[7.0] "Good surprise for a expected "mid" multi team ladder match (not even a great fan of those). Insane spots and great work by Bate/Dunne and DIY. Waller/Theory SD Titles win feels too rushed as I feel like they could be good underrated champions (I really hope that Bate/Dunne can win these and will provide great defenses due to their in ring talent and great chemistry), but in general the match feels too flat to bring justice to every participant here"

[7.0] "Good match albeit a long match. Hobbs and Fletcher would make a good team right now while Davis is still out and if Kyle wasnt stuck with the ROH TV title. He has now taken losses to Ospreay, Orange Cassidy, Chris Jericho, and Claudio Castagnoli as champion with his only notable wins being in foregone conclusions while champion. Im not saying he needs to be beating these pairings but booking him while a champion to lose to bigger names that dont care about his title is underwhelming. Good showings from all four in spite of the continued largely bad booking of ROH titles on AEW TV."

[3.0] "An episode brought to you by squash and some questionable booking. They just had Cole Karter and Griff win at Supercard while Cole cant beat Daniels who largely only loses. Rhett and Kyle would be a cool main event if there was any kind of build whatsoever after Rhett has been booked poorly by Tony the last two years whenever they use him, which he deserves much better then."

[5.0] "Decent match. This is a very simple but effective match, from a structural standpoint. The heels get heat on Naomi, Bianca gets the hot tag, heels cut her off and get a second set of heat, hot tag to Jade Cargill for the finish. It's nothing revolutionary, but it achieves its goal well enough. The babyfaces come across and dominant, especially Bianca and Jade, and the heels get the advantage through some pretty good double and triple teams. It's a decent match with a very simple goal, but not necessarily worthy of a WrestleMania spot, feels a lot more like a TV match"

[6.0] "Good opener, based in pure wrestling and technique in a pretty decent way. Both men did a good job with the holds and counters through the match, as well as Rafa Flores added a bit of character work by showing himself tired and overwhelmed by Zozaya's superiority in technical wrestling, despite ultimately finding a way to defeat him by submission, which I found a bit anticlimatic due to the lack of building of the spot. Anyways, it was a nice opening match, quick, amusing, full of well done technical wrestling (*** 1/4)"

[7.0] "If I could give this match a 7.5 I would as I thought it was a skosh better than their gripping singles match in December of 2022. Nicely paced with zero fat, and possessing some nicely dramatic moments sprinkled in, this rattles on like an enjoyable 5STAR match. Also, it's also further evidence that Tam is at her best when having tight, straight wrestling matches that restrict her from engaging in overlong matches with hammy and crowd-killing theatrics."

[6.0] "Forgettable Rumble, not enough competition to be as consistent as expected. Some great moments (Bron Breakker, the JD McDonagh punishment) but some awful ones (Jimmy Uso tryna check everyone, R Truth skit during women's Rumble was way better than men's). Fairly predictable ending with CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes advertized since the beginning of the PLE, should have brought more importance to some upper mid-carders or main event worthy ones like Drew McIntyre, and CM Punk seems unable to be on the same level as Rhodes in a potential Big 4 PLE main event despite having significantly less ringtime"

[5.0] "Yurika Oka debuted in 2019 alongside Saya Kamitani, Unagi Sayaka, Saya Iida, MIRAI, Haruka Umesaki, and Suzume, amongst others. Yet, she still wrestles soberly like a first-year rookie, lacking individuality in her moveset - largely dropkicks, bridging suplexes and roll-ups. I think Sareee did the best she could under the circumstances. The crowd was lively, but in terms of content it was a rather generic affair."

[6.0] "This was Jericho's best match since his match with Cody in 2019, and probably the best he's looked since wrestling Omega at Wrestle Kingdom. Jericho went for a more traditional heel performance of his which was perfect against Kingston's fiery babyface work. Immediately, Kingston suplexes Jericho right on his head getting the crowd hot and setting the tone for the match. There was a lot of aggression and they worked a good pace. Some of the strikes weren't great, but nearly all the big moves were. There were some neat suplexes all match long. I'm not a fan of Kingston doing every AJPW tribute in the book because it feels like that only appeals to 'smart' marks and it's just too excessive. Perfect way to turn Jericho full heel when he denied the handshake. ***1/4"

People were paying to see this garbage bro, I wonder how they would react to an Ospreay match, imagining this was the only way to keep me entertained. I am jealous in a way because people were entertained by anything at that time."

