[9.0] "Someone that I consider heavily underrated and deserved far more than being relegated to comedy bits. I loved his character in TNA, loved his Oppo brand suits, loved his skills in the ring, and what made me love how he wrestled was his match against EC3 in Hair vs Hair. It's arguably one of my favorite matches I've ever seen, and I wish more could come from it, but he eventually got stuck being a comedy act. I had hoped it'd change in WWE, but soon enough the guy would soon be stuck in more comedy roles to the point that they opted to parody his own wedding. I'm sure he was fine with it, but it always rubbed me the wrong way. It sucks that he's now retired(afaik anyway), as I feel he hadn't reached his fullest potential as a competitor, but I do believe he's highly underrated as a wrestler and deserved a bigger profile imho. 9/10"

Then I considered him a good comedian - because his rivalry with R-Truth for the 24/7 title is the only time this championship was interesting. But then I realized I had underestimated him - his Unsanctioned Match at 205Live and then competing in the tournament and fighting for contact at NXT proved that Maverick was a complete player. He was able to give not only good comedy and oratorical entertainment, but also really good matches. Thanks to his appearance, he was perfect for the role of an underdog."

It WWE currently with the 24/7 title, it is over the top & in your face. I think he has a longevity to him though & I expect he'll be around for a long time, especially if they keep him away from in ring action. It is worth noting that he's gone on record to say that he wants to get in the ring, but they don't see him in that role. If WWE can dial some of the hokeyness back some, I feel like he could be really fun. But for now, he's too much."

He's an easy underdog to cheer for and an easy chicken shit heel to boo. In the ring, he's not bad but not great either."

He can be brutal and the belt whippings he's dished out are so well done. For someone of his size and appearance, Spud has had an amazing career so far and may it continue. He is a born entertainer."

He's also skilled as a flyer. His matches are fast-paced. What impresses me is his ability to wrestle bigger, stronger, more hardcore guys in matches that are crazy and even bloody and still give 110%. Spud's always fun to watch, and that's not something I can say for a lot of the other guys on TV right now."

He can go in the ring too, using his size to his advantage in playing an easy-to-root-for underdog, and can sell extremely well. Though his size will prevent him from moving up to the main event level, as a supporting player he's a fantastic addition to the TNA roster."

This year, they are proving he can wrestle too, having a great feud with ECIII, adding victories and even a X-Division Title. And he can be colour commentator too! 2015 will be Spud's year!"

[10.0] "I have no idea what he was doing in the UK that led him to get a low rating in his early years, but modern day Spud is a revelation. I thought he could get no better than the perfection he achieved as a crony of the Carter Family in TNA, he played the part with uncanny ability ranging from promos perfectly designed to rile up the crowd, to exuding an incredible air of punchability at all times, not to mention his almost Heenan-esque gift (a phrase I don't use lightly! ) for comedic timing and selfless generosity when putting others over. But I think his recent face run may have surpassed even that, despite his tiny size he shows such fantastic and genuine heart and passion every time he steps out that you can't help but be downright inspired and love the little guy. Perhaps the best example is his recent hair vs. hair match with EC3, where he bled buckets but kept coming up for more until his body literally gave out. It was a truly inspiring sight to behold, and something everyone should make the time to check it out, whether you typically like TNA or not it is a great watch."
