I won't deny that the gimmick of Brock just throwing everyone out after ten seconds got old pretty fast, especially when some of the greatest wrestling talents of the generation like Cesaro and Nakamura were unceremoniously treated like jobbers. Then Drew came in, threw Brock out, and set up the title match for Mania. Fine enough, I guess, but the sour taste lingers in your mouth and I was about ready to turn the TV off and go to bed. And then "you think you know me". I'm giving this match one point for every word in that glorious intro that turned around that was, to that point, one of the least enjoyable Rumbles of some time. Man, I could watch Edge walk through the dry ice overwhelmed with emotion for ages. After that, it was actually pretty good! But as much as I loved Edge's return, and as much as the Rumble is the best place for it, it regrettably does not a 10/10 match make."

[7.0] "Overrated Rumble match, but still a good one looking back. On the one hand, the first half of this match, in my opinion, was overrated. Brock Lesnar? s dominant phase was different and creative, Ill give them that, and helped to build him up as a threat, but then come the problems: 1) It slowed the match down too much. Again, this whole angle took up HALF of the Royal Rumble match and it was too boring just seeing Brock toss people over, wait 60 seconds, wash rinse repeat. 2) The amount of talent they fed to him. Of those 13 eliminations, people like Cesaro, Erick Rowan, John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kofi Kingston and even Braun goddamn Strowman were wasted away as if they were jobbers, which is why over 50% of the entrants in this match lasted less than a minute each. 3) It went on for WAY too long. It would? ve been fine for Brock to chew up and spit out the first 3 or 4 entrants, but this schtick took up half of the Royal Rumble match, where this moment didn? t feel like a Royal Rumble match, rather being a gauntlet match with one guy standing in the ring for 20 minutes. This essentially leaves us with a 25 minute, 15-man Royal Rumble after a 15-man gauntlet. However, there were a few good things about this, such as Brock? s moment with Shelton Benjamin, the return of MVP and his dream encounters with Cesaro, Nakamura and most notably, NXT? s Keith Lee, in a fantastic showing. It was also very satisfying to see Drew McIntyre finally kick Brock out after 30 agonising minutes. On the other hand, the second half of the Rumble was excellent. It had many awesome moments, including the return of EDGE, and the right man won the Rumble match. Overall, this consisted of a mostly-boring gauntlet match followed by a great Royal Rumble match with some excellent storytelling about the tale of Drew McIntyre? s epic victory, so this was acceptable for me, even if I don? t think it? s as great as most people say it is. Hopefully this is the only time they do it. (***1/2)"

Der Rest des Matches war leider auch nicht besonders, schon wieder Orton, Reigns, Rollins und Edge die wie bei so vielen Rumbles im Fokus sind. Ein paar Momente wie mit McIntyre sind ganz nett, aber eigentlich hab ich komplett das Interesse im Rumble verloren. Also muss ich 0 Punkte geben, da selbst die paar netten Szenen mich einfach nicht mehr interessiert haben."
"One of the better Rumbles for sure. Seeing Lesnar eliminate 13 in a row reminded me of when Diesel did a similar thing in the mid-90s, although he eliminated fewer opponents. It was a cool way to change things up instead of the usual crowd in the ring in the middle of the match all doing holds in the corner up against the turnbuckle. After Lesnar got eliminated - in a funny fashion with the low blow - I thought the pace was really good after that. I found Randy Orton's facial expressions pretty funny during this match. The ending was good as no one wanted to see Reigns win again, McIntyre I think eliminated the second most after Lesnar so deserved to win. Really good as Rumbles go, possibly one of the best since the Flair win in the early 90s."
[9.0] "Opinions are opinions but the minority who say the Lesnar half of this match is bad are beyond belief. I can't fathom these people at all. The Brock half is one of the best things the company has ever done. His visual sell for seeing then NXT superstar Keith Lee for the first time was a wonderful moment that made Lee feel big-time, as was him chasing down Elias at the beginning, dancing to MVP's theme, the little smiles as new opponents approached and the best cut-off offense in the history of the business. My eyes were glued to the screen and this was my second viewing. Half the people he destroyed were curtain jerkers/lower-midcard at the highest and were rightfully dealt with instantaneously by Box Office Brock. The ones higher up the card such as Kofi, Mysterio, Keith Lee & Nakamura were briefly sold for in the exhilarating manner that only Brock can do - Brock is secretly one of wrestling's greatest sellers when the moment calls for it, it fucking MATTERS because not everybody is worthy of it and even those who are worthy might not get it every time out. The only one I felt was a little hard done by was Cesaro, as that pairing has dream match potential - it did get the fans booing louder however when Cesaro was swiftly thrown out. I wish the Brock portion could have lasted longer, although he did look exhausted shortly before his elimination - he'd had quite the workout that night. McIntyre eliminating Brock MEANT something because of the first half of this match, and he felt like a worthy winner because of it, and somebody who'd never had a World title match before felt like a made man in an instant. It would not feel the same if Lesnar came out at #27 and McIntyre eliminated him in two minutes, this was so perfectly set up - a real chef's kiss. Brock haters, I truly don't understand why you watch wrestling. It was just a shame though, because as soon as the pop for McIntyre eliminating Brock had finished, the heat drained from the match in record time and didn't pick up again until Edge returned. Before Edge came out you had Karl Anderson working over Ziggler in the corner - talk about a comedown. Just a good Rumble at this point with a nice finishing stretch, loved the Orton/Edge stuff etc., but that first half was all-timer stuff."

