enjoys the wrestling aspect maybe you can give it a chance. Main problem of AEW is that they fail and even don't try to create memorable storylines. MJF-Punk, Page- Omega, Mox-Kingston were amazing rivalries, but nothing more. MJF and Punk had potential to have Feud of the Decade, but Punk's pipebomb after All Out destroyed it. MJF dethroned man who was supposed to be on (well deserved) vacation. Eddie Kingston, if it doesn't change immediately, will never leave midcard and pre-shows, he deserves more. Moxley is amazing, heart and soul of AEW, but he really damaged blading in wrestling. Page is amazing, but they have to treat him like a world title level wrestler. Kenny is awesome, but he needs solo run. Chris Jericho, despite being legend, has buried and defeated so many younger (and better) talent. JAS became very stale and boring. Tag team wrestling in AEW is better than in WWE, but not that great. FTR are just amazing, best team in the world. Young Bucks, Will Ospreay, Lucha Bros and others really gave their best to make wrestling look like acrobatics, not a sport. Acclaimed are overrated, Caster's skills are just good and his raps are already boring. Bowens is much better than him. Jurassic Express was cool team. Tragically, we would never see The Briscoes again. Women's wrestling in AEW is poor, at best. Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida are great. Toni Storm is just ok. Britt, Rosa, Jade, Melo aren't good. WWE will always have advantage in that field. Their ROH PPVs were great, but world title isn't special. As much as I like Claudio, Vince was maybe right, he's fantastic wrestler, deserves world title, but he isn't big draw. Their Rampage shows are average, it's just for some "dream matches" and for guys that didn't fit at Dynamite. I like that they make their PPVs feel special by having four of them annually, and they also make special episodes of Dynamite feel special. Their cooperation with Impact has been bad for Impact, they confirmed themselves as second class promotion. Forbidden door was great, but Tanahashi, best wrestler in modern Japanese history, was jobber to Mox and Ospreay's big debut was wasted. Future of AEW? Wardlow has bad booking, Sammy Guevara is just bad, Jungle Boy is ok, and Darby Allin is modern Jeff Hardy (without his problems, i hope). Bryan Danielson's booking is special problem. I understand that they want as much dream matches as possible, but if someone can elevate world title it's him. He lost TOO MANY important matches. I hope that they wouldn't make same mistake with Cole. About references and shots at WWE, it's very low and poor and it became boring. When WWE fires back they do it with style. AEW fans are very disrespectful, even to AEW sometimes, they hate everything that WWE does and overrate every match and show of AEW. AEW is great company, but with wrong approach to bussiness."

Promos are often quite enjoyable, but match quality varies greatly. There is frequently an excess of phony-looking spot wrestling, and compared to the WWE it looks minor league. There is also a stop and start nature to many storylines, as if reading single chapters from a random pile of books. I like that they work with other promotions frequently."

From lucha, to hard hitting Kings Road matches, to a throwback to good ol' southern rasslin, big men slapping man meat, technical wrestling, hardcore wrestling, tag team wrestling, women's wrestling, just the best wrestling. It's refreshing to have a brand that will get over on its own for having a good product and the target audience is the people that will tune in every single week and buy merch, tickets and PPVs. Only a company that is built on good will goes through everything AEW has went through for these past 4 years and still feel like this is their time."

I will say that this promotion came along at precisely the right time for me, as WWE had grown stale and had no compelling stories being told for the last few years. This promotion gave new life to Chris Jericho when Vince McMahon had decided that Jericho was too old to contribute anymore. Cody Rhodes got a place to shed Stardust from his resume. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, while not my favorites, got a chance to perform on a bigger stage. Plus, you have newer stars like Britt Baker, Jungle Boy, Darby Allin (I don't get his appeal, honestly), and MJF.

At first I was happy that ex WWE talent would have a chance to shine and would be able to prove Vinnie Mac and co wrong...that they deserve more than they were handed in the company. But that was all I appreciated from AEW to be honest. The arenas are too dark, Tony Khan hires too many talent, and the wrestlers going extreme in their matches is really poor booking. We all know how blood attracts sharks. So T. K. decided to use wrestlers showing color to attract fans of ECW and the Attitude Era. And fans loved it, despite the medical problems attached to shots on the head (Chris Benoit; CTE, Katsuyori Shibata; brain hemorrhage, Eddie Guerrero; unprecedented blood loss, Perro Aguayo; death...from a 619 paired with the ropes justling, Plum Mariko; death from pre existing head injuries due to wrestling). So to all those AEW sharks out there, I hope you all are really happy with yourself. If a wrestler ever passes in the AEW ring, know that you all are to blame. That is just one of my major isssues with AEW. Another problem would be Tony Khan. Khan being a wrestling fan is a huge problem. When I first heard that Khan was a wrestling fan like so many others, I dismissed it as another promotional strategy to put T. K. in a good light. But what proved to me that T. K. really is a fan, was the signing of CM Punk. Sure the pipebomb promo might have been a work, but Punk's actions after he was fired where not a work, but very realistic. I understand Punk's resentment towards the E, but his major problem was that he was made to compete while suffering multiple injuries coupled with the growth on his back. And the same Punk admitted that he was urged by his wife after his release to check out the growth on his back. It's like saying you hate someone because the person doesn't help you out in a situation that is in the person's control at the moment. But when the situation is in your own control, you forget to help yourself, but are urged to do so? Khan showed all that he is a wrestling fan when he forgot about Punk's relationship with his employers and Punk's realtionship with other wrestlers. Khan signing Punk actually made me laugh a good deal, because I knew that Punk would be trouble, Punk being a Babyface during his feud with MJF was so unnatural, it was like Cena playing a heel in the ring. And Punk has had a bad experience with EVP types in Triple H and Stephanie McMahon so it was obvious he wouldn't get along with the Bucks and Kenny. So all in all, AEW is a company clustered with too much cash, too much talent, no real goal in the wrestling world(apart from beating the E's ratings) and too few storylines. I would give the company a rating of 7.0 points for at least getting a good number of 5 Star matches."

