[9.0] "This was a wild, bitter fight that was presented like a fight in the streets from the get-go. Both men hammered down each other physically and psychologically with their huge egos clashing and colliding all over the place. The rules being broken and Jon not going by the traditional Dojo route of lengthy matches is a great fresh breath in Japan as it rarely happens but won't miss if so. Moxley retaining makes sense as he had a very good reign here while Suzuki looked super strong even after losing. 4.25 out of 5 stars!"

[8.0] "Legit dream match, the king of pro wrestling vs. the king of the death match certainly didn't disappoint. It was a fusion of the walk n' brawl and strong style, with some comedy sprinkled throughout, that worked really well for me. What I love the most about this match is probably what some people disliked, just how over the top, borderline goofy it got; one minute they were having a duel with chairs and banging their heads against a piece of table and the next they were elbowing each other into oblivion. Even though he completely forgot about his eye injury, Mox sold his arm really well. The overall psychology was also awesome, just too charismatic madmen going at each other, especially Suzuki, who's become one of my favourite wrestling characters ever. Jon Moxley's NJPW matches are always such a welcome breath of fresh air, can't wait for his return. (* * * *)"

Moxley's arm being busted early in the match and trying to both fight through it and find a way around it was a lovely story. This was awesome stuff, a little heavy on the head trauma at times but all in all I loved it."

[9.0] "A hard hitting violent clash. Mox and Suzuki wanted nothing more than to hurt each other throughout the match. Red Shoes could barely control the match. It had everything that I wanted and expected from Moxley and Suzuki. Suzuki the better striker but Mox bigger and more resilient and played the match smarter than Suzuki. Suzuki seemed like he didn't even care about the win, just wanted to put Moxley through a lot of pain. Lots of nasty spots with chairs and tables. Lots of technical counters as well. Moxley continues to put The IWGP US Title on a big spotlight. Although I liked Robinson, let's faced it, Moxley is just a better and bigger Champion ( hype not size). Great match. Fun , enjoyable and just nasty. ****1/2"

Javichohervas wrote on 21.06.2020:
[9.0] "This was amazing. Two tough-as-nails motherf*ckers wanting to murder each other. I can't explain why this match captivated me so much at first (my initial rating was ****3/4) but I loved it a lot. Suzuki laughing at everything Moxley put him through, Mox just not caring, the aura of the match, the fight itself, the spots... Right now in my top 10 matches of 2020, maybe in the fight for the top 5, ****1/2."

The finish was pretty good, only gripe was it didn't really look like the regal knee connected at all. ****1/4"

[8.0] "The type of match very few could pull off. Teetered on a fine line between an engaging war and meaningless and corny violence, and overall stayed on the side of the former. Some could be put off by either the disregard or the rules or the showcase of respect coupled with the brutal violence, though I personally wasn't bothered by either. These two were trying to show themselves, their opponent and the audience that they could beat the shit out of each other better than the other, and also wanted to show that they could take a beating and still dish it out like the best of them. Definitely a product of the Japanese wrestling culture and the crazy style of these two. Wish I could give this match an 8. 5, but it was ever so slightly closer to and 8 to a 9. ****1/4"

This was an intense brawl, that not overstayed its due and mixed well the two wrestlers' skills. The last 5 minutes with Suzuki refusing to go down after being put through a table were really good. MiSu slapping the hell out of a young lion at ringside after the match was pure gold as well. ****"

[7.0] "While I have come to really enjoy Moxley since he left WWE, I also think that his style limits him so that **** is his ceiling. This match here with Suzuki was really good, but I can't say it compares to any of the truly legendary strong-style strikfests we've gotten from NJPW in the last 10 years. There were equal-parts crowd brawls, weapon trades, and strike exchanges in this match. The first half felt weirdly detached, as if both men were constantly lost as to what to do next or just simply unable to achieve the level of intensity and crowd investment that they were looking for. The match would always pick up whenever they abandoned the weapon usage and crowd brawling and instead opted to just smash each other with strikes. This was the only time that they achieved the level of intensity I was hoping for, but it sadly never lasted long enough for me to considered this match as being great overall. ***1/2"

