126.03.2024Pigeon Scratch6.0Really hard to properly rate him, especially as a person. Sticking with wrestling here though, I can say that he was a character that was incredibly over and had an amazing look, and back in the day he wasn't too bad of a wrestler depending on his opponent. Things mostly fell a part more and more as time went on, however. He is a part of some of the worst and most deplorable fucking (literally) stories I have seen in professional wrestling. Katie Vick needs no introduction, the shit with Lita needs no introduction. Asides from those decrepit pieces of shit are just the straight up bad storylines, like being a part of the Authority. He had some good feuds too, especially with his kayfabe brother the Undertaker. It's just a shame they had no chemistry at all, and that feud became a little over the top (at least in the perspective of cheesy horror it works, and doesn't involve necrophilia or sexual assault). At least Hell No was good. Really, the best way to describe him was that he was one of the most notable characters to come out of the Attitude Era, a certain improvement from fake Diesel and Yankem, but he is also the epitome of bad booking, and the shit that WWE dribbled out in the 2000s thanks to Vince.

325.03.2024ultravioletshiroi8.0Boring overrated wrestler but gimmick and unique charisma made him over for a while before he started to feel stale late in his run. Kane literally managed to make his ugliness a part of his appeal. He had a cool look, a cool entrance and an intimidating presence. His wrestling skills are okay for a big man in terms of his ability to work but he always felt overshadowed by Taker in a way similar to Luigi compared against Mario due to them being storyline brothers. He was okay at filling the role of a big man powerhouse but his limited moveset makes it hard to feel excited to watch him wrestle. Most big wrestlers during his time fell into that category. His matches against high flyers like Rey Mysterio always appealed to me the most.

815.03.2024BruceMarcos5246.0Kane is an imposing character with an underwhelming performance. Match-wise, I don't think he has a handful of amazing matches to recommend. Most of his matches are very foolish and unrealistic. His slew of matches with Undertaker are only good on paper but terrible when executed. Despite being the monster-like character, WWE finds a way to make him comedic, most of it when he was a babyface. Also, Kane was one of the most inconsistent stars in WWE. He was only there as an emergency push in case the roster is lacking star power, someone is injured, or some stars are busy with the storyline. If doesn't need, he is only there for minor feuds or worse, getting sidelined. My positives are that he is a loyal guy and a respected veteran by his peers. Likewise, he is intelligent outside of wrestling. He had one of the most memorable debuts in WWE history in 1997 and no doubt his 1997-98 run was one of the most intimidating runs of his career. His momentum lapsed since 1999 until getting unmasked in 2003 regained it. One problem here is unlike the Undertaker, Kane lacks some allure and aura that he needs to make his character mesmerizing. I just hope WWE would put something uniquely to Kane and not just the counterpart of The Undertaker. Overall, a below decent wrestler with a potentially good gimmick, just poorly executed and lack of creativity.

1010.03.2024Zak222.0Lumbering, slow, boring wrestler. One of the absolute most overrated wrestlers of all time. His matches with the Undertaker, which in theory should be his best matches were poor as hell, just dull. Even when he was tagging with Undertaker or Daniel Bryant or Rob Van Dam, he was just so damn boring, he bought other people down as a result. I don't understand his high rating at all, call me a hater but I don't get it. I don't think there is a Kane or Isaac Yankem singles match that I've ever really enjoyed. To credit him, his initial reveal as the brother of the undertaker was very good and deserves to be iconic but in ring he lets it all down. He is among the worst WWE champions ever in my honest opinion. And the last decade of his career was largely pointless.

1403.03.2024TripleCrown6.0To me, it's kind of crazy to be rating Kane this low given how big he is in professional wrestling. His gimmick is what really made him special, his ability as a wrestler? Eh. Had great matches with the right opponents but you couldn't rely on Kane putting on an absolute clinic week in, week out. Decent on the mic, I wouldn't say he was terribly bad nor terribly good, he just managed to do a good enough job. Really hated his bumps for the pedigree finisher, looked very goofy and made the move look bad. Character work was excellent, in-ring was average, mic skills was good enough, definitely couldn't rate him higher than a 6 but he'll never be forgotten for his work in the WWE.

