125.03.2024krukster6.0He was big, but no Andre. Studd lacked charisma and a solid move set. He was good for a special attraction, but at that time WWF has wrestler taller and weighed more than Big John. Besides when Patera and Studd cut Andre's hair, he was not very memorable.

503.12.2023Conquistador374.0Dull. Struggled in the territories because he couldn't work. Struggled in the WWF outside of matches with The Machines. Underachiever. Only had a rather exceptional look/size and a solid promo, which actually made his matches even worse somehow. 4.25

920.05.2023Giantfan19805.0I only know Studd from his work in the WWF during the peak of the Rock N Wrestling era. He was one of the biggest heels (no pun intended) on the roster from that 1984-1986 period, but by the time he came back in 1989, it felt like his era had passed by as there were more interesting heels in the company now like Randy Savage, Rick Rude, Ted Dibiase and Mr Perfect. Not sure why Vince felt the need to push him to win the Rumble because there were a lot of fresh talent who could have benefited more from winning the Rumble and as it turned out, Studd's body was pretty trashed from injuries and he couldn't go anymore.

1402.04.2023crs2857.0Big John Studd has a legendary career where he proved his ability as a good big man in the ring. Was a better heel than face and was decent on the mic. Deserves his place in history and the WWE hall of fame.

2627.02.2020JEK 199110.0Great wrestler! His career did not last long. He was trained by Killer Kowalski. I personally did not like his mask gimmicks. He was very exciting to watch. He had feuds against Andre the Giant, Bob Backlund and Hulk Hogan. His moves the bearhug, punches and bodyslams were excellent. He was a giant and was great at wrestling. His match at Wresltemania 1 the $15, 000 Bodyslam Challenge was excellent. He was not great at promos. he was excellent as a heel. Not that great as a babyface. He should have been WWF Champion if it were not for Hulk Hogan. He took a hiatus for 2 and half years. Then he won Royal Rumble 1989 which was his biggest accomplishment. Sadly he did not get a bigger push! The man's career was short and died a few years later at a young age.
2726.07.2019KyleEnjoysWrestling5.0If Andre the Giant had never been born, I think the name Big John Studd would have a lot more significance today. It's hard not to look at Studd & not think "discount bin Andre". Not the worst big man I've seen, but memorable moments of his are few & far between.

3321.04.2018Gauntlet847.0The main problem I have with Big John Studd is that we just didn't see enough of him. I really enjoyed his work but he really only had a major in presence in just a few big events in the 80s.

4028.10.2016Squared Circle8.0I enjoyed his body of work. Decent on the mic. Effective in tag teams and singles. Big rival of both Andre and Hogan. Had a nice gimmick of no one can slam him. A very entertaining wrestler. Controlled the pace and the crowd. Could generate heat as a villain and even had a mini run as a face. Fit in nicely on the Heenan family. Gone to soon. Rip.

R. I. P. John William Minton

4730.10.2015mdkarl8.0John Studd's career at the top of the card really only lasted around 3 years. It took almost a decade for him to learn how to work. The majority of his early days was spent with forgettable gimmicks or under a mask in tag teams for small territories. Then came his big break put into a program with Andre the giant. Studd was taylor made to feud with Andre/and Hogan. The only thing that derailed his career was his health. At 38 years old Studd had to take a break from wrestling for a couple years. He returned for a very short cup of tea in 1989 but then was unable to continue. He died way too young at 47 in 1995. I feel Studd was a more impressive wrestler than say a Kevin Nash or a Sid Vicious who probably have better reputations today. Id compare him favorably to a guy like Kane. He was one of my favorites to watch even if he couldn't wow the high spot fan boys today

5327.11.2013RudeAwekining10.0Einer meiner Lieblings Big Mans .

Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, King Kong Bundy und mein Nutzername: Big John Studd. Ruhe in Frieden John Minton