But in 2020, Drew finally got that chance by winning the Rumble in an amazing match that saw even the miracolous return of Edge as a wrestler. Lesnar was the only bad thing about the match, but not because he dominated. But only because they had to make him eliminate one more guy. When he got the record I immediately said "Okay, he either wins or someone tosses him out right now". I was kinda wrong because Ricochet didn't toss him out, but Drew came immediately after and he threw Brock out. But what a pop"

The rest of the way is pretty good with the rated rko reunion, and Drew getting his big win at the end.****1/4"

There aren't any fun superstar returns aside from Edge, but his is probably the biggest in rumble history, so you gotta take what you can get (MVP). Commentary is a step below not bad, the good thing about it is it's easy to ignore which is to say they did a great job for what those guys can do. Cole mentions video game matchups which really describes this entire match's style. Lots of fun, hard to find complaints, but for some reason is missing something making it a really great rumble. If you're an Edge or Drew fan, it's must-see."

Cesaro was eliminated very quick which was disappointing. i wish they made him look a little stronger here. i always wanted to see a Cesaro WWE push. McIntyre coming out at 16 got a nice little pop. the Lesnar elimination got a MASSIVE pop from the crowd. this spot alone made Drew the top star. the elimination happened a lot quicker than I expected but it was perfect. Ricochet hit a low blow. McIntyre hit the Claymore. Lesnar tumbled like a million bucks. and edge came back. holy fuck. it's only been 2 years but that moment is already nostalgic. it was a beautiful sight to see. the storytelling in this match was just amazing."

It was 26 minutes of him just slinging people over. The bit at the end with Seth, Randy, Roman, Edge, and Drew was good. Not good enough to make up for the laziness of the beginning."

[9.0] "This was a miraculous Rumble that gave shades of 2018 when almost everyone rooted for one single person who had a meteoric rise in the roster and won people's hearts heading to the event. Drew's story of resurfacing his WWE career is one of the best happenings in the pro wrestling world. The moment he was released, he didn't stop grinding and went on to rule the independent scene as Drew Galloway, re-entered WWE as a NXT superstar and dominated there too then finally returning to WWE as a slow, rising monster to a great WWE champion. Not only Drew's performance was the focal point here, it was Brock's sheer dominance in the first half with great story told in the entries mostly who were past enemies & related to The Beast's run as a wrestler. After Drew eliminated Brock, the second session got a bit cold which was meaningful after the red-hot showing by Brock. Edge's inevitable return set things right for a masterful third session with two different dynamics traveling very well until Edge's elimination leading up to the undeniable McIntyre's reach to the top. Had one of my favorite entries in Keith Lee sustained a bit more & created a cool moment with Brock apart from the stare-down, it could've been my personal favorite Rumble moment. But, nothing to be ashamed of for Keith as he had a fantastic year in 2019 as well as 2020. 4.5 out of 5 stars!"

