[3.0] "Ludvig Borga brought something different to the WWF of 1993, with an MMA-crossover persona and ring style that was perhaps a little too ahead of its time to really get over, but perhaps anticipated the likes of Brock Lesnar by almost a decade. His time in the US (primarily with the WWF, though his run there was bookended by short runs in the Abrams UWF) didn't result in much in the way of title success, though he had previously claimed the IWGP Tag Titles in Japan with Scott Norton, and subsequently claimed the CWA World Title in Europe. After wrestling, Halme - a rather unpleasant individual by most accounts - did have an oddly varied career, ranging from movie roles and recording an album to writing several books and serving a term in Finnish Parliament. He also evidently had various personal issues, which led to him taking his own life in 2010."
[3.0] "Tony was a fairly limited wrestler in Japan. In WWF, he was completely zero, but at least they tried to make an impressive character out of him, who even had a winning streak and then he became a Viking, it was terrible and he had already completely turned into a laughing stock. His career was not very long and Ludwig did not have time to be particularly remembered for something and I remember him only as not a very good wrestler and the person with the most unmemorable and boring streak."
[0.0] "Probably the worst wrestler that Brad Rheingans ever trained, if Brad could not turn this guy into a passable wrestler that shows how truely awful this dude was. Just a big lump of muscle who was only able to muster the most very basic. No charisma to speak of, couldnt cut promos and never really had the presense of a big tough monster heel. The only reason people remember this dude is because of wrestlecrap and his terrrible run as Ludvig Borga in the WWF. Very boring terrible wrestler."

His offense wasn't necessarly realistic but it was entertaining and most importantly different from anybody else. He brought something to the table and due to his selfless selling I can't give him a lower rating than 7. I'm sorry but workers like him are needed in modern days. His look attracted the viewers and He got the native wrestlers over. If Selfish workers like Minoru Suzuki and Kawada are getting ratings of 10, Halme have the right to get a 7. Period."
[3.0] "Much has been made of his time in wwf and njpw, his RINGS work was also heinous. He could throw half decent looking strikes but as for submissions, story telling and personality, and shoot capability he gets a low ranking from me"
[5.0] "Hatte seinen wrestlerischen Karrierehöhepunkt im Main-Event der Survivor-Series 1993 als Bestandteil der 'Foreign Fanatics', als er als letzter Teilnehmer von Lex Luger eliminiert wurde. Zu einer Fortsetzung der Fehde kam es dann nicht mehr, da Borga sich zum Jahreswechsel übel verletzte und dann nicht mehr zurückkam. Insgesamt ein beeindruckendes Auftreten mit natürlich limiterten Powermoves. Zu seinem Gimmick, welches bei den Amerikanern mal wieder das 'Alles-ausser-uns-ist-scheisse-Bedürnis' befriedigte, bleibt zu sagen, dass zeitgleich in der WWF Yokozuna (aus historischen Gründen) als Pseudo-Japaner wesentlich mehr Heat zog. Woher soll der Durchschnitts-US-Bürger auch wissen, wo Finnland liegt ... privat dann aber wohl eiher ein zweifelhafter Charakter mit reichlich Problemen."
[1.0] "Before "Inokism" NJPW desperately tried to replicate the success of AJPW with big foreign workers by pushing folks like Tony Halme. Of course there's a tiny issue: AJPW foreigners were great in-ring workers, they were charismatic and Baba knew how to handle them. By contrast Tony Halme had the same wrestling skills as a slab of stone, somehow even less charisma and NJPW pushed him way too hard merely on account of the fact that, well, he was big and strong. After his NJPW stint fizzled, WWE came a-knocking, no doubt attracted by Halme's physique. And here the wheels fell off the wagon: the "Ludvig Borga" character made absolutely zero sense. An evil Finn environmentalist? It could have been funny had the character been played by somebody with a knack for comedy and entertainment, but Tony Halme possessed neither and was apparently quite a handful to handle backstage to boot. No wonder he was shown the door rather quickly and ended up dabbling in politics. Absolutely memorable for all the wrong reasons."
[3.0] "NJPW tried everything to get him over & get him better but you know the fans over there are mostly in to in ring work which he lacked so it didn't work well for him there & when you look at his run with WWE it was completely pointless but I thought he's charismatic."
[4.0] "Mochte den Viking nie konnte mit so einer Figur im Wrestling echt nix anfangen hat mich immer generft und im Ring war er auch nicht besonders kann nicht verstehen wie einer wie der 7 oder 8 Punkte geben kann und verdammt wer hat dem 10 Punkte gegeben also ich kann ihm echt nicht mehr als 4 Punkte verpassen. Der hat mich einfach nicht unterhalten aber fand es gut wenn er verprügelt wurde."
[6.0] "War ein ordentlicher Brawler der den bösen Ausländer gut verkörperte. Wurde jedoch zu schnell zu hoch gepusht unter anderem durfte er Tatanka's Siegesserie beenden und wurde direkt an die Seite des WWF World Champions Yokozuna gestellt um gegen Lex Luger zu fehden. Er hatte einen großartigen Look jedoch limitierte In Ring Fähigkeiten und ein durchschnittliches Mic Work."
[5.0] "He was good as an MMA fighter and boxer but not as a wrestler. He is memorable in Germany for CWA, Japan and WWF in a short 8 year career. His biggest peak people would argue WWF or CWA. I say WWF because that was his only time in America. The feud he had with Lex Luger was excellent and very patriotic. He was great at playing as a heel character. Wrestling skills were terrible and sloppy. It was boring."
[0.0] "Tony Halme was absolutely terrible. He got a push in New Japan because of his look. but it didn't last too long because Halme's work was of such a low standard that the fans rejected his push. His WWE run was a major flop. The one-dimensional gimmick didn't help, but his interviews were abysmal. And if you go back and watch his squash matches, you'll see that they were all laid out in exactly the same way. He was so bad that he couldn't even change up his squash match, to even the smallest degree."

