I was never really into his work in ECW but was surprised he never won a TV or Tag Title in ECW. Actually, nevermind the tag division was always stacked in ECW and Shane Douglas held the TV title hostage from '97 - '98."

Axl is in my top 50 wrestlers of all time."

MatZeClown wrote on 05.03.2021:
[5.0] "Good for deathmatch style matches. Not much at anything else. His life story got really sad towards the end. Axl died of a heroin overdose, shooting up in a McDonald's bathroom. Before that, he had been working out at a local gym, talking about how he was training for his WWE comeback. At some point, he had gotten a stroke and his 80-ish year old father came to the gym to cancel his membership because he couldn't work out anymore. The stroke wasn't publicized because most dirt sheet websites didn't care about him anymore. He eventually recovered to wrestle a bit more, before his death."

[4.0] "Axl was a decent brawler with no qualms about getting hardcore. He was a good midcard fixture of ECW's tag team division, where wild brawls were the order of the day, and had good tag team runs with both Ian Rotten (as Bad Breed) and later Balls Mahoney (as the Hardcore Chair-Swingin' Freaks). Unlike Balls, he didn't have the level of legitimate wrestling skill underlying his hardcore tendencies to cross over to top-level success, but Axl had respectable runs in both ECW and mid-level independents and picked up a multitude of singles and tag titles. Sadly both he and Balls, by coincidence passed within months of one another in 2016."