Brock chucking the first few guys like nothing was shocking, and the sequence with Big E, Kofi, and Mysterio was fantastic given their history with Brock. Benjamin and Brock teasing an alliance was a fun callback to their off screen friendship. MVP returning was a cool surprise. Keith Lee had a great moment with Brock that came to an end much too soon. McIntyre eliminating Lesnar was a great moment that also lead to a brief program between Ricochet and Lesnar. After that it was pretty standard Rumble affair until Edge makes his shocking return. He looked awesome and created a moment that I will remember forever. His interactions with Orton were a lot of fun too. Drew winning by eliminating Reigns last made him loom incredibly strong and they made a great choice by having Reigns absorb the heat of Edge being eliminated instead of McIntyre. Just a great match with great booking. [****1/4]"

Mir persönlich hat die erste Phase mit Lesnar bis zu seiner Eliminierung gefallen. So eine Dominanz hat man noch nie bei einem Rumble Match gesehen und es hat Spaß gemacht zu sehen, wer als nächstes ran darf gegen das Biest. Die Eliminierung jedoch hat mir nicht so sehr gefallen. Wieso lässt man Drew nicht einfach Lesnar rauswerfen ohne, dass Ricochet mit einem Low blow helfen muss. Hier hat man das Booking am Ende ein bisschen verkackt, aber die Reaktionen vom Publikum liesen erahnen, dass man trotzdem alles richtig gemacht hat. Danach wurde der Rumble etwas hektischer und es kam ein Contender nach dem anderen. Highlight des Matches neben der Eliminierung von Lesnar war natürlich der Return von Edge. Unglaublicher Moment, auch wenn ich sehr überrascht darüber war, dass er einer der letzten des Matches sein durfte. Das Ende fand ich hier um einiges besser als im Frauen-Match und Drew als Sieger war hier die vollkommen richtige Wahl. **** (13)"
[9.0] "Brock chumping the first 4 guys was a good start, and the Kofi/Rey/Big E sequence against Brock was fucking awesome too since Kofi & Rey both have reasons to go after Brock. The fakeout with Shelton was cute too, but I kinda wish he betrayed him later on. It's just okay from there on until Keith lee hits the ring and gets a great little moment, but then Brock gets him and BRAUN out at once in a bit of meh moment. Everything mediocre is made up for with the Drew entrance and elimination after Ricochet got revenge; half the match was designed to elicit that pop and it was great. Drew just staring lasers at Brock while dominating in a similar fashion is fucking godlike. The match starts to become a normal Rumble, but then Edge's music hits and the crowd loses their minds. Edge's return is so fucking good, and he has a strong performance into the final 3 that helps keep the Rumble interesting, especially the Rated RKO reunion. Regular Rumble stuff continues again until Seth shows up with backup and I really love how they messed with the formula again and had Seth cheat via his group only to have the guys he screwed brawl on the outside and neutralize that. Seth getting stared down all the way through the final Claymore was rock-solid final Rumble moments stuff. Drew wasn't the focus of the match the whole time, but between eliminating Brock and winning the whole thing he really was the star here, even in spite of Edge's return. I really loved how this match really messed with the format of the Rumble and was designed to set up Brock vs Drew from start to finish. Fantastic stuff even if it was at the expense of some good talents doing very little but bump a couple times. ****1/4+"

If it's possible to rate a match of this kind, I would go 5 stars and 10 out of 10."

True, the classical Royal-Rumble-match sensation of having multiple men in the ring was heavily diminished by Brock Lesnar's dominance during the first half, but it was compensated by the emotions evoked. That was because, precisely, the focus centered on eliminating Lesnar: New Day's alliance with Mysterio, the appearance of both Keith Lee and Braun Strowman, and Lesnar's downfall to Ricochet and McIntyre generated very good moments. Not to mention MVP's return, Edge's return, and McIntyre winning. This could be my favorite Royal Rumble and that is thanks to how different it seems from the rest."

Ansonsten ist das dann im Ring echt sehenswert, es wird noch die ein oder ander Story aufgegriffen (z. B. Rollins) und die Schlussphase geht ebenfalls klar so. McIntyre ist die richtige Wahl und man ist auf den Showdown mit Lesnar gespannt. Ein aus meiner Sicht echt unterhaltsames Rumble Match - 8 Punkte."