[7.0] "I can understand why people like this so much, but for my taste it was more like a... demonstration performance, I guess. I'm glad to see ZSJ in DDT though I wanted his match against Chris when Brookes was a champion, but anyway. There were some fresh interactions thanks to Zack, and for me the most enjoyable thing here was comedy stuff (poor Pokotan). Technically pure wrestling was great, and it was obvious, but not emotionally even though some interactions between Sabre and Ueno were good. I hope Zack comes back for a better perfomance, not just demonstration."

[5.0] "This was a good match but adding another person to it halfway through really brought it down. The action did pick up but it didn't make sense. Either the person should have been in from the start or should have picked a more opportune time to join if MITB rules apply. Seemed to be booked more to pop a moment than tell a logical story **3/4"

[6.0] "This was a good match but not a great one. They relied on gimmick rather than their strengths as wrestlers. They could've had a heated scrap with strikes and big moves with gimmicks on the side, but instead they focused on the gimmicks and put the wrestling on the side. They still had a better gimmick match than 90% of 'em nowadays, so I'll give them credit there. They used the weapons well and had some viciousness behind their stuff, but this was a rare opportunity to do something completely different in the main event of a modern PPV. A 10 or 15-minute heated brawl instead of a methodical hardcore match would've been killer. ***1/4"

[4.0] "I never found anything that Shannon Moore did to interest me. I even watched his TNA run and he was just weird and nothing more. ECW gimmick was the worst. In 2003, Paul Heyman tried to give him a chance to become a star on Smackdown after Matt Hardy jumped to Raw (before that, he was the punchball of the team). It did not work, because Moore did not show any charisma. Not really bad in the ring, but he is one of the cruiserweights that never got me hyped for anything. He missed his chances!"

[6.0] "There was a very good sequence between VENY and Iroha in the middle portion of the match, but most of time it was about Oka trying to punch above her weight and hang in there with more established and experienced wrestlers. Another impressive performance by her, but again she got pinned by Iwata."
242714.04.2024
23:39
[6.0] "Decent match given the expectations from the Superstars involved, some good multiman-match spots but the majority consists of 1v1 with turnovers between the wrestlers, sometimes it feels like a tag team match rather than a true Fatal 4 Way (or at least Triple Threat) Another Solo Sikoa-induced Roman victory that will be forgettable, but still quite good to watch after a nice Rumble match to maintain good quality of the PLE"

[7.0] "A fine wrestler which changed many gimmick before finding the one perfect for him. I liked him in tag team in WCW, but my favorite Rikishi monster is as a monster heel in 2000, when there was Armageddon and he was a legit contender to the WWF Title. He had some trouble with weird gimmick in the middle '90s but after becoming Rikishi it was fine for him. I enjoy his babyface team with Scotty 2 Hotty and his dance moves after a match. Also, Stinkface is a fantastic babyface move that has been copied from many others."

[8.0] "Pacing was fucked, but the middle to end portion of this match, where the crowd is on fire and everyone's exchanging finishers was infectious. For that alone, I think it's a decent match. I don't know if I could ever watch this again, but this was a good showing for Roman and the Rock, who had surprisingly good chemistry against Seth and Cody. Clearly just a prelude to Night 2, but the ending did sell you on the fact that Cody is facing impossible odds the following night."

But I found it a totally acceptable match, and Mariah May is pretty damn great. Enjoyed the "Timeless" Toni Storm appearance afterwards as well."

[8.0] "Match of the night, and possibly the entire event. Sami and Gunther put on a great match despite questionable circumstances surrounding the storyline leading up to it. Sure, this should have been Gable's moment and easily could have been (their stories are interchangable) but I'm not going to knock Sami. He sold incredibly here and, as always, played the underdog role perfectly since I legitimately never expected him to dethrone Gunther. The El Generico turnbuckle brainbuster was awesome to see as a finish and I hope it makes a return as a rarely-used super-finisher."

