[9.0] "Mascara Dorada might be the best highflyer in the CMLL, which means that he also is the best high flyer in the world. Yeah at the age 22 he is already better than Will Ospreay (Which is not really a highflyer but we gonna consider) when it comes to flippy shit stuff, and Mascara it's in the right place to execute flippy shit. Templario, well, he have the power to have a insane chemistry with basically everyone and that's quite insane. Great match, but I think five stars from Meltzer was "too much". He didn't rate Soberano Jr vs Templario five stars to rate this? Nah that don't rock with me."
[8.0] "Very fun match. I don't think it deserved 5 stars, and it felt a little too quick for a 2/3 falls match, but if you need to kill some time you want to watch some good Lucha, I'd throw this one on."
[9.0] "[4.25*] I am still knowing both guys better but these are one of my favorites luchadores until now. This match is a very easy-watch, I could watch this with my girlfriend on a Sunday afternoon eating pop and we would have enjoyed it a lot. This is almost like a movie, there is no rest holds or boring stretches, everything is different, especially the pacing and construction. The 1st and the 2nd Falls were very fast, so the match kind of started to pick things up at the 3rd and last one. There were many spots that I highly liked, the reversals and sequences were top notch and the crowd was on the edge of their seats. The interesting part is that I saw the exact same mistakes Mascara Dorada did on his AEW Dynamite match he was just standing there waiting for Templario a couple of times and even slipped on the ring a little bit, which is completely normal for a 22 year old young man, lol. For these small mistakes and miscommunications I have to give it 4.25*, but I would watch it again for sure. Templario was incredible from start to finish, tho."
[8.0] "Great big CMLL singles main event. The crowd really gets behind Dorada. He's so on point and so creative with his high flying. KeMalito gets involved as well. Dorada's becoming a main guy."
[8.0] "A pretty fun main event. There were definitely some strikes and moves that I think could have been executed better, but it didn't take a whole lot away from this match for me. It could have been a 9/10, but a strong 8/10 isn't bad either (I'd give this a 4.25/5, or 8.5/10)."
[8.0] "A little below Máscara Dorada's previous year performances. Didn't have the captivating dramatic effect his matches with Rocky Romero had, nor the excellent technical work from his match with Titan for the title. It's not even much better than his first Templario match, and that one had a 10 min. time limit. This was good for sure, as one would expect, but it lacked a little on those elements that made both Dorada and Templario essential players in CMLL. I honestly don't understand why this was the first WON 5* rated match for CMLL. I believe it's a recognition that should've come way earlier as both wrestlers had exceptional matches against different opponents in the past."
[6.0] "I guess Lucha Libre just isn't for me. I don't get the psychology. The strikes seem soft, a few botches, lots of standing around waiting for spots, and overly choreographed. After 4 minutes of wrestling, the babyface taps out after being in a hold for 3 seconds. Are you kidding me? How does that make sense? The babyface than totally no sells his legs for the rest of the match. There were also some blatant interference from the heel's mascot, in front of the referee, and the referee does nothing. Am I missing something here? The 6 points I'm giving are for the athleticism and for the fact that they at least kept the spots to a minimum."
[9.0] "Mascara Dorada continues to bring great technico energy in big main event spots and this makes the final fall climatic here beneath the rudo tactics from Templario."
[6.0] "A typical modern lucha match, with very impressive but undeniably over-choreographed displays of athleticism one after the other, plus just a generally very uncreative structure. Of course, because it's a 2/3 falls match, the first 2 falls came out in underwhelming fashion and felt pretty insignificant. Both guys had a few nice counters, and I appreciated that at least some of them felt far more natural because they usually weren't purely flippy spots that required the guy on the receiving end to simply stand and wait to be hit or to even help his opponent pull off whatever spot they were going for. They started having a bit of sloppier chemistry around the time that the 3rd and decisive fall was up for grabs, with them getting lost a few times and awkwardly trying to recover. It was never anything terrible but did look kinda bad. They thankfully managed to get back track as they went for their bigger high-flying spots, though again, those spots were coming out rather mindlessly just for the sake of it. Points for the athleticism and a few creative spots, but the set-ups and selling weren't the best. ***"
[8.0] "It s a good match.I'm glad to see Mascara Dorada made his first five stars match, but it isn't worth for five stars.I think this mtach should be ****1/2."