We got moments like Keith Lee's rise and the return of Edge and MVP, but none drew more of a pop than Drew McIntyre finally getting the elimination, going on to win, and cementing himself as a Top Guy. 2020 was the Year of Drew, and we just didn't know it yet. Almost everyone won from this Rumble, including the fans."
[1.0] "This match can thank the 2015 rumble for existing, making this not the most stupidly booked Rumble of all time. Close second though. I hate that match. It methodically kills anything that has any potential to be exciting on the spot. When it begins you think "ok, we'll see challenger after challenger try and knock Lesnar, but fail, that can be fun"... until you realize that no, they don't let them try. They come, get dealt like crap, and repeat. It was already stale the third time, and then it happened, consecutively, to Kingston and Morrison, nullifying the chance for any of them to do a cool Rumble spot. They waste Big E, when Lesnar was the perfect guy to make him shine against. You know something is seriously fucked up in the match when the prospect of a Lesnar/Nakamura confrontation isn't exciting... and it wasn't. By that time the match was already dead to me, but it was just getting started. MVP's return is nothing. Keith Lee starts to get a moment, joined in by Strowman... and it ends in the blink of an eye. By that time I had lost the ability to get excited about anything, but for those who still thought they might see something cool, I feel sorry for you. Finally McIntyre arrives, finally the moment that it was all leading up to... and I couldn't have cared less. Now the match had the potential to get interesting, but damn did it have an uphill battle to do so. And the scary thing is : even in that second part which is far better than the first, everything is STILL wasted opportunities. So many important or hyped guys get discarded in completely generic ways : Styles, Riddle, Corbin, Rollins... Edge gets his big return ( that didn't hit me as hard as it should have, or as I feel it when I see the recaps of it outside of the context of the match, one more reason for me to hate this match ), does a couple of Spears, his little thing with Orton... and apart from that, gets completely lost in the shuffle and doesn't do anything special."
[10.0] "What a great booking ! Lesnar's domination impressed me at the beginning, then McIntyre eliminating him was not even the biggest moment of this Rumble because of ... THE RETURN OF EDGE. Then in one of the biggest pop in WWE history Drew McIntyre F******* eliminated Brock Lesnar. It slowed down quite a bit but That wasn't all as EDGE returned to one of the biggest pop in history. The ending stretch was so great. The best Rumble match maybe in the past decade. ****1/2"

The domination of Brock Lesnar was very funny and makes you even more expect who's next to get into the ring and who could finally eliminate him. Low blow from Ricochet is a very good way to protect Brock and makes his elimination reasonable. The return of Edge and his feud with Randy has a good start in this match. And Drew showed his uncommon strength by winning the match. This year is absolutely Drew year. Finally, how many times has Reigns become the runner-up of the royal rumble? (****)"

On top of this, we get a first time winner who would go on to win the WWE championship at Wrestlemania. The only downside was that COVID-19 robbed hat match of the huge pop it would have deserved. Again, fantastic rumble, one of the very best"

[5.0] "An ok Rumble, I really dislike both Brock and Drew so I knew this was going to be a hard sell for me and honestly it was better than I expected. Brock being in the match at all was confusing, and while I appreciate the goal of booking him so dominantly, it did feel like a lot of very talented people got sacrificed for not much reason. I enjoyed the second half more, though there was a lot of focus on guys I'm not very invested in. Love the look on Edge's face as he came out though, I'm not sold on his comeback but obviously it meant everything to him to be there."
[9.0] "I LOVED this Rumble match. I understand that not many are fond of the first half, with Lesnar eliminating guys one-by-one but I personally loved it and could have watched another 30 minutes of it. There is just something believable and real about Lesnar that is lacking otherwise in WWE presentation. This was all a buildup to Drew McIntyre eliminating Lesnar and blowing the roof off the place. Simply put, I did not care about Drew coming into this match and instantaneously, with one Claymore kick I was sold. That is the beauty of what Lesnar does. He creates real emotions. Unfortunately, that Wrestlemania match did not happen the way it should have, which is a shame. After the Lesnar elimination, the match really drags, until the big moment when Edge returns. Honestly, I would have shortened that gap between the two, and not given the crowd a chance to settle down. It is a little thing but I really think that moment could have been even greater had the crowd already been at their peek. Great finish to the match too. I was still not sure where they were going and really kept me guessing. A near-perfect Royal Rumble Match."
[5.0] "I didn't like that Brock Lesnar squashed almost half of the roster. Also, I found Drew McIntyre very boring. Edge's return was the most beautiful part of match. Also I liked Seth Rollins heelish work."
[7.0] "It was a weird one. Second half was really fun and I enjoyed it a lot, hence the rating. Lesnar dominating made sence and I was ready for it. But ffs why did he had to eliminate half of the Rumble and in that group of guys were people like John Morrison (really shows their plans for him after returning), the IC champ (whether you like Nakamura or not, you dont treat your champion like that), returning MVP (I wouldn't mind him getting eliminated after 5 minutes, but he lasted 20 seconds and didn't show any of his moves) and the most pushed NXT star at the moment (not saying Keith should eliminate Lesnar, he could've just last a lot longer). Also - why everyone seeing that 3 men were no challenge to Brock still get to the ring to fight him one-on-one? But yeah, from the #16 buzzer till the end, very fun match. I'd say a 1 for the first half and a 9 for the second half."
[9.0] "I always love the Rumble even though they're never the best match but this one actually might be my favourite. The first half I was so angry, thinking this was an awful Vince trying to keep Brock is the guy. Then Drew happened. I marked out so much for the Brock elimination. They built it all so well. Really fantastic stuff. MVP and Edge was very fun. It felt like everyone in the 2nd half really put a good shift in. The ending with Drew was a thing of beauty too. This is now my favourite Rumble ahead of 92 and 07."

