Had a pretty good showing at Royal Rumble '89 (I guess switching numbers paid off for Butch! ). I saw how he would take the lead if things were going a bit awry so there's some credit. I was never a fan overall because A) I am not into blood bath brawlers and B) Bushwhackers. Butch though, if you took the gimmick away or tweaked it to something less moronic, *he* is the one that would have had a good career all on his own."
[4.0] "I think Butch might have been a little bit better than Luke. Missed out on the Sheepherder days and by the time he got to the WWF he was the goofy comedy brawler. By 1991 the Whackers were pretty much just jobbers but they were still over with the fans no matter how goofy they were booked and they made good money for easy work, so who am I to knock them?"

Die Bushwhackers waren damals sehr erstaunt als sie erfahren haben das sie in der WWF ein Comedy Tag Team Match sein sollen waren doch zuvor gefürchtet Brawler. Edit 03.04.2023 leider eine traurige Nachricht durch seinen Cousin Luke auf Twitter erfahren, Butch ist heute in einem Krankenhaus gestorben."
[8.0] "Similar to Luke, he was an innovator of the hardcore wrestling style that you see now. Had great in ring pyschology as both a heel and a babyface. Was 1/2 of one of the most beloved and also one time most hated tag teams of all time in the Kiwi Sheepherders turned Bushwhackers. Didn't have the longevity Luke had due to his injuries piling up in the early 2000's which forced him to move back home to new zeland because of it, but you would never know it because he's asked about so much haha. It's like no time has passed lol. Also he gets an extra nod from me for being the mastermind behind the bushwhacker gimmick. Vince came up with it, but by his and luke's own accord it was Butch who came up with a lot of things that gave the group the uniqueness and staying power it had -- the licking of the faces, the bushwhacker march, the swinging of the arms."
[2.0] "Reading the comments I learned that they had an hardcore style background. Probably the reason why they tried to go on ECW in the late '90s, but people only knew their time in the WWF so they failed at the start. Sadly, that's also the reason why I remember them"
[4.0] "When Luke and Butch performed as Kiwis, they were pretty tough guys whose matches were brutal brawls in which they fought with crowd favorites and it was good. But then there was a moving to the major leagues and already in the nineties the team tried on a more comedic style and gave out one disgusting match after another. Butch, of course, made his contribution to history, but still the last ten years have spoiled the impression of the team and they are perceived more like strange comedy wrestlers and not everyone even knows that they were not always like that."
[5.0] "Nothing really special expect being with Luke. Great as a tag team specialist. Moves were not that great but not terrible. I want to be fair. he was never really given a shot at a singles career."
[7.0] "Along with Luke, he was part of the one of the most memorable 80s/90s tag teams for me. Entertaining as both a member of the Sheepherders and the Bushwhackers."
[5.0] "Wie bei Luke auch schon geschrieben, fand ich sie als Kind urkomisch. Butch ist für mich der bessere Wrestler gewesen. Ich frage mich allerdings schon seit Jahren, ob den beiden ihr Gimmick gefallen hat."

[8.0] "Before the WWF he was half of one of the most hardcore tag teams of their time; unfortunately, the gimmick they were given by the WWF (that they interpreted in a great way) limited them on the ring and left a very strong mark, so that most people will only identify Butch and Luke with the goofy Bushwackers."
[3.0] "The Bushwhackers were just awful. We won't even get into mic skills. Charismatic, But wore thin very quickly. And in-ring skills? Non-existent. They were basically a comedy act."
[2.0] "I won't argue that the Bushwhackers were a memorable tag-team of their time, but I can't help but cringe every time I decide to watch some old school wrestling and they pop up. I can usually get behind most harmless comedy gimmicks, but this one is an exception."
[6.0] "Schwierig sie alleine zu bewerten deshalb bewerte ich sie beide zusammen wie schon im Tag Team Bereich. In den Anfangsjahren meiner Wrestling Fan Laufbahn, haben sie mir in der NWA anno 1985 ganz gut gefallen, waren ordentliche Brawler. Was die WWF allerdings aus ihnen machte war eigentlich eine Frechheit, waren sie in der NWA doch ein sehr starkes und vorallem brutales Team in dem deren Matches meistens mit viel Blut endete, wurden sie in der WWF zu Comedy Charaktere und steckten jedem Fan und vorallem jedem Jobber die Zunge in den Hals. Für die Bushwackers würde es ein "Nicht Genügend" geben, doch da die Sheepherds meine Jugend mitprägten, gibt es ein "durchschnittlich"."
[1.0] "Was ich von den beiden Clowns kenne ist grausamer trash, sie sollen aber angeblich mal ein hartes team gewesen sein. Ich werde es einfach glauben, sonst bleiben hier keine Punkte mehr übrig. Einer schlimmer als der Andere für mich, deshalb gleiche Punktzahl."
[3.0] "Das Gimmick der beiden Brüder war schon ziemlich daneben. Als Single-Wrestler hätte sich nie jemand etablieren können. Doch zur kurzen Unterhaltung waren sie allemal ganz nett. Außerdem hatten sie Mitte der 80er recht ansehliche Matches"
[6.0] "Also es ist an den Kommentaren klar zu sehen, wer Wrestling nur durch die WWF/WWE kennt und wer sich wirklich für Wrestling interessiert. Dieses Fun Baby Face Gim hatten die beiden weitestgehend nur in der WWF. In anderen Ligen waren die ziemlich brutal =) Ich fand sie lustig und sie gehören dazu wie die Warriors oder Quebecers..."
[0.0] "ich konnte den Hype um die Bushwhackers nie verstehen. Die waren eine Mischung aus Bastion Booger und Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Bastion Booger fand ich ja witzig und kultig, aber da zählt halt auch ganz oder gar nicht, und bei den Buschwhackers dann gar nicht."
[8.0] "Absolut kontrovers, wie sich auch an den Bewertungen wiederspiegelt! Ich gehörte zu den Liebhabern der Bushwackers und Butch idt genau so toll wie Luke :)"
[2.0] "Ich kenne die Bushwhackers nur aus ihrer WWF Zeit und kann daher nur diese bewerten. Aber in der WWF fand ich sie grausam. Ihr Gimmick und ihr Stil waren einfach nur blödsinnig und überflüssig. Da sie sich aber dennoch einer großer Beliebtheit erfreuen und auch ich als junger Fan über die lachen musste, gibt es noch 2 Punkte."
[6.0] "In der WWF waren die Bushwhackers nur zum jobben, aber vor allem zur Unterhaltung gut genug, was sie sehr beliebt gemacht hat. In anderen Ligen sah das da schon wieder anders aus."
