1501.07.2023NEVERoverweightChampion9.0Barely 10 years of history but this was well established as a prestigious belt. Held mostly by upper-midcarders and top guys, so winning it was always a big deal. This championship was known for having its prestige built by Shinsuke Nakamura and then Tetsuya Naito had a great evolving relationship with this belt. These are the two big names attached to it. Sadly during its last year of existence the booking was questionable, maybe a little too much short reigns even if it played into the double dash story. Then the pandemic happened and the booking got worse and NJPW just decided to retire it. Stupid decision because the belt still had some value and could have been built back up but anyway, during most of its existence it was the perfect secondary title.

1726.04.2023MainEventMaster10.0Greatest secondary championship in pro wrestling history, although it has been somewhat replaced by the US Heavyweight title, it still was a crime to end this title.
1825.04.2023crs2858.0Good title in design and match quality. Booking was questionable at times but a lot of good champions who were either building to a world title or stars looking for something to do outside the main event picture.

5106.05.2021ExcitingProWrestlin34.0Nah. I refuse to believe this is one of the best belts NJPW has ever had, it should've retired after Naito had his first run or Nakamura had his last run. Those two were the BEST thing about this title aside from maybe Tanahashi who naturally elevates anything he gets. Aside from them I see no reason why this title should've continued through 2019-20- early '21. ... For the primary reason that no one matched the runs of Nakamura and Tanahashi, apart from them no other reign resonates with me from a story perspective. Naito tossing the title around and breaking it was cool too, his run wasn't bad for what it did for Tanahashi's run.

6512.01.2021BlackWind6.0It started as midcard belt and got better. Even main evented Tokyo Dome alone but that title is now being defended with Heavyweight title so it doesn't have any value for me. If they seperate the titles and or defend them seperately, i can change my mind.

6807.12.2020medouse9.0Second most prestigious wrestling title in the world. I wouldn't consider it as mid-card only title, though.
6930.11.2020dinosaurjr6.0This is one of the best looking belts I've ever seen, but it's also (like a majority of new japan's belts) held back by very poor booking I wouldn't really mind if the belt was altogether retired

7107.10.2020Legend0039.0Für mich sicherlich der beste ? Midcard?

9330.10.2019ElPolloLoco7.0It used to be a very important title, made great chiefly by Nakamura and to a lesser extent Tanahashi. It was so important it even managed to give a tiny bit of credibility to Bad Luck Fale for holding it for a few months. Lately it has been chiefly used to give a title belt to Naito to keep fans from openly rioting but this meant the title itself has been dragged into Naito's disappointing booking, culminating with Taichi's latest idiotic push. The moment that guy challenged for the IC championship I had mental flashes of Madusa throwing that title in the garbage instead of her own WWE championship belt. White's present title reign is basically harmless, for the chief reason the damage has already been done. This title needs to be either retired or revitalized with a major reign because as things stands it overlaps with the NEVER Openweight title.
9410.10.2019Tye8.0
9524.09.2019zephyr5.0With the recent title unification rumors, I've thought about the IC title a lot and come to the conclusion that it's not actually a very good championship at all. Outside of being Nakamura's pet belt, this has seen pretty much no prestigious long-term champions at all and is sort of becoming the "you're not gonna win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship" title.