Danach nimmt das Rumble-Match einen typischeren Verlauf. Es kommt aber ohne die ansonsten oft allzu lahmen Phasen aus, in denen einfach nur der überfüllte Ring zu bestaunen ist. Stattdessen gibt es mit der Rückkehr von Edge noch ein absolutes Highlight - und am Ende einen ausgesprochen klug gewählten Sieger, der spätestens ab der Lesnar-Eliminierung bei der Crowd unfassbar over ist. An diesem Rumble werden sich die künftigen Auflagen messen lassen müssen."

They tried to avoid reusing the same old spots that we see every year. Also, even if there weren't that many surprise entrants, the return of Edge was all we needed. And it all ended with great hype and crowd reaction. One of the best if not the best Royal Rumble match I've seen yet."

Despite a few wasted entrants and some dead air time in between Brock? s Elimination and Edge? s return, this match was remarkably paced for its two very distinct halves. Lesnar? s decimation of the roster infuriated me at first, and while there are some names (Nakamura, Cesaro, Morrison) who I do wish didn? t have to be sacrificed to make Brock look good, the two major ? Hope spots? , the first being the Kofi/Rey/E team up and the second being Keith Lee? s entrance were incredible well placed in the match. The decimation made Drew? s ? HOLY SHIT? elimination of Brock and his eventual victory to mean all the more in the long run. Top that off with Edge? s electrifying return, and more excellent use of other major players (except for Matt Riddle) And this is multi man mayhem done right."

Brock was great in being the dominant monster that seemed unbeatable, and his elimination came about in a manner that, in rarity for WWE, saw previous angles get paid off. And once Brock was gone, things became fresh because the story had changed."

Wenn man drauf steht ok ich nicht passt aber zur Darstellung von Lesnar ok ! Von McIntyre halte ich nicht viel aber macht nach seinem Aufbau als Sieger Sinn ! Highlight das Comeback von Edge ... da kommen tolle Erinnerungen aber das Match gegen Orton braucht man im Jahr 2020 leider nicht mehr ... Alles in allem sehr langweilig da einfach zu viele zu schnell eliminiert werden und das nicht wirklich den Rumble wiederspiegeln sollte ... Langweiliges Ding ! 3 Punkte !"

Dazu war Drew nach dem Ausscheiden von Lesnar mehr als offensichtlich und eigentlich hätte es den Sieg auch nicht benötigt. Durch den Rauswurf von Lesnar hatte man genug Zündstoff."

Als sich der Ring schließlich füllte wurde es spannend, da unter den letzten 8 verbliebenen Superstars wirklich jeder das Potenzial hatte das Match zu gewinnen. Schlussendlich hatte man mit Drew McIntyre einen verdienten Sieger gefunden und die Rückkehr des Rated R Superstars war ein schöner Gänsehaut Moment."

[4.0] "I hated the Lesnar-fest at the outset of the Men's rumble, as it made a large portion of their roster look incredibly weak. We already get that Brock is strong, you don't need to build that up more than it already has been, especially at the cost of so many wrestlers, including one of your current champions. Nothing happened after that which got me re-invested in the match at all until it was down to the last few people. At that point, it was more about me rooting against Roman Reigns, than rooting for anyone still left in the ring. At least the ending was good and I was happy with the overall result."

