Der WCW (bzw. davor NWA) World Heavyweight Title wurde ja mit der WWE Championship zusammengeführt, um die Undisputed Championship zu bilden. Blöd nur, dass ein zweiter World Title eben doch gebraucht wurde und so wurde diese Nachstellung ins Leben gerufen, die gleich heißt und aussieht wie der richtige WHC, aber nicht dieselbe Lineage hat. Finde ich ziemlich unkreativ und billig, einen Titel 1:1 nachzustellen ohne die Lineage, anstatt in der Situation einen ganz neuen Titel zu kreieren. Das beste ist ja, dass dieser nachgestellte Titel 2013 mit der WWE Championship (dem de facto umbenannten Undisputed Title) zusammengeführt wurde, sodass der WWE Championship inwzischen zwei (2) WHCs inneliegen ... und letztes Jahr, 2023. wurde schon wieder ein neuer WHC eingeführt, der genau so unkreativ aber dafür schlechtaussehender ist. I remember all the unusual champions like Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Jack Swagger or Christian. For some reason, this belt looks really good on Undertaker. It really is legendary, and I still wish they brought it back instead of inventing the WWE Universal Championship. |

The PG era, for the most part, at least saw the right the holders -- Edge, Punk, Hardy, Taker, Christian, Sheamus, Bryan pre-Yes Movement, Ziggler and his MITB win. It usually felt like the secondary world title that it was, but in a way, that meant that because people held it to a lower standard, it often felt surprisingly well-booked. Hard to believe it's been over 8 years since this belt was retired. |

Its title history had its big ups and big downs. Not really surprising, if you consider it lived between 2002 and 2013. Though it was indeed the championship to intensify the dominance of several people, in contrast to this it was also the championship to create the main-event stage for "rising stars" (in 2000s-2010s standards) (Batista, CM Punk, ... ) effectively. On top of that it filled the missing key in some wrestlers' careers (Jeff Hardy, Mark Henry). All in all to me it's the title that actually survived bad times and presents the bigger highlights of its decade. |

And it's prestige wasn't helped by the fact that the first champion was Triple H and both the title and Raw became his personal playground for almost three years, and that virtually every challenger came out of feuding with Triple H as damaged goods. But once they decided to actually get someone over, Batista, the title started to mean something. Yet Batista's run as champion was somewhat disappointing as he was never as hot as he was when he was feuding with Triple H, and he never had another hot feud. And after Batista's reign, they either gave long runs to the wrong guys or gave short or otherwise mismanaged runs to the right guys, and once it was merged with the WWE Championship, it was very much a case of putting the title out of its misery. |