It doesn't help that AEW is run by Tony Khan who is son of a billionaire and a mark who is more concerned in taking shots at the completion on a weekly basics and winning a "Booker of the Year" award from Meltzer rather then improving and growing the company. With the continuing reports of backstage/locker room fighting between talent just shows how poor the company is currently run by it's current CEO/owner and with WWE steadily improving it's product with a new head of creative with Triple H, Tony and AEW needs to get it's act together or the company will become WCW in the early 2000s."

THEN CM Punk & the ROH acquisition happened. As I quote several commenters below "Tony Khan is such a terrible promoter and booker, he's just a mark". When Tony Khan cares more about winning "Booker of the Year" than growing his company and establishing long-term stars stars, that is a red flag. When the ECW Paul Heyman /Brian Pillman shoot segments begin trumping actual angles, rivalries and coherent weekly TV, that is a bigger red flag. When on TV, your homegrown act MJF, calls you a mark and says what a lousy place AEW is to work because Tony is acting like a kid with shiny new toy syndrome on top of every ex-WWE/NXT act that Vince McMahon did not want appearing on TV thus stagnating angles that run way too long with no satisfying ending (Julia Hart, Britt/Jamie, Andrade-HFO-House of Black, Hangman since he lost the World Title, the Dark Order, etc) that's another red flag coupled with flat out stupid booking decisions of your top acts with documented medical concerns in hardcore GCW style matches (let's keep putting Bryan Danielson in ECW/ROH hardcore, anarchy in the arena garbage matches even though he has a history of concussions, speaking of concussions lets let Jeff Hardy attempt to kill himself in throwaway nothing matches on free TV with his brother Matt who is lucky to be walking after his two accidents with Sammy Guevara) Then TK takes all that good will he has built up over 2 years and pisses it away with a purchase of ROH - that NO AEW FAN was clamoring for - with no plan for TV. AEW had 4 titles that actually mattered - AEW World, Womens, Tag, TNT - they all got watered down whe you add in a Trios ttle, All Atlantic, TBS, and SIX ROH titles scattered across 3 hours of TV a week. Rampage morphed into ROH - WCW 1999 Thunder, - ROH is on TV now more than AEW! And the biggest red flag - all of Tony's new hires in 2021 - 2022 have been terrible except (Swerve, & Bryan Danielson) - Keith Lee wrestles like he is a heart attack waiting to happen on top of chucking dudes with no regards for their safety , same with Samoa Joe, Andrade, Malakai, Adam Cole, KOR, Tony Storm, Ruby, Athena (serious WTH happened to her), all of the ex-NXT geeks, Satnam Singh, Sonjay Dutt, Saraya, - just giant misses all around with CM Pepsi Phil being the cherry on top. The entire roster had time and you knew who all the characters were. The top guys regularly lost and faced hardships to conquer. Champions are now given squash matches and no proper feuds, and just exist at the top with zero meaningful struggle. The women's roster is treated like an afterthought. Snapping up every wrestler possible has caused a ridiculous glut in the roster, where segments are rushed and people go months without appearing. Yet numerous wrestlers from other promotions eat up TV time. Combined with the ROH acquisition, there are too many belts and shotgun matches around them. Washed-up workers continue to debut, struggle for three weeks, and disappear (Saraya). Storylines increasingly become repetitive and overly dragged out, with nothing changing at the end (Hayter, possibly Garcia tomorrow). The women's division is as cold as ever. Great wrestlers are not given a chance (Sakura, JD Drake, etc), sometimes due to pushing undeserving wrestlers, sometimes due to an overly bloated roster with only three hours of TV. Top stars vanish off the face of the earth without any announced explanation, especially concerning given that the Young Bucks and Omega form two of the cornerstones of the promotion and probably don't deserve a long-term suspension. Whenever a big story culminates and a wrestler seems to have become a star, they either go back to where they were or become sparsely used (Wardlow, Page). And finally, the world title keeps getting flopped around like it's the DDT Ironman title. The in-ring quality has remained at a high level, which keeps me from saying that AEW is just a bad promotion right now. But a drastic change is needed for the promotion to get back on track."

