[7.0] "Nice, well balanced. It liked how the final four actually earn their place, Batista, even if he entered on the 28 spot managed to eliminate the big man Snitsky and 2 recurrent great competitors like Christian and Jericho, i was shocked when he threw Jericho out, then Cena did his part with the "slay a giant" with Viscera and Kane, while Edge and Mysterio worked really good during all the match, specially Rey with his ability to eliminate, like he did against Kenzo since the moment he entered as well as avoiding elimination, Edge managed to eliminate a dominant Eddie, a former winner in Flair and doing the smart strategy with Shelton, and he been eliminate by Cena and Batista did a lot for his credibility. Benoit showed another great exhibition, never letting down for a fight a his elimination was useful on the Flair heel persona. Shawn and Angle were the strongest cases to win the whole thing, and they could easily made it to the final 2 but they basically eliminate each other, i liked situations like this, a big what if. It was a strong roster, not so much veterans but a lot of potential on low and mid card guys, the ring was very full during a long time. The right man won. ***1/2"

Not the best rumble."

Great moments from Londons elimination to puder getting absolutely destroyed and of course Batista and cenas double elimination which wasnt supposed to happen. Then In all that chaos Vince comes out tears both his quads while ordering the match to restart lol fantastic stuff. Batista wins almost immediately following the restart. A top 5 rumble for me I love this match. 4.5/5"

After the 30th entry (Flair), the bout started to be good again, with some nice eliminations and a good pace, but then Cena and Batista botched the finish, causing an absolute mess, with Vince injuring himself in the process. The most tragicomic Rumble conclusion of all time! My rating: ***"

[9.0] "This Rumble is mostly remembered for the botched ending, but even though the Cena/Batista ending was a bit of a mess, it was an entertaining mess largely because they had to improvise the finish on the fly and Vince McMahon inadvertently gave us one of the most hilarious moments in Rumble history where he's all pissed off storming into the ring and then blowing both his quads! Still even that aside, there was a lot of good moments here like Benoit, Guerrero and Holly absolutely killing Puder in there. The Wrestlemania set up for Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels started here and Paul London takes one of the sickest bumps I've ever seen when he flips after he is eliminated by Snitsky and is carried out of the arena. If the backstage stories are true about Vince punishing London for that instead of making sure he was okay, that was just shitty! There's a lot of good talent there, although other than the finish the only complaint I really had about the booking was the eliminations for guys like Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit felt a little bit anticlimactic. Also does Scotty too Hotty ever enter a Royal Rumble because he seems to get the same spot every year."

[10.0] "Amazing Rumble. Eddie and Chris is the best start of a Rumble ever (except for '08) (#1-#2). Poor Puder (#3-#4). Poor Hurricane (#5). Why did Hurricane got eliminated immediately but not Kenzo Suzuki? ! ? ! (#6). Wtf, what kind of entrances were this? This match is stacked as hell (#7-11). SD vs Raw moment, they should've used this moment for the game's marketing The Hassan moment was funny but cringe also. They should've used another heel. (#13). Poor Scotty. Poor Haas, who got laid down immediately after he entered. Again. René deserved a better career. Bye Eddie. Shawn and Kurt at WM was amazing. Oh no, Coach. Various guys. Poor London. Damn, Batista is over. Poor Christian. Woooooo! The ending made this match special. If it ended with Batista throwing out Cena cleanly it would've hurt Cena. But this unscripted moment made them look like stars. Vince no-selling an injury was legendary. He beat Shane here. Plus, JR and Tazz together are AMAZING. Best commentary ever and underrated"

[6.0] "It's fun watching rumbles from when I wasn't following wrestling at all and trying to guess who the winner will be. Based on crowd reactions, it pretty much had to be either Batista or John Cena, and sure enough that's who it came down to. The false double winner ending felt unnecessary since it had already been done before in 1994, but the aftermath with Vince running out and tearing his quads or whatever was hilarious. The whole thing was super awkward as Vince just sat there in the ring stewing over what just happened. Other than that, most of the other memorable moments were actually pretty cringey, such as Benoit/Eddie/Holly hazing Daniel Puder and then everyone in the ring ganging up on Muhammad Hassan, seemingly because he was Muslim? This is still worth watching for the ending and the hot crowd but it doesn't hold up that well today. ***"