[6.0] "Despite being taught the art of wrestling by Verne Gagne, Tony Haalme's career in the US was shortlived. He had everything it took to succeed in the WWE: great gimmick, mic skills, awe-inspiring physique, intimidating look, and, above all, legitimate skill when it came to the actual WRESTLING portion of the program (Gagne was truly one of the all time greatest teachers. ) But an injury (combined with what Jim Ross stated in his blog as an "obnoxious" attitude) caused his WWE days to end before they truly began. Aside from an appearance in UFC where he got his ass handed to him by a young Randy Couture, Haalme went back to his home country and, like Jesse Ventura, became a politician. And like Ventura, he was a consistent bringer of controversy and infamy. Tragically, Ludvig killed himself in 2010. I like to think that, even though his time in the national spotlight was short, he made a lasting impression, because no other "evil foreigner" character of the cartoony WWF days was able to communicate with the audience like he did. Nor did they have his look or physique. We probably won't see another one like him. RIP."

[7.0] "Ich war ein Fan von Borga. Ich denke man könnte ihn als vorreiter eines Mohammed Hassan sehen. Ein Heel, der Amerika mit der Wahrheit kritisiert und dafür zum ultimativem Heel wird. Seine Vignetten und Promos hatten Klasse. Im Ring war er dann doch nur das typische Powerhouse ohne irgendwelche Auswüchse ins Besondere. Leider war sein WWF-Run verletzungsbedingt kurz. R. I. [8.0] "Even though he spent more time trying to be a heel and make people hate him in his matches than showing too much of his wrestling ability, Ludvig Borga obviously had some great skills in the ring! Not only that, but he had a great look as well and he had some pretty good to decent mic skills I would say. If he didn't unfortunately injure his ankle after a good couple of months with WWF, and if he didn't have his issues he had in his life, and if he didn't have the bad attitude that he had sometimes backstage because of those problems he had, then I think he would have been in the Royal Rumble match in 1994 and he probably would have had his rumored match with Earthquake at Wrestlemania X and I think he would have had great WWF career had things not turned out the way they did for him. It's very unfortunate to see that happen not only to a wrestler in general, but especially a wrestler with a lot of potential. It's such a shame that we'll never see what could've been a great future for Ludvig Borga in the days of his wrestling career and I really wish things would've worked out better for him so that he would've been a much happier person. RIP Ludvig Borga (1963-2010)"
[7.0] "In seinem WWF-Run fand ich ihn beeindruckend. Kam prima als Monster rüber. Dachte man was is der groß und muskulös und das Boxergimmick zieht gut. War leider ziemlich schnell weg. Dann sah ich ihn bei Die Hard 3 und da war er auch nicht größer als der Rest. Aber im Herbst 93 hat er mich beeindruckt."