The right wrestlers are protected. The future stars of the company are mapped out. Tag Team wrestling is extremely important & taken seriously. The Tag Team division in many ways may be the best division of the company. Great at signing useful additions to the promotion. Great at having wrestlers feud with each other, then separated, & brought full circle back to each other. Great at throwing tournaments into the fold (I love tournaments). Every show (Dynamite, Dark, Dark: Elevation, & Rampage) is important just for the sake of mapping out the division rankings. There is no authority figure coming out every week on TV, running their mouth and wasting the audiences' time. Wrestlers are NOT booked to lose Homecoming matches which is an actual smart move. There is always a clear cut winner & a loser to every match (We don't see Countouts & DQ finishes). The Women's division needs work, but is slowly growing. Putting Paul Wight (Big Show) in a match on PPV is not a good move, and they lose a point for booking something like that, as it is obviously just a cheap excuse to rake in casual WWE fans. UPDATED: I have to take a point away from AEW, as of 2022, they have been making some decisions that I have not liked. The handling of the company's original titles have not looked good (the hot potato treatment of the TNT Title & the World Title, and the constant 3 Way Tag Team Title matches), then they introduce new titles which won't help the situation at all and create an even bigger mess. The bending over backwards for ex-WWE wrestlers (CM Punk, and now Saraya as a Women's Division "Autority Figure"). Doing away with the ranking system because of the mess that has been made of all the titles which kinda tells me that the company has lost a sense of order. They have also ripped off the WWE's Money In The Bank concept now by having MJF run around claiming that he can "cash in" his poker chip at any time for a World Title match. Then there is the constant annoying subtle shots at WWE even though they are starting to steal their ideas. It feels like after 3 years of greatness, Tony Kahn's genius is starting to slip a little. I hope that he can rebound in 2023."

Now with AEW there is an alternative and it's a damn great one, one that guarantees at least some excited per week and commonly delivers even more than that. It's both fresh and yet old school, sleek yet gritty. They've still got a long way to go but to have this much talent, a dedicated fan base, number 1 cable ratings and encourage the indies further... All in all, this results in a product that has no identity, no rhyme or reason and, for the fan that is not impressed by workrate, nothing that really captures the imagination. Right now they have an abundance of talent, which often works to their detriment since they're not able to book all of them and often forget about talent when they could be big stars for the promotion. Of the 4 pillars, really only Darby and MJF are actual stars, Sammy is awful as of late with Conti, and Jungle Boy has always been boring. But on the other hand, AEW has a lot of great talent in the singles division like Y2J, PAC, Kyle O'Reilly, Dustin Rhodes, Jake Hager, Adam Cole, Ethan Page, Angelico, Swerve, Powerhouse Hobbs, Kenny Omega, and Kip Sabian. Even in the tag division, we have teams like the Bucks, Lucha Bros, Varsity Blondes, Bear Country, Private Party, Gunn Club, Team 2.0, the list goes on and on. I think if AEW were to just push their more multitalented wrestlers rather than the ones we currently see holding titles, the promotion as a whole would become more cohesive and be able to appeal to a wider array of people. Major respect to them for their conduct during the height of the pandemic: only other wrestlers as fans, face side and heel side, not letting anyone go, and bringing on independent talent with nowhere else to go but AEW dark. The pandemic was really the time where AEW began to form its own identity and become a full fledged promotion, I just wish they'd stop taking shots at WWE 24/7 it's kind of annoying. Other than that, AEW can be actual competition to WWE in the next few years with better booking."

[10.0] "What AEW has managed to achieve since 2019 is truly remarkable. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, otherwise known as The Elite, alongside billionaire Tony Khan have built a new major wrestling federation which proudly wears its influences on its sleeve. Having produced exceptional pay-per-views, the best weekly wrestling show today and having survived a pandemic in their infancy as well as the tragic passing of the late great Brodie Lee, All Elite Wrestling have already cemented themselves in history as a powerhouse in the wrestling industry. In the year of 2022 All Elite Wrestling have purchased Ring of Honor and is about to produce a Supershow alongside New Japan Pro-Wrestling. It's this collaboration in the case of New Japan and benevolence in aiding dying wrestling promotions in the case of Ring of Honor that has been missing in the wrestling world for far too long. At the heart of it all, this is a company which has pro-wrestling fans at the helm, who want the best for their fans and professional wrestling as a whole. All Elite Wrestling brought CM Punk back after a seven year absence. They are building talent for their future - just look at how the likes of MJF, Wheeler Yuta, HOOK, Dante Martin and Darby Allin have connected with the audience - the same can be said for comedy acts like Orange Cassidy and Danhausen. Range in All Elite Wrestling is something to be commended, with technical wrestlers like Daniel Garcia, Lee Moriarty, Bryan Danielson, HOOK and Wheeler Yuta, high-flyers like The Young Bucks, Jungle Boy, Top Flight and Rey Fenix, powerhouses like Wardlow, Will Hobbs, Brody King and Keith Lee, and brawlers like Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, Miro and Malakai Black. This is just scratching the surface of All Elite Wrestling's roster. Although they need to improve on certain fronts - their woman's division is in need of aid and Jim Ross can be distracting, but there is simply too much that they do right that these issues can be momentarily ignored. One can hope for a Stardom partnership to eventually give their female roster some depth - once All Elite Wrestling improves there, they may truly be unstoppable. It certainly feels good to be elite."

