It's a fine match but I don't think Quen does a single move that doesn't completely invalidate the ankle injury he and Cody spend so much time establishing. Quen starts off hot, Cody gets the cutoff and works the ankle through the break until Quen mounts a comeback. He comes off the top rope one too many times, Cody catches him in an ankle lock for the submission win. Between the opening sequence and the comeback, Quen comes across great in this as Cody gives him a lot. Cody gives another fine performance in the ring and as the mind behind the match layout. People talk a lot about Isiah Kassidy and I know Tony Khan thinks highly of him, but for me Quen is really superior. Always more qualitative and smarter in the way he works as his performance here showed as he knew how to mix his leg injury with his flippy stuff without it being messed up or overdone, and there's no question of non-selling here as he always emphasized his leg pain. Cody was a real big heel champion by working that leg perfectly, the ending with the Angle Lock is tremendous and so is Quen's selling. I probably liked it more than I should but I don't know, I think it ruled so much. |

Die Idee der Open Challenge ist nicht neu und trotzdem spült sie immer mal ein neues Gesicht kurzfristig in den Main Event. Alleine das ist richtig gut. |

Die Spots sitzen, ansonsten wird er halt von Cody geführt. Der hat eine passable Dringlichkeit am Mann und das Finish unterstreicht die Story. Aber: für diese Konstellation ist die Story doch eher Gift. Private Party war über Monate nicht relevant oder gar erfolgreich. Das erste Singles-Match dann in dieser Form? Ich nehme Quen schon nicht als Contender ernst und dann ist er noch so angeschlagen. Lahm. Quen hätte jeden noch so irren Spot versuchen müssen, um Cody zu zu besiegen, nun ist er aber hauptsache mit Selling und Mini-Comebacks beschäftigt und das war der Punkt, wo mich das Match verloren hat. Es war im Vorwege schon nicht realistisch und damit war jede Spannung weg. Das ist in Summe schon irgendwie okay, aber für mich nicht solide oder gar empfehlenswert. |

Das war kein Match mit extremer Tiefe aber ein unterhaltsames, mehr als anständiges, welches daher in meinen Augen 7 Punkte verdient. |
