129.03.2024Brutish Dandy5.0The absolute worst thing about Bray dying so young is that for the rest of my natural life I'm gonna hear about what a genius all-timer performer he was. He was an ideas man. He had a lot of ideas. Were they good ideas? Most of the time no. Did they lead to good programs, matches, or draw money? Most of the time no. His turnaround lariat was cool and he had a couple great promos but I think Spoony hit it on the head a decade ago when he said they meant nothing and went nowhere.
226.03.2024djones065.0Nothing bad to say about the man as a human being - obviously he was immensely loved. As a worker, he was very much a miss for me. His return just underlined how creativity doesn't always equal a good final product. You can blame Vince or Goldberg, or any number of factors contributing to the series of lows of his career, but ultimately Bray's return was a huge disappointment, his opponents had to fight to elevate themselves out of thankless booking, and he clearly had a heavy hand in his creative direction.

515.03.2024MikeHoncho4.0Obviously horrible that he passed away so young. Im just rating based solely on what I saw in wrestling. It would be disingenuous of me to give a 10 or something just because he passed away. Brat definitely had physical charisma, had very good character work. Just once the bell rang I could not get into the majority of his matches. I just didnt think his work was very good, just my opinion. He could talk for sure, wouldnt loved to see him be a villain in a horror movie or something; just in a wrestling context I wasnt a huge fan. Either way, I respect the hard work he put in. RIP

2128.01.2024TripleCrown4.0Bray Wyatt is such an anomaly in the professional wrestling industry. He has such a fantastic look and character presentation, but everything just seems to fall flat the minute he enters in the ring. He lacks a certain spark that so many of the greats have, and it's disappointing as Wyatt really could have been something special. His character work is too elongated, after awhile you find yourself feeling pretty bored with the whole thing. Was really onto something with The Fiend character but due to booking it just fell apart pretty quickly. His work just doesn't gel with professional wrestling. I found that a lot of his best stuff comes from edited videos and interviews, something which you can't do on the fly in todays landscape. Had A TON of potential, but it was pretty much washed away by the booking and also over the top characters that have zero easy to understand explanation. EDIT: This review was left on April 2023, just 4 months before his untimely death. I still stand by what I said, Wyatt had the IT factor, but it didn't transcend too well on TV. Again, the stuff for his character was great but it was very limited for wrestling. There's only so much they could've done, there was also a very fine line between his gimmick being silly and being serious, I felt as if they sometimes slipped between the two. He will absolutely be missed though, such a unique wrestler during this time and people like Karrion Kross, who aren't exactly the same in regards to gimmick but lean on the darker side of things, just don't compare to Bray Wyatt. It will be a long, long time until we see another wrestler capable of being "supernatural" without it coming across as some wacky weird shtick.

Bray always maintained his image, even when he took the company's main championship. Plus videos with fans in which he smiled and looked like a very kind person will forever remain in my memory. Rest in peace Windham. I will miss his creative ideas, new characters and great promos.

3309.01.2024Tonostra This is my first comment on this website, and I was thinking about rating Chris Benoit first, but decided to go for a "better" bad ending. My comment might look harsh on the beginning, but please consider reading everything before thinking I am a person who has a cold heart. I must start by saying I have never been a fan of Bray Wyatt. His characters were not for me. I love the inspiration from movies or comics, but what he did with those ideas didn't work on me. To me, it was just some fanfiction a teenager could have written, or something good for an escape game. I have always hated the invincible Fiend monster who no-sells everything, this is good for cinema, or cinematic wrestling matches, but not for matches. How can you book something who can't be beaten ? Now, the positive, and there's a lot. Of course, I didn't know personally Windham Rotunda, the man behind the persona. But he seemed like a genuine guy. Not even 12 hours after the announcement of his passing, Twitter and all socials were flooded about stories and moments people shared, people close to him or strangers like you and I. Like I said, I've never loved his ideas, but I can't deny he had such an imaginative way of changing himself. He was what we needed the most in wrestling: Reinvention. Being able to change, to give the fans something else to enjoy. Some people loved his ideas and some didn't, but there was no in-between, which is something important to me. Being able to make people react, from the crowd or on the internet, is something people from the entertainement thing should be looking for. I turned 30 the day he passed away (It was already August 25th where I live) and when I saw Triple H's tweet, I was shocked. Who wasn't after all ? I thought to myself "Today is my birthday, but I don't want this day to be fun. I am 30 and a guy in his mid 30's passed away tragically today. What if I leave tomorrow ? What can I leave to my family and friends ? ". On the evening, I poured myself some vodka, and watched the stars for minutes, believing they were fireflies. Thank you for everything Windham, thank you.