[] "Why does Tony Khan do these Battle of the Belts? He does one of these 4 times a year and for pretty much all of them there isn't a build to any of the matches usually involving unimportant belts or if it is a major belt it is a match with a wrestler there isn't close to a regular. The matches even feel uninspired as well usually either serviceable or just plain bad. It feels like Warner randomly 4 times a year has this empty hour spot and Khan just says ok I guess I'll take, but I'm not going to try to make anything special for it. Are you sure you want me to take it? Yeah sure its better than showing another hour of reruns back to back."

[1.0] "Historic moment bluh bluh bluh. Based solely on my enjoyment and nothing else this was truly terrible. If someone has different feelings or experienced that moment as it happened then I get it, but for someone my age it was some very simple moves executed in the most slow way possible. Hogan did a tiny bit better than I thought but his selling and moves against Andre were laughably bad. There were two or three cool moments in this match including the bodyslam and surprisingly the camera shots were nice, anything else aged terribly and was some of the most boring stuff in wrestling."

[4.0] "Another match on the Wrestlemania Card that really feels like it should've been on Smackdown or Raw. Just nothing interesting here other than being a showcase for Jade Cargill, who looked good both aesthetically and in the ring. They're really doing a good job of building her up as a dominant force, which I think absolutely needs to be done if you ever want to successfully take the title away from Ripley. The actual match was slow, a little messy, and all around forgettable."

[4.0] "Nothing mind blowing, just a few acceptable matches and some underwhelming ones. Jericho vs X-Pac was an action-packed fun contest and the Steel Cage Match was quite original and enjoyable, plus Stone Cold's return was definitely the highlight. Everything else though was meh. The opener was nothing special, Tazz vs Lawler had a weird Raven debut and the Hardcore Title bollocks was an unwatchable chaos. Eddie vs Rikishi made no sense booking-wise and Triple H vs Angle suffered from it being heel vs heel. And the main event had one of the most exciting final minutes I have ever seen, but everything up to this point was meh, including the dodgy executed false finish. Not the best show overall."

[0.0] "Did Solo produce this match? An absolute failure of epic proportions considering how the Usos have been built up as major players. We're told this is a match they've wanted to do since childhood, and that would probably lead you to think that they could have pulled off something more epic than a rushed flurry of superkicks followed by some in-ring community theater. Both guys have charisma that way, way overrides their in-ring ability, but I never expected a match between them to be this bad. And Jey wins... leaving little to no room for interest in a rematch. I didn't feel anything from this other than confusion and disappointment. Feels like a massive waste of potential."

It was slow and a bit chaotic - just a typical not thought through Fatal 4 Way. And the false finish was executed so poorly that I imagine the crowd had no idea what happened at all since they didn't even bother to explain anything to the live audience."

Loved Gargano and Ciampa getting the shit beat out of them, and Ciampa's bump off the ladder itself was incredible. Splitting the titles is an odd decision, but we'll see how it pans out. Not a fan of Waller and Theory grabbing a set of titles, but Miz and Truth was a choice that popped the crowd, so I can get behind it."

Why is he putting up a decent fight against Joe despite hardly featuring on TV all that much? Dustin is a world class worker, but seeing him randomly inserted into things just lowers his stock in my eyes. A very strange main event."

[0.0] "This was a tough watch. There's only one match of any quality on this show, amid an endless parade of mediocrity. We open with a nothing match between Rick Martel and Koko B. Ware, and if that doesn't set the tone for tonight, I don't know what will. Demolition then won the World Tag Team Titles off of the Colossal Connection in a dull match featuring a largely immobile Andre. We then got a short and pointless match between Hercules and Earthquake. Brutus Beefcake then proved that even Mr. Perfect cant have a good match with everyone. Somehow, the WWF decided it was a good idea to let Roddy Piper paint himself half black for his match with Bad News Brown in the moment that led to this show's 0 rating. The Hart Foundation squashed the Bolsheviks before the Barbarian had a short and uninteresting match with Tito Santana. Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire had a bad mixed tag team match with Randy Savage and Queen Sherri. in the biggest disappointment of the night, the Rockers had a bad match with the Orient Express, cancelling out their strong effort at the Rumble. Jim Duggan had a dull match with Dino Bravo before Ted DiBiase and Jake Roberts had another unexciting match for the Million Dollar Title. The Big Boss Man had a short match before Rick Rude and Jimmy Snuka stunk the place out. Finally, the Ultimate Warrior defeated Hulk Hogan in the Match of the Night, where both the World Heavyweight Title and the Intercontinental Title were on the line."