Dynamite most of the time is like a "little PPV" in match quality. They always have at least one big storyline, but more important is, that they always have little storylines or at least an explanation for everything they do. Details are always very important and I can understand, that some people think, that a lot of wrestlers have no storyline or that matches are just there, without explanation, because they don't tell everything in the way, the other company does it. No you have to watch closley for every hint, sometimes you even have to watch their social media stuff, but I like this kind of storytelling. You have to think yourself and link stuff together to see everything whats going on."

If you don't like what wwe does, you might still enjoy the dub if you can shake off it's eerie wwe-like atmosphere one invariably encounters. They still rely on TV ratings, so it must resemble the other company in order to compete for that same shared audience; from production (camera direction isn't as atrocious) to structured/scripted shows with usual wrestling segment tropes that must adhere to the norms and limitations of television. The promos are better but still somewhat forced/scripted at times, the stories aren't as laughable (some of the long-term stuff can be pretty fucking good), and the in-ring work is a bit more freeing (still psychologically bankrupt); not the best or the worst you'll see. For my money, only a handful of truly 'elite' talents out there. You shouldn't be watching for the wrestling itself but for everything that happens around it - It's a tv show first, a live wrestling show second...or third. They also must deal with "real life shit" that america has to pretend to care about, which affects booking decisions. I can sometimes dig the tone of the show as "smarter than usual". However, it is still the same soulless, immoral, fickle fans that support this entertainment medium, so, many casuals or potential new fans will be turned off. They have maybe, like...150 wrestlers or something by this point, but still do only 1 show a week. It doesn't take a math genius to figure what that entails in terms of coverage. They will feature some more frequently, but if your favorites are not serving AEW's goals at that time, you can forever complain about it online with others who also know nothing about their goals. In the end, not much you haven't seen before; it's just wrestling for the modern masses."

Extremely hit and miss variety show, with most shows leaning towards the latter. Their pay per views, for the most part, have been good, occasionally very good, but the womens division, overused "comedy" segments, repetition, and booking hasn't been up to scratch, and match quality nowhere near the heights suggested, outside of some excellent tag matches every so often, usually involving The Young Bucks. For me, AEW has lost it's charm, much of which is due to Tony Khan, including going against his word and becoming a weak on screen character and showing nothing of the sort "sports presentation", Kenny/Bucks/Cody social media antics and their own loss of charm, repetitive, weak booking, poor use of new talent, and being everything they said they wouldn't be. The world does not need a WWE lite, it needs an alternative. The ratings have gone down for these reasons; get back on track before it's too late. Of course, the hardcore fans will give you 5* matches or 10/10 for every show, but those that actually care about long term success and can see through the trees, know what changes need to be made. The promotion seems split down the middle at the moment, WWE Lite, and PWG Lite, with a little NJPW sprinkled in, which leads to nowhere. Go one way or the other, or better yet, become what you set out to be. The alternative that brings fans and promotions together to create something great. At the moment, it appears a promotion and fanbase that cannot accept any criticism, and thinks "Everything Is Awesome! " while things go from bad to worse. Get back to what it was in 2019 and revitalise the booking, utilise the talent at hand that know what works in 2022, and find the rewards. As it stands, this is a promotion going downhill and becoming a WWE alternative rather than a true alternative to WWE, yet has tremendous potential if it can stop being the self congratulatory promotion that wants to pat itself on the back, rather than achieve something special. I hope they make the changes necessary before it becomes a sad product that could have been something great. I truly hope Tony Khan checks his ego at the door sooner or later and hires the appropriate bookers and creative team that can get the best from a talent roster of workers."

But I found an interest after the new generation of NXT stars arrived and Balor and Kevin Owens became world champions. I fell in love with the indie scene and particularly WCPW. My wrestling horizons were broadened beyond just the WWE and TNA, I would learn about Japan, Omega and the emergence of The Bullet Club. While the fed destroyed the UK independents, sacrificed its young and nxt stars I found myself more and more disillusioned. But AEW became everything I loved about the WWE, NXT/ the independents. A wrestling revolution that brought back my hometown legend. The second city saint, Cm Punk. It is thanks to this company and this company and all of its parts that so many people love wrestling once more, and for some for the first time. From tales of brotherhood like Cody v Dustin, Dream Matches like Mox v Omega, Danielson v Omega. Blood fueds like Punk v Eddie. Faction warfare, legends, triumphant babyfaces, nuanced characters. AEW is professional wrestling."

