[8.0] "Always the better half of The Moondogs. I liked what he did in the ring (great looking shoulder breaker, excellent mule kick) and really wish I could see more, as every time I see his stuff I tend to bump the rating up. He hit a decent stride as enhancement talent after The Moondogs were split, seemed fitting. He also shed some weight during this timeframe and I feel it was his in ring peak - I would have kept him employed longer and used him as enhancement talent, maybe the gimmick is what held him back. Even so, I found his whole "scratchin n shakin out the vermin" bit good silly fun. While it's kinda sad that he passed away in the ring, he died doing what he loved. Unfortunately mostly forgotten talent that had good competitive easy to watch matches with almost anyone! One of the most underrated wrestlers ever. And I confess: At times he resembled an uncle of mine, so sometimes I'm kinda cheering for Uncle Bill to come out on top out there."

[5.0] "Memorable in Tennessee. A pioneer of the Moondog gimmick and kept it going. Lonnie Mayne was the very first. One of the best gimmicks in wrestling. Wild and crazy in the ring carrying a giant bone. He won many tag team titles during his career. His fighting style was bland. The focus was not much of a singles career. In WWF he was a decent jobber. Sad that he died in the ring."
