They all avoided the triple threat burden of two guys fighting while ones on the outside very well since it was so fast paced that nobody would ever stay outside for more than a minute. The build of this match was kinda weird, look I don't wanna claim that they were playing off of Eddie's death or anything crazy like that since it seemed kinda minor to the build and Rey probably was a great friend of his so it actually does hold some weight, but idk man I'm not sure if I agree with Rey winning. The crowd also seemed to have a noticeably mixed opinion on rey, as every time he was hitting his moves you would hear an audible amount of boos mixed with the cheers. Again thats kinda weird since he was supposed to be the face but hey idk I wasnt watching back then. The promos and entrances before the match were longer than the match itself funny enough, and honestly that's not a bad thing. I feel like the short time worked very well for these guys. I will say I do feel like there were a bit too many pinfalls, and the final pin that Rey gets felt kinda weird since so many were previously kicked out of, and also Kurt was trying to break it up but was too late, so I thought they would keep going but Nope! Match over! And I was like Okay! Also that double suplex Angle hit was sick. GG. |

Their time got cut due to one of the matches before hand, I think someone said Shawn/Vince went longer than planned. The match happened in Chicago, which is a smarter crowd, so them along with everyone else who was watching pretty much knowing in advanced where they were going with the finish didn't do it any favors. Hence Rey Mysterio getting booed the whole match. Also, Randy Orton who was the most integral part in this as the villain got in trouble or something, and was going to be off t.v. for 2 months following the event. Anyway, they really worked this match at a fast pace. All 3 of the guys went for pinfalls after hitting the bigger moves of the match to try to win the match. They did a call back to the go home smack down before this by having Kurt who was the world champion here make both of the guys tap out at certain points in the match with the only saving grace being the 3rd man in the ring of the two doing something to have the ref distracted. All negative factors aside, as a mexican american kid, I have always been a mark for Rey Mysterio so him getting his moment here was awesome, and winning it in honor of Eddie made it even more special. |

Le match pour moi est fou et le couronnement de Rey restera dans ma mémoire à jamais. L'outsider qui gagne face aux deux superstars que sont Kurt et Randy, le petit gars qui réalise son rêve pour honorer la mémoire de son meilleur ami parti trop tôt, une histoire digne d'un film. |

Of course, there are 5-minutes sprints after this one, but they arent as memorable as this classic. This battle became the predecessor for Lesnar/Goldberg at Mania 33, Lesnar/Rollins at Mania 35 & Lesnar/McIntyre at Mania 36. The breakneck pacing, the incredible competitors and the promise Rey kept becoming the ultimate result of the contest are those that made this bout as one of the underrated World Championship matches in WrestleMania in my opinion. 4 out of 5 stars! |

Lots of nice spots too, such as that insane double German Suplex by Angle, but also some minor but noticeable botches here and there. The result was a pretty bad one though in my opinion. Don? t get me wrong, Rey definitely deserved a moment like this ? but at the cost of ending a Kurt Angle title reign that seemed to be on it? s road to being legendary? Hell no. And of course, while Rey winning was a feel good moment, it would end up being one of the most boring title reigns that I can think of. Still, this match was still pretty damn great. **** |
