Oh but if she was super hot I bet shed get an extra couple numbers. Comeon, man. She was very important to ROH. Improtant enough that she deserves a bit of credit."

I absolutely love her in the ring, she's a technical genius and deserved every title she's ever won. Maybe her promo skill and character could use work. But you can't disregard her legendary status."

[7.0] "More of an asset to ROH than a consistent talent, but an important one nonetheless. Given the company's near-complete lack of a women's division throughout its history, it's pretty obvious the Sumie is basically the most important woman in company history (alongside Maria Kanellis perhaps). She's helped ROH's relations with Japanese promotions, namely NJPW, and helped young lions on excursion in the US get indie bookings on the side. As a talent, she's a very solid hand with veteran instincts who can slot into any position she's needed, and despite the travesty that was the Women Of Honor Championship, she did deserve to be a champion in the company at least once. In ROH's modern women's division she's shown that she has more ability than people realized, since they actually built a division of several talented women and treat it with respect, and has put on some really solid matches with young talent like Rok-C, Trish Adora, and Ashley Vox. Also she did MMA apparently, so respect for that."

[6.0] "Since my original review 3 years ago, I've had a serious rethink and change of heart about Sumie Sakai. Having seen her work during the new-look ROH women's division, I think she is a really solid veteran who can get a lot out of younger wrestlers and delivers competent matches for the most part. Nothing she does will blow you away but she can direct a match well and wrestles a safe style. Also has a charming presence. She recently worked a wonderful match with newly crowned ROH women's champ Rok-C, for the first round of the tournament. Before that she also had a strong showing against Vita VonStarr who's still a bit green. Sakai got a lot out of it, carrying Vita to a good match. At this stage in her career, I don't think Sumie will reach any higher but props to her for continuing to work hard and staying so loyal to ROH for nearly 20 years."

Some people may accuse her of lacking the talent of other Japanese wrestlers, which might be partially true, but then again a vast majority never have to spend most of their careers adjusting to the North American style."

[3.0] "I find Sumie Sakai incredibly dull as a character and a barely adequate worker even in her best years (a decade ago or so). Age and injuries have made her in-ring work truly terrible these days, but somehow worse her character and personality haven't evolved to compensate: it seems like Sumie Sakai's gimmick these days is that of having zero personality and being an utterly uninteresting character. I'll pass, thank you very much."

[8.0] "I feel that Sumie isn't given enough credit. She isn't like her contemporaries today, but that considering that most of the SHIMMER women of the time she started weren't either. She's a legend for being an original of RoH, who has put over countless women in her career. She is loyal to RoH and has worked to help other women grow, and develop. She's a strong worker, who can wrestle good matches on a regular basis. It's also tough to judge her on her current work, considering how long her career has spanned. She's a 47 year old, 21 year pro, and people expect her to be quick, and agile like the women around her. She wrestles pretty damn great for a woman her age."