It played to ZONES' strengths, as she's only good at showcasing her physical power, it gets good reactions and it's fun to watch though, so who cares."

[7.0] "Many people question as to why he is in the hall of fame, since he wasn't ever really a top guy and to people outside of the Golden Era don't really see him and think one of the greats. The thing is though, if you actually look him up, he was honestly pretty good, just was working during a time where someone like him didn't really belong in terms of his style of wrestling (gimmick wise oh he definitely fit). Charisma wise he was fucking excellent, he was a good worker, and most importantly, Frankie is one of the best birds in professional wrestling. But I think what got him in the hall of fame is Piledriver. Dude, he's quite literally the highlight of The Wrestling Album II, because he sang his fucking heart out."

[7.0] "This wasn't a strong Rumble in terms of star power with Undertaker and Steve Austin in particular noticeably absent because of injury and this also made it where The Rock and The Big Show was the only two wrestlers in a main storyline so it was obvious who was going to win. There was some fun here though with Rikishi getting a strong showing where he gets several eliminations and has a fun moment where he dances with his Too Cool buddies before he eliminated them. You had some strange moments where Kaientai kept interrupting the match and getting thrown out the ring with Jerry Lawler being a total prick in commentary where he takes joy in seeing Taka's head bounce off the floor where he ended up with a concussion. The main feud with the Rock and The Big Show was pretty good and it's most remembered for the controversial ending where The Rock gets a reversal when Big Show tries to throw him out and gets the official win and then in the next weeks Big Show turns heel proving The Rock was eliminated first. This was WWF making do with what they had, but it was entertaining all things considered."

[6.0] "This was a good main event. I am not a big fan of walking through the crowd trading blows section the match opened with, but what came after it was enjoyable. I still find Kaito Kiyomiya to be lacking in something, it felt like he didn't do a lot other than upper cuts, dropkicks and shining wizards, it never really feels like he is laying anything in. There's just something about him where it doesn't feel like he's being his authentic self and he lacks the kind of real intensity I see in someone like Kenoh. Kenoh's kicks and moves as usual looked great."

[5.0] "It really suffers from the fact that it's basically a heel vs heel scenario and the woman they're fighting about is also a heel. They did a good job with what they had, planned some nice spots and Angle looked fantastic, but you couldn't get emotionally invested in this love triangle. Also the finish is weird - why does Stephanie need to get involved since Hunter has Kurt already beaten and the low blow isn't necessary?"

[8.0] "The main event drags it down a little - but this is a really fun card with a lot of intriguing booking that could only happen in 2003 WWE. Tajiri & Rey is sublime stuff - the ideal opener and some peak WWE cruiserweight action - my MOTN. It's a shame the A-Train push petered out by 2004 because he was just starting to get damn good and his chemistry with Benoit was obvious. Gowen was fascinating to watch in his short time there with some excellent high-spot wrestling displayed and Matt Hardy got a great one out of him here. Bashams match wasn't up to too much but it was inoffensively short and Bradshaw looked good throughout. Unhinged 2003 Vince worked for me for the large part and I did not expect to be as into his match with Stephanie as I was. Angle & Cena have a pretty exciting contest, with Cena of course rapidly improving and growing in stature - probably the first "let's go Cena" duelling chant that would become a staple in later years, just of course with the roles reversed with him as the heel - dope match. Show & Eddie might be one where the feud is more memorable than the match but Eddie's charisma and bumping kept it very entertaining regardless. The main was a bit disappointing knowing the greatness that Taker & Lesnar were capable of together - not a bad match bell-to-bell but the length and the pole gimmick damages the decent match that they were having. Overall though, great period for SmackDown in the early single-brand PPV era. An extremely easily watchable and enjoyable show to me."

[5.0] "Ahmed Johnson had a great presentation in the WWF where he had a unique look and fans loved him because of his raw intensity and his ridiculous promos even though you could never understand a word he was saying! Unfortunately his main drawback was that he was not good to watch in the ring. He ended up with a bad reputation for hurting his opponents, was injury prone and looked prone to gassing very early in matches. His most enjoyable feud was with Faarooq and the Nation of Domination which peaked with a chaotic street fight where he teamed with LOD at Wrestlemania 13. Easily the second best match on that show."

