I won't go as far to say this match was incredible, because it follows a lot of same-y stuff a lot of modern Cell matches do, and of course, these guys worked together so many times that a lot of stuff is repeated, but they throw a lot of new and interesting spots and ideas in there. The use of color is effective here, and both guys look spent by the end. It really shows that both these guys have great respect for the other, but will pull out all the stops to win. Edge interfering worked here, as it keeps Undertaker looking like the master of Cell matches while Batista retains. I wouldn't put this in my top 5 Cell matches, but it'd probably make top 10. Not a legendary match, but damn good, and worth your time to watch.

Da war zum einem einer der Meister der Hell In A Cell Matches drin, der Undertaker und sein Gegner war der Mann welcher Hunter die erste Hell In A Cell Niederlage zufügte, Batista. Das verrückte finde ich immer noch wie konnte damals Edge da als verkleideter Kameramann nicht bemerkt worden sein. Ich gebe (****).

Some brutally good spots in here with a crazy blade job from Batista which was awesome. The Batista bomb through the table and the tombstone on the steps were both insane and the finish set up edge and takers mania 24 match. 4.5/5

It's a shame the feud ended like this.

It started off slow, but picked up near the end with the use of the table and stairs. Of course the interference from Edge also drags the rating slightly down. A 7 seems right as it was a good match but not great.

While I don't consider HIAC match the best from this rivalry (my personal favourite is their first meeting at WrestleMania), I can't say they didn't do very well. Dangerous chair shots, blade jobs, insane kick-outs (especially the moment when Batista survives first Tombstone) and a dramatic ending with the return of Edge - everything was here.

They should have used weapons more frequently and the pace of the match should have been a little faster, but it was still watchable. Not bad, not tremendous, just ok.

I still enjoy this one a bit more than their Backlash draw, but Edge's return, while a great moment, simply spoiled a big time rubber match, which would've been okay I guess if only the two would've run it back one final time. [ = 8.5/10 ] **** 1/4

Not to say that the ending was bad, per se. It's just that a clean finish to end the feud of Batista and Taker in Hell in a Cell would have been best. Still, everything before that was great. Both guys beat the hell out of each other. Batista even kicked out of the Tombstone Piledriver! Great stuff, overall, despite the ending.

Like their previous matches, they take a while to build it up but when they do so it's awesome. Two big dudes hitting each with weapons, hitting big shots, and bleeding like hell is awesome. Tombstone on the steps and just as Taker is about to win after a tombstone on the steps we get Edge costing Taker the match to help Batista retain the title.****

6406.07.2020CM Guevara6.0Gerade im Kontext der Hell in a Cell Matches von 2018 und 2019, oder auch Rollins vs. Ambrose 2014, und der damit einhergehenden, berechtigten Kritik finde ich dieses Match überbewertet. Zunächst mal kommt es hier schon zu einem regulären Finish und es endet immerhin nicht einfach im No Contest, aber angekündigt war dies als "Rubber" Match, für das diese Matchart ja prädestiniert ist, nachdem Taker und Batze je einen Sieg gegeneinander für sich beanspruchten durften und es 2 Draws gegeben hatte. Die Fehde der beiden gegeneinander war hiernach quasi vorbei, es sollte also zu keiner wirklichen Auflösung kommen. Es ist einerseits gelungen, die Fehde zwischen Taker und Edge anzuheizen, die ja immerhin zum Wrestlemania Main Event werden sollte. Andererseits finde ich es schade, dass Taker und Batista nie die Auflösung ihrer hervorragenden Fehde bekommen haben, die sie verdient gehabt hätten. Das Match selbst ist ein typischer Brawl, den Taker eher dominiert als Batista, als die Schlussphase eingeläutet wird, kommt der ikonische Eingriff von Edge. Das Ganze führt auch zu einem Triple Threat Match bei Armageddon, das jedoch hinter den Erwartungen zurück bleibt, doch warum verhilft Edge eigentlich Batista hier zum Sieg? Beide fehdeten über Monate hinweg im gleichen Jahr, sodass mir die Logik fehlt. Als Match selbst ganz gut, der Aufbau zu Mania top durch Edges überraschenden Eingriff, aber für mich bleibt der Beigeschmack, dass man eine der besten Fehden der WWE nie richtig beendet hat.

Batista vs. Undertaker ist eine Draw-Fehde, offenbar ist es kaum möglich den beiden Niederlagen zu booken. Dass ein HiaC durch eine Interference entschieden wird, geht ein bisschen gegen die Matchidee. Insgesamt ein immer noch ansehnliches HiaC, aber kein hochklassiges. Aufgerundete ***1/2.

Those last 10 mins are gruesome, action packed, dramatic, the great stuff you expect out of a HIAC match. Big move after big move, both men bleeding like stuffed pigs, shades of Lesnar vs Undertaker No Mercy 2002 at points and the ending, like Orton v Michaels, is great. Tombstone by Taker and a kick out. Then a tombstone on the steel steps and Edge returns to save Batista and cost Taker the win. Amazing moment to cap off a sometimes dull match with an unbelievable ending sequence. I agree with the **** rating

7919.01.2018TheLoudMouth10.0Das Hell In A Cell-Match zwischen Batista und dem Undertaker bei der Survivor Series 2007 war in meinen Augen tatsächlich das Beste ihrer großartigen Fehde. Die Beiden hatten untereinander eine derart gute Chemie, sodass das Match zu keinem Zeitpunkt langweilig wurde. Eine tolle Intensität mit vielen brutalen Moves, die das Match fast schon zu einer Schlacht machen. Der stark umgesetzte Eingriff von Edge setzt dem ganzen die Krone auf und ist im Endeffekt der Startpunkt für die nächste große Fehde des Undertakers.

