It was executed nicely, everyone was in the right place and you couldn't predict who's gonna come out on top out of that. Plus Hogan didn't kick out of the Piledriver again so that's a nice thing I guess."

Das Mark den Title verloren hat sah er als eine Bestrafung da er echt dachte er habe den Hulkster bei der SS 1991 real verletzt. Er mag ihm bis heute nicht und bestimmte Dinge haben es noch verschlimmert."

Eye rakes abound in this match too, of course. Like, I'm used to it by now but holy shit, fuck Hogan. Wins with a rollup after throwing ashes in Taker's eyes. Real nice."

Hogan sends Taker into the ropes at one point and Taker trips up and catches his head on the second rope and if you look close you can see him wince and break character. Total shmozz at the end as Flair, once again tries to get involved and he argues with Jack Tunney who is seated at ringside and Hogan wipes out Flair who splats on Tunney then Hogan uses ashes from the urn to blind Taker and hit a roll up for the pin. Hogan wins belt #3 but Tunney calls BS on this whole ordeal and strips him of the title and puts it up for grabs at the Rumble. Hogan stock with the fans starts to drop at this point noticeably and he even starts to sound like he did in WCW just before the NWO turn when he lost the WCW belt and started complaining about out side forces working against him."

This was filled with many stalling and rest holds as expected, but the energy received from the crowd was ridiculous. You wouldn't think a match this boring would've gotten this kind of reaction but such wasn't the case in 1991. Flair coming out was a nice continuity from SVS, and neatly set up the Rumble storyline. [*1/2]"

The match itself was mostly spent in Undertaker's chokes much like at Survivor Series, but a couple of botches take it down a few notches (including Undertaker tripping twice, first on the apron and the second one on the ropes going for his classic flying clothesline). The story was good and the heat was insane as expected, but I'm afraid this wasn't very good overall. [*]"

Then again, The Undertaker wasn't exactly known for his great in-ring work during this time period, he was more or less a fascinating character and little else. Hogan also offered little in the ring at this time, so the result was never going to be that interesting."

The crowd was hot for the entire thing. This match and the entire feud was setting up the major storyline for the Royal Rumble, so it accomplished what it needed to do. *3/4"
