112.03.2024Conquistador372.0So imagine this, I came to rate this turd in the territories called "Thor" and it turned out to be, *THIS GUY*. He sooo SO SUCKED. Notably garbage but could somehow bump. He then moved on to be "Kevin Kelly" and The (Midnight) Rockers could get something watchable out of the guy. The (Midnight) Rockers could make dust collecting fun to watch. Still though, Sherri Martel was there too and she also can make anything fun. Then, "Nailz". EDIT: I dug deep and decided to watch more of his peak; his time in the AWA isn't horrible. The "Mr. Magnificent" stuff was good enough to not be outright insulting. With this new revelation, let's do some math. Thor = 0, "Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly = 4.75, Nailz/The Prisoner = 0. Leaving us with a 1.58 rounded up. (I originally rated him a 1)
225.11.2023JediSaiyanMaster12031.0I'm only giving him a 1 because the concept of Nailz is actually not a bad idea, just got butchered by bad booking. But even then, Kevin Wacholz isn't exactly a Brock Lesnar level big man, he was mediocre at best.

602.08.2023XPaul1242.0Was just not that good in the ring, had 1 decent feud with Big Boss Man, and even then, that wasn't the best. Had a decent size and a fine look. Most of the time, his matches were just horrible though. However, other than that, just overall not that good.
724.07.2023crs2851.0He was not good in the ring. Was not impressed with him on the mic either. His decision-making skills outside the ring ruined his career.

1214.05.2023Giantfan19801.0Atrocious in the ring, stupid prisoner gimmick that had no where to go after the feud with Bossman, and was pretty much a head case outside the ring. Inadvertently helped get Vince McMahon off during the steroid trials because he couldn't resist blabbing in court about how much he hated Vince McMahon so he wasn't a credible witness. Dude only knew how to use lousy choke holds and soccer kicking opponents on the ground.

1431.01.2023damiendemento1 Got scared of him when he attacked the big boss man. And he was a convincing mad man in the ring as Nailz. Kevin Kelly was just a pretty boy.
1504.12.2022face painted legend6.0Silent natured, very intense, had a Jesse Ventura like physique in the earlier years of his career, and always walked with a purpose (he had that stomp in his step all the time). Later on when he incorporated the wild eyes, the scruffy beard, the seething / spitting on himself, and the parted wet hair I honestly thought he had struck gold as he looked legitimately scary, and the fans especially the kids were afraid of him for real. Was very intense as a promo as well, he spoke with a lot of conviction in every promo, and because of that along with how he looked it made it very believable. Very limited as far as what he could do in the ring, but I don't think that mattered because every company he was in, especially the WWF/E, played to his strengths, and hid his weaknesses . He was also a legitimate tough guy/bad ass outside of the ring as well, a former minnesota tough man champion, that's how Brad Rheingans saw him / met him, and that's what got him in the business to begin with (along with the fact that he went to a neighboring school of that Robbinsdale, Minnesota crew of guys who all knew each other) because he was a tough guy who came along in an era where you had to be somewhat tough to survive. What brings down my rating is he was pretty much a 1 territory wonder his whole career and that was his AWA run. He never really lasted anywhere else long enough to have a rating any higher.
1606.10.2022RavenCrow755.0For the most part I will be basing my Wrestler ratings on five criteria four of which are based on in-ring ability and the last on charisma. I believe these five criteria are pro wrestling's version of Tommy Lasorda's criteria of "five points" in baseball. For pro wrestling those five criteria are power, speed, technical ability, hardcore & charisma. Kevin Kelly's scores: Power: 7 Speed: 3 Technical: 3 Hardcore: 7 Charisma: 3 for a total of 23 and an average of 4.6 rounded up to 5.

2022.07.2022Leth990.0I feel sorry for him because he had a great look as Kevin Kelly, but once he ad the Nailz gimmick he couldn't do anything except the choke hold and the sleeper. I mean, it takes a lot to look worse than Virgil in a match against him.
2118.07.2022sbg20220.0One of the absolute worst of the worst in the ring. I would say that he's the drizzling shits, but the drizzling shits would be an improvement. When you're in a match with El Gigante and El Gigante is the best worker in the ring, that's fucking terrible.

2602.11.2021Wrestleking6.0Nailz didn't have good in ring skills. But he played his character very well and gave good promos. He had the size, had the look and wasn't the worst in the ring. He also had stints in AWA as Magnificent Kevin Kelly.

