[7.0] "An entertaining match but no more than that the match felt good but there was not much demonstration of skill or technique the spots were good but I think it was good to have Dexter Lumis won, it was a good match but no more."
[7.0] "A good 23 minute gauntlet match with fun action . A few sloppy moments after L. A Knight entered and he and Bronson were exchanging blows and it felt so choreographed and went nowhere. The stars of this match were Scott, Grimes and Reed in that order . Although , Lumis and Ruff looked good here too . L. A worked his ass off momentarily as well but his time was pretty short so not much can be deduced from it. It starts off really good with the boiling animosity between Ruff and Scott being displayed and my favorite spot was that cutter from the table by Ruff on Scott . Then Grimes enters and pays off Scott to form a unholy alliance . Reed has a good enough showing as well in which he squashes Ruff twice by dropping all his weight on his chest and that is all for Ruff . Lumis comes in and connects with those awesome looking rebound suplexes and even lifts Reed on his shoulders . L. A eliminates him after he locks in the silence on Grimes by sneaking through a roll up pin . L. A is eliminated few seconds later after Scott , Grimes and Reed all hit their respective moves . I like how Grimes and Scott then work together to take down the big man in Reed and I liked the sequence where the are exchanging strikes in a triangle and the one where Scott tosses Grimes and Reed catches him in a pile driver position and Scott nails him with a superkick and so Reed falls on both Scott and Grimes. Scott? s price goes up later in the match after he eliminates Grimes after grabbing the tights . Scott and Reed have a good final sequence with Scott hitting three consecutive round house kicks to take down Reed and then a mighty fall from the top rope to the apron which was nasty . Then , a 450 for a near fall . Reed puts him down and then the TSUNAMI for the win . Reed advancing to the title match is good for his career but personally I would have liked either Grimes vs Gargano or Scott vs Gargano. Still , this was a good match with very good momentum and easy to follow pace . Great flow and sequencing throughout . No suspense or anything except the final sequence but this was still a very good match . ***3/4"
[5.0] "The stipulation was kind of boring, like just a regular fatal 6 way, Leon Ruff is getting better, LA Kight still have it, Lumis is also fun to wacht even if he isn't the best performer, but Isaiah Scott is not the man to have at the ending, his character may be the most plain boring character in the whole nxt roster, and Bronson still feels too green, also generic big man who sometimes flies isn't a good gimmick either"
[4.0] "Did not enjoy much at all. Think most of the men here are some of the weakest that NXT has to offer and put on a very unengaging and overlong match."
"7. 75/10 is my rating for this match. This gauntlet eliminator match was pretty good with some good spots and Bronson reed was the right winner for this match."
[7.0] "Very good match, although I was expecting a LA Knight win. But hey, Bronson Reed is excellent, and he clearly deserves this opportunity. It remains to be seen if he will become champion."
[6.0] "I was not expecting the winner of this match, before I predicted it would be LA Knight or Lumis. So the two being eliminated was surprising to me, other than that there were some cool sequences throughout but it dragged a little at times and some of the antics from Grimes and Lumis seemed like they were just there to fill time. When the mtahc finally got down to just a couple people it got better."
