216.09.2023Russo8.0Frye is a very interesting case, he was an MMA guy and wasn't a 5 star match machine for sure, but despite that he was able to fit in quite a bit with wrestling, and legitimately seemed to care about putting on good performances. In a world where we're used to seeing mma people come to wrestling to give a performance that sometimes borders on crappy, this guy is gold.

414.04.2023face painted legend8.0Don Frye is probably more known for his PRIDE and UFC tenures, but he did have a stint as a pro wrestler in the late 90's/ early 2000's working for New Japan Pro Wrestling. I thought that despite stint of training for professional wrestling being very brief, he fit in perfectly over there on that roster because that style is right in his wheel house, since a lot of the Japanese wrestlers over there came from some kinda shoot style background before they got in to wrestling ( since Japan doesn't have wrestling schools), and believe in keeping the "secret " alive. I think that's why he was so great over there is because all he to do was be him, be the predator that he was in UFC/PRIDE, and bring in his different aspects of expertise to that product. I know there was a long standing rumor that Brad was against him going to WWF or WCW based on how WWF used Shamrock and Severn, he was afraid it'd ruin him, but I take that with a grain of salt. I think Don would've been successful anywhere.

814.07.2021texasyosh8.0Although he was centered in MMA, the transition to pro wrestling for him was seamless, and had some very good matches.

1007.02.2019Shoot Headbutt Lover9.0Although an MMA dude, Don Frye could go in the ring (contrary to what he says about him not being a good wrestler), although he did maybe add to Inokism, he was mad talented in the ring.