2817.01.2024Dntbamark9.0I wanted to give Kane a 10 because he was the entire reason I started tuning into the WWF in the late 90s. Kane was a unique and menacing character with a storyline shrouded in mystery and darkness. His sheer size and demonic mask added a level of fear to a character that could have easily come off as cartoonish. Obviously Kane was never going to be as successful as Undertaker but Kane has his own unique legacy that distinguishes from the hundreds of other giants that walked through WWE. Kane was a adaptive and versatile performer, he maintained and achieved a sense of relevance that spanned over multiple decades, adapting to changes in the wrestling landscape and evolving his character. He could do comedy, play babyface or play the monster heel and be able to achieve success while doing it further cementing a level of adaptability that few characters have. He was also INCREDIBLY versatile in the ring, showing the ability to be more than just a slow and plodding powerhouse by doing dropkicks, hurricaranas and other feats of athleticism that you wouldn't normally see from a 6'10, 330 pound man. Kane's unmasking in 2003 was a significant moment in his character's history and had a considerable impact on the landscape of WWE during that time. Most will say that is where his character began to fall by the wayside but I actually liked the move. Kane's unmasking represented a significant shift in his character dynamics. He was able to emote and use his facial expressions in ways that he never could, I also think him losing the mask made him a better in-ring wrestler. Most of downsides that Kane has, I think, comes down to booking decisions and routes where he allowed his character to be taken. Kane was involved in alot of tasteless and embarrassing storylines such as Katie Vick and the pregnancy angle he had with Lita. His lone WWF Championship reign was a product of hot-shotting and was detrimental to his character, I think they should have waited to send Kane at Austin or not send him at Austin at all. There was a ton of instances in his career where I think he should have protected his character more or just flat out said "no" to being apart of. He was never going to get fired or lose his spot so there was no need to put himself through so many humiliating moments that I'm honestly impressed he was able to recover from. I also think he is a terrible politician and his policies and Twitter feed make me despise him as a human being. Like with any wrestler, I separate the man from the performer but I think that is something that needs to be said. Still despite everything, Kane remains my all-time favorite and one of the best characters ever created.

3923.11.2023crs2856.0Before the Kane gimmick, he had several poor gimmicks that failed to get over with the audience. Kane saved his career with his connection to the Undertaker and his chemistry with Taker. Kane was very up and down with times he was great like Early Masked Kane or Team Hell No and bad ones like Corporate Kane or the Kane v Kane feud. Kane was always a solid big man in the ring, but his match quality could differ with different opponents. Solid on the mic but was never great to me.

4118.11.2023JediSaiyanMaster120310.0I have to be honest, rating Kane is difficult. Why? Because his best years are small compared to his worst years. And let me tell you, Kane has had a lot of bad moments in his run in WWE, some awful storylines and feuds that put a dent on his legacy. So why am I being generous and giving him a 10? Because the Kane that we all know and love from the Attitude Era up until he unmasked is one of the best characters the WWE has ever made. It's nice to see a character that compliments The Undertaker's character in many ways, makes for a fun storyline and even a great team (contradictory or not). Those early years were some of the best years to any wrestler could ever dream of having, he still had his moments here than there. While I'm not a fan of the "vegetative state" storyline or Team Hell No, I can't deny that Kane was either doing his best mic work or putting on tag team bangers every week, so it's at least not all bad. While not the best wrestler, he made up for it when it came to charisma and character work, one of the all time greats.

5504.10.2023Okaro1437.0Kane is a good wrestler at best. But his character work has been great and although his matches are dull. He brought prestige to the ECW Championship in the 2000s, he was a great tag team with Taker and Daniel Bryan. He might not have been the best World Champion but he was a good worker that kept us entertained for over two decades.

6113.09.2023ECWCWWEAEW6.0An imposing character, a great presence, fantastic in an idea sense, but when you look past the surface, the wrestler himself isnt much. Kane possibly has... NEVER? Had a great or outstanding singles match? So weird to say. He's memorable but left on his own and you can see his legacy is full of him really just riding the success of others, from being the kayfabe brother of the Undertaker, nearly guaranteeing longevity as long as he can keep up. Even his currently ugly political career he mostly has success to give the MAGA wave. Dude really cant do anything on his own it seems.

6504.09.2023CCSMIT226.0I like him and have fond memories of him as a kid, but lets be real, he never really had great matches. Most of his memorable moments were just weird vignettes or segments like when he lost his mask or MAY 19th. His gimmick matches that he was in so often weren't really even that good. He played a decent monster though.