4408.12.2023Wrasslinfan6199.0One of the best minds in wrestling history, for sure HHH's best signing or maybe 2nd best bc its between him and Gargano. His matches are ok but his mind is amazing, promos generational and character work also incredible. But at one point from 2013-2014 his matches were amazing too. Wyatt family in its peak was amazing, the fiend was A great idea sadly ruined by A bad mind running things. And his current character of just, Bray Wyatt feuding with his mind is A great idea and I'm excited to see how this plays out. Future hall of famer for sure. Edit: Damn. It got to play out for like A month or two after my original rating until tragedy struck. I miss him like everyone else, and I'm gonna keep him at A 9. His impact on the industry for over A decade was huge, I hope he goes in the hall of fame next year.

4601.12.2023Zander8.0I swear, Bray Wyatt was so good. He was good on the mic and in the ring, which is why its so sad he was never allowed to go at his full potential because when we would have through he struck gold, he would get punched right back down the card. His newer run was promising but it ended before it got to start. RIP Legend.
4726.11.2023JediSaiyanMaster12038.0Amazing promo artist who has, unfortunately, been a victim of bad booking while still being a good character. Wish WWE booked him better, he's one of the most creative men in the business, a true genius. R.I.P. Bray Wyatt
4825.11.2023ElIgobernable5128.0
4921.11.2023Dntbamark6.0Bray is another guy taken from us too soon. For a big guy, he was hugely athletic and had the fundamentals of the ring down to go along with his family lineage but as a personality, besides The Fiend, it was incredibly hard to get behind Bray. His Cult Leader/Waylon Mercy gimmick had potential but then became a victim of "Big Match John" and he pretty soon became "The Eater of Pins" not long after that. I thought the Fiend was cool and had potential but WWE creative rushed him towards the title spot too quickly and the character was never the same after that. I've always thought a character like that should be built up slowly and with care but they attempted to strike while the iron was hot and we got the match against Seth Rollins at Hell in the Cell 2019 that ended in a no-contest. They attempted to course correct by having him go over Rollins a few weeks later but by that time, the damage was done. He followed his title win with lackluster programs with Daniel Bryan, The Miz before dropping the title to embarrassing fashion to Goldberg. Again, from this point, in my opinion, the character was dead and there wasn't anything that they could do to try and recover it. After WWE officially killed The Fiend, they attempted to repackage him again as "Bray Wyatt" which led to his match with LA Knight at Royal Rumble 2023 where Knight came out from the program looking better than Wyatt ever did. It's a shame, you have a highly creative guy, who has all these ideas but with each idea comes a new way to put it down with bad creative.
5018.11.2023SoaKas10.0I've waited a long time to rate Bray's work since he has just passed away and I didn't want to be the guy to give him the 10 afterwards. But there's a good reason why I'll give him that rating: He made me feel storytelling. I'm 20 years old and of course I love guys like Undertaker but I haven't grown up on his stuff, I grew up on Bray Wyatt. The Wyatt Family, The Eater of Worlds, The Fiend and even his return as Windham were all characters that meant something to me and that just gave me the feeling of really anticipating the next step of the story that is currently unfolding. IMO, he was the best storyteller in wrestling outside of the ring and he made me feel matches, promos and vignettes. I loved every single bit of Bray's work so much that I could ignore his in-ring flaws. For 2000s kids like me, he was the new Undertaker when it comes to aura, the new Mick Foley when it comes to storytelling and the first ever Bray Wyatt when it comes to creating deep and valuable characters and gimmicks. Thank you Bray for showing a new generation of kids how much wrestling can mean to you.

5409.11.2023vpg80007.0I have to admit I was no fan of Bray's and had the same criticisms as a lot of other people did at the time. That all changed when I watched his Royal Rumble 2023 press conference. He humbly said he was proud of his Mountain Dew Pitch Black match. That he was doing this to be able to have something for him and his kids to share. I had never seen him out of character. Something about that 90 second video totally won me over. This guy was too much of a sweetheart to be hating on. He had a passion and was expressing his art through wrestling. It was one of a kind and millions of people loved it, That's all that matters at the end of the day. RIP
5508.11.2023skyesversion10.0This hurts. He's still supposed to be here. The wrestling world just feels empty without him. He was one of the main reasons why I started watching WWE as a little girl. The Wyatt Family was just so iconic. One of the most influential factions of all time. While I loved most of his characters, the Firefly Funhouse character just resonated with me so much. It was super entertaining and the theme song was super catchy. He is definitely one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. I just know he's up there with Brodie having a great time. Rest in peace, Windham. You've got the whole wide world in your hands. <3
5607.11.2023devourblast8.0A lot of people use terminology like "once in a generation" or "once in a lifetime" when referring to wrestlers to the point it often feels like exaggeration. When discussing Bray Wyatt, it is one hundred percent true. The epitome of untapped potential. He managed to do so much in the business and yet it hard not to feel like the best of him was yet to come. Rest in Peace Bray.

