117.04.2024Neuroticdog42 The look is top tier. Wrestler skills are questionable. Lots of memorable moments, whether they were good or bad. I am giving him a 7 based of of his importance during the golden era of WWE/WWF. First person to hold the IC and WWE title at the same time, beating Hulk Hogan. Energetic as heck, fun to watch overall.

718.03.2024Green Deli3.0Im splitting the difference with this one. He did have an undeniable presence and he could have good matches if matched with the right opponent (DiBiase, Savage). On the other hand, the other times he wrestled tended to be utter trash, and hes a massive homophobe. In the ring hes a 5, shoot hes a 1 at best.

1003.03.2024Trombek Kushinika7.0Loved this dude when I was a kid. The ten year old me didnt care that his work was sloppy as anything. He ran to the ring, shock the ropes and looked cool as F. Watching his matches back now as an adult I can understand why he got all the negative comments he got post career - he was basically just a roided up body builder with a massive ego and questionable political beliefs.

1823.01.2024CommisarRobe5.0Hard man to rate is Jim Hellwig (aka Warrior aka The Ultimate Warrior) his character is no doubt one of the most memorable in the history of WWE, however his ring work is highly suspect and for all accounts it appears that he was an unprofessional fuck behind the scenes. His match with Hogan where he won the belt was a good match and I do love the sports entertainment value of seeing Warrior Squash Honky Tonk Man for the IC belt. Despite this he was not a good wrestler and required more talented men (Sting, Hogan and Savage) to make him look good in matches.

2116.01.2024mackers209.0The Ultimate Warrior AKA Jim Hellwig is one of the most iconic wrestlers in history. Warrior was the living embodiment of WWF wrestling in the late 80s and early 90s. A wild character who was a superhero come to life with a massive physique and colorful outfit. Everything about Warrior was tailored to perfection, his entrance, dominance and entire persona. He made you genuinely believe he was a barbarian hero brought to the 20th century. Warrior may have been limited in the ring and only could go 5 minutes but he made up for it in spades with charisma. There is no denying how infectious his energy was that when crowds heard that guitar rift, they stood up and cheered for their hero. Warrior of course had iconic feuds with Ric Rude, Honky Tonk Man and Andre the Giant before facing off against Hulk Hogan. For Warrior to surpass Hogan in popularity and put enough confidence in McMahon to have Warrior go over clean at WMVI shows the greatness of Warrior during this period. His world title reign may not have been great and was hampered by poor booking but Warrior never really fell in popularity during this period. Something I find underrated about Warrior was he did in fact evolve the character over time. His second run in 1996 and even his ill fated WCW run showed a new side for Warrior. In 1996 he was willing to play a more comedic role and in WCW cut promos that weren't insane mumbo jumbo. Of course internet fans do not care and they also bring up the BS of his firing in 1996 while pretending to care about politics to say he is a terrible person for saying things that are objectively true. Funny how these smarks will trash McMahon but will take him at face value when trashing Warrior such as McMahon claiming he no showed a House Show he was headlining when in reality Warrior was no longer under contract with WWF at the time and Warrior was not listed for that house show card. There is a reason Warrior won his law suit against WWE for their slanderous "documentary." And I won't get into the politics other than complaints about it are all BS from neckbeards. In conclusion, the Ultimate Warrior showed people really do not give a rat's rear about work rate or "good" wrestling that makes internet nerds salivate and Daddy Dave throw out 5 stars. People watch wrestling for character and story and Warrior was a master of that.

2323.12.2023eetasa27.0One of the greatest characters of all time. Not a great wrassler but entertaining in small doses. I will never forget Wrestlemania 6 and Warrior winning the belt. One of my personal favorite Pay per views and I have watched the show at least 10 times in my life.
2420.12.2023Loge2.0Mickey mouse ass jit that couldnt wressle and was just a huge sarms goblin so he was given a career even though he was hella selfish and rude. Fuck you Ultimate Boreior. Literally has three good matches and thats it. He really does not deserve the high level of fame that he has gotten, but I understand why hes at that point. Its 80s wrestling. People were retar 5G brained superchemtrail teflon in the water supply ass jits back then so they dont know ReaL GrapS like Chad Gabble adn otis. Kinda crazy to think that Sting started out as an Ultimate Warrior clone and ended up completely blowing Warrior's career out of the water. I like how Warrior was brought back in 1996 to squash more jits like HHH and then dip again. very funny booking guys.

