He seemed like a good prospect, with good physical charisma, some decent moves, legitimacy as a participant of toughman competitions, and an easy-to-root-for babyface gimmick as "Everybody's Homeboy" (being announced as hailing from whatever town the current show was being held in). After 9/11 he put his wrestling career on hold to join the US Army and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He returned to the ring and had a short run as a WWE developmental prospect, but it never panned out and he spent most of the remainder of his career on the North Carolina indy circuit, before largely retiring in 2009 to become a trainer at an MMA school (though he has occasionally returned to the ring in the 2010s). |
