407.03.2024ClawIzuka0.0Being friends with the Elite got him a lot of places, somehow has booker of ROH. Then he got called out for some terrible stuff with an underage girl and rightfully never got a real chance again. Unfortunately some idiots like Santino Marella want to save his image, and now he seems to be wrestling in some terrible canadian indy promotions where nobody seems to care about him. Not the biggest fall from grace I've seen but it honestly sucks people still trying to use him to get themselves noticed. Even as an active wrestler he was okay, I think the only thing I really liked was the weird bird sounds. The UK indy boom helped him get noticed but he always seemed the week link in the bullet club or the elite so its not a suprise AEW didn't pick him up.

1001.01.2024Vanstyler8.0One of the most idiotic individuals in the world, which is sad because I think he really has talent. At the time I think he exuded a high amount of charisma in the ring and it was easy to get attached to his work. I would have liked to see him in AEW, but that can never happen.

1325.11.2023GoldLiger4.0If you asked me in 2016, I'd say Marty Scurll was one of the best talents on the indie scene surpassed only by Chris Hero. His work during the heyday of PROGRESS and the rising years of RevPro alongside the obligatory PWG appearances and scattered Euro indie matches was just great stuff across the board. But then the moment ROH signed him he regressed heavily, relying much more on the Villain gimmick and/or being in Bullet Club than his actual in-ring ability; in PROGRESS playing it up big-time was a good call but in ROH & NJPW it felt wrong, almost a precursor to House of Torture. I truly hated seeing him work for a number of years. Then he got called out for some unsavory shit and it was all downhill from there; apparently he passed on being part of AEW and it seems like AEW dodged a bullet on that one. Ultimately he had more mediocre or bad years of his career than good and his personal life (and gall to keep trying to get bookings) sour me on even his best work. There was a stretch of maybe 2 years where he was one of the top prospects of the UK Indie Boom, but the fact that he didn't quite make it like Ospreay & ZSJ did both makes sense and is for the best.

1802.10.2023Justt6.0Marty was over back in 2015 to 2017 I would say. He never was a incredible wrestler, but a good performer as a singles junior guy for the Elite/Bullet Club. His matches against Ospreay were great and are worth watching. Sadly, he made poor life and career choices and now he's wrestling for small shows. A really downgrade for a guy who wrestled Okada in one of the most important shows of all time.

2306.07.2023gazwefc8.0Good technical wrestler, good charisma, has a way of connecting with the crowd and then found a great gimmick as the villain. ROH needed to put the world title on him instead of Rush. Should have jumped ship to AEW with the rest of the elite. Hoping to see him wrestle more regularly in the US sooner rather than later.

2707.06.2023Bullshark10.0The fact Marty Scurll is still wrestling shocks me. His gimmicks were never great, and his wrestling was on the high end of average. Then, he made some poor career choices not to go to AEW, and then poor life choices which cost him any credibility he still had at that point. At this point, he's lucky he can wrestle anywhere. He was a true villain, at least that can be said.

3104.05.2023Burning Back Fist0.0You know before he was outed for being an absolute knob I didnt find his wrestling or character work to be that entertaining or great whatsoever and that is a 100% truth. Now to see this sack slowly easing his way back into the United States independent scene is just depressing really. He had his shot and blew it, stay out of the business and let others who deserve a spot on the cards he is on have a chance. No difference between this fool and Velveteen Dream only Dreams platform and audience was much larger so he will never come back. Same cannot be said for a true villian scumbag Scurll, any promotion and promoter that choses to book him should be ashamed.

3519.02.2023Brutish Dandy6.0Another guy who I just don't much get the appeal of. He's solid in the ring but I just never connected with him. Decent look and good choice of finisher, though. Good enough for a solid undercard act.
3612.01.2023benh25.0He was a really good worker domestically before landing in ROH. Found himself a gimmick that elevated him but it often detracted from his in-ring product. Never had a good look but there's some decent charisma there and he certainly knew how to work the crowd.

4006.10.2022Reinhard Lohengramm5.0A garbage human being with unfortunately some good matches to his match. With the Elite his character work was acceptable but by himself he was kinda cringy and had little presence. Serious compare his 2019 BOTSJ compared to his previous years. I agree with sentiment that he serious coasted off the bc. He also sort of sucked as a heel, like way too wink wink nudge nudge.
4105.09.2022jamzell000.0If Marty had never joined BC I wonder how much better his work would've been. Ospreay became the only guy who could get him to actually do anything after 2017 and its a damn shame. Dude was a workrate monster and a damn good promo for years and then decided to coast hard off the BC fame before he was even out of his prime. Now the dude can't find work anywhere with actual eyes on it and honestly it's deserved. Going from one of the bright spots in britwres to coasting and being awful in BC to being outed as a fucking predator. Absolute waste of talent

4616.07.2022arkhamoutlaw100.0The allegations against him are some of the most sickening I've heard in modern wrestling. But even before they were made publicly available, I found him to be putrid in the ring, on the microphone and even aesthetically. Never liked a match he was in, never enjoyed an angle involved with him, he made wrestlers like Okada have bad matches when he got involved with them. Should be eradicated from the business entirely.

