WWE has never been very good at Hoss Fights because they really need that Heel Control segment for their system to work right. This match was also pretty overbooked. Run-ins, chairs, throw the ref, just so Taker can big boot and Tombstone. Then go get the flag to hold it above his head. |

It's by no means a wrestling classic, but Test is a competent opponent and the pace is quick enough to not let them stink out the arena. This goes eight minutes and it's the perfect length. The fans are just happy to see Undertaker and getting to see him hit a then-rare Tombstone was the cherry on top of this segment. I don't quite understand the low ratings this is getting. I'm not a big fan of either guy but this did everything it needed to do. I'm less keen on all the blatant rule breaking in front of the referee. Storm and Christian get into the ring in front of the referee and he does nothing. Jim Ross tries to back it up by saying they were dragged into the ring and that's only half true. Oh well, it's just padding that this match needed and it leads to a Test nearfall that actually had me biting, so it isn't the end of the world. |

He gets his rope walk this time and snake eyes, but Test stops a choke slam. Another one hits, and the Un Americans run in and Taker beats them up but Test gets the boot, but naturally it's only 2 1/2. Taker gets the tombstone in the worst match of the night. |

Luckily for Takertest was not a terrible technician. That's story has always been one of the saddest stories in the business history. But on shining detail you can light toward his memory is that he managed, on this night, to give Taker one of his better fights against men around the same height as he. |

The classic case of the patriotic American versus the anti-American foreigner, the match had the potential to be good. We had seen the previous month Test and Brock Lesnar gave us an intense and entertaining hoss fight. Alas, this match is just adequate. There's not much to say about it, it just serves to pass the time between matches much better, and have a cheap pop because "Yay USA! " |
