You would have no idea that he would go on to be a 30 year staple of the business because he is very basic in this. Very clunky and clearly hasn't found his groove as a wrestler. I have never seen Saito in a good match so nothing changes there. Bam Bam and Hashimoto were on auto pilot mode but played their roles fine. If you want to see the Deadman in a completely strange environment, give it a watch but as a match, I'd give it a miss."

Das ist schon eine Rarität, ich finde Mark allererste NJPW Match als Punisher Dice Morgan dieses Gimmick hat er echt nur in Japan verwendet noch seltener. Hier gebe ich klar (***1/2)."

His flying forearm looks fantastic and his step-out top rope elbow finish is impressive. Masa Saito's side suplex to Bam Bam is also pretty good. Nothing much else of note though."

Seeing him in this match is a fascinating piece of history, wrestling Shinya Hashimoto in a New Japan ring, working side-by-side with Bam Bam Bigelow - but he wasn't a good wrestler his first few years of being the Undertaker, and this is worse. Sloppy, unrefined, and unimpressive - but that top rope elbow finish? Especially when he steps out onto the ropes? Fantastic, and very impressive. The rest of the match is largely just fine - Hashimoto and Bam Bam are great, but don't do anything special here, and working around a green rookie like 'Dice Morgan' doesn't do either any favors. Watch it for the weirdness of Undertaker-in-Japan, just don't expect much."

He does the rope walk elbow drop thing he used to do pre-Taker, but it doesn't look as good this time as he doesn't walk far before the jump. Not much to it beyond the admittedly strong novelty factor."
