"Although pro-wrestling has had many fine athletes that pursued other careers or lifestyles instead of becoming legendary figures, George Gordienko’s story is unique to say the least. George Gordienko was an enigmatic character in pro-wrestling. he was considered one of the best shooters around by some of the best shooters around ( Stu Hart, Lou Thesz. Verne Gagne, Luther Lindsay, all thought very highly respected his shooter skills) He was a well-conditioned athlete out of the Canadian prairies and by many accounts could have been molded into a world champion. He was briefly associated with a communist party. He was arrested for distributing communist literature, which caused him to be deported and sent back to Canada. This would prove to dramatically alter the rest of his pro-wrestling career. Instead of pursuing a career in North America, In the 1960s and 1970s, George Gordienko became one of the most widely traveled ost widely traveled heavyweights in the world. He worked in Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran along with numerous European countries, where as an outsider he went head-to-head with local heroes. His career was actually ended during one such battle with German Olympian Roland Bock. He retired in 1976 at age forty-eight after having his ankle broken by Roland Bock in Germany. he becomes a highly successful artist who lived in Italy his art work brought in very good money. 2012 class of PWHF pro wrestling hall of fame"