2628.11.2023CMFunk0078.0The Ultimate Warrior is, to this day, a very controversial figure in wrestling. He started out his career in Memphis, teaming with Sting as The Blade Runners. Then, he made a brief stop in the UWF before spending some time in World Class Championship Wrestling with the Von Erichs going by the Dingo Warrior. Then, eh went to the WWF, where he became a household name. He feuded with Hercules, Rick Rude, and eventually Hulk Hogan, culminating in him ending Hulkamania at Wrestlemania 6 with a clean win over Hogan. His greatest match, however, was with Randy Savage at Wrestlemania 7 after losing his title to Sgt. Slaughter in controversial fashion. He'd come back to aid Hogan a year later against Slaughter and Col. Mustafa. He'd have Jake "The Snake" Roberts betray him before disappearing for a while after a dispute with Vince McMahon behind the scenes. He'd return to save Hogan from Sid Vicious and Papa Shango and would aid Randy Savage against Ric Flair and Razor Ramon before disappearing again. He'd make another attempt at a comeback in 1996, squashing Triple H at Wrestlemania before leaving the WWF for the final time. He'd show up in WCW in 1998 and challenge Hollywood Hogan once again in one of the worst matches ever and then would be gone within a couple of months. His final match would be against Orlando Jordan in 2008. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014, rumored to have mended bridges with people backstage, and then died the following night of a heart attack after delivering a final promo on WWE Raw. Such a tragic ending for one of the most energetic competitors I ever watched. As a kid, he was my favorite. But he faded from memory with his multiple departures and regarded as problematic by almost everyone behind the scenes. Not the best technically in the ring, but he was larger than life and entertained us all.
2724.11.2023Prowrestlingfan20016.0Ultimate Warrior is not a good human and whatever good grace he made at the end of his life will not make up for his whole life of lying and making comments that still make me mad, But as a pro wrestler he had a run that will be remembered forever mostly because his character that made many fans get into wrestling. Ultimate Warrior was given a great chance and he ran into and literally outta the spotlight with it.

3017.11.2023JediSaiyanMaster12034.0The Ultimate Warrior is the prime example of a Vince McMahon made sports entertainer (not saying wrestler since ole Vinnie Mac hates that word) from the ground up, the epitome of the "all sizzle, no steak" phrase. On the mic? Couldn't make a coherent promo at all, not even an entertaining one. All he did was ramble on like he had a stroke, saying literal nonsense that even he couldn't explain to anyone. In the ring? LOL! The only good matches he's ever had are with men who know how to carry the worst of opponents to good matches (Randy Savage, Rick Rude, Hulk Hogan, etc.). The only reason he got by was because he had Vince McMahon shunning all of his weaknesses and had an, admittedly, cool look and entrance. Overall, it amazes me he had so much success and became a legend despite not having a good legacy behind him.

3401.11.2023Dntbamark4.0Warrior is another complicated one to review, while you can't deny his physical charisma and his intensity, he was a guy who Vince had hoped could replace Hogan but he soon realized that Warrior couldn't draw much less work a crowd like Hogan could at that time. Not to mention, he was an absolute cancer backstage and was proven difficult to work with by alot of his fellow performers. While I respect his outlook on the business, in the way that he was out to make as much money as possible and get out, and he did make a ton of money in a short period of time. The truth is, he was out of a promotion almost as soon as he could get in it just based on his backstage behavior and his unwillingness to do any sort of good business.