[9.0] "This delivered as expected. This was more an American style brawl but it worked very well as a contrast to the rest of the card. My one criticism was this probaby should have been a no-DQ match since they needed to go out of their way for certain spots to not be a DQ. Otherwise this was an entertaining ass brawl! ****1/4"

Many great spots in the match, especially with the chair where Suzuki doesn't sell and just laugh like the crazy bastard he is. Both had great offense and the match ended with Mox getting the win as expexted. Good setup where ZSJ attacks Mox after the match, it could lead to an interesting match. ****1/2"

A wild brawl from the start to finish. I love how Misu still sold Mox's offenses yet still looked badass here. Mox's strike was still weak but it didn't take anything from the match. The match kicked to the next gear after the table spot. The only complaint was the chair shot. Still Excellent overall."

[5.0] "Both guys are favorites of mine and this was something of a dream match for me, but I found the whole thing to be silly more than anything. Suzuki smiling and laughing after taking a vicious chairshot to the head was a bit too much for me. I get that Minoru's whole shtick is that he's a crazy tough bastard, and I do think no-selling can be appropriate in certain situations, but this didn't feel right to me. Instead of giving off the "this is a war between two hard hitting bad asses" vibe, it came across as two guys play fighting. The argument can also be made that it makes Moxley's strikes look weak if the other guy is just going to laugh them off. Yes, I get what they were going for, and I realize that was certainly not the intent, but it can be interpreted that way."

[7.0] "Good match although probably not as good as it could've been. Fun fight with them brawling all over the place and making good use of them gimmicks in the chairs & the table. One slight negative was that I gotta say the way Moxley shrugged off most of Minoru's forearm strikes bothered me -- it was pretty much Minoru who was doing the big selling moments in those exchanges, and that felt a little weird & wrong considering how much more lethal his strikes look (& sound) compared to those of Moxley's."
ElPolloLoco wrote on 10.02.2020:
[6.0] "The match started off rather underwhelming but then picked up pace and became moderately enjoyable. It would have been better with a different stipulation and in a different setting but it's till not a stinker. And one extra point for Suzuki's creepy smile after being thrown through a table. That is the stuff nightmares are made off."

[10.0] "When Moxley came to New Japan and entered the G1, Moxley vs Suzuki, one of my favourite wrestlers of all time, was high on my list of expectations. Criminally Suzuki was not in the G1. So of course post Wrestle Kingdom defence, you could imagine my excitement was pretty damn high, combined with some excellent back and fourth build from the two. Thankfully this match absolutely delivered, with an intense brawl that felt different from the recent efforts of Moxley, Jericho, Archer etc due to the story of the match being about a clash of mad personalities rather than a thuggish fight. Great, even painful looking spots and both men look strong coming out of it. Proof New Japan can also deliver on high calibre matches without high flying or technical masterclasses."

[4.0] "Yeah, that wasn`t good. I`m not a fan of Jon Moxley, but his G1 run was decent, I loved his matches with Ishii, Takagi, Naito and other were also good (for the most part). I can`t say, that his other performances were any good or memarable, but I still was a little hyped for Mox vs. Suzuki, but... In the end they just showed us... a bit of slow underwhelming brawling. For the most part the fight was just slow and super boring. The only thing, that I kinda enjoyded is Minoru`s reaction in the last sequence, nothing alse stand out for me. **3/4"

Sebastian V wrote on 09.02.2020:

The walk and brawl at the start was your standard stuff and I really didn't care for Suzuki's facial expressions, nor Moxley's at the end. It was really hammy. The middle portion with Suzuki attacking the arm of Moxley and pounding him with elbows was good. Moxley sold the arm as well and held his own. ***1/2"

I do believe that as of now, Moxley was managed to create a series of interesting rivalries in NJPW, with Ishii, Robinson and now Suzuki, rivalries which I believe can only grow. Great performance from both in this brawl"
