Is surprising to see this match because Taker and Batista are not incredible wrestlers, i mean, Taker inring quality is not the best and for Batista the same thing, but his chemistry is very impressive and this for 15 minutes worked excellent. Big moves, spots, the kickouts, the hot crowd. A perfect match for Wrestlemania. ****/25 |

Never been a fan of Batista's selling and overall movement around the ring but he did well enough in this match, JBL on commentary was awesome as always, classic. |

Never been a huge Batista fan, but I was such a mark for the Undertaker and he is my all time favorite. Watching this match back in the day surely was one huge deal, but watching it now doesn't hit the same for me. The storyline going into this match was really simple but so well told and interesting. It was the two alpha males of the SmackDown pack going head to head for supremacy, for the World Title. They didn't went with the typical "Face vs Face, honor first and shows of love and respect after the match" type of bout. This was intense since the bell rang, with Batista not hesitating to Spear Taker as soon as the match started. Now, here comes the problems. As the match went by, I didn't felt the same intensity the video package show from their rivalry and it kinda became a light (but longer) version of Lesnar vs Goldberg at WrestleMania 33. Two big dudes doing a lot of power stuff inside and outside the ring. The difference between these two matches is that this one being longer meant it was also slower and the match in general felt too formulaic. A table breaking spot, finisher nearfalls, an epic spot with Taker diving over the top rope and finally Taker winning the match. The rivalry suggested this being more aggresive that it ended up being, but both men did a solid job in this match (*** 3/4) |