[2.0] "Aus heutiger Sicht ist es rätselhaft, aber bei seinem kurzen WWF Run war ich als kleiner Junge ein riesen Fan. Über die Jahre wurde dann aber doch deutlich das Borga trotz der einwandfreien Inszenierung seitens der Offiziellen recht wenig als Wrestler zu bieten hatte. Harte Clothlines, fies glotzen-das ist auf Dauer zu wenig."
[4.0] "Hab ihn zu Markzeiten eigentlich ganz gerne gesehen. War damals ziemlich beeindruckt als er Tatankas Serie beenden durfte. Im Nachhinein ist er objektiv betrachtet aber allenfalls durchschnittlich. Außerhalb des Rings mit Einstellungen die man kaum befürworten kann, aber das soll hier nicht in die Wertung einfließen. Am Ende hat er sich selbst zerstört."

Wahrscheinlich hat er mich optisch so sehr begeistert oder auch durch seine (zumindest offizielle) Siegesserie, aber rückwirkend betrachtet hat er eigentlich absolut nichts geleistet. Viele Squash-Matches und wie ich dank der Datenbank nun sehe auch unterbrochen durch diverse House Show-Niederlagen gegen Luger ... von wegen unbesiegbar. ^^ Seine rechte Einstellung revidiert den Sympathie-Bonus von damals auch sehr stark, so dass noch 4 Punkte übrig bleiben. Hätte ihn damals gerne länger in der WWF gesehen."
[7.0] "Wirklich guter Heel und für seine Größe und sein Gewicht, auch kein so schlechter Wrestler. Hab nach seiner Wrestling Zeit mal einen Boxkampf von ihm gesehen.... Er war ganz sicher der schlechteste Boxer aller Zeiten!"
[8.0] "Einer der so ein richtiger Bösewicht war! Die Ausstrahlung, die fiesen Boxschläge..... es hat voll zu ihm gepasst. Das Match mit Tatanka war einmalig, als er ziehmlich klar und deutlich Tatankas Siegesserie beendete und ihm den Platz beim PPV kostete."
[5.0] "Kam mir nach seinem Sieg gegen Tatanka fast unbesiegbar vor, aber wie so oft: Im Rückblick nichts besonderes mehr, von seiner 'Umweltliebe' einmal abgesehen."
[2.0] "Wenn man sich vor Augen hält, dass diese Niete mal den WWE-Title gewinnen sollte, um diesen an Lex Luger weiterzugeben - zu einem Zeitpunkt in dem Bret Hart in den ME gepusht wurde, dann sträuben sich meine Nackenhaare. Der Typ hatte ein mieses Gimmick, einen miesen Dialekt und war sicher kein Shootfighter als welcher er dargestellt werden sollte. Auch wenn es böse klingt, ich bin froh, dass er sich damals verletzte, sonst hätte die WWE die Story wohl durchgezogen und wir wären so nicht in den Genuss eines Bret Hart als mehrfacher Champion geworden"
[8.0] "zu seinem WWF-Run gefiel er mir sehr, verkörperte den Heel, wie man ihn sich vorstellte - viel Kraft, gutes Powerhouse... setzte ansonsten mitunter leider zu viel auf das Boxen, war in Japan blass - aber zu WWF-Zeiten fand ich den stark (und er besiegte als erster Tatanka - mit dem kleinen Finger ! )... ok setzt ihn von 3 noch auf ne 2 hoch !"
[8.0] "Da stimme ich zu. Der hatte echtes Heel- Potenzial. Kann mich noch erinnern, wie wir in der Schule gewettet haben, ob er in einem Kampf gegen Tatanka gewinnen würde... und das hat er tatsächlich getan. Danach ist er aber leider in der Versenkung verschwunden."
[8.0] "Ich glaube, dass man aus ihm durchaus einen Main Eventer hätte machen können. Heute hätte er da bessere Chancen. Wie bei so vielen Wrestlern ist auch seine Wirkung ausserhalb des Wrestling-Rings nicht unumstritten, aber als Wrestler war er sicherlich nicht schlecht."
[2.0] "Der Mann war ein Pionier: Ein Jahrzehnt vor Al Gore redete er den USA wegen ihrer notorischen Umweltverschmutzung ins Gewissen. Naja, es brauchte aber irgendwie nicht noch jemanden außer Yokozuna, der Amerika doof fand."