It wasn't pretty - after being sent shoulders-first into the stairs Batista bladed, he then didn't like his own blade job so he faded back down into the mats to better his work before being picked up by Taker for a face-first throw into the cage - and though the office wanted Batista to 'win' this feud and be seen as the face of the Smackdown brand, he wasn't that over. Thus we get (one of a few over the years) Edge returning on a big PPV match to cover for a Taker JOB, and ends the PPV on a blah note as I wasn't really excited by the prospects of a long Edge/Taker feud.

I usually love feud ending matches but this didn't do it for me. The beginning of the bout felt dull and didn't pick up till they started introducing weapons. Then it was the usual nearfalls sequence with the big moves until the dumbass finish. I didn't like Edge interfering one bit as he just ruined any chance of this having a complete conclusion. Decent at best IMO. (**1/4)

Es war das Match of the Night vor dem Orton vs. Michaels Match, doch die Beteiligung von Edge hätte ich hier nicht gebraucht und versaut dann wohl leider ein episches Ende. Allerdings war es bis zum Finish ein ziemlich starkes Match mit einigen tollen Spots und kaum irgendwelchen langweiligen Phasen. Gehört nicht zu den besten HIAC-Matches, aber ist definitiv eine Empfehlung wert. Für mich war Batista vs. Undertaker die Fehde des Jahres. Das letzte große Match der beiden hätte sicherlich einen besseren Abschluss verdient. **** (13)

This one had some small issues, like some uncomfortable unprotected head shots in the wake of the Benoit tragedy and some inconsistent stuff about the rules (rope break in a no DQ match? ), but also some excellent stuff like the impressive blade jobs, Taker's table bump, and the Tombstone on the steps. All in all it still holds up really well and I'd be happy to recommend it to anyone.

9224.06.2015Kid Rock8.0Natürlich, Leuten mit einer grundsätzlichen Allergie gegen jegliche Form von Outside-Interferences wird man das Finish des Matches kaum schmackhaft machen können, ich persönlich find es immer noch brillant, wenn nicht sogar historisch. Edges Attacke ist für mich ein legendärer Moment und retrospektiv betrachtet ein wichtiger Baustein für die epische Fehde gegen den Taker gewesen, die ab dem Moment erst so richtig entfacht werden konnte. Außerdem führte es zu einem nahtlosen Übergang zwischen Taker vs. Batista, hin zu Taker vs. Edge. Für alle die den Sinn auch nach 8 Jahren nicht verstehen: Edge wollte nicht gegen den Undertaker um den Titel antreten, weil er dachte, Batista sei der einfachere Gegner, schließlich konnte er ihn in jenem Jahr immerhin bei drei PPVs am Stück besiegen. Soviel zur Logik. Zum Match an sich: Ein schön intensives, brutales und zum bisher letzten Mal in der Geschichte von Hell in a Cell auch sehr blutiges Match welches die Ringchemie zwischen dem Deadman und Batista noch mal hervorragend zur Schau stellen und diese noch um einige nette Hardcore-Elemente erweitern konnte. Es zwar zweifelsfrei nicht das beste Cell-Match aller Zeiten, nicht mal eines der besten. Dazu hat noch der besondere Pfiff, sowie vor allem etwas mehr Zeit gefehlt. Aber als Main Event der Show und Final-Match der Rivalität zwischen den beiden war es mehr als geeignet. Ich für meinen Teil war sehr zufrieden damit.
9315.06.2015colonel7.0Gutes HiaC-Match das zeigt warum man die Stipulation in der PG-Ära abschaffen sollte. Ein HiaC-Match muss hart, brutal und blutig sein oder man sollte es lassen. Dieses hier ist alles und daher auch wie die anderen Batista vs Taker-Matches gut. Allerdings hat es ein bescheuertes Finish was dem Match mindestens 2 Punkte klaut. Keine Ahnung warum man sowas als Fehdenabschluss bringt.

Taker dominiert früh nach Stuhlschlägen auf den Kopf von Batista, Batista kommt zurück, nachdem er Taker mit der Treppe zu Brei schlägt. Die Finish-Phase ist gut, leider will Batista das Match nur noch schnell beenden und sellt kein Drama. Taker kann das besser. Warum Edge am Ende ausgerechnet gegen den Taker eingreift, weiß kein Schwein, hätte es hier nicht nötig gehabt und ist dem - damals noch nicht verbrauchten - HiaC unwürdig. Trotzdem ein schöner blutiger Brawl

Richtig starke Schlacht, die zeigt, dass heutige HiaC Kämpfe einfach nicht mehr mithalten können. Der Fehdenabschluss wird in der Tat etwas verwässert, wenn man das so nennen mag, aber immerhin wird gleich die nächste weitergeführt/gestartet, 8 Punkte.
