I mean this was Hulk Hogan and early Taker, I don't think this was ever gonna be great. This is Undertaker's first WWF/E title win; not that it lasts long. I like the finish to this match with Flair getting involved and Taker giving Hogan the tombstone on the chair."

[7.0] "Fun match that doesn't overstay its welcome. I wouldn't actually call this a slow paced match. The story of the match plays out at brisk pace, and Hogan is very lively. Yes, Taker is slow and plodding, which was his gimmick at the time, but he also had bursts of lightning quick athleticism, such as his running leaping clothesline. Hogan does no-sell the Tombstone but this is due to the power of Hulkamania (its the gimmick folks) and the crowd loves it. Taker has already started to gain a fanbase though, so it's clear why he was turned within a few months. Flair's interference for the finish is an iconic moment too, and it's well executed. The cameras actually do a good job making the Tombstone to the chair look more impactful. Yes the replays aired on future shows really exposed this move since you see it again and again, but it's not obvious on first viewing. Worth it for the historic value, but if you can accept the gimmicks at play, you'll have a good time too."

[2.0] "I understand that this match has it historical significance as it Taker's first reign of the WWF Championship, but nothing happened much between the ropes in a match that lasted 12:45 minutes. I also understand it was mostly character driven rather the in-ring itself, but it wasn't enough to kick the match into the next gear for me. Unfortunately, I found it to be on the slower side, and Taker's claw hadn't improved it. Plus, it was very noticeable that Hogan was very far from the chair at the end. The crowd loved it and Hogan, of course, but in-ring wise it hadn't moved from the first gear. [*]"

[6.0] "27/11/91 Survivor Series WWF. Not the best of matches, not really a good match-up, probably a hard one to work out either way. And it was around this time I began losing interest in the WWF at the tender age of 9, well the World title at least. A good finish to a drab enough match and always good to see Hogan lose fair and square, crowd were electric, Hogan's pop not as big as it was and Undertaker got a fine pop himself. Hogan milked the tombstone finish, but it was good watching the Hulkamaniacs crying. A kind 5.5*"

[6.0] "Yes, from a modern viewer's perspective this match looks dated in terms of quality, but for fans in 1991 it must have been quite something. Only a year ago, The Undertaker, debuting and radically different from everyone else on the roster, was something special, and the fact that he defeated the face of the company and won the title was truly shocking, similar to Bruno Samartino losing his title to Ivan Koloff. Hogan was clearly outplayed, but he was damn energetic, unlike his opponent, who seemed to move slowly at first, but in important moments he was sharp and damn dangerous. And Hulk Hogan, despite his selfishness, sold the young rising star well. ***"

Early 90s Taker wasn't able to produce classic matches by himself and Hogan was only good sometimes, which wasn't the case here. Loads of rest holds and nothing fun to watch. The post match promos by Roddy Piper, Mr Perfect and Ric Flair were way more entertaining"

Taker's in control for the most of the match and I was done when the choke got put on Hogan for a few minutes. Plus Hulk has to no sell the Piledriver, which is obviously a great way to make the new monster world champion look strong."

Worth a watch"

This was all set up to make a main event for the Tuesday In Texas ppv so fans would have a reason to buy the show and see if Hogan could get the belt back, which he did. Undertaker wouldn't see another World Title until Mania 13, Nearly five and a half years later. Amazing Taker lasted so long because he got saddled with sooooo many crap feuds post Mania 8 and Mania 13."

[4.0] "This match carries HUGE historical significance, and it got Undertaker over as fuck with a huge win over Hulk Hogan and his first WWF Championship victory. On the other side of the coin though, 80% of the match itself was spent in Undertaker chokes and it wasn't very good at all. But it is memorable and it did get Undertaker over huge, so it gets a few extra points for that. [*1/4]"

[7.0] ""I give it this rating only for the historic value of this match. Undertaker first title, his rise to the Main Event level that will never leave until the end of his carrear except some Tag Team titles run with his brother Kane and the Hulkamania dying of an atrocious death by the hands of the reaper that in that period was scary as hell, one of my favorite Undertaker's versions ever, with a magneficent Paul Bearer as Manager, second only to the post WrestleMania XX return and the Ministry of Darkness version in the late 90s. I can understand why the kids were so scary of him back then... scary as F**k! Hulk Hogan will get back the title in Texas few days after because it should have prepared the territory for what could easly be the greatest match in WrestleMania history against ric Flair who helped The Deadman to win the belt in this occasion, but apart from this, this moment is historic for so many reasons and will echo in the storybooks forever. "Long Live The Undertaker! " as Bobby Heenan said at the commentary table. " Rating 7+""

[5.0] "The Undertaker looked like an unstopabble monster here and the match had its fun moments because of their characthers, two opposites clashing was what made it shine and special. But one of the things that takes it down for me is the pace of it, they had some good exchanges at the beggining but then the match go very slow, specially when The Undertaker starts using what I believe was a Mandible Claw, from this point onward the match is completely overbooked, Hogan no selling the Tombstone Piledriver and the Ric Flair run in was a confusing one to say the least. **1/2"