Thought it was okay, maybe I'll check out this new weekly show when I get time. Not too bothered about spoilers though. Fast forward a month or so and yup, I was hooked and VERY worried about spoilers. Now my Thursday's consist of staying off social media until I can watch the latest Dynamite. My biggest compliment is they don't treat their fans like idiots and they give everyone a chance to showcase themselves. Dante Martin did nothing but be given minutes in the ring and he got super over. I dread to think how he'd be used in WWE. We've seen AEW give feuds the payoff they deserve (parking lot brawl, lights-out) and these aren't just restricted to the main and upper main card. Thanks AEW!"

They are basically making the same mistake as NXT 1.0, it feels like blatant fan service most of the time and not a serious wrestling product. It's essentially what NXT was from 2016-2019 with the best indie wrestlers in the world putting on good to great matches but also with edgier programs and promos that are not restricted by a PG rating. The EVPs are big marks for themselves and are like Jeff Jarrett and "Reign of Terror" era Triple H before them where they constantly steal the spotlight compared to more deserving wrestlers which hurts the product, but they seem to be reining it in a bit now since Omega dropped the belt. With the return of CM Punk and the additions of Bryan Danielson, Malakai Black and Adam Cole, it is a small step in turning the tide for AEW to be the number one wrestling company in the world, but it's only in its second year of existence so it won't be awhile before it ever topples WWE."

Their roster can get a bit bloated, often leaving talent off the main shows for months at a time, but even shows like Dark remain watchable, as the effort is still put into them. And to me that's just really cool. Number 2) EVERYONE WAS SO HAPPY. Wrestling is supposed to be fun right? Everyone, from the fans to the wrestlers themselves to the staff and the security; EVERYONE just seemed to genuinely happy to be there and be apart of this. So yeah, there are criticisms that can be made about AEW (some more valid than others), but in the age of wrestling we are currently in, nobody has as much going for them as AEW has right now and it's really something special.

Who were and is AEW World Champion since the starting of the company ? Jericho, a true legend I have no problem to say that, Moxley, an ex WWE champ, and Omega, a wrestler that won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. And with these young big talents, like Guevara or Kip Sabian, who are not really known from most of wrestling fans, because they are from the indies ( and they did a great job in them, no problem with that ), they prefer push MJF. Really ? Saying that makes me laugh, but it's the reality. When I started watching AEW, I was in a point of my life as wrestling fan where I was not too much into it, so I really liked the Dynamite episodes, and you can even see a full 10 in my matchguide for an AEW match ( and moreover, it's a Young Bucks match, what I really can't do today, because I grown since Revolution 2020 as a wrestling fan ). I discovered so many promotions in 2020. TJPW. DDT. NOAH, etc. I really started to dislike the AEW product at this period, doing always the same things, Cody being overpushed and egomaniac as one of the biggest guys in the federation, outside of the screen. Then before the biggest point of my comment, let's talk about Tony Khan, who pretends to be someone who saves today's wrestling. But no, he is just choosing to destroy it, piece by piece. AEW's fanbase is awful. The worst fanbase I have ever seen, like it's said in the comment just below me, calling someone who doesn't like their products "WWE marks", and understanding nothing. Now, let's talk about why AEW is destroying wrestling today. They already destroyed Impact so much that I don't even watch it anymore, and for those who knows me well, they know that Impact is a federation that I love from the bottom of my heart since I started to watch wrestling. Omega as Impact champ is a shame and someone who doesn't understand it is simply unable to see the symbolic of this. The Impact shows are just AEW's garbage. They put Private Party here just because they had no storylines in AEW, and because for them Impact is inferior. AEW have adds for their weekly shows in every Impact show, and what Impact has in return ? Nothing, not even having a guy of the company as World Champion. AEW's partnership with Impact destroyed the so meaningful storyline between Swann and Moose. They get exposition ? No, they get destroyed. Like the poor Konosuke Takeshita, one of the best in the world, who went to AEW to be in Dark Elevation, a jobber show. This is the exposition ? Lol. AEW is destroying wrestling today, and almost nobody sees it."