6705.10.2023GoldLiger9.0I've always liked Bray. Not so much Husky Harris, but Bray Wyatt specifically. From down-south cult leader to demonic prophet to The Fiend, the guy always had this spark for character work. His promo work is so effortless that he ended up getting people engaged when talking about nothing of any importance, his physical charisma is among the best in the world, his psychology and storytelling in the ring is up there as well, and he just has the right look for the character. In the ring he's a solid brawler and big man, but often needed a better opponent to make a standard pro wrestling match stand out (as in, without a story to tell or a stipulation to work with); I do think pure hossfights were an underrated style of his that he didn't do often because of his character, but he is pretty good at them without any smoke & mirrors, and of course as a stable leader directing traffic in multi-man tags he's exceptional. I think it's a shame that the only company with the budget to make some of his ideas come to life also has a truly terrible Creative department, and often unloaded awful material, nothing feuds that lasted 3-4 months with nothing on the line, and truly horrible finishes to his matches (you could make a proper Top 10 of bad Bray/Fiend match finishes that he isn't to blame for). EDIT: Having now lost him, Bray's career had so much potential still, and the magical thing about him is that he could still have made good on it if he had more time; people were always willing to see what he did next. There's a lot of What Ifs with him, especially since he only had only recorded match since my original comment, but I think it's remarkable that a guy like him managed to have the career he did in a company with the budget to make his ideas a reality. RIP Windham.
6803.10.2023Sheoko9.0Yes, he wasn't the best when it came to in-ring skills. We all know that. But damn, his creative mind, his ideas, the incredible characters he portrayed, the way he used storytelling as the best way to take us all with hime will always leave a mark in the history of this industry. Rest in peace, mister Rotunda.

7326.09.2023Hyunminlee9.0He was an amazing sports entertainer. He did not just show us wrestling, but the arts. The most creative wrestler ever. His gimmicks always gave me surprise. Wyatt Family stuff was the best part of his career. His feuds with Bryan, Cena, and the Shield were very impressive. Fiend was good too. Firefly Funhouse episodes were amazing and Fiends performances were scary and amazing. He returned to WWE last year, and I really hope he makes his good second run but.. this happened. I think he could do some great things as a producer too. I didn't like him sometimes but after he passed, I realized that I spent my good childhood times with him. I have only good memories of him now. His things will last forever. Now you got the whole world in your hands. Rest In Peace legend.
7422.09.2023ECWCWWEAEW9.0Bray Wyatt was the one with the most potential I was waiting and waiting and waiting for for years. Im glad he became world champion so early honestly espeically now. Its hard to cut through all the shit he had to go through, all the stops and starts and Vince deciding not to pull the trigger on him because he wanted to cling on to Taker and Orton so badly when Wyatt should have gone over them at the least, but at least he got a win over Cena eventually. There's no point in trying to thinkg past "what if" and how said and upsetting it is he's already gone at 36, but all the work he put in to his character and tried his best with the weird shitty matches he was given He will always be a 9 out of 10 for me