[9.0] "Match of the Year Contender for CMLL. Mascara Dorada is quickly becoming my favorite wrestler in Mexico right now, the talent he have is beyond this world. (****1/2)"
[8.0] "Very good arena mexico main event another great showing by Mascara Dorada but surprisingly the crowd was not fully behind him they very much love Templario as well. The first two falls were kinda nothing as usual but they really cooked in the third one with some sick reversals and great suspense, very easy to watch match ---------- And a little correction to the previous comment : this is not the first ever lucha match Meltzer gave 5 stars to, it's the first CMLL match (he gave 5 stars to a bunch of AAA matches)"
[10.0] "The interesting note about this match is that it is the first ever lucha match Meltzer gave 5 stars too. This is a little silly, because there have been better lucha matches that this (in 2024 even! ) but this is a really great match so don't sell it short for a moment. In the past six months the 22 year old Mascara Dorada has rocketed to the top of the lucha libre world, generating great buzz with his considerable in ring skills and popularity with the fans. Templario is a guy who put in long years in relative obscurity but has also become a much bigger deal in the past few years, and is a really capable opponent for Dorada. Together they put on a damn fun lucha match, exciting, high flying, crowd popping big. The athletics of both men were more than impressive but their ability to hook the crowd in, getting them biting on every nearfall, was the best part to me. Great stuff."
[9.0] "Mascara Dorada está en gran momento y apunta a ser la nueva cara del Consejo , y esta lucha demuestra también lo gran luchador que es Templario, ciertamente un luchón. Mascara Dorada is in a great moment and aims to be the new face of CMLL, also this match shows why Templario is a grat wrestler too, truly an awesome match."
[8.0] "The match was generally good. The first fall was quite boring, with not much of significance happening. The second fall was somewhat better, although it still lacked excitement. However, the final fall was sensational, featuring fantastic moves and amazing near falls. Despite the last fall being sensational, I think they could have balanced the match better in the first two falls, making the overall match better."
[8.0] "[4.5*] The match was a lot of fun, Templario and the new Mascara dorada are two of the best Luchadores today. The match had some really insane moves, Templario and Mascara Dorada are incredible doing reverses. Mascara Dorada was much more aggressive in this match at times and his victory in the end was very good. The first two falls were very quick, which was a negative point of the match."
[8.0] "Certainly an entertaining one and a remarkable performance from both luchadores. Mascara Dorada II is quickly becoming one of the best in the mexican scene and Templario is showing the potential that many have been pointing out since 2020. The first two falls were just filler, as usual, but in this case they were pretty decent ones as a whole. The third fall was incredible and turned this match into an early CMLL MOTYC. I know people don't care that much about WON ratings (right? ), but I get the feeling that the 5 STAR rating will be drawing some attention. So, I must say that I wouldn't consider this to be a perfect match, let alone being the best match in CMLL history (actually, it's very far from it). In my opinion, this is a decent 4.25 stars match on my list, enjoyable from bell to bell and a good lucha libre exhibition."
[7.0] "Shockingly terrible first fall by these guys. Ive seen one Dorada II match but Templario usually delivers so this having a rough start was unusual. It was sloppy, there was too much hesitation to do stuff, Dorada kept slipping and the counters were poorly executed so you cant even say how amazing the moves were. Templario wins to thankfully end it. The second fall was much stronger as a match. There were some cool dives on the floor, a few more well executed sequences, etc. Not great but a better short fall to set up the real meat of the match. Dorada evens it up with an awesome spinning slam. The third fall is pretty damn awesome though. It builds really well into a great series of kick outs and false finishes. The crowd really gets hooked in this part of the bout. But they failed to really take off until they were a 3rd of the way there. Shame. Good bout in the end. ***1/2"
[7.0] "It is a good match but damn do I never thought i would describe a match as extremely overrated, but here we are. coming out at the Wrestlekingdom weekend and this match was getting perfect 10s here. with no resources available for a while, it was truly mysterious and that high expectation is not met fully. NOT Mascara Dorada II's best work because he might be one of the best unsung highflyers right now. A missable match by his standard and a decent one by Templario's standard."
