It's still sad that he's no longer here with us, R.I.P. Jay Briscoe"

There are very few men with truly everything, and Jay was one. There's no point in listing everything because he had it all. Excellent singles wrestler, legendary tag wrestler, iconic promo. One of the best and doing some of his best work right up until his untimely death. Anything shy of a 10 is a disservice. RIP"

Viel Kraft seinen Hinterbliebenen. R.I.P. legend Jay Briscoe!"

Seeing how this was going to be my first wrestling show I've ever attended, I chose to go to the NJPW show, since I wanted to see the likes of Minoru Suzuki, and Jay White. What a mistake I made, since I didn't get to see FTR vs. the Briscoes live. I think it's arguable that Jay is one of the most versatile wrestlers in American wrestling history. You can put him in any environment, any match type, any era, and I feel he'd thrive. He leaves behind an incredible career, with a seemingly endless catelog of matches of any kind. The cage match against Samoa Joe, the ladder war with his brother Mark against Steenerico, a stint over in Pro Wrestling NOAH, morphing into a brawl-heavy style later in his career. The list goes on and on. Man up."

[9.0] "On August 5th 2016 I rated Jay as an 8 and I hadnt changed it. Ive seen more of Mark and Jay since then and they will go down as one of the best tag teams ever which is a high honour. Besides being an amazing tag wrestler along side his brother he was also a very good singles wrestler. Jay could wrestle great matches against any style. For a rough brawler type Jay could fly, Jay could go and have a strong style match, grapple with some of the best technical wrestlers, etc. Whenever I saw Jay in particular wrestle he could mesh with literally anybody and any style which takes a lot of talent. Jay had an great singles run in 2014-2015 as the ROH world champion which was when I first started watching Ring Of Honor somewhat regularly. In 2022 the Briscoes were killing it. After a few years of not hearing about them as much due to COVID and AEW taking over a lot of ROHs spotlight Dem Boys really reminded the pro wrestling world that they were still here and still one of the best tag teams. I was hoping that in 2023 the higher ups at Warner/Discovery would finally get over Jays early 2010s Twitter comments that he apologized many times over so that he and his brother could finally get a bigger stage to show the world how great they were. Unfortunately that never got to happen. From the Hass Brothers, Backseat Boyz, Amazing Red, Second City Saints and the S.A.T to wrestling Misawa, Kings Of Wrestling, LAX, BULLET CLUB, Lucha Bros, Worlds Greatest Tag Team, FTR, LIJ, MCMG, Samoa Joe, OGK and Aussie Open Jay Briscoe will go down in high regards as a great wrestler and a legendary tag wrestler. My heart sank when I heard the news. RIP Jay Briscoe"

In life, sometimes we do or say horrible things that resonate deeply, but it's how we take accountability of our actions and take steps to learn and grow from them that are the measure of that person. Although it cost Pugh professionally, accounts from people who knew him show that his attitudes changed, and he worked hard to make amends. It took a while for me to understand this, but I'm glad I didn't hold a grudge against him forever. As for the performer, Jay Briscoe was a constant in wrestling for the last two decades, first emerging with his brother Mark as teenagers in the early 2000s, and then growing into one of the best tag teams of the era. The Ladder War with El Generico and Kevin Steen is one of my favourite matches of all time, and just last year, they had my favourite tag team series of all time with FTR. Jay Briscoe was also a really good singles wrestler, having held the Ring of Honor World Championship twice. The wrestling community will miss a heck of a performer, but those who shared rings and locker rooms with him will miss so much more. All the best to Mark and the Briscoe/Pugh family."

Watching them grow into ROH Pillars & ROH Legends. Jay even became the ROH World Champion and of course a legit Tag Team Wrestling Legend. One of the greatest real life brother tag teams in pro wrestling history. Gonna miss Jay's fire, intensity, passion, work ethic, all of it. This is a devastating loss right here. He was still in his prime in my eyes. Prayers to the family, and to Mark, man. Those 2 were joined at the hip. If you saw one, you saw the other. I have a brother myself. I can't even imagine, man. I swear that I remember a promo that The Briscoes did one time, and it was Jay who said something like, "One day me and Mark are gonna be sittin' in the old man rocking chairs on our front porch reminiscing about the old days", that is even more heartbreaking to remember hearing that now. For good reason - not only can he brawl with the best of 'em, he is also able to tell a story in the ring and make what he does matter to the crowd. Since dropping the World Title to Jay Lethal, he has shown that he's at a point where he can seamlessly move between the main event and midcard, and singles and tag ranks as the situation calls for."

He has the look of a main eventer, which is something that ROH talents usually lack. He looks badass and has added muscle to his frame and has decent size. He's still young and has a bright career ahead of him. He can work the mike and has an extremely credible gimmick/character, because its actually himself in real life. He is a well schooled technical wrestler who is one of the best brawlers and can take to the air as well. He's not perfect though, and his flaws and limitations have been exposed now that he is not always wrestling in a tag team. He needs to learn how to tell a story and get the crowd emotionally invested in the match, because alot of the time, his matches seem just like one long sequence of spots, rather than a story. He will need to improve this aspect of his game."