[5.0] "Despite there being some bright spots and being exciting at points, this match greatly overstayed its welcome, didn? t flow very well, and constantly felt over-choreographed. The match started off with Isaiah Scott attacking Leon Ruff during his entrance and beating him down around the ring with occasional counters from Ruff. While Ruff bumps very well and there were a couple impressive spots, they were clearly far more focused on getting a couple spots in than establishing a good flow for the match, though this portion of the match was one of the best parts. Then came Bronson Reed, and I was very underwhelmed. Rather than wrecking shop like he could have easily with these two, he moved slowly and did like two power moves before settling in to a much slower pace. Not a great way to establish your dominant challenger for the chickenshit heel champion Gargano. Next came Cameron Grimes, I? m definitely not as high on his character as some people seem to be, I respect his dedication to the schtick but it feels very one note, and after his entrance his antics got tiresome relatively quickly, and beyond the antics Grimes was, from my experience and from his performance in this match, a bit of a bland wrestler. Next was Dexter Lumis, I think this was the first match I? ve seen from him, and perhaps it was just a bad introduction but I really don? t get it. Is his entire character really just that he? s stoic? It really doesn? t lend itself to exciting wrestling and significantly slowed the pace of the action down. LA Knight? s entrance was easily one of the highlights of this match, once he got into the ring it was about the same as it was before and after he entered. Besides a few (and I do mean few) key spots, this match was very samey and bland from the time the third entrant entered until we were down the final three, which might be excusable if it weren? t a long stretch and a majority of the match. If the match needs to have that much filler to meet the time maybe just don? t slot it for that much time. The finishing stretch was more memorable, but not very good either honestly. The sequence between Reed, Grimes, and Scott before Grimes is eliminated feels overly-choreographed to the point of awkwardness. This gets somewhat better once Grimes is eliminated, but the story of the match after that point is really weird. Scott just hits Reed with a lot and he keeps kicking out, but it doesn? t give you the feeling that Reed is a monster it just feels like they? re filling time, because a) that? s what they? ve been doing all match and b) it is incredibly obvious at this point that Reed is winning. They do many nearfalls and none of them feel dramatic, and by the last one I? m just hoping we get to the end of the match already. Reed finally ends this, but at no point looks dominant, he kinda just feels like he stumbles into winning, at many points in the match looking more like a bumbling buffoon than a monstrous force. **1/2"
[7.0] "I liked this. Well fought, well booked, i like that swerve is booked quite strong, and they obviously see something in bronson reed, the match with gargano can be very good."
[7.0] "Some PWG style madness with added Dexter Lumis and LA Knight, who didn't take too much away from it. Swerve Scott and Bronson Reed were the standouts in this match, great finishing sequence between the two."
[7.0] "Swerve was easily the overall MVP of the match. The match started and ended with him. Although he was supposed to be a slimy heel, it was very was very easy to cheer for him. I was quite surprised by Reed's win as I had pegged Lumis to challenge Gargano for the NA Title. The match could be a little awkward at times but it was magic when they got it right. The Ruff Vs Scott segment and the final three ( Reed Vs Grimes Vs Scott) were great to watch. Good match with a very good first half and a great final sequence but a mediocre middle portion. ***3/4"
[5.0] "I really didn't like this Gauntlet, Ruff and Scott arrived with Ruff being already K. O and he immediately did some high flying spots outside of the ring, I didn't like that. Lumis is really bad at his character work, and I didn't like the fact that Grimes lost money to Scott to be eliminated by him, it's just to mock Grimes and I am really not a fan of it. The finish is good but it really lacks some selling towards the end. **1/2"
[7.0] "As solid as an eliminator gauntlet can be. Isaiah put on a great performance and no one performed particularly poorly. There wasn't too much cohesion to things when the ring was at its fullest, the best moments were Scott vs Ruff and Scott vs Reed at the end."
[7.0] "this was a fun match, the key to it though is that Johnny Gargano is a heel and will face the winner on the next night, which essentially means a babyface was winning, so thats Leon Ruff (unlikely), Bronson Reed or Dexter Lumis, the obvious winner is Lumis as his story with Gargano has seemingly been going on for months, but at the halfway point in the match they seemed to drop this story and go in a new direction with LA Knight, now I wanted Reed to win and I'm delighted he's finally getting his big shot tomorrow night, but it still doesn't make much sense that they'd built up the Lumis vs Gargano match for months, then when the time comes at the big show to deliver it they changed their minds, now don't get me wrong I wanted Reed to win and I'm not a fan of Lumis as his character sucks, just don't understand the why the changed plans this late, but all in all a fun match, some nice moments with Grimes paying off Swerve to team with him before turning on and eliminating him, the Swerve vs Reed finale was really good with Reed showing lots of heart kicking out of several big moves from Swerve before getting the win with Wade Barrett's favourite move the TSUNAMI! , good match and I think Reed vs Gargano tomorrow night will be excellent too (***1/4)"
[6.0] "The match was good. Fine wrestling and some fun upsets, but the match struggle to invenst me. There is a big dragging point where i was more checking my phone than the match. The end was way better, but i'm not hyped for Reed facing Gargano."