7718.09.2023Wrestle Fan11228.0Bray Wyatt is someone who has given so much but still had so much more to give. His passing was really unexpected and he left way too soon. While booking has screwed him multiple times, it does not affect the kind of wrestler he is because he always did his best with whatever material or storyline he was given. He may not be the most graceful guy when it comes to the ring but his matches are solid. Yes, Bray Wyatt has had multiple bad matches but he is still a capable wrestler in his own right who can work to a good enough match up (never a great one sadly imo). However, his in-ring work pales in comparison when it comes to his character. Bray has always basked in the character department and I would argue he is one of the best at it. I enjoyed his portrayal of the Wyatt Family Cult Leader, Face of Fear, The Fiend, The Uncle Howdy Character. He just really brought new material and life to the WWE because of his unique characters that stands out a lot from the crop. Because of that, I believe he was a very good storyteller and his great ability of delivering promos enhanced that ability of his. He showed that wrestling skill is not everything in wrestling because he was more known for his character. I do wish he was more successful in the WWE but he did a lot too so I will not be taking from that. RIP Bray Wyatt.
7817.09.2023WrestlingBull7.0This one is really hard to rate. Not because of his passing. But because as Bray Wyatt the Cult leader it was easily a 9 without question, the whole Wyatt Family arc from 2013 to 2014 was pure gold with great 6-man tag matches and great singles matches too. The promos made sense, the segments were fun, it was a pleasure to watch everything involving Wyatt. But everything since then has been a wet fart, Starting with The New Face of Fear, the exact opposite of Cult leader, lots of nonsensical promos, constantly losing, lots of tease with Hunter and Rock that lead nowhere, jobbed to a broken Undertaker multiple times. The whole stuff with Matt Hardy, same thing but even worse as he was at his lowest in term of star power. The Fiend thing was unwatchable, the Firefly Fun House could've been a fun TV Show but not a good wrestling gimmick especially when it lead to Alexa Bliss destroying an entire division. And unfortunately his last gimmick was a mix of everything that made me stop caring about Wyatt, nonsensical promos, awful match, nonsensical segments like Howdy turning on him then acting like nothing happened the very next week. Anyway lets end this on a good note, Thank you Windham for the Wyatt Family, it was a joy to watch, rest in peace.

8304.09.2023CCSMIT22 I'm sorry, but he stinks. I've been watching a lot of his work since he passed away and outside of a few matches, he was really really bad. He was just so slow and immobile. His moveset was boring. I hated the spooky stuff. Once he turned into the fiend and started no selling everything it was unbearable. Bryan Danielson is a complete miracle worker to be able to get the matches out of Bray that he did. He had some really good promos though and I enjoyed his work with the Wyatt family. It just seemed like he regressed greatly over time.
8402.09.2023Vanstyler4.0I give him some points for trying new things, he tried to be the mainstay of a new era of horror characters with mixed results. In the ring is another story, boring and atrocious. It's sad that he had to leave so soon, he still had a lot to prove and try, it's a pity that that moment will never come.
8531.08.2023OnyxGuard7.0
8629.08.2023Erdrick4.0You really need to break Windham Rotunda's career up into its separate stages and grade them individually, because the quality varied so wildly. As Duke Rotundo and Husky Harris, Rotunda was a generic green kid that you could see some potential in. Axl Mulligan was an embarrassing Jason Voorhees rip-off. Rotunda eventually hit his stride as Bray Wyatt, a sinister cult leader with a team of misfits behind him. During that period his matches were pretty good, his promos were just the right level of sinister and cryptic, and he fit in well as a mostly realistic character within the context of a professional wrestling show. The downswing of his career came when he got some measure of creative control, where he devolved into spooky magical nonsense. The nadir involved evil dolls, ghost possession, a children's television show parody, and - worst of all - an alter-ego named "The Fiend" that looked like a reject from a haunted corn maze wearing a Spirit Halloween clown mask. Rotunda's matches suffered horribly during that period, as the pace slowed down to a crawl from his already-methodical style and his status as a magical creature caused him to ignore most of his opponents' offense. The illogic of the character was so extreme that "The Fiend" was apparently an immortal demon with power over time and space, completely impervious to all damage, and able to regenerate his body from being burned to ashes, but could still lose a normal professional wrestling match to a normal professional wrestling move. Utterly ludicrous. Before his untimely death he was involved in further shenanigans revolving around another ghost or whatever the masked "Uncle Howdy" was supposed to be and Mountain Dew. It's impossible to know whether Rotunda would've been able to get back on track as a serious wrestler down the line, though given the cartoonish folderol that he seemed to prefer I rather doubt it.
8728.08.2023martizzletae10.0There are few people who were able to speak to a crowd quite like Bray Wyatt. From the first word he said, I was hooked. From the leader of the Wyatt Family to The Fiend to the White Rabbit, the creativity this man oozed was indescribable. Not everyone in wrestling needs to be five-star machines, he used the ring as a canvas for his art. Like it or not, Bray's impact in wrestling will be felt for generations to come. Man, just gone too soon... but at least he's amongst the fireflies now. LONG LIVE THE EATER OF WORLDS!
8828.08.2023IronicallyFiendish A hero who was lost way too soon. One of the most creative minds in modern era wrestling, and rightfully compared to legends before him like The Undertaker and Sting. Whilst not the most extraordinary in the ring, could put on strong matches with interesting twists
8928.08.2023juiceisloose Bray seemed like he had a creative mind for the business, but during his last years with the company nearly everything he attempted to do in a wrestling ring unfortunately came out bad. I wish he had gotten into the movie business, whether writing, producing or directing horror movies because he seemed to geniunely like that stuff. His in ring work was never really satisfactory but had believable and intense promos which I really liked. RIP