4813.06.2022Shoot Headbutt Lover0.0I first heard of this guy from TNA's British Bootcamp, at the time he did nothing for me as I was more of a Rockstar Spud fan. And then I saw his entrance in ICW where he had a new gimmick of basically being The Penguin from the Batman comics, so I was alot more into that persona. Unfortunately I just never liked Marty in-ring wise as I find him really boring and shtick heavy, once you've seen one Marty Scurll match you've seen them all. I also find his series with Ospreay highly overrated as once again they just repeat the same spots with the same beats, there's nothing different about any of those matches.

5029.05.2022Pinkd564.0A career split in two. Before his big international break in 2017 he was probably the best worker in the United Kingdom. Work-rate was comparable to Ospreay, ZSJ etc and would probably be around an 8 rating. Since he started getting involved with the Elite his work-rate plummeted and started working half speed. His reputation (forged in the years prior) preceded him so I assume he thought he didn't need to work as hard.

5412.05.2022PunkPariah0.0What a let down of a wrestler. So much talent, only for it to be wasted on an absolute waste of a piece of shit like Marty Scurll. I sincerely hope he never gets another booking. I know he's working in south america rn, but he shouldn't be allowed to work anywhere. Garbage human who deserves the worst.

5627.04.2022DanTalksRasslin7.0A strong technical wrestler with a great deal of charisma, Scurll knew how to work the crowd well and created an entertaining character in "The Villain" with a good amount of crowd interactivity. The only major flaw in Scurll's in-ring game was his penchant for occasionally getting too swept up in his schtick and having it distract from the flow of the match or making the match become a bit self-indulgent in length. Scurll was at one time arguably Ring of Honor's most valuable player; arguably the rightful winner of their World Title at the ROH/NJPW show at MSG in April 2019, and the performer they threw virtually everything - including a Head Booker position - at to avoid losing him to the nascent AEW. Unfortunately, it was all for naught, as a sex scandal soon rendered Scurll persona non grata in the major promotions, and seems to have permanently stalled his career in at least the reputable wrestling scene at large.
5713.04.2022thebigmilkman0.0While his talent cannot be denied his reputation and actions have done more damage to the wrestling business and completely overshadows his accomplishments and talent. The actions that he admitted too is enough to hope he's completely erased from wrestling history forever and that not even the scumiest of scumbag promoters don't let him anywhere near their shows

6217.01.2022Sloppy Sammy0.0One of the many wrestlers exposed as a sex pest during the #speakingout movement on twitter. One of those guys that got over-hyped wrestling in the UK Indies, as soon as he started believing his own hype his performances went way downhill. That's just if you don't acknowledge the fact that he sexually assaulted a 16 year old girl. If you do you can see how he was a predator that abused his status in the cesspool that was the UK wrestling scene, and that pretty much wipes out anything to do with whether or not he was good in the ring.

6603.10.2021Luv all wrestling3.0Man, I'm so excited to see all the discourse and people tripping over themselves to defend a nonce now that Scurll is back wrestling. His wrestling talents was good I guess but so dependent on liking his gimmick, and it's pretty hard to like nonces so a lot of his work outside of LDRS has aged poorly. At least his Instagram is public so it's easy to see what wrestlers love the dude like Zack Ryder, EC3, Serena Deeb, ect.

7316.06.2021WrestlingStats17.0Assets: Honed his image and promo skills in to become a relatively captivating on-screen personality. Is a very sound technical wrestler. Is a proven commodity as a title holder and faction leader. - - - Flaws: His career has been halted by allegations of an inappropriate encounter with a fan. Never had immaculate size. Hasn't been treated as a true main eventer in North American promotions. - - - Career Potential: Admirable national league wrestler and faction leader.

8706.08.2020Ma Stump Puller7.0Scurll is a strange case: usually most wrestlers will (most of the time) get better with age up until their mid to late 30's, while Scurll seems to get worse with time. His early career on the UK indies and such was amazing. Solid in the ring, a unique heel gimmick that got him noticed, and the pacing to make great matches, I'd definitely say he was one of the high prospects going into his eventual big shot in a major company. His NJPW stuff started well but went way down after a while, and it was clear he was phoning it in a lot of the time or doing stupid comedy crap with the Elite, which reduced his stock massively and kinda showed bad habits that consistently were being shown, namely not being very clean in the ring when it really matters and having a lot of padding and "signature" moves that he'd spam in every match regardless of context. If you can't even have a good match with Okada of all people, there's a big problem. Scurll post Elite is just sorta around, his ROH work is mostly tag matches, which he does fine in, but nothing outstanding. He CAN have really good matches once in a blue moon, but until his consistency gets better, I can't say he's anything better than decent, which is a problem considering he's capable of so much more.