[5.0] "It was fine, but it never hit that next level for me like I wanted it to. Especially for a TakeOver. I tink the right guy won, but by the end I kinda wanted to see Swerve get the victory. **3/4"
[8.0] "I'm a sucker for these elimination type matches but this was so much fun. I think with the exception of the first elimination, every guy here had a great chance to shine and came out looking a lot better than they did coming into this match. Some of LA Knight's action in particular really impressed me, it wasn't mindblowing but it really showed what he was capable of, much more than NXT has showcased lately. The Submission elimination spot was brilliant, again nothing completely unique but it made sense and it was really cool. It wasn't the most storytelling you'll see in a match, but it was probably the most fun thing on the card."
[8.0] "Bronson Reed and Strickland both showed up heavily in this match, the only gripe I can think of is how LA Knight is being treated recently but I'll wait until the conclusion of his NXT career to see if this is going to be a trend or not."
[4.0] "In ring action was good, the problem is that in ring action alone doesn't make a good match. When the prize is to fight a heel champion, having 2 faces as the first ones being out is a big no-no, having someone who doesn't have a story with the champion as the challenger at the Mania week TakeOver is really disappointing, there was too many rollups for a TakeOver match, and with only 2 hours for the night, I feel a gauntlet is not an adequate choice related to time management. I don't like to be that guy, but if it was a main roster match, everyone would complain about the booking instead of praising the action."
[6.0] "This match was alright, I don't get why we had the rules we got in this match. WWE didn't want to do a traditional Gauntlet match so they added a counter so it ended up being kinda like MLW's Battle Riot but not as fun."
[5.0] "A mediocre showcasing of fledging talent in NXT, with poor L. A. Knight/Eli Drake getting shafted and the rest of everybody else not being so special. It just felt hard to care about the other 5 as much, even though Swerve had an impressive final stretch, but they decide to push Bronson Reed, who really cannot sell. I don't understand why the mid-card of a stellar product got 23 minutes to themselves, more than any other match!"
**** 1/4. Sehr gut."
[10.0] "Great match, told a good story & some cool spots, technical & hardhitting stuff, really loved swerve scott's performance, he deserved the win, this is just for ****1/4"
[6.0] "The last 3-5 minutes with Scott and Reed were nail biting and Scott especially delivering some very impressive stuff. The rest of the match was kind of clunky and a bit formulaic. I enjoyed LA Knights antics and his promo when he entered was probably my favorite part. I wish Cameron Grimes had more to do since he? s my favorite wrestler on the brand right now. After Lumis was eliminated I knew Reed was winning which took away the suspense for most of the match. Some good stuff in different parts of the match, but overall nothing Takeover levels of insanity. ***1/4"
[3.0] "A shaming situation. Reed, question, do you know how to sell ? The ending is to vomit and this is the reason why I put a 3/10. A match that you have to DON'T watch!"
[9.0] "This was an awesome match that completely exceeded my expectations to an unimaginable degree. I was going into this match expecting it to be the worst on the card, but it turned out to be one of my favorite matches this year in the black-and-gold brand. The action was interesting from start to finish, the booking was great, the storytelling was solid and this was just so much fun. I was afraid that Lumis and Knight would ruin this match but not at all, they played their roles very well. Swerve was the MVP here, he was god damn awesome. Very surprised by the result but very happy, Reed vs Gargano will be cool tomorrow night. Great stuff all around."
[7.0] "A good match that started strong, had some dull moments in the middle and had a great closing stretch. Swerve and Ruff were excellent here, as was Reed. ***1/2"
[8.0] "After that Daisuke Sekimoto ass double suplex, there was no way this could have ended other than Reed winning. Strong World energy is critical. This was a fun gauntlet that really picked up with the final three (and the last two in particular absolutely killed it. )"
[7.0] "Ì enjoyed this match. Isaiah was a good heel attacking Leon during his entrance then taking money from Grimes to be on his side. When it got to the final three then the final two it turned into a nice spotty match."