[8.0] "Man! Talk about hot action. The third fall had some of the best drama and near falls you'll get in a lucha match. Mascara Dorada is having a phenomenal run, he's clearly pegged as Mexico's next big star. Templario was great. The codebreaker move thing was nuts. Mascara Dorada's shooting star press is the best in the biz and the arena buys it as a finish. Awesome match I'd go 4.25 on."
[9.0] "Damn maybe I need to start watching CMLL because this was pretty incredible. I mean some of the things that these guys do in this match, I don't think I've ever seen anyone do before, and they both just pull off these incredibly innovative and complex moves with ease. The crowd are also amazing for this, especially during the last fall where they popped for practically every nearfall. I don't think it's perfect, but I can safely say that this is one of the most impressive matches I've ever seen, with both Dorada and Templario performing feats of agility that really shouldn't be possible and that you certainly won't see anywhere else. ****1/2"
[9.0] "The way these two use the ropes is out of this world. The emotion surrounding the outcome here was off the charts. First couple of falls were so-so, but that's par for the course. The decider was a full-on rollercoaster ****1/2"
[9.0] "This was really spectacular. Its a 2/3 falls lucha singles so you pretty much know what youre going to get in the first two falls. Theyre quick and leave you left thinking that the whole thing would have worked better if it was just one fall. That said, its easy to let go of. This has a couple of brief little awkward moments, sure. Do some of the spots look overly choreographed? Of course. But it doesnt matter. This is a match between two unbelievable wrestlers going balls-to-the-wall with spectacular dives and breathtaking counters for 20 minutes. Dorada is scary good for how young he is considering that hes able to hang in long-form singles matches. It feels like Templario is a natural opponent for him, being able to catch and power him into and out of intricate sequences that Dorada is able to hold his end of the bargain up with his great body control. Theres a counter spot where Templario flips Dorada out of a Yoshi Tonic but instead of a Mad Scientist Bomb, he flips him all the way through into a front lungblower and it deserves to be rewound and rewatched multiple times. This doesnt have the emotional impact of Doradas all-time classic against Rocky Romero but from a moves-moves-moves standpoint, this is a higher level. If youre looking for an adrenaline-pumping lucha thrill ride, this will do the trick."
[9.0] "the final stretch of this match, everything after the second fall is absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible. All the counters each Dorada and Templario used felt like the best thing to do in the moment and showed just how much they know eachother. Only reason im not givin it a 10 is the first two falls are just Good, not Great like the third fall was"
[9.0] "I have to admit I thought this match was going to be a little bit better. Far from an average match but it's weird that a lot of Lucha match after they get their maximum average almost always fall down very fast. I liked the first two quick falls, they were better than other ones I saw here in CMLL. Then, the "big" third fall delivered for the most but some of the bumps on the knees weren't done perfectly and I also felt they could have gone 5 minutes longer. That being said, great match. ****1/2"
[9.0] "I thought this was fantastic although I don't seem to be as high on it as other commenters. The first two falls were fairly standard but they really heated up for the last fall."
[10.0] "great main event from these two with lots of high spots as expected. they continue to give mascara dorada the push he deserves, hes gonna be something special"
[10.0] "It's still the first week of January, but this one will surely go down as one of the best Arena Mexico main events of the year. So much high flying, so many incredible spots, and so much precision and athleticism. The only issue I had was the interference by KeMalito, which was completely ignored by the ref. I wasn't aware that DQs could only be given out if the person who interferes is over five feet tall, but apparently that's the standard for CMLL. Apart from that, this was close to flawless. The match also peaked perfectly at the finish, which featured one of the most visually satisfying SSPs you will ever see. ****3/4"
