Nick Mondo

[7.0] "If I had to rate Nick Mondo by his influence and legacy I would rate him a 10 because he probably has to be the most influential indy deathmatch wrestlers in the entire wrestling industry, many wrestlers today were inspired by him even though he had a very short career, but I'm rating wrestlers by their skill and not their legacy and influence. Nick Mondo is actually a good wrestler he's definitely not on the skill of other wrestlers like Bryan Danielson or Kenny Omega but he still is a great talent. Even though Nick Mondo is a good wrestler I probably would've gave him a 8 if he didn't botch a lot because looking back at some of his CZW matches from mostly 2002 you can see him messing up some of his moves. Another reason why I'm rating him a 7 is also because of the performance that he had for CZW's Tournament of Death 1 and 2, he had such a great run in Tournament of Death with the first one having him make it to the finals against Wifebeater (Which in my opinion is a legendary match) and the second one where him and Zandig were on the roof, where Zandig hit a Mother F'n Bomb off the roof onto some tables and light tubes which ended Mondo's career, but also became the most popular spot in CZW history. Mondo's promos are just okay though they aren't the best. That's probaly about everything I have to say about "Sick" Nick Mondo"

[8.0] "Nick Mondo is pretty good, easily the best of his time. Honestly, Mondo would have fared much better in later CZW years with more skilled wrestlers than Nick Gage, Zandig, Wifebeater, and others. So, what I'm saying is, was Nick Mondo ahead of his time? Yes and no, he had more skill than any other deathmatch wrestler of the time, but objectively, that skill gap was the standard for the non-deathmatch segment of CZW (think Sonjay Dutt, Ruckus, Chris Hero, maybe Trent Acid). Their matches are (for lack of a better word)... Tough, based on who could take the most, with heavy punishment against the barbed wire and light tubes, Mondo was the one who did the most, spots, aerial moves and pretty good speed, I'm sure if he had stayed in CZW he would have had some incredible matches against the likes of Danny Havoc, Scotty Vortekz, Drake Younger, Sami Callihan, Thumbtack Jack and more. Nick Mondo is a good wrestler, could he have been better if he was on a better roster? Without a doubt."

[5.0] "Mondo was a deathmatch wrestler who took a lot of crazy bumps, but that doesn't make him a good wrestler. He wasn't even good at deathmatch wrestler because he bled like crazy and got injured to the point where he had a 4 year career. It doesn't take skill to bleed. He was a big fish in a small pond for a short amount of time. It's not a career deserving of a high rating."

[5.0] "Look, I get that he's a legend in the indie deathmatch community of the 2000's, but a 8.39? Really? He was an icon in CZW, but that doesn't mean he's the best of the best - he was a decent wrestler but couldn't carry a match destined to be bad, and he took some insane bumps, some of which were probably incredibly stupid to take. But in terms of indie deathmatch rating, he's still a highlight, and had a good look and gimmick for what he was."

[10.0] "Incredible wrestler. Mondo has earned his legacy, which is him being a properly good wrestler and capable of some really gnarly deathmatch stuff. His matches with Messiah are incredible. Also, my non-wrestling friends favorite wrestler!"

[10.0] "I watched his documentary twice and not only is this guy a deathmatch legend, but he was super athletic, could actually wrestle and has many awesome moves. I don't like deathmatch wrestling but I definitely have a ton of respect for this guy."

[8.0] "In my opinion, one of the very best deathmatch workers not representing Japan. Incorporated some martial arts and high flying inbetween the death-defying stunts that eventually made him realize it was time to call it a career, now seemingly a filmmaker. Not bad."

[10.0] "Giving him a 0 is a clear disrespect to Sick Nick Mondo. I know that he isn't a technical master or a great highflyer. He was mainly a deathmatch wrestler and what made him popular were the spots. Knowing that, watching his matches, you can see him do the basics of wrestling plus clean moonsaults or 360 splashs. Maybe some of his moves were rusty but he was above average in ring. Putting a 10 based in deathmatch wrestlers, a legend whose legacy lives even though he wrestled for 4 years."

