I love the title in general and think some of the best gimmick matches in Japan come from it, but the quality of the title can depend heavily on the champion, even when they're given interesting stipulations to work with. For my money, Akito is the best modern Extreme Champion, but DDT mainstays like Dino & Omega as well as deathmatch guys like Isami Kodaka have done well as champ. However, the highs of this title are extremely high, and ones that only DDT can provide, and on its worst day it's a decent midcard kinda-hardcore title. I think this title's best championship reigns should be studied as to how to keep a midcard belt exciting and varied relative to other singles titles in a company."
