UPDATE #2: Website Updates: Ratings moratorium tweaks, part deux

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone!

The main idea of the moratorium (original announcement) has not changed and so far I would consider it a successful trial phase. However, based on some of my own observations and your feedback I wanted to make a few tweaks to the algorithm. In general I would like to keep the side effect of the moratorium alive, which is giving us administrators of the site at least a chance to be awake during the initial rating period for events. It's not always going to result in immediate reactions to troll ratings, but it at least gives us a chance.

So, what are the tweaks:

1. For wrestling events in the Americas (North and South), the moratorium has been moved forward six hours to next day, 10 am (10:00) CET. Again, we are not going to be able to react to events in time every day, so if I see that people are going crazy again, I will move the timeslot back closer to 12 pm (12:00) as it was in the original moratorium.

2. For wrestling events in the rest of the world (Europe, Asia, other continents), the moratorium has been moved forward considerably to same day, 7 pm (19:00) CET. This change was made specifically because Asia (and to a lesser extent, Europe) had to wait far longer after the end of a show than the Americas. This is now changed and actually a bit reversed, but considering that the moratorium primarily (but not exclusively) exists due to American mainstream promotions, I think this is still fair.

Examples for a wrestling show that starts at 8 pm (20:00) and ends at 11 pm (23:00) in some regions:

- Japan: Ahead by 7 hours, so if the show ends at 23:00 in e.g. Tokyo, it is 16:00 in Germany. So you have to wait 3 hours.

- Europe: Most shows are in the evening, so if it ends at 23:00 in Germany/UK/Belgium/France/Poland/Spain/Italy/etc., there is practically no moratorium. If it's a morning or afternoon show, you might have to wait, though.

- USA East Coast: Behind by 6 hours, so if the show ends at 23:00 in e.g. New York, it is 5 am in Germany (next day). So you have to wait 5 hours.

- USA West Coast: Behind by 9 hours, so if the show ends at 23:00 in e.g. Los Angeles, it is 8 am in Germany (next day). So you have to wait 2 hours.

That will be the tweaks for now and there might be additional tweaks, changes or reversals in the future. I still consider it a trial phase, so I want to see how the next week of shows develops and will potentially make adjustments from there.

A final message in regards to some feedback I have seen in the previous article as well as online. The tone of the message will let you know which people I address, so here it goes: This website is a free service from wrestling fans for wrestling fans. We do this in our free time, often tens of hours per week. We are not getting paid to do this, there are no advertisements or evil user trackers -- we have real-life jobs, families and commitments and we are not beholden to your expectations. Have a little respect. Do not *demand* anything from us, do not *tell* us do something/anything, ever. Give constructive feedback and be respectful and polite. If you cannot do that, consider leaving the site.

However, I do enjoy the constructive feedback, especially if it's positive of course. :-) Even if it's negative or points out a flaw, I do appreciate it if it's clearly given in a constructive manner, as many of you do on a regular basis (via comments and mostly via direct emails to team@cagematch.net). Thank you for both.

Until the next website update, have fun!