[5.0] "I've never been a big fan of Royal Rumbles, and I found this particular one pretty mediocre. The main issue was that while everyone, especially the stars, got some key moments to shine, there ultimately weren't any especially compelling stories throughout the bulk of the duration. The first 10 or so entrants made for a mostly pretty strong group, and the majority of the best moments happened during that portion of the match, but then more and more nobodies entered while top stars started being eliminated without any proper build or excitement. Eddie getting eliminated so unceremoniously was especially egregious given how massively over he was with the fans. The match quickly slotted into the 'Rumble speciality' structure where it mostly just featured a bunch of bland brawling against the ropes, which was mostly used by everyone as an excuse for a rest period until going to whatever big spot was up next between whatever pairing. The best moment of the match easily went to London for his absolutely insane flip bump off the apron from Snitsky's lariat. The final few guys didn't have the most exciting interactions or elimination-teases, but then I was super impressed by the initial controversial finish with both Batista and Cena being eliminated at exactly the same time. I get that fans would've wanted a definitive winner, but I just thought the execution of both guys being eliminated together was so great that it justified being the legitimate finish, with both Batista and Cena then getting the right to challenge for their respective brands' main title at Wrestlemania. Apparently that was actually a botched finish, though, and so instead they did an awkward song and dance where the refs for each brand tried to say their guy won, then Vince stormed down and injured himself, leading to both Cena and Batista unofficially eliminating each other as if to try solidify their victories, and then the match properly restarted, with Batista quickly throwing Cena out for the win, making Cena look like a massive afterthought in the process. You can't tell me that the mess of a finish we got was actually better than just having both guys declared dual winners. Match was fine enough but c'mon, for nearly 60 minutes of wrestling I need far higher quality. **3/4"

[7.0] "This was a rumble with a lot of in ring storytelling, for instance chops are a motif from the beginning to nearly the end of the match. The combo of JR and Taz has always been a secret favorite of mine. It's not awesome on this match but it's still fun and never cringe-inducing. This match has a lot of no-names but doesn't feel that lacking in star power for some reason, probably because the real stars are such big stars. All of the set pieces are entertaining, well timed and it rarely drags. I hated the Daniel Puder stuff which was sick and cruel so it loses a point for that but gets it back for the legendary finish that seems like a work until it gets too real to be make believe. This is a good period for wwe and it results in a decent rumble here. Worth a watch but there are more entertaining rumbles."

[5.0] "There's a lot of cool moments in this rumble like the famous Paul London spot, Simon Dean exercising before being immediately eliminated. But there's also.. I won't say bad but uncomfortable moments. Daniel Puder being hazed by Benoit, Eddie & Holly, and then after Bob Holly eliminates Puder, Holly right away gets elminated which just shows he was only booked in that spot to beat the piss out of puder. Muhammed Hassan whose whole deal was "People Don't like me because I'm Middle Eastern" getting shitcanned by literally everyone in the ring at that point. and then for some reason Coach was in this Rumble, just to get his ass kicked by Batista. and then the botched ending with Vince tearing his quads was the icing on the cake. Not a good rumble at all honestly, but it has it moments."

It was glaring obvious throughout that drug testing was nonexistent as there were a lot of guys that were clearly on the gas, and one of them, Rene Dupree, was inflated to such a ridiculous degree that he looked like he stepped right out of the 80s."

[8.0] ""We've got a major malfunction of the junction here".

There really aren't that many highlights; Angle cleaning house and then getting eliminating by HBK is cool, but then when Angle comes back it is dumb as hell (how is that a legal elimination? ). Overall, not really worth your time. **1/2, I guess..."

HudE wrote on 07.03.2016:
**** 1/4 (4)"

This was the rumble where we got a glimpse into the future with the final four men being Batista, Edge, Rey Mysterio and John Cena who would all win rumbles in the future and all go on to be World Champions and top stars for WWE. The finish didn't go down how it was originally planned but I actuallu preferred the improvised finish. Best Rumble in my opinion. ****1/4"