4024.09.2023Jesse Wulf0.0Terrible excuse for a wrestler, even if you don't get into what he said outside the ring. All the negative stereotypes about Hogan's in ring abilities apply to Warrior tenfold given the guy can barely work a passable match when not carried by a vastly superior worker. He has absolutely zero character work in ring, zero psychology, he does about five moves and even those poorly, sometimes injuring people with his carelessness. Also, his finisher is terrible. He was massively over at one point in his career so they gave him the belt and he proved he was just a flash in the pan by failing while he was at the top. The least said about his 1996 or 1998 runs the better I suppose. You can argue he's iconic, sure, but his work has aged terribly and I have no desire to really rewatch any Warrior match ever.

4609.08.2023celticinvader9.0I completely get it. Sure, the Warrior's matches were not technical in the slightest. Dude had about five moves, and his matches usually lasted less than five minutes. But isn't that kind of the point? The Ultimate Warrior's entire character is being an unstoppable force that crushes everything in his path, and his wrestling style reflects the character. His run into the ring and shaking of the ropes is legendary, and helps further build the "monster let off the leash" persona he built for himself. His entrance in Wrestlemania VIII is one of my favourite Mania moments ever. I also love the pure coked-out insanity of his promos, they're hilarious.
4708.08.2023ViolenceBret6.0Was the Ultimate Warrior a good wrestler? No not at all, but he was an entertaining train wreck to witness unfold. Just one look at this guy and you could tell he was pumped full of steroids. Vince McMahon obviously loves a body builder over anything else and comic book super heroes, thus this guy seemed like a natural fit for WWE. In the Blade Runners tag-team it was clear Sting was the better worker, granted, the whole post-punk aesthetic was pretty cool. Plus the name references both a William S. Burroughs novel about drug trafficking and sci-fi film dealing with androids. In retrospect, The Ultimate Warrior was kind of like a replicant, he was more professional wrestler than professional wrestler, and his career had a really short lifespan. His appearance alone bumps him up pretty high, being tall with zero % body fat, and his manic ranting... Well, it needs to be seen to be believed. Where things quickly fall apart is in the ring, sure he was safer than Bill Goldberg, but wow was he limited. Every match couldn't last very long and the cocaine fueled convolutions were obvious. Plus his sprint to the ring was a huge waste of energy, like come on, take your time walking no need to get winded on your entrance. So his psychology was virtually nonexistent. Once the Warrior jumped ship to WCW things fell apart and well, the rest was history. Granted, his farewell at WWE was haunting and truly an unexpected great moment in his career. 6.3/10 for the painted up meaty man. Oddly entertaining but in small doses.

5313.07.2023bigredtalk896.0Has his career aged well? No. Was he great in the ring? No. But at the end of the day, he was one of the biggest stars of the era. And while he was never going to be a master of in-ring work, his matches against Hogan and Savage at Mania were both quality bouts. At the end of the day, the man left a significant impact on the wrestling world.

5822.05.2023Giantfan19806.0Time hasn't been kind to this guy. The farther we get along in history, the more he fades into the past, but at the time, this guy was HUGE in the WWF! He wasn't the worst in the ring, but was sloppy from time to time, but the style suited the crazy muscle guy gimmick. You don't need to wrestle like an 12 star out of 10 Japanese wrestler when your whole gimmick is unstoppable mad man who crushes everything in his path. Never really cared about the business in the long term sense and only put in the bare minimum or only tried when he was absolutely forced to. His attitude and personal life is why his legacy is so tarnished. The gimmick and the image was just unfortunately used on a pain in the ass person. Dude had issues that he tried to resolve at the very end after everyone had long since made up their minds on him and as the world gets more "progressive" prepare to see this guy plummet even further in the all time rankings. Going with a 6 out of 10 for being the #2 during the mid to late era of the WWF's 80's boom, but he didn't stick around long enough to be rated any higher than that.

6427.01.2023CurlyHairMetalPunk7.0The Ultimate Warrior was definitely a product of his time in that he got insanely over with the audience because of his Greek god physique and rambling interviews. In the ring, the Ultimate Warrior was absolutely awful and is rightfully deserving of a 1/10 when it comes to his wrestling ability. Negativity aside, the big time matches that the Ultimate Warrior had with Randy Savage and Rick Rude have aged a lot better than many other things from the Golden Era and are some of the best matches that the WWE ever produced.

