"Back in 2017-18, I was trying to branch out and away from watching the WWE, I had watched almost every Raw and Smackdown, and at the time TNA (impact) was not in the greatest shape. I ended up finding Lucha Underground, for free on Tubi TV, and I remember searching up "top LU matches", THIS WAS AT THE TOP. I didn't know who either wrestler was and didn't really know much of their story, I just skipped ahead and watched these two beat the shit out of each other. It was insane and my younger self could not believe what I was watching. I still remember the bottle to the head and the big bump that was taken to the floor. INSANITY at its finest."

[10.0] "[5.0*] What an incredible match, this is probably the best match in the history of Lucha Underground, Fox and Killshot were spectacular in this match, from start to finish, they used the spots incredibly and the pacing was great. The first fall had Fox dominating, taking the match outside the ring and doing the main spots, in the second fall the intensity decreases and we have more action in the ring, this is when Killshot has control and manages to tie the match, the third fall begins with both exhausted and Fox's back bleeding a lot, the last fall was extremely exciting and brutal, the turnaround at the end and the exchanges between them were sensational, Killshot throwing Fox into the glass and getting the victory was INSANE, after the match ended I All I could think about was how this was one of the most insane matches I've ever seen and perhaps the one with the best spots, a historic match that boosted Swerve Strickland's career."

[10.0] "Honestly just speechless. This is a match I've been wanting to check out for a long time, and it is fucking insanity. First of all, why the fuck wasn't I watching Lucha Underground when it was a thing. Like the production here is so sick and the way the environment looks and how the wrestlers interact with it is so cool. Also the storylines seemed to be absolutely fucking nuts. They showed a video package that explained why the match was happening, and apparently it's because Fox and Kills hot were both in the same military unit or whatever, and one time Fox got captured and tortured by the opposing side and now accuses Killshot of abandoning him and leaving him for dead, so now vows to ruin his life. WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING? ! ? ! But onto the match itself. I could just list spots, but I don't think that does justice to how fucking insane and brutal the things that both Fox and Killshot put themselves through were. I mean Fox has a literal piece of his flesh torn from his back during the course of his match, and it's about as disgusting as it sounds. I don't think I can compare this match to anything else. Sure, it's a deathmatch, but it's so unique in it's presentation and the spots are so out of this world that I don't think there is anything in the history of pro wrestling like it. This is a match that I don't think can ever be replicated, and is something that could've only ever have taken place in the insane world of Lucha Underground. *****"

Killshot aka Swerve Strickland knows how to fight in this type of matches (CZW) but men this match represents how unique was Lucha Underground. A match with a lot of violence, amazing spots(i can count 5 OMG moments) and with a very good storyline in the middle. Is not for everyone because is a rare style, a deathmatch but different. These 2 deserves all the credit for all the spots. Thank you Killshot and Dante Fox, amazing wrestlers. *****"

[9.0] "An absolutely brutal match that could only take place in Lucha Underground. The future Swerve Strickland and AR Fox threw caution to the wind with every crazy move they pulled. The first fall (First Blood Match) featured a brutal bump taken by Killshot through a sheet of glass causing blood to seep from his back. That visual looked crazy enough but it was followed up with Fox eating a powerbomb through a board covered in barbed wire causing his back to pour blood... disgusting (in the best way). From there the bumps only get crazier and the backs only get bloodier ending with a tremendous closing spot with Fox ready to deliver the final blow to his former brother before Killshot smashed him with a beer bottle and caused him to fall through two sheets of glass and down to the floor. An amazing display of violence that only receives aa 9/10 because it felt like storytelling was done away with during the middle 15 minute stretch, and because of my own personal dislike of Matt Striker and Vampiro's commentary."

[10.0] "If there is one wrestling promotion I regret not watching enough of, it would be Lucha Underground, which decided to take wrestling and make it into something like a TV drama show, with wrestlers coming back from the dead, love triangles, and much more silliness packed in there. Even though the promotion only lasted 5 years, it still managed to produce some amazing matches, with this being arguably their best match and the most brutal. The story is that Killshot and Dante were military soldiers and partners, but on one fateful night, Dante was captured and tortured for information, and ever since that day, Fox accused Killshot of leaving him for dead and decided he was going to make Killshot's life a living nightmare. And in this Hell of War ( which is three stipulations in one match, First Blood, No DQ, and Medical Evac, and whoever wins two out of three wins), they went to hell. This match is brutal and unsettling. They get tossed through glass window panes, resulting in bloody backs, Fox gets powerbombed into a table covered in barbed wire, Fox has a piece of his flesh left on a gurney, and the final minutes are just a soap opera, with Dante preparing to deliver the final blow as he's choking out Killshot with a microphone cord, before Killshot hits a beer bottle on Dante's head, resulting in Fox falling through two glass window panes. Everyone is shocked at this match, even the referee Rick Knox. A wonderful display of artistic violence."

