[10.0] "It was an excellent tag team match. It really was one of the best tag team matches I've ever seen in WWE, at a WrestleMania and anywhere else. These four guys worked so well together. A lot of the match was The Usos in control with Zayn getting his ass kicked and then the comeback was glorious leading to the hot finish. There were so many superkicks in the match. I lost count. I think it worked in the sense that The Usos just kept wearing down Zayn throughout the match, then they put Owens through the table. There were so many moments where it looked like The Usos were going to win, but deep down watching this you knew that Zayn and Owens just had to win. We got the happy ending, but it was done in a way where the story was so important. Zayn had to put Jey away with the Helluva Kick three times because The Usos are so tough to beat, so that puts over The Usos as an incredible team. These four guys put on an outstanding match. Listen to the crowd. They loved it. I did too."

"Even though I desperately wanted Sami to win the big one in 2023, this match was an awsome payoff for his character arc with the bloodline. The match itself deserves the five stars, with an incredible level of in-ring psychology and great work from all the competitors. One of the best tag team matches in WWE history. Owens's first hot tag is really cool, the Usos's combinations showcase their tremendous talent as a team, and the final chapter of the match with all the false finishes gets you to the edge of your seat even for a rewatch. There is no second lost, no wasted movement, and Sami's selling throughout the match makes his comeback at the end epic. Rarely had a match been the pinacle of so much drama and history in WWE, and on so many levels (the history between sami and kevin, all the storylines and character arcs leading into this match). One of my favorite wrestlemania main events of all time and maybe the most emotional ending to a show since wrestemania 30."

From where it started to where it ended, it was an incredible year of television that WWE will almost certianly never top and it ended in an all time classic tag team match between one of the greatest tag teams to ever do it and two Canadian wrestling legends who's parrallel careers make the mythology of this match all the more special. Kevin Steen and El Generico made history at Mania 39, absolute cinema"

I think that if you watched this match being unaware of the story and the stakes of the match, then you would still be impressed, but it wouldn't be as amazing as it was knowing the gravity of the story. It's not as great watching a few years later, but it still is an amazing tag team match, and a perfect way to close night 1 of my favorite WrestleMania ever. 9/10 or 4.75 Stars"

[7.0] "Yes, this match is pretty good and not as bad as "Civil War" with The Usos and Reigns with Solo Sikoa. But I can't understand why some matches involving Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are rated so highly? Yes, they elevated the match with The Usos to an acceptable level, and the SamiKO victory moment was beautiful (unlike what we had to watch at WM38). But if you compare this match to the best matches of The Young Bucks, for example, with Lucha Brothers or Omega and Page, you don't need to be a fan of The Young Bucks to see the difference in quality. Yes, there were explosive spots and a sense of epicness. But it's still a match with The Usos. They don't really do anything except frog splashes, suicide dives, and spam superkicks. Yeah, there was a spot on the commentator's table... but it's pretty standard. Owens performed explosive moves... but we've seen him do that very often. As for Zayn, his move set was completely cut down, and that was noticeable. I think if Zayn had his previous moveset, the match would have been much better in quality. But instead, it's spam superkicks and Helluva Kicks. In my opinion, it's an ordinary match that is saved by the atmosphere, crowd reactions, and the beautiful SamiKO victory. And I understand why people like this match, but I think it could have been much better."

I'm definitely more of a KO guy, but Sami was the MVP of this match. He took the brunt of the punishment, sold incredibly well and made you care so much more about the match. Great main event to Night 1."

[3.0] "This is one of the most disappointing moments of my whole life. This match was stupid asf -- a big, meaningless finisher spam. Even the signatures were spammed. From what I saw, the Owens-Zayn win was a ridiculous moment, far from great or even good, because it made no common sense. The Usos were dominating, and honestly, if they had won, it would've been much better. This is absolutely not the right way to end a 600+ day title reign, although the storytelling was actually good but that doesn't Covers up the stupidity that happened And on top of all that, this was the farthest thing from emotional for me *1/2"

[10.0] "A masterpiece of storytelling. The Sami Zayn and Bloodline saga is already cemented as one of WWE's all-time great narratives, and this match serves as its emotional crescendo. Sami's crowning moment isn't just a payoff to months of drama; it's a legendary milestone in WWE history. In a weekend stacked with standout matches, this one being in contention for match of the weekend is proof of just how special it was. The chemistry between all four men is flawless, every beat landing with maximum emotional impact. Sami kicking out of the 1-D is not only a history-making spot but a star-making one; the kind of moment people will point to as the defining step in his journey when he eventually wins a world title. And Jey Uso? When he's locked in, he delivers nothing short of masterpieces. This is easily one of the greatest tag team matches in WWE history. ****3/4"

They worked a full PWG-style bout just to give us a masterpiece of a story at the ending stretch. Perfection. It is only fitting that guys like Zayn and Owens were able to have a moment like that, specially TOGETHER. The kind of thing you only see in movies, impeccable stuff."

The match that finally cemented Sami Zayn as a star! Great chemistry between the four, the psychology and construction behind this match is absurd! You know you're watching a classic when the storyline is great and the match is just as good. And the crowd really improves the experience, when the referee counts to 3 and the whole arena explodes... Perfect!"

KO doesn't do all that much, Zayn elevates it as much as one man in a tag match can, but... Look, I can't complain too much about the Usos spamming superkicks given my affection for the Young Bucks. But I just feel like it's literally all they have outside of splashes. I don't have exhaustive familiarity with them and I do think they're good, but I feel like there might just be a hard four-star ceiling on their matches because of this lack of depth to their moveset."