7008.08.2023A Kane mark My favourite wrestler of all time. There's no need for me to talk about how awesome he was in his first few years but even when he was a jobber, or a normal midcarder, I enjoyed every moment he was in. His body language, facial expressions, the way he performs his moves or even the way he just walks towards the ring, all of them are perfect. No matter how much garbage Kane was put in, from Katie storyline all the way down to tag match with DX, he never failed to make me enjoy his presence.

7516.07.2023bigredtalk898.0One of my personal favorites, and I would love to be able to score him even higher, but ultimately, he was put in a lot of really bad storylines and he stayed a little past his expiration date. In fact, the former is probably why he was able to do the latter, as Vince probably loved that Kane was willing to go along with his insane storytelling ways. But when Kane was on, he was on. No, a big guy like him is never going to be Kenny Omega, but he could work for his size, and his presence and aura is the closest pro wrestling has ever come to a Michale Myers-like character. His run of promo work immediately after taking his mask off was excellent as well, if only bad booking didn't turn him into a joke he could have had a more meaningful late career. Corporate Kane? Seriously?

7707.07.2023mizzysha8.0Possibly in my top 10 all time favorites, Kane is a wrestler that I feel was more than a worthy counterpart to Undertaker. One of the most entertaining big guys to watch and his raw strength was absolutely ridiculous, I'm fairly certain only Mark Henry was stronger. The thing that severely held Kane back from that next level was WWE's constant butchering of his storylines after 2003. He got buried so many times and put through so much awful filler that lead nowhere, but before that he could basically do no wrong. By far the best character of the Attitude Era for my money. I couldn't possibly love Kane more than I already do but seriously, WWE dropped the ball hard with the constant shit angles.

8608.06.2023CoopyHoncho6.0Pretty overrated here. That's not to say he was bad but I think the goofy and awful were more abundant than the great and scary. That's why I'm going with a 6 here. Bizarrely for all the Wrestlemania matches he was in, only the first one with Undertaker was any good. If Kurt Angle can't get a great match out of you, something is wrong on your end. His initial maskless run breathed new life in the character and he was terrifying. It wore itself out by 2010 when he started feuding with the Undertaker...again...Team Hell No was probably the last great thing he did.
8705.06.2023Kanenite10.0One of the greatest of all time. The Kane character's debut arc is untouchable. The months and months of build up by Taker and Paul Bearer, all leading up to Badd Blood 1997 were amazing. His debut during the first ever Hell in a Cell was perfect and it was hands down the greatest Debut ever. A lot of people probably though he was simply someone who would exist for Taker to feud with until Wrestlemania 14 but he really became his own thing and lasted for decades! His run specifically from 1997 though 2002 with the full Masks was his peak. It was amazing to see someone so big move around the ring like he did, especially when he turned Face towards 1999 and expanded his moveset. In 2001 he had one of the most rememberable performances in a Royal Rumble match (the greatest Rumble match IMO) as well as amazing bouts with Triple H, Albert and Kurt Angle.
8805.06.2023Draculamura5.0Gimmick wurde leider schnell an die Wand gefahren - hat sich dennoch unglaublich lange gehalten. Im Ring und am Mic in Ordnung - als Politiker leider fragwürdig.

9004.06.2023Giantfan19806.0Dumb gimmicks aside. Glen finally hit the big time when he landed the Kane gimmick. He was great up until about 2003 but by that point he was getting like Big Show, stale, basic move set and wasn't really going anywhere. It's been years since I cared about his work and he hasn't really elevated past the Kane gimmick he has been doing for the last 20+ years. I thought he was getting stale back in 2003, how do you think I feel now?

9421.05.2023Leth997.0I have to not be thinking about Glenn Jacobs as a politician and start thinking about him in the ring. Certainly his longevity was shocking for a guy his size, but...really...did he really have that many good matches? I think his best one is of course the 2001 rumble, but not that many considering the years he got in WWE
9519.05.2023Number One Omosapien10.0Kane the wrestler is one of the best characters ever, with IMO the best debut ever and many classic storylines. Attitude Era Kane was a beast and legit scared me as a kid. However Kane the politician would get a negative rating on this site. But purely judged on what's in the ring I can't give this man less than a 10, he was unappreciated for too long