One of (if not the) most visceral matches I've seen to date. Full marks for respect for the backs and the insane bumps these two took in this match (especially Fox) (*****)"

Watching it and how sick actions were taken by both wrestlers, I was afraid of what would end this clash, and what happened at the end surpassed all my guesses. One of those fights that cannot be compared to others because of its originality and, most strikingly - violence."

[10.0] "Completely crazy match. This is packed with action and violence. The final spot is particularly memorable and insane. Some may say that some of the more acrobatic high spots undermine the brutality, and in some instances I would agree, but in the comic book world of Lucha Underground I think all of these things fit the environment and the atmosphere. There is also a 'fighting spirit' moment that I would often roll my eyes at elsewhere, but in a match this legitimately brutal I think it feels earned instead of rote. If I saw this match anywhere else I'm not sure if I'd rate it as highly, but Lucha Underground feels like it has different rules than wrestling elsewhere, and for what that promotion sets out to be this is stellar."

[10.0] "Since Swerve Strickland vs. AR Fox will be taking place tonight on AEW Dynamite and they're both wrestlers that I really like, I finally decided to watch this famous match that has been recommended so much in the last few years and that has been so talked about, you've probably already seen spots of it without even being aware of it or having never watched it so much there are some shocking and absolutely amazing things in all of this. While I'm a nostalgic fan of Lucha Underground and these are two performers that I love, I must admit that I had shamefully never taken the time to watch this match so it was part of my 2023 resolutions as well as my way of hyping my mind even more about their match tonight (which of course will be anything but something like this), how can I say that I'm ashamed that I didn't watch it sooner. It's basically a Three Stages of Hell that Lucha Underground calls a 'Hell of War' with a First Blood, a No DQ and a Medical Evac match... and it's probably the craziest match I've ever seen in my life and yet I've seen a bunch of them. Probably one of the most violent and brutal matches in the history of this country, you can watch this without even knowing anything about their history that you will be filled with happiness after watching this. A lot of unbelievable spots, rhythmic action for twenty-five minutes, a perfect comeback story for Killshot and a lot of things that will leave you speechless... if like me you never watched this match before and you want to do it, I just want you to watch it as soon as possible."

From the DISGUSTING Visual of Dante Fox's back, to the insane spots, to perfect soap-opera-esque ending. It's genuinely great. Not to mention the entire match makes SENSE being this intense (no sell spot included) given the perfectly overly dramatic story leading up into this. A very well deserved ***** match!"

Not my personal cup of tea, but for the type of match this was, I will say it's hard for me to imagine it being done any better. That zoom-in on the piece of Dante's skin lying on the gurney was just disgusting. Though it's not just brutal hardcore spots, Dante and Killshot also take opportunities to show off their incredible lucha skills in between the glass and barbwire."

I literally watched Moxley vs Omega's deathmatch, not even a few hours before watching this match and this match made the Omega vs Moxley deathmatch look tame in comparison to this all-out war. This is literally the first lucha underground match I've ever watched and have very little experience with lucha underground in general but I understood the stakes and hatred between these two perfectly as the first fall tricks you into thinking it'll be one of the more weaker deathmatches in terms on violence before blasting you with some insane shit during the 2nd and especially 3rd fall. This match is the perfect blend of insane spots, brutal violence, and feats of lucha athleticism in display here. Some of these spots live in my head rent free now like the piece of flesh on the stretcher or that final spot of fox falling through the glass panel, my god what an ending that was.... Please do yourself a favor and watch this match even if you're not a fan of death matches because it will blow you away and live in your head rent free and is definitely one of the most underrated matches of all time"

[10.0] "Other than Atsushi Onita vs. Terry Funk I'm hard pressed to come up with a death match as legendary as this one. All that was really missing was the explosions! Otherwise it had everything you could ask for; a great story leading in, tremendous pacing, all the blood and guts you could want and absolutely incredible athleticism from Killshot and Fox. Fox in particular is out of this world great in this match (and had been all season); the fact that he remains a free agent these days is one of the most mystifying things in wrestling, even if you think some things from his past are controversial (they aren't). At least he can always say he had arguably the best death match in the history of a televised wrestling program and maybe even Lucha Underground. Aside from Grave Consequences, Angelico's famous leap and the Vampiro-Pentagon street fight, nothing else in the history of the promotion comes close to this."

Both guys managed to give the spectators an awesome combination of spots, hardcore wrestling and athletics/technique and the order of the stipulations really worked. After the second fall the match went slower than I expected but it was understandable due to the damage received, it was just the silent of the crowd that hardly imagined something more to come after all the previous massacre, maybe it was too much for them, us, who know... But at the end it was still a memorable and emotive outcome ****1/4."