[8.0] "AEW is my favourite North American promotion, partly owing to them having a weekly show. Long has the wrestling world cried out for an alternative to sports entertainment on this scale and I believe that AEW are mostly delivering. The in-ring style has a feel that once would be described as "indie", that now could really just be described as the standard pro wrestling style outside of WWE. The pace is quick and workrate high, rest holds being reserved for ad breaks during Dynamite where the coverage for international audiences remains uninterrupted and the US viewership are treated to the famous "pitcher in pitcher". On this very important facet they are unmatched by their American peers, head and shoulders above other wrestling network television presentations. That said, they are far within the boundaries for valid criticism on many fronts. Production is lacking with sound levels failing to be normalized and important spots missed. Forgivable in their freshman year, less so now. Nepotism within the Nightmare Family has led to bad angles, from bizarre to shambolic, and even at a title level storylines have often gone weeks without address, and too often petered out altogether. Boss Tony Khan is clearly a fan first, and while this is more beneficial than detrimental in my eyes, it does lead to his foot in his mouth too often for my liking, both when on promotional duty and in his post-show scrums. Despite all this, however, to rate it any lower than I have done would be a disservice. AEW have raised the bar for the entire North American scene at the top level. If WWE ran weekly shows the quality of AEW before the latter's inception, we would declare it a new golden era for the fed. It is because AEW is so close to the perfect product that it is so frustrating when they fall short, though the ongoing rebuilding of their previously piss-poor women's division and a recent run of fantastic shows may signal the beginning of the climb to weekly wrestling perfection."

Kenny Omega is arguably the best wrestler in the world and is their current world champion. The women's division started off weak, but in 2021 they've turned a corner by giving time to wrestlers like Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa. You've got the sports entertainment side with Le Dinner Debonair, Mike Tyson, and fun as hell cinematic matches. Finally you've got stars of the future with wrestlers like Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, Britt Baker, and Tay Conti. The only negative here is the treatment of women's matches and being the trash bin from the WWE, I mean you could pick guys in the indies though, why you chose someone who has been released from WWE. Great but overcrowded roster, great pick on who is champion, so far not playing hot potato. Great platform for rising stars as well. Also, the determinant on who's next in line for a championship is based on Win-Loss record, which is what the other company should do. Who would have thought that all of what WWE doesn't do, does AEW better than what WWE could do. A young promotion with an incredible promise. Hoping for a success as well in the future."

More of an adult product (Blood, swearing/cursing, weapons ect) This is a subjective pro I know but for people like me who like to see colour like you would on the street, it's great. Also gives you a great feeling of 'Attitude Era Nostalgia' but with new talent which keeps you coming back, if thats your cup of tea. Great use of veteran talent (i. e Sting, Taz, Jake the Snake, Jericho are all being used as managers/mouth pieces to get younger stars over) Hotbed of young talent (i. e Sammy G, Darby, MJF, Private Party, Adam Page, John Silver are just a fraction to name) Greatest Tag Division in Wrestling (i. e Bucks, FTR, Lucha Bros, Proud & Powerful, SCU, TH2, Best Friends, Dark Order ect) ***Cons (In my opinion)*** Women's division is poor, Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker & Nyla Rose are a few standout names in what has proved to have been a lackluster women's product since AEW's inception. I am not a fan of women's wrestling personally but I must admit at the time of typing this, a few weeks ago, Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa had one of the best matches i've seen in a long time (any gender) so there is hope... Over the top wrestlers/Gimmicks. Jurassic express being a prime example, I LOVE Jungle Boy and Luchasauras' in-ring product but I feel that their gimmick might be seen as too silly to fresh eyes on Tony Khan's fledgling darling. In the main events, something is not clear, whether a parody of the NWA of the late 80s with a strange implementation, or WCW in its worst manifestations. Tag team division is overrated. The women's section has a perspective and is clearly better than people say, but Baker at the head doesn't bode well. The advantage of AEW is that they have a fairly strong mid-card and some creative freedom helps wrestlers, for example, I really like Darby Allin and this is a vivid example of how to use your hobby in this industry. The use of veterans here is also very good, Sting and Christian make me very happy. Shooting and camera angles are their main advantage over WWE, at least you can watch them without fear of getting seasick. But as it is, I'm disappointed, for the most part. Too many people on the roster who don't do much of anything, minimal focus on the women's division, and underutilization of great talent who tend to get relegated to background performers or full-time dark wrestlers. Dynamite's production and camera work can also use a lot of improvement, and I feel like not enough people touch upon this just because of how much worse the WWE Kevin Dunn production is."

The matches often feel either too fast or too slow, often resembling a dress rehearsal instead of an opening night act. I watched the first show until the Stadium Stampede match where I checked out. It should not have taken Baker vs Rosa to open AEW's eyes to the abilities of their female performers. It truly is utterly disgraceful that they can pretend to care about their female wrestlers when they are hardly featured in meaningful storylines since the debut of Dynamite. Hopefully they will now see that the problem with the women's division isn't the wrestler's fault, rather it is their creative team's fault."