6617.01.2023Leth990.0I'll never understand him. He had the world in his arms, yet he couldn't work a match. In 13 years he only had 3 passable matches. One against Rick Rude, 2 against Randy Savage. Horrible in-ring psychology, he couldn't talk, he injured a lot of wrestlers, he refused to work multiple matches, what else can I say? No reedeming qualities. He wasn't different and it didn't take too much to be him. No, Renegade doesn't count, he was the greeniest green that ever greened.

6814.01.2023Der Galische Krieger6.0Former WCWA World Tag Team champion, former WCWA Texas Heavyweight champion, former 2 time WWF Intercontinental champion, former WWF World Heavyweight champion and conqueror of the immortal Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania VI the Ultimate Warrior. Jim Hellwig full of 0's & 1's, I think a lot of people are being dishonest with their voting. Yes, he wasn't a good worker in the ring, but he still had a lot of great matches and used his limitations well. He was protected, usually with great workers who could carry him i.e Randy Savage, Rick Rude to name a few. My point is there was a lot of bad workers that couldn't even be led in a match. He also brought mountains of charisma which helped carry a match and he was hot as f**k, it only lasted 2 or 3 years but he was huge, I was one of those warrior children. His mic skills weren't bad, they were entertaining and mysterious which fit his brilliant gimmick. I was a fan of him since Blade Runners, looking through a friend's wrestling digest before I got to see him on telly (Being from Ireland exposure to wrestling was limited). It wasn't only Vince who was pushing him, he was getting a push at WCWA before he went to the WWF picking up the Texas heavyweight title and tag team titles as well. Looking back he was shockingly limited, sometimes his selling was poor, but he still brought charisma, he made the gimmick his own and was believable, some modern wrestlers could even learn from someone as limited as the Ultimate Warrior. Charisma hot, Mic Skills pass, Gimmick hot, Longevity pass, Overness hot, Psychology bad, Workrate the shits, Technical Ability bad. 5.6*

Anyone that thinks highly of him is blinded by childhood nostalgia. Hellwig was a spectacular flash in the pan because he was built like an action figure, screamed, shook the ropes and had coked out energy. That was enough to get a cheap pop and inspire kids to buy your merch in 1988, at least for a short time. Vince made the stupid mistake of trying to go with Warrior as the next ace of the company, and pivoted quickly back to Hogan and for good reason. His career went downhill from there and is only notable for his game of chicken with Vince over his SummerSlam payday, and his off the wall bad run in WCW. 0 as a wrestler, even lower as a man.

7906.10.2022RavenCrow757.0For the most part I will be basing my Wrestler ratings on five criteria four of which are based on in-ring ability and the last on charisma. I believe these five criteria are pro wrestling's version of Tommy Lasorda's criteria of "five points" in baseball. For pro wrestling those five criteria are power, speed, technical ability, hardcore & charisma. Warrior's scores: Power: 9 Speed: 7 Technical: 3 Hardcore: 7 Charisma: 10 for a total of 36 and an average of 7.2 rounded down to 7.

9011.07.2022Tomas Cunha5.0Not a huge fan of Warrior, but no one can deny the impact he had on pro wrestling during the late 80s and early 90s. He was simply the biggest name around outside of Hulk Hogan. Now, he definitely has many evident flaws, particularly his lacking in-ring work, but I think he improved a lot throughout his career. He could be carried to a good match with the right opponents, so it's not like he was a complete DUD in that department. I'm not a fan of his promos as I can barely understand a thing that he's saying and I personally don't think they were good (despite being different, which did help him stand out even more), but his presence and look were engaging. He had great charisma with Rick Rude and Macho Man, with whom he produced his most consistent work. I didn't enjoy Warrior's WWF Championship reign in 1990, but the match with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania was a true spectacle. My favorite Ultimate Warrior match ever is the masterpiece with Randy Savage at WrestleMania 7.
