304.10.2023denierstragedies6.0Some of Tenryu's most interesting work that i've seen from 1980 so far, but that's probably because it's the most prominent positioning he's had. The main draw is whenever Robinson is in the ring, particularly for me when he punks out the young Tenryu by getting him to fall out of the ring twice in a row which was very funny but also smart stuff from the veteran. Tsuruta was good too, Irwin I think I enjoy despite being clearly very rough around the edges, he has a certain terrible amateurish charm in his wobbled selling, and even does some decent stuff like a good takedown on Tsuruta. 6/10.
420.06.2023conker87.0First Tenryu / Tsuruta match in Japan on tape, this was pretty fun. Tenryu was good here and Robinson/Tsuruta was a good matchup.
527.01.2022TigerDiver6.0This was a decent, if ultimately unspectacular tag. Some good stuff then and there, but terribly dragged at points, especially for a match with hardly any context. I liked the sequences with Robinson/Tenyru and Robinson/Jumbo. Irwin was the clear weakling here, but he didn't bring anything down by much. [***1/4]
624.01.2021MagnusD5.0If it wasn't for Irwin's involvement this would definitely be a 6 or 7, it was a solid match when he wasn't in there. We got some good wrestling with Robinson and Tsuruta just days after their time limit draw, as well as Tenryu being in there with him too.
718.10.2020KinchStalker6.0I believe this is the earliest footage of Jumbo and Tenryu as a unit in Japan, though there had been a couple of American matches before this to make tape. Anyway, the first four minutes of the first fall were clipped in the contemporaneous broadcast. Young Tenryu looks good here, and Jumbo/Robinson, fresh off a time-limit draw for the former's United National title, is definitely a good matchup to build a mid-tour tag match around. Like in the 1/3 match with Hata in Jumbo's place, Irwin's work isn't as smooth as the others but I find the contrast effective. ***