[6.0] "As we approach a year and a half of AEW TV I think it's worth giving an initial appraisal. While absolutely beloved in the west, the reality is that AEW for many of the original fans of the core group of wrestlers was false advertising. It was purported to be something akin to a western take on New Japan featuring all those great work rate guys from the indies and the elite. It was going to take back wrestling for the fan and the wrestler. To some extent it did accomplish this. It's clear that working in the environment is better for the wrestlers, but it failed on a sports presentation front. AEW is essentially a Super Indy on TV. A mixture of old school 90s wrestling with modern work rate guys and a tongue in cheek modern Indy-like feel. For simplicity sake WCW crossed with PWG. Or Perhaps even more simply a better WWE that is more meta. I did not really want to see American TV Wrestling, I wanted to see a true evolution. Maybe the true evolution is not a revert to it's more sports flavored origin, but doing WWE's style better with twists wasn't exactly what I was clamoring for. AEW as whole is incredibly hit or miss. Miro and Kip doing some weird twitch gamer hype beast gimmick is a miss, but paired the Trent and Chuckie T I enjoyed. They have had moments of true brilliance like the Hangman and Omega feud, or the first Moxley vs. Omega, but then they had stuff like the original Dark Order presentation. I know precisely what I want from a wrestling company thanks to watching AEW. It's compelling stories featuring convincing characters that pay off with great matches, and championships that mean something. And AEW can achieve this on a rare occasions, but not as consistently as I would like. One of my major complaints is the failure of AEW to deliver a truly great overall PPV. They have not hit that for me yet, which is probably not the case for most people. The closest they came for me was DoN 2019, but the only truly great match was Dustin vs. Cody. Revolution 2020 had an amazing run on TV up to the PPV, but the PPV itself was quite weak. They sometimes wait far too long to build up meaningful feuds in time for the PPVs this has been a major issue. All Out 2020 is a prime example of this. The women's division is also a mess. The roster itself has improved a lot with additions like Leyla Hirsch, Thunder Rosa, and Serena Deeb, but has some major problems. Most of them just aren't good enough especially compared to their contemporaries in NXT which arguably has the best women's roster in the world and this coming from someone who watches a ton of Joshi. AEW has good aspects, but it is plagued with problems mostly stemming from issues with consistently delivering a good product."

First, this company doesn't keep any promises such as Tony Khan not becoming an on-screen character, the presentation being focused on pro wrestling, and better opportunities for workers. Tony Khan has now become a prominent character in the Impact invasion angle, the presentation is almost similar to WWE's (The Dinner Musical with MJF and Chris Jericho, Broken Matt Hardy teleporting everywhere, and inconsistent storylines), and most workers are currently in the same position as they were before. This company is also reckless when it comes to injuries, Alex Reynolds and Matt Hardy's concussions were left untreated. The overall roster is a mess as they have too much talent that gets overshadowed by some other equivalent talent. One unique thing that this company has is it's focus on Tag Division. The tag matches are so ggod, though sometimes theyre spammed throughout a dynamite card. The big PPV matches always deliver. Weekly show Dynamite is satisfactory most of the time. They deliver good genuine (not forced) comedy. Overall they connect well with the fans and that's very important. I'd also like to see more stars being made. They've done a good job with Darby Allin, for example, but I think to keep putting Cody and Kenny Omega in the spotlight is a mistake, even though they are super talented. They should probably be used to get new stars over, otherwise it looks like the company VPs are booking themselves to the top. Jim Ross should be used as a senior journalist type - someone who occasionally will call main event matches, and will interview talent backstage and in-ring. For all of the things that one can nitpick, Tony Khan and the creative minds behind the promotion have put together the most exciting wrestling program in the US since WCW's Monday Nitro in the mid 1990s. Anyone complaining about the in-ring style is missing out on what makes AEW so unique. It's a criticism that has held wrestling back for far too long and did so much damage to promotions like IMPACT and WCW over time. AEW should feel no need to compete with the WWE and no fan should expect that, especially from an in-ring perspective. The criticisms of the women's division are completely valid. However, while AEW cannot compete with the WWE, the WWE still does contract the VAST MAJORITY of well trained, high level wrestlers (and trainers) in the US which left AEW with very few options to build their roster. The usage (or lack-thereof) of the women's division is where I would like to see some improvement. My other criticism stems from the "sports entertainment" aspects of the show. Some segments and characters have drifted too far away from the realm of professional wrestling. While I realize not everything has to appeal to me, I have also found AEW's attempts to appeal to casual/new fans as off-putting. From Tyson to Shaq, all of these attempts at generating interest haven't hit with me. I think their best attempt at this was Snoop Dogg's feature, which is all I'd ever want from a celebrity appearance on a wrestling show. AEW Dark has been a great proving ground for both female and male talents. I look forward to seeing a third hour of programming. One element I'd love to see added would be a trios championship, as I feel AEW's roster is built for such an idea. Working relationships with IMPACT and other US independent promotions could open up the door for greener talent on both sides of the roster to get reps and improve down the line. I firmly believe the pandemic hindered much of what AEW had planned for 2020 yet their adaptations were excellent for such a new promotion. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that no promotion was better booked in 2020. I truly appreciate their ability to keep me interested week after week. While I've found myself disagreeing with different elements of the show, they've consistently found a way to hook me back in. With an absolute wealth of young, albeit inexperienced, talent I believe All Elite Wrestling is a promotion that has defied critics expectations and will continue to grow and improve over time. Their newly established relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling will only solidify this belief. The promotion's approach to the wrestling business as a whole should only contribute to its positive standing with fans as they exist to elevate wrestling as a whole, NOT to buy up everything around them and be the only show in town. If for no other reason, that is why I personally enjoy AEW so much."

