He's a negative impact on the entire industry and a total scumbag. As a wrestler, meanwhile, I'm mainly going off some short midcard appearances in ROH, where he showed a clear ceiling. Anonymous look, and short even for an ROH guy; forgettable "cocky ladiesman gimmick" which only looks worse with hindsight; forgettable but decent in-ring work. He was a totally replaceable dime-a-dozen hot shot heel, and had nothing even remotely to elevate his status as a wrestler beyond his very real crimes. Disgusting as it might feel to say, at least Benoit could work."
