117.03.2024GoldLiger8.0There are some bad booking decisions & genuinely bad reigns mixed into this lineage, but you look at the insane list of names who have held this, and remember some of the more notable reigns (the four longest in AJ's first, Shelley's, Roode's first, and Alexander's second alongside some of what Sting, Lashley, Angle, Galloway, Hardy, etc. did with it), this is still one of the most prestigious World Titles in western wrestling, and that has been held up beautifully in the 2020s despite some serious foibles in the past (even then one of those was more on Tessa than TNA/Impact since the angle that lead her to win the belt was perfectly sound and she just torpedoed her reputation herself). It's a shame that the lowest point in Jeff Hardy's career and one of the most embarrassing moments in TNA's history was in a match for this title, but that's one match.

429.01.2024Moose Nugget6.0There's been great wrestlers who have held this title, and some with great reigns as well. The problem is the booking in TNA damaged the title, and it felt like Russo was ready to do some wacky stuff right after The NWA took their title back and the restraints around their top title was taken away.
513.01.2024DeLorean99.0Ever since Josh Alexander won World Title from Christian Cage it was booked brilliantly and every new Champion elevated the title bit more and left his mark on its legacy. Josh Alexander and Alex Shelley in last couple of years did especially well to further establish and even elevate what has become one of more respected and important titles in all of wrestling.

1812.06.2023joethom7.0A title that has struggled to escape it's awful early history has turned into a good singles championship. Rarely are Impact title defenses anything but good or better. If Impact can grow it's fanbase this will be a must see title. 2023 edit: Since I first reviewed this title it has seen Josh Alexander's fantastic run and had several MOTYC level defenses. I will bump my rating up to a 7 from a 6.

3006.09.2022crs2856.0Title has been treated pretty well in professional wrestling. Had some great champions that have brought some prestige along with young stars who used it to become big names. Also has had some horrible champions and matches. Title has made a slow climb back up in quality of champions and matches recently.

4007.04.2022NakazawaNumberOne10.0The names that have held this title should say it all: Angle, Sting, and Hardy; AJ and Joe; Kenny Omega on his all-time run. The current stories involving Moose and Alexander are doing the work in keeping this a world title.

4925.02.20215nicoShuffle8.0Always thought that this was a very well booked title, with most champions fully deserving to hold the biggest prize of the company - minus a few exceptions of course. And while not always being seen as prestigious, it helped the likes of EC3, Nick Aldis, Eric Young & Eli Drake get used to the main event scene.
5013.02.2021BUIOOMEGA10.0One of my faves. The story of this title is fascinating to me, great champions (and a lot of downs anyways) but always great feelings about it.

5207.02.2021texasyosh4.0The TNA World title used to be it man. However, for the past 10 years it's legacy has been reduced to a very poor standard. There is a lot of work to be done to make it seem important.

6218.02.2019Kevin411827.0Though it's been a rough half decade for this belt, the strap still holds quite a bit of its importance it had back in TNA's golden era. Men like Bobby Roode, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle all held the belt at one time or another. I hope we see a resurgence with this belt as it's been one of the more entertaining championships of the 2000s.

7027.07.2018TPhoenix258.0I've always felt the importance and prestige of the Impact World Championship through the appearance of the belt, the great matches it has been contested in, how it is featured and always presented in the main event of the card, even before considering the title reigns. I say this especially after Impact severed their alliance with NWA in 2007 and started introducing sleeker versions of the title. Guys like AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Christian Cage, Bobby Roode and Austin Aries established and brought legitimacy, seeing how they are such remarkable talent on the mic and in between the ropes. The down years where the value truly suffered began with the Mick Foley reign in 2009 before Angle and Styles thankfully got their subsequent runs. Things escalated during the Hogan/Bischoff era; however, when title reigns began to be thrown all over and predominantly given to former WWE stars such as RVD (month after debuting and beating the company goldenboy AJ Styles like nothing), then you had the subpar exchanges between Mr. Anderson and Jeff Hardy (that Divas Championship-looking Hardy version belt was so ugly and demeaning), then finally Bobby Roode reigns champion for a glorious 256 days which rejuvenates the value and worth. Ever since, the champions and reigns from what I've seen, have been fine minus a few reigns where I felt some guys shouldn't have been in that spot like Chris Sabin, Drew Galloway, Alberto El Patron and to a lesser extent Eric Young (if only he had his badass gimmick of 2016 in 2014) in retrospect. Greatest match for the TNA/Impact World Championship? That has got to be either AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels at Turning Point 2009, AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle at Genesis 2010, Sting vs Jeff Jarrett at BFG 2006, Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe at Lockdown 2007, Bobby Roode vs Austin Aries at Destination X 2012... I can't decide, too many fantastic matches to name and few characters left to name them all.

7522.04.2018InactiveGuru6.0Despite the really low ratings lately I honestly think the title is on the up with Aries winning it and nothing has been god awful, while Eli Drake isn't the best in the ring he can certainly talk which sort of made sense for the title and previously we've had decent matches and good title holders but all the name changes recently, were they really all necessary?
7616.04.2018Okaro1436.0
7722.02.2018Nikito2222.0Once, this was one of the most prestigious titles in the world. There were times when it was thought that it would be the next WWE Championship, being awarded to those wrestlers who had not achieved it in that company. However, they focused too much on that, without taking care of their own talent. Some were not even what they promised, and they began to bequeath the boring and predictable fights. Now look, today serves as an accessory for Austin Aries. It seems that now anyone can win this championship with just ask. People complain about Brock as a Universal Champion, but if we're honest, a freelancer is no better than a part-timer.

8328.01.2017steviecw8.0TNA have made some moves that I'm not crazy about but I think the PWI was just being a bit confrontational 'taking away' their World title status. While improvements could be made and certain reigns could have been longer or more fighting, a lot of very notable and often legendary wrestlers have held this title and none of them have stagnated the title lineage through endless repeat reigns (Cena / Orton / HHH). Some legends have held this title (Sting, Foley, RVD, Kurt Angle), some of the world's current best (AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries) while in 2016 we had Drew Galloway, EC3, Bobby Lashley, Mike Bennett, Eddie Edwards and James Storm killing themselves to be champion - that's something I'd class as prestigious.
8424.12.2016test854.0Für mich kein ernstzunehmender World Championship mehr.