The double guillotine from Future Shock sent the crowd into a frenzy, but the Bucks came out on top. One of the many reasons why Steen Wolf is one of PWG's best-ever cards."

The result was notable as Abdullah ended the Destroyer's impressive title reign."

[5.0] "This got roughly 9 minutes which is the usual for women's matches on AEW TV but they tried to pack in a match longer than that. It's been a recurring theme in the women's matches that they stall through the commercial break then just hit a bunch of big moves and no sell for the epic finale. Same deal here. How about just give them the time? Or realize not every match warrants fighting spirit spots? Either one."

There were some sick bumps on the apron and after Mox started bleeding a lot it turned to be really stiff and thrilling toward the end. I just hope that whoever 'll win the belt 'll be NJ's next ace. ****1/2"

[6.0] "I thought this was a fine match that delivered where it should have, particularly in the final part where Vader makes a run in and messes up when he accidentally hits Mankind with the chair. It's there to continue the storylines all interconnecting here, but I also have to say that at times because of how odd these two tag pairings are it does feel a bit all over the place. It's also another example of the level Ahmed Johnson was at compared to everyone else as he looked gassed early!"

[6.0] "A solid match of power vs. speed with JTG having some impressive offense on Kari managing to cut him off at each opportunity despite Karis attempts to catch a break in JTGs momentum. Kari managed to wear JTG down enough to score some offense unable to put JTG away. Ref bump ended up costing Kari the match. Kari managed a nice kickout off a spinning slam by JTG before JTG strung together a string of offense finishing with a Neckbreaker out of a Razors Edge position for the win."

[5.0] "The match had a great start because of the intensity from Ahmed Johnson, but the match ended up feeling about 5 minutes too long as it's pretty much a carry job from Goldust with a few too many rest holds. This was a very controversial storyline and it doesn't really hold up very well and it goes too far with the gay panic stuff where you would see Goldust fondling him mid match. Dustin Rhodes put everything into this character and while that is commendable, it does affect the quality of the match in a negative way. The strong win at the end did a good job of making Ahmed Johnson look like a potential main event player as you could see the WWE was high on him at the time."

In the meantime she hasn't looked particularly good or impressive in other matches so her reign has been uninteresting but hopefully now she can get it going. HOPEFULLY. Also VENY hasn't had that memorable a year and a half so I am pleased she went all out for this one. Good stiff shots and bullying Mika to get the crowd behind her. ****"

[2.0] "I don't think I've ever experienced such a disconnect between how crazy a crowd's reaction was for a wrestler versus my own. Hayata is so dull and I just don't get him at all. This was one of the worst NOAH title matches I've watched in a while. I also didn't enjoy seeing Jack trying to use the title belt as a weapon, the low blows, etc, I feel like his work in the rest of the match showed that he's above those kinds of cheap tactics. It doesn't really fit his character. Hayata cheated to win, and cheated me out of 15 minutes of my life spent watching this match."

[4.0] "Match score: 6. Booking score: -2. Total score: 4. Match work was good. The matches were pretty competitive however, I asked this before and I now ask this again: What is the POINT of this show if YOU DO NOT HAVE TITLE CHANGES on it. With this show in particular even if you plan on Roderick Strong holding onto the International title for a while you still could have had Romero win the Eliminator match and lose the title match later thus creating something to work with even if you were trying to build a potential Strong vs O'Reily match down the line. You could use this as an opportunity to build to a triple threat match for the International title between Strong, O'Reily and Romero. At this point BOTB is becoming too predictable and not worth watching. BOOK BETTER TONY KHAN. START BOOKING SOME TITLE CHANGES ON BOTB."

