He fought through the pain one last time to deliver a jumping knee which helped Yatsu get the german suplex in for a win. Great match with some hard hitting spots and story."

This match keeps an excellent pace for a 20+ minute match from this era and there are plenty of great stretches throughout. There is a great story being told around Jumbo's leg and it pays off with a finish that involves him fighting through the pain to deliver one final jumping knee. The targeting of the knee works especially well since the first couple of jumping knees delivered to Tenryu are brutal and two of the best from his career."

More than stipulations, titles or blood feuds, it's the opponents drive to win which sells you on the importance of the win & the teams showcase here that they HAVE to win this one & that keeps you on the edge of your screen."

Some nice slow work in the beginning sets the tone, including a headlock spot early on from Jumbo on Tenryu that feels like petty revenge for the times Tenryu had embarrassed him with same, which made me chuckle. Things shift around four minutes in, though, as we then follow up on the 5/24 buildup tag where Tenryu had hurt Jumbo's leg; it was really satisfying to see this thread picked up on, and it definitely makes it clear that the transition into the King's Road era was well underway. Some bits of followup selling from Jumbo help as well. The work from all four men is excellent as a whole, and this match does a great job furthering the Jumbo/Tenryu rivalry at its core. The satisfying climax sees the Olympians finally put it together as a team and create the opening for Yatsu to bring it home with a bridging German on Hara. The real flaw of this match is that it couldn't headline the tour-end Budokan show, which might have put it over the top. Still, as good a tag match as the company had held since Choshu's departure. ****"