[8.0] "He was such a talented wrestler OUTSIDE of the deathmatch craziness. Such a shame he never got opportunities in more traditional matches."

[10.0] "A legacy that lives on 17 years later is the biggest testament to what Mondo gave in the ring. Most who came and went as quick as he did are half remembered or forgotten by this point, but Mondo still burns brightly. He definitely hat the 'it factor' even if he never fully developed into a smooth and clean worker. Had he stuck around for a little longer he was a guy who could have gone place ? he had the look and ability, just needing some more ring work and polish to really elevate himself above the deathmatch niche and towards doing bigger things as a regular talent. A tighter and crisper Mondo would have excelled in TNA's x-division had he stuck it out until 2005/06. Alas what he gave us was one of the most exhilarating hardcore careers of our time, he really was a wrestler who did deathmatches and not just a deathmatch wrestler."

[0.0] "Nick Mondo was absolutely awful. Sure he could do stunts and bleed all over the place, but any idiot can throw themselves through tables and slice their forehead with a razor blade. His wrestling was awful, his brawling looked terrible, and the guy couldn't transition his way out of a wet paper bag."

[10.0] "Nick Mondo is simply a great entertainer and a performer. He accomplished and did so much in such a short time."

[10.0] "Sometimes the greatest things come in the smallest packages and "Sick" Nick Mondo is a great example of that. While he may have never made it into the big leagues such as WWE, TNA, etc. he was still an outstanding performer. His character and wrestling style fit him so well and most of the time, he executed it all to near perfection. He was no doubt in my opinion, one of THE best wrestlers of the indy scene."

[4.0] "A crazy spot-mokey who brought something new to the ring, but still was involved in way too many dreadful matches while in CZW."

[9.0] "ah Nick Mondo. His career was very short and many of his matches was like watching the cartoon Ren & Stimpy. They were often gross and disgusting, full of blood, high risk moves and the fallings of people from high places onto tables, light tubes or concrete, and despite all of these characteristics that would make Lou Thesz, Jack Brisco and Shohei Baba turn in their graves, at the same time, Mondo's matches KICKED ASS! He had a good foundation as a wrestler (trained by Al Snow) to go along with putting himself through matches that made him look like the victim of a car accident by the end of it, and while it's sad that he had to retire before reaching his wrestling prime, he left behind a unique wrestling legacy, which included bloodbaths in CZW and good singles matches against the likes of a young CM Punk."

[8.0] "Leider nicht mehr aktiv. Ganz großer im Hardcore Bereich, der einfach unglaubliche Spots abgeliefert hat. Wer Deatmatches mag wird ihn lieben."

[8.0] "Hat die CZW aufjedenfall nach vorne gebracht und unglaubliche Spots geliefert die zu 100% seinem Namen entsprechen.... Unscarred hat ihn mir nochmal symphatischer gemacht, denn dort scheint es als ob er das was er tut, tut weil er es für die Fans tut. Kann natürlich auch nuur so aufgezogen sein. Von mir bekommt er aufjedenfall : 8 Punkte"

[8.0] "Meiner Meinung nach einer der Besten Death Match Wrestler Ever. Mit Drake Younger und Necro Butcher bildet er die Top 3 der Death Match Historie. Schade dass er nicht länger antreten konnte."

[4.0] "Total Overrated! Bei diesem Mann kann ich absolut verstehen wieso viele sagen Deathmatch Wrestling hat nichts mehr mit Wrestling zu tuhen, den von Häusern & Trucks springen kann ich auch! Ich bin ein großer Fan von Deathmatches, allerdings fand ich seine Spots damals absolut übertrieben. Dazu kommt noch dass die Privatperson absolut arrogant & Geldgeil ist & von technischem Wrestling NULL versteht! Gib Ihn 4 Punkte, da er wenigstens Verstand hat, das Deathmatch Wrestling im allgemeinem voran gebracht hat & weil ich Fighting the still Life cool fand ;)"

[8.0] "Übelst schlechter Wrestler, aber wohl der beste Deathmatch-Wrestler aller Zeiten! Ich habe viele Deathmatches von ihm gesehen und ich wurde bei keinem von ihm enttäuscht! Wrestlerisch sicherlich im 4. 0 Bereich, aber im Deathmatchbereich auf jeden Fall die 10. 0."