[] "So, I've decided to go back and watch the "Downfall of WCW" as it happens, week by week, as it's roughly the 25 year anniversary and talking about WCW is in vogue. Given this I thought I'd start here, the first Nitro after Spring Stampede '99. The first half of this show is largely... nothing. To be kind it's largely recaps and promo work with matches that primarily exist to further storylines. Rey v Juvi starts to get going before the legs get cut off by double run ins, and Rey's postmatch beatdown isn't even covered because it goes to commercial. Hugh v Bam Bam is an atrocious heatless "hardcore" match, which feels like a slight against Bam Bam's legacy. The third match is an angle that exists solely to pack in more promo time. And while many of the promos are solid on this show, there's just SO many of them that they kind of all blend together. I do like the short backstage segment showing that Kidman was late to the arena, thus justifying him not saving Rey. It does need to be stated that this is the show where they set up Charles Robinson vs Gorgeous George. I... I dread so much of WCW. Kidman v Psicosis is where the show picks up, and honestly the match would feel decently at home in 2024, though it never really hits 2nd gear. Booker looks good here, though Rick's lost a lot and sadly the match ends in shenanigans. The Goldberg squash is surprisingly good, the headlock takeover rolled thru into kneebar is a nice touch in what's largely Goldberg no selling and breaking this guy. Sting vs Flair is Sting vs Flair. It's exactly what you expect, exactly what the crowd wanted. I can't complain about it. It's the kinda thing that keeps people coming back. Is it *technically* good? No, Ric's lost a step. Is it entertaining? Quite. Though I've seen very few of these matchups, so possibly with time it feels trite. And your main event. DDP vs Scott. With Roddy Piper on commentary. And as a quick aside to commentary, for as much hasn't aged well, or the Surge Product Placement, Tony and Bobby seem invested. They take the piss out of things, but it feels like people still care. But back to the match... god is it "present". Scott threw Kimberly out of a moving car, so there's hate here between two champions, but DDP just doesn't feel right as a "Babyface in Peril" to me, and Scott while not fully immobile, is still fully "Big Poppa Pump" and there's a lot of showboating, powdering, etc. Finish is Kimberly doming Scott with a chair into a Diamond Cutter so while it makes sense... your presumably face world champ just won via cheating. I've seen far worse than this show, it's worst sin is that stretches are boring. I know I'm in line for a waterslide of quality, but this is the kinda show I can get why people tune back in for. Even if just for the last 75 minutes. 6/10"

Main event was at least pretty good as a replacement for Low Ki/Jacob Fatu. Crowd was wasnt the best but they werent bad."

[6.0] "It was really original - Jeff escapes the cage first, so Matt has to compete in a Handicap Match basically and Edge & Christian don't let Jeff back in the ring. The scenario though changes later with Christian being out and Hardys uniting in the ring by using the ladder. So overall the idea was cool and it was cleverly executed, but stil not my cup of tea."

Rukiya is maybe the most boring finalist, Yuni was a better choice. Rukiya and Toy tried to make something fine, I felt this, but even with my love for Kojima I didn't really enjoy this match. I'm glad that he won, but I'd prefer to see Koroku against him."

[6.0] "A pretty action packed four way match. Some nice mixed of one on one exchanges as well as moments involving all four including a unique tower of doom seeing Super Beast hit a German Suplex to send the other three down. Crowd was a bit quiet but being an afternoon show on a busy weekend makes that not the most surprising. Distraction finish on Camacho giving Prime the win brought it down a bit. 6-6.5."

[9.0] "This match was Great. Here are my favorite moments from the match. I loved Moxley flipping Naito off early on, and Naito returning the disrespect a bit later spitting in Moxley's face. Moxley hit a great piledriver to Naito. I love that Moxley put Naito in a Sharp Shooter and then transitioned into a STF once he realize the Sharp Shooter wasn't working. Naito was on the Apron and Moxley was in the ring and they traded strikes, eventually Moxley got the better of Naito, and drove Naito into the apron. Moxley was about to dive onto the floor where Naito was, but instead took a steel chair to the face/head, just brutal. Naito then did a Neckbreaker to Moxley on the Apron. After nearly counted out a now bloody Moxley made it back into the ring right before the 20 was counted. Moxley hit a stomp on Naito that was great. After being in a sleeper for a long time, Naito was able to get out and go for a victory roll pin attempt, but only got a 2 count, Awesome stuff. After taking elbows, Moxley countered Naito with a cutter and then hit a Death Rider for a nearfall. It made me bite, just awesome. Naito hit Moxley with a Destino for a great near fall. Naito went for it again but Moxley countered and did a bunch of punches and hit Naito with a Death Rider for another near fall. After another Death Rider Moxley did it!"