I'm also so glad that the main event of mania isn't restricted to just singles matches anymore. Got to say when KO and Sami walked out, it felt like I was watching ROH, so poetic. The match didn't feel like a regular, traditionally formatted tag match either. We were introduced to the emotion from the get go. Both KO and Sami know how to play with us fans emotions also, that is why there shouldn't be any argument when acknowledging those two in the greatest of all time especially of our generation. Kudos to the Usos as well, they too brought their A game. As the saying goes, "it takes two to tango". In this case four."

[10.0] "Meltzer was right on the money with this one. A true masterpiece in pro wrestling storytelling history. Definitely the best main roster tag match I've seen to date (haven't seen the No Mercy tag yet). This match had it all. It had the story, the work was great, the structure was perfect, it never got boring, and even the commentary was good. The only thing here that bugs me is how Corey keeps pushing the idea that Kevin will get DQ'd if he gets involved why not the legal guy. It's fucking stupid. That doesn't hurt my enjoyment of the match though. In fact, I didn't notice a single thing even remotely close to being a slip up. Everything here was perfect. They built up to the hot tags brilliantly. These near falls are among some of the best ever. Specifically Sami's kick out of the 1-D. I loved how The Usos would strategically eliminate one member of the faces for a prolonged period of time, just for them to pop up again when it matters most. Furthermore, I'd like to acknowledge just how great Sami is in the underdog babyface roll. Legitimately perfect. He's one of the best sellers in the industry right now and he remains a fan favorite to this day. The finish with Sami killing Jey with the 3 helluva kicks is just the cherry on top. Heavy contender for WWE's 2023 MOTY rivaled only by a match that occurred the following night. 10/10 [*****]"

[7.0] "From strictly an in-ring workrate and psychology perspective, this is an average match - a spotfest that becomes boring through repetition. It's elevated because it's the culmination to a story that many viewers were emotionally invested in. They were trying to tell the story that KO and Sami Zayn didn't have the same level of chemistry as the Usos, and I get that WWE doesn't officially acknowledge other promotions, but KO/Kevin Steen and Sami Zayn/El Generico had 157 matches as partners prior to this match. There could have been more cohesive tag team offense between them."

It's a shame this came as a consolation prize for Zayn, because his work on this entire feud has been stellar. The storytelling in this was out of this world and the match was completely dramatic and tense - {****1/4}"
ZooWee wrote on 19.08.2024:
[6.0] "This match is still relatively solid but on rewatch this just isn't as good as previously thought it was. Sami and KO carry this one hard, playing great underdogs, especially Sami who spends the better half of the match getting beaten down by the Usos in some remarkably boring heat segments which are only made bearable by how good Sami's jelly legged selling was. This match is really bogged down by those "epic storytelling" moments which in some respects are earned considering how hot and melodramatic the story was leading up to the match but they're far too frequent and involve a lot of stalling and just standing around doing nothing. The Usos will beat down Sami and say some shit along the lines of "you deserve this Sami! " in a mean voice and it's like wow this is some incredible storytelling guys, great heelwork too, this is truly cinema. Sami and KO are unfortunately guilty of this too. The finish sees Sami hit 3 Helluva kicks on Jey but prior to that he just stares at him for 5 seconds with a vague expression on his face, like I honestly don't know what emotion he was attempting to convey there. This isn't a bad match, and it does have a few great moments in it but without all of the melodrama I think this definitely could've been a far better match than it ended up being. ***1/4"

The three final Helluva Kicks are worthy of five stars. The drama Zayn masterfully managed to show in all three kicks was storytelling in its pure form. The match is classic heel team vs face, who comebacks when it seems to not be hope. But it was so magical it deserved the five stars."

I remembered that it was obviously phenomenal, but I rediscovered the match and I loved it, so many great moments and great nearfalls. I get that this match is supposed to be like Sami and Jey's moment but its weird to have a tag match where the other guys on both teams are barely involved outside of a few big spots. I know its the whole "sports entertainment" style and all, but having people in the middle of the match just stand doing nothing while talking to each other really pulled me out of this. Sami also seems like the only one in this match who's actually selling moves, which is weird."

The Usos are great in a tag team setting and were an equal opponent to them. I think the match could have been even better and they missed that extra gear to put it into 9-10 territory, but I had a great time watching this. It's the typical issue with Sami Zayn in recent times where they just beat down this guy and he comes back with 2 to 3 moves. Looking back, The Usos vs New Day in HiaC definitely tops this match bell to bell, but the atmosphere here made this a great watch and a rewarding end to a long storyline. ****"

The Usos seems to be destroying Sami Zayn, Finisher after Finisher, only for him to get a rush of spirit for no real reason, does one power move, then go back to being a corpse. Just did not hit for me. You swear this was a kickboxing match with how many kicks (Superkicks from the Usos, and the Corner kick from Sami) there were you swear this was a kickboxing match. With how many they did it just grinded the effectiveness down. Also in my opinion WWE's commentary team did not a very good job, I lowered the volume of the match cause it began to grate on me. The story going into this match was near perfect, two former friends torn on whether to team up to take down the brothers that held Sami back from being a superstar, and in the end, they came together to fight off two parts of the Bloodline. The match was red hot for almost every minute and by the end, the energy was through the roof, three helluva kicks by Sami to Jey ended up finishing the story and creating one of the best feel-good stories and moments in Wrestlemania history.
