Lucha Libre is just not his forte, but sadly, he keeps getting chances that other wrestlers deserve. 4 years into CMLL and he's in a lowcard spot where it seems like he's not trusted to do damn near anything other than the bare basics. I'll say this, though. He has improved his positioning in the ring, and doesn't need to be told to get out of the way by his opponents. Either he's friends with the office, or CMLL is this desperate to be seen as a place where foreign wrestlers want to go (the reality is that you have to be dirt cheap if you want to get steady bookings in CMLL as a foreigner)"

He has a great physique and a good vertical suplex, but those are about the only positives about him. Despite being trained and tutored by Ultimo Guerrero himself he constantly looks completely lost in the ring: at times he stands there with literally no idea on what to do next. Being fast-tracked to the midcard instead of building up experience in opening matches in Puebla and Guadalajara has only made the problem worse: put in a sink or swim situation, Dark Magic is clearly sinking. His terrible gimmick, a ripoff of the embarrassing GI Bro, is making things somehow even worse than they already are. And at 39 I fear he may not get any better."