[10.0] "Einfach nur legendär. Toller Wrestlingstil und unglaubliche Bumps haben ihn zu einem der wohl besten Hardcore-Wrestler ever gemacht. Seit dem Ende seiner Karriere sind Deathmatches zu einem langweiligen unmotivierten Gebrawle verkommen. We miss you Mondo!"

[10.0] "Er hat Ultraviolent/Deathmatch-Wrestling erst zu dem gemacht, was es heute ist. Jeder Fan wird sich noch lange an die große, burtale Schalcht mit Zandig beim TOD 2 erinnern. Der Mann ist einfach Kult."

[8.0] "Ein absolut sympathischer und charismatischer Deathmatch-Wrestler, wobei die Betonung eindeutig auf "Deathmatch" liegt. Hatte, meiner Meinung nach, Defizite in den Grundtechniken. Dennoch war es für mich immer eine Freude ihn innerhalb und außerhalb des Rings zu sehen."

[8.0] "Von dem was ich gesehen habe, hat er auch gute Aktionen abseits von "Deathmatch"-Wrestling. Er hat wohl einfach zuviel gegeben, wenn er sich geschont hätte, vielleicht hätte er es bis nach TNA geschafft? Schade eigentlich. Er hat ja Talente abseits vom Wrestling wie Zeichnen, alllerdings glaub ich nicht, dass er damit jemals groß rauskommt."

[8.0] "In der CZW zugegebenermaßen totaler Kult, von den CZW Marks wird er geradezu vergöttert. Wer das Tournament of Death gesehen hat, weiß, warum kurz danach Schluss war."

[8.0] "Einer der wenigen Death Match Wrestler die mich wirklich mitreissen konnten niemand spielte den Psycho so gut wie er. Seine Doku könnt ich mir immer wieder ansehen. Einzigster Minuspunkt die Geschichte mit der wXw."

[10.0] "Ach was waren das noch Zeiten wo Nick Mondo imme rbei dne CZW Shows zu sehen war. Super Death Match und Spot Wrestler. Nick war weg und die CZW hat nur noch halb so viel Spaß gemacht."

[10.0] "Sehr viel Charisma & ein klasse Worker, ja, im Hardcorewrestling. Warum die Tatsache, dass er vor allem in Deathmatches angetreten ist, ihm hier von einigen Minuspunkte einbringt, verstehe ich nicht. Das war nunmal sein Stil und den hat er beherrscht wie kaum ein Zweiter seiner Generation."

[4.0] "Deathmatch Wrestler wie jeder andere, bei so einem überpuschten Hype ziehe ich sogar noch was ab. Gegen Ende sogar noch eine richtige Diva geworden..."

[4.0] "Mondo ist nicht mehr als ein unterdurchschnittlicher Wrestler, der nur in Deathmatches einigermaßen überzeugen konnte. Allerdings musste man bei ihm oft daran zweifeln, ob er geistig noch voll auf der Höhe war. Mal abgesehen davon ist ihm auch der "Hype" um seine Person vollkommen zu Kopf gestiegen."

[10.0] "Geisteskrank, absolut, aber Vorreiter der Szene, denn wenn man in 90% der Videos mit den sickest Bumps drin vorkommt und immer noch lebt, muss man einfach ne 10 bekommen"

[10.0] "Der Typ war schlicht und einfach wahnsinnig. Ist trotz schwerer Verletzungen immer wieder angetreten und hat ein paar der schlimmsten Bumps aller Zeiten gezeigt. Respekt."

[10.0] "'Sick' Nick Mondo... vorallem für seine riskanten Bumps bekannt, konnte aber auch wrestlerisch überzeugen. Hat leider einen hohen Tribut für seinen Job zahlen müssen."

[10.0] "Sein Bump bei ToD 2 hätte meiner Meinung nach nicht sein müssen, vieleicht würde er dann heute noch im Ring stehen. Schade eigentlich denn seine Matches haben mich immer begeißtert."
