Hardy finally overtook Edge, he countered him at most crucial moment and outsmarted him.... and then it was all taken away by CM Punk. [4] / plus an extension... the cash-in for Punk was one final pop for the crowd, one last gasp of Jeff's tenacity and will before Punk carelessly undoes a hellacious performances. Selfish, rotten, scheming bastard he is. [3] |

There are some pretty crazy spots that don't get a lot of love on Jeff Hardy's highlight reel, such as his leap of faith to the hanging title, the big spill off the ladder on the outside, and the awesome callback to WM17 where Edge went for the same spear off the ladder but this time got countered with a Twist of Fate. The finish wasn't anything jaw dropping, but I thought it was a clever spot that worked well. It's not the all time classic that I imagine some fans went in hoping for given the reputation of these two men with this stipulation, but it was still a strong PPV main event that has become a bit forgotten over time. |

But this was great from start to finish and saw a great balance of innovation and a story that felt far bigger than this match. 4.25 stars, 8.5 out of 10. What a battle. |

Multiple moments during this match were fantastic, the baseball slide into the ladder, Jeff tossing Edge over the top rope and landing on the ladder, Jeff Hardy slamming Edge onto the ladder caused major reaction from the crowd because that looked like that hurt, the Whisper in the Wind from off the ladder onto Edge, Jeff Hardy and Edge both going through a ladder, Jeff Hardy getting Edge stuck and then climbing the ladder and taking the title right in front of his eyes and all these moments caused this match to be outstanding. Fantastic entertainment, they gave it all their all, brilliant. CM Punk cashing in at the end of the match was very upsetting by many fans reactions as Hardy had earned that title after a fantastic match but either way. Brilliant match. Would love to see a modern day bout between these two to see if they still have it in the tank. |