3216.12.2020Mr Nice Guy4.0Nailz is a wrestler who is not easy to rate, He was never good in the ring and when he became older and heavier, He became even worse. However he had good mic skills and was better in the ring then other men his size such as Eddy Steinblock or Brakus. He played his characters well but he didnt have the in ring skills to back himself up. He did indirectly save wrestling as we know it, so I will give him higher points for that. He probably deserves more credit than he gets, although I'd stop short of saying he was actually good.

3904.03.2020OyunDelta4.0His ring abilities were not good. As a matter of fact, he could only brawl because of his gimmick. It would be strange if he wrestled wonderfully and technically. Because badass prisoner should be serious, rough, tough and solid. He played his gimmick well but he was boring in the ring. By the way, his promos are watchable. His appearance, voice tone and speech is suit to prisoner gimmick.

4306.07.2019DanTalksRasslin2.0Nailz had good size and the right look for the convict character he's most associated with, and despite the voice modulator the WWF made him talk through, was an OK promo. He was kind of a stiff in the ring, though, with most of his offense being based around chokeholds. I guess that's a bit appropriate, since he's most notorious for allegedly choking Vince McMahon during a backstage dispute, leading to his firing from the WWF. He subsequently had a one-match run with WCW against Sting at Slamboree '93, a tag run with Ron Simmons in NJPW's Super Grade Tag League in '94, and a short run with AWF in '96 (as well as a random WCW dark match in '98), but otherwise appeared sporadically for different indies without making much impact.
4403.12.2018JEK 19910.0Terrible wrestler. Could even wrestle a match. Don't remember anything about this guy but his WWF tenure as Nailz.

4604.11.2018Cameron6211290.0He couldn't wrestler.... Think about this, in NJPW they once presented Nails vs Giant Gonzalez... Uhhh
4712.10.2018RatingsMachine0.0A sub-par level worker, Kevin Wacholz might have made himself a hero to some by physically assaulting Vince McMahon, but making false claims of sexual assault is a scumbag move and scumbags get a 0.

5208.09.2016thebigmontbowski Kevin Kelly had the right formula in the AWA, but it was a bit too Superstar Graham for the WWE which at the time leaned heavily on corny gimmicks. He was not a great wrestler, but was in a good character for himself as Nailz. He looked crazy, he acted crazy and in the very end in getting fired, was legitimately crazy. It could have been a good mix. He was scary coming up the aisle with the nightstick, spitting all over himself. He legit looked ready to go to war. Had he owned a better moveset, and maybe a little more patience working with VKM, you just never know where Nailz could have gone.

5617.04.2016Boris The Menace2.0
5719.11.2015Squared Circle5.0OK, there's no need to go into Nailz. The gimmick didn't work. The in ring mat work was pedestrian. Nailz was simply a brick. However, Kevin Kelley "Mr. Magnificient" with Sheri Martel was gold for the old AWA. He was superior on the mic cutting promos, arrogantly telling the announcer to "Why don't you go take a few laps around my back, little man", before hitting a back pose. With Sheri at ringside, there was a real presence to his performance. Mr. Magnificient, was at least and 8 and with a little more longevity and the right push, could have been a really big deal. Overall though, his career went from near miss, to miss, to complete miss. Too bad. He should have been better.

6530.04.2013TAWPTierJustin2.0The character of Nailz was without a doubt a great concept for a character, however Nailz unfortunately wasn't talented enough in-ring wise to make his character work to perfection. He definitely had an unbelievably great look to him and not a lot of people who watched Nailz in WWF know that he actually had the gift of gab on his promos and if Vince McMahon didn't make the ultimate decision to alter his voice in his promos, the fans would've heard his real voice and they would've seen how talented he is on the mic firsthand. I guess Vince figured that because of his strong lack of good in-ring skills, he decided to make Nailz look like a complete joke on the biggest stage in wrestling known as WWF at the time where everybody obviously goes and watches the most professional wrestling. So because that happened to him during his time in WWF, Nailz has all the sympathy in the world from me. I just really wish he didn't have very limited in-ring wrestling skills because otherwise I think he would have had a better wrestling career, more people would've taken a liking to him, they would've taken him more seriously, and maybe that character would've made great money.
7421.04.2009Leonbaerry0.0
7504.01.2009Fountain of Misinformation4.0Als Nailz großartig, niemals gab es wohl einen besseren "Psycho" im Ring als ihn, unglaubliche Ausstrahlung.

7827.06.2008The Sick Lebowski1.0Ganz schlimm! Gaaaaanz schlimm!
8019.05.2008Berch4.0Als Wrestler sicherlich extrem mies.