So amazingly creative in this bussiness, he had it all and he did it all almost to perfection. My favorite wrestler of this era, no doubt about it, I liked everything about him since day one cause he was so captivating, having amazing feuds with the likes of John Cena, The Shield (with The Wyatt Family), The Undertaker, and so many more. And of course, as a future wrestler, one of my inspiration with all of those awesome atributes (In Ring, Promos and creepy out of the ordinary gimmicks) which will be hard to top or even be on his level. Rest in peace, legend...he finally reunited with his brother Brodie.

9527.08.2023Gold Fists7.0I used to be on the bandwagon supporting the idea that The Fiend was a great character, but I'm glad that I hopped off. I had no reason to ever think that, as Bray Wyatt is one of the weirdest and most overrated guys in a while. People say he can cut a promo, but all he does is passionately shout a bunch of rambling nonsense. Horrible in the ring and had one of the worst matches ever with his Fiend persona in HIAC with Rollins. It doesn't make sense how he can go from surviving 11 curb stomps to losing to a single RKO. He had one of the most hyped returns of 2022, had one bad MOUNTAIN DEW gimmick match, and then leaves for half a year. Anyone who jobs to this fool is set for guaranteed failure (LA Knight is too talented; a rare exception). Triple H never should've brought this goof back. EDIT: Now that he's gone, I feel terrible for being so harsh on his recent run. I never knew that his case was life-threatening and, as a matter of fact, I'll be quite oddly nostalgic for his days as a swamp leader. And although most of his ideas were strange, they were all unique and creative in their own way, and for that, I respect him. Rest easy, Windham.
9627.08.2023nothingleftinside8.0You gotta admit, he was always swinging for the fences with creative ideas. More misses than hits I'm afraid, but wrestling needs people like this because character drives this business, as much as many fans wouldn't like to admit. It may be years before we really see his influence felt, but hopefully his death is an inspiration to those on the come up to focus on character and try new things. The Cena match from mania 2020 is probably his crowning achievement; all WWE fans should give it a chance. The feud with Daniel Bryan is also quite good and contains many memorable matches and promos. Speaking of promos, the guy has dozens of great ones; he was an extremely charismatic and inspirational speaker; almost messianic. I think only CM Punk can really be said to be any better at promos in the last 20 years. Do yourself a favor and look up his greatest hits on the mic, he really deserves a watch. A for promos, B+ gimmick/look, C minus in-ring. To be fair, he wasn't the greatest between the ropes but he always brought character into his matches, which is so important. Bray the character and Bray the wrestler were one in the same. There's not enough of that these days. When paired with a talented opponent the matches delivered (except the several infamous times when they didn't, earning him the minus). I think cagematch has his rating just right at 7.5, but I will round up to an 8 because I think his influence will be felt for years to come.
9727.08.2023QueenOfWrestling8.0Bray was never a best bout machine, but he was an great worker and a very gifted story teller. Pushing wrestling past it's normal convictions, most of what he did was soiled by bad booking which is very unfortunate. Even with his booking, it's impossible to deny the attraction he drew from wrestling fans. He was special presence that was undeniable. and it is unfortunate he'll never reach the heights he should have. Rest in peace Wyatt, the fireflies will miss you
9826.08.2023Minorsmile097.0Bray Wyatt is... weird. He's a creative guy, and had a lot of interesting ideas, but I didn't think most of it was executed that well. He had really entertaining feuds here and there, but they were pushed along by too much other dreck. He's not bad in the ring, but he definitely peaked with the Wyatt Family. The Fiend was cool, but it was brought down really hard by bad booking. I don't know how much of it is his fault, and I'm sure he's a great guy, but his run in WWE is just a dartboard of quality. EDIT: I had Bray at a 6, but I'm marking him down to a 3 now. He was a genuine star at one point, but his recent run's been terrible, no idea where he even is now. One of Triple H's worst rehires, I regret having been excited. EDIT 2: Having understood the reason for his recent run's sudden stoppage, I think I vastly overlooked Wyatt's talents for a while. He was very creative with The Fiend, and genuinely fantastic with the Wyatt Family, and he seems to be beloved by just about everyone in the business.
