614.04.2021killowenskill1.0Everything you need to know about booking a New Japan in 2020 - from the whole tournament, only three matches at the Dominion turned out. This is SHO-Takagi, because of the eliminated Shingo, this is Aces-Tekkers, because of their clashes in the tournament (the only thing that was performed really well), and the notorious EVIL-Naito. New Japan was gone for 4 months, and instead of making an incredible tournament where every match affects something and the result is a rich card for the big show, where matches matter, it turned out to be a shit set up for literally two wrestlers. The left side of the grid was spent on Okada's story, and, funniest of all, it was only needed to make the heel turn of EVIL more shocking (which didn't work out in the end). At the same time, Gedo had a desire to promote Hiromu, a junior who once in an alien environment immediately defeats three wrestlers and is one step away from the final. They sacrificed Ishii for the junior to get to Kazuchika, but lost to him. It seems like courage, but in the end some nonsense. Everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong. The matches themselves were not particularly great, because New Japan immediately showed that it did not cope well with the realities of empty arenas and that wrestlers were not particularly interested in selling a match in such conditions. The wrestlers who really managed to rebuild are Ishii, Taichi, and Tanahashi, who showed phenomenal work. But all of them eventually collapsed and the final naturally reached the wrong people who tore their asses. All in all, this is a useless tournament with terrible matches, which was the starting point of the terrifying booking that will haunt New Japan all of 2020. I don't give it a 0 just because of Taichi and Tanahashi's greatest match.

1024.11.2020Okaro1436.0It had a few good matches but none that really stood out. EViL gets his win but in the process betrays LIJ and allign himself with Bullet Club. Hiromu vs Ishii was the match if the tournament.
1228.08.2020Scott Kobayashi7.0Let? s look at the good and the bad here. On the good was that there were some absolutely excellent matches in this tournament. Nagata vs. Suzuki, SHO vs. Shingo, and Hiromu vs. Ishii were class and among the best matches of the pandemic era. But there were also some of the worst matches of the year in Yano vs. Jado and Okada vs. Gedo. EVIL winning felt a lot like this entire tournament. Thrown together. But New Japan tried and for the most part, it was more good than bad.
1323.08.2020Childofthelost9.0Very good tournament especially considering the circumstances. Several ****+ matches and a lot of compelling storytelling.
1408.08.2020CounterCultureCantCount7.0At the end of the day, it was still a relatively compelling competition despite being organized in the roughest of times.
Dafür erstmal Respekt an alle Beteiligten. Top 10 Matches: 1. Hiromu/Ishii (Day 7) - ****1/2 2. Sho/Shingo (Day 3) - ****1/4 3. Suzuki/Nagata (Day 2) - **** 4. Okada/Hiromu (Day 8) - **** 5. Ishii/Despy (Day 1) - **** 6. Ishii/Makabe (Day 5) - ***3/4 7. Goto/Evil (Day 6) - ***3/4 8. Okada/Nagata (Day 5) - ***1/2 9. Ibushi/ZSJ (Day 3) - ***1/2 10. Ibushi/Taichi (Day 6) - ***1/2 Top 3 Shows 1. Tag 7 2. Tag 3 3. Tag 8 MVPs 1. Ishii 2. Hiromu 3. Okada