The wrestlers who get over feel amazing, and it's easy to root for wrestlers like Orange Cassidy or boo shit-disturbers like MJF. However, there's been some missteps: the women's division gets little to no screen time and is still more of a sideshow to the main event, culminating in some really bad matches and angles (baker vs swole; the nightmare collective). Sometimes, there's repetitively slow angles (Sting shows up for 5 weeks doing the exact same thing). But often enough, the show focuses on creating new and amazing things, or at least old things that have enough shine that you love to see them."

It reminds me a lot of the "Ruthless Aggression" period in WWE. I think less is more, so AEW's 3-4 PPVs per year makes you way more hyped than say WWE's 12-14 PPVs per year, with more focused build-up, thus more meaning. AEW do however have their own issues, like every promotion, nothing is perfect. AEW claim they want to be Sports orientated and even created a "Rankings" system, however they do not always stick to the rankings and they often appear wrong during a wrestlers introduction. Every commentator seems to have different names for almost every move, which is irritating. Talking of moves, AEW wrestlers often use other AEW wrestlers finishers within their standard movesets, which for me kind of ruins that finisher (would be like Ishii giving Okada a Rainmaker onto a chair and not going for the cover as its a standard move, then Okada winning with a regular Rainmaker). AEW talk/reference WWE far too often. AEW have the worst Women's division of any "major" promotion in the USA. I think AEW had a far better 2019 than 2020 and their PPVs may be getting weaker and weaker as time goes by."

Between their desperately neglected women's division, over-focus on go-nowhere tag team wrestling, predictable booking, repetitive matches, and infuriatingly frequent use of unnecessarily complex tandem offense that takes a comically long time to set up, I've just grown tired of the "Elite. " They have a lot of fantastic talent signed, and the idea of an NWA title being defended on Network television was fun, briefly, but their shortcomings are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore, and their disinterest in taking criticism in any way other than as a personal attack makes them frustrating to even think about some days."

It suffers from many flaws, such as a piss-poor womans division and the urge to push former WWE talent over indy stars (yes, WWE have done this before but at least they try to balance it out), and it? s toxic fanbase, praising them for things that they would shit on WWE for. Saying that, though, I think it is an excellent company that serves as a brilliant alternative to WWE. The in-ring action is flashy (though, I would like it if they keep the high-flying spots down to a minimum) and most of the storylines they put out are amazing. They also carry a host of great characters, like Chris Jericho, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, SCU, Orange Cassidy and many others. And their tag team division? Fucking incredible! Overall, they may not be perfect but AEW is a fantastic company that has a good chance of reaching, and maybe even surpassing, the heights that WWE reached in its prime."

Positives, in ring work is really strong, promo's and vignettes are top notch, the tag team division is the best in the world. They got a great mid card, and are creating young stars for the future perfectly. Main event is always strong. Chris Jericho is having one of his best runs of his career in AEW. They don't rush through feuds and build slowly in some cases. Their PPV's have all been strong to date, think having only 4 a year is a smart idea. Dynamite for me has been the best wrestling show for a couple of months now, and the quality of matches that show produces is scary. I love seen Schiavone back on commentary, he's clearly loving this second lease on life in wrestling. Excalibur is great. Also given the talent creative freedom is a smart move. Negatives, Women's division isn't the strongest. But that's going to take time to build really as WWE and Impact have a good chunk of the best women. talent signed down to big contract. I think that might be a long term build before it reaches the quality of the other divisions. Jim Ross can be hit and miss, his grumpy man act does sabotage some Dynamite's at times. They could win a lot by living by themselves as completely independent compare to everything around them. Especially when the great majority of their roster is composed of ex-WWE wrestlers or rejects from this federation. On the other side, I feel like all I can see about them is a great band of friends, who separated in two big groups, and they take all decisions about them, do their own match where they have fun between them, give themselves titles etc...

The main event scene is similarly predictable, but it being a new company, I think this is a good thing, as it develops prestige for the AEW World Title. I start with the negative just in hopes that these issues are addressed; AEW has largely been very fun. Strong points include great promo work, especially at the main event level; a deep midcard with a lot of young guys on the verge of stardom; high quality wrestling, with every style represented (except British catch, so far); and by far the best tag team division I have ever seen."

Bisher macht man hier fast alles richtig!"

The production is okay, but it seems like they have audio issues every show. Wish they would stop cutting to "reaction face video" guys in the stands (plants? ) so often. If JR says "the safety of the athletes is paramount" during a ref check spot one more time I'm going to vomit. [7.0] "So, here we go. AEdub.

"It's only redeeming quality is that it has Kenny Omega. Everything else is complete garbage in my opinion and will easily become WCW 2. 0. It has barely anything to it and it's filled to the brim with spot monkeys who put on constant spots and flips to entertain the crowd."