Dass er fast die Hälfte aller Teilnehmer eliminiert, war mir zu viel, auch wenn es nicht langweilig war. Man hatte immer mal wieder ein paar nette Sequenzen, z. B. mit New Day/Mysterio, Strowman/Keith Lee und Drew McIntyre, der schon durch die Eliminierung von Lesnar gepusht wurde. Lesnars Blick als Keith Lee zum Ring kommt war zudem ganz große Klasse. Schade ist aber, dass man Lesnar viele Wrestler nur Fraß vorgeworfen hat, Cesaro, John Morrison, Roode, Nakamura hätten allesamt einen besseren Spot verdient. Gleiches gilt für Matt Riddle, der ebenfalls keinen guten Spot bekommen hat. Ansonsten hat gibt es mit Edge noch einen tollen Moment und mit MVP eine nette Überraschung. Was man ebenfalls gut gemacht hat, dass die Main Eventer/Uppercarder größtenteils zum Ende im Ring waren, wodurch man Spannung erzeugen konnte, obwohl eigentlich nur Reigns und McIntyre als Sieger in Frage kamen. Mit dem Sieger bin ich ebenfalls einverstanden und endlich traut man sich mal wieder was."
[9.0] "Best Royal Rumble since 2010! And now that I think about it, that match also had a surprise appearance from Edge. Really enjoyed the beginning with Brock. Lesnar showed so much character in this match. He gets annoyed by Elias' stupid shit, protects Heyman from MVP, acknowledges his friendship with Shelton Benjamin and puts over Keith Lee nicely. His eventual elimination with Ricochet getting a revenge nut shot before Drew eliminated him was great stuff. And as if Drew eliminating Lesnar wasn't enough, WWE goes all in and has him win the dang thing too. The rest of the match was good rumble action as well, the pace never slowed and the booking was well thought out. Edge's return was amazing and so was his reunion with Orton, loved how he got to be the ultimate opportunist again when he turned on Orton and eliminated him. Seth coming out at number 30 and using his goons to eliminate a bunch of RAW's babyfaces was also smart booking that looked towards the future. Can't wait for McIntyre vs. Lesnar, seriously my most anticipated WrestleMania world title match since WM 30. ****1/4"
[10.0] "What a Royal Rumble to kick off the 20's with! This was fantastic. Lesnar's domination over the start off the Rumble was fun to watch, and none of the guys he eliminates look bad (after all, it's Brock Lesnar they're being beaten by). Keith Lee got a chance to look really good, along with many others. Eventually, it was the red-hot Drew McIntyre to eliminate Lesnar. More on him later. Edge returning was an absolutely surreal moment, and even better was the fact that he put on a great performance, proving that he can definitely still go. Loved the temporary Rated RKO reunion! I really thought Roman was winning after he eliminated Edge, but what do you know, WWE finally pulled the plug on McIntyre and gave him the biggest win of his career yet. McIntyre put on a hell of a performance in this match, and more importantly, he had the crowd behind him entirely, which is something he had struggled with before. This was a great Royal Rumble that made nearly everyone in it look good, and it also set up a lot of interesting potential feuds for 2020. Hope we will get more Rumbles like this in the 20s. ****1/2 (but the wrestling fan in me has to rate it 10/10 for Edge's return)"
[2.0] "They lost me in the first half of the match, and nothing done in the second half was going to get me re-invested. Watching the first half of the rumble play out as an over-the-top gauntlet match killed any and all excitement for the event. Obviously the intent was to build to a big pop for Drew, and in that regard they accomplished what they set out to do. But doing so at the expense of a large portion of the roster, and making it clear that in no way, shape, or form can they hang with the top tier of talent was a steep price. The attempt to make a new star and Edge's return will be enough for some. At the very least, they did try something new with this rumble. But for me it rang hollow, and completely killed any excitement I had for the event."
[6.0] "It was okay. It's the Royal Rumble, it makes for good background noise, worst case scenario. It was an interesting experiment to see Brock dominate the first half, not sure I want a repeat though. Edge's return was very cool and Galloway is an excellent choice to both eliminate Brock and win."
[9.0] "I thought that this was a really good Royal Rumble, it started with Brock Lesnar annihilating everyone who stood in his way. Having McIntyre eliminating him was a good way to start their feud heading to WrestleMania. Edge's return was just incredible. Keep in mind, he hadn't wrestled close for a decade, and he hadn't missed a step. I'm happy that McIntyre won the rumble, WWE need to build new stars, and McIntyre could do very well as the WWE Champion. It wasn't the typical rumble, but it was a very good one. ****"
[5.0] "Ein sehr mittelmäßiges Rumble Match. Der Anfang war sehr unterhaltsam mit Brock Lesnar und sein dominantes Showing hat noch spaß gemacht. Spätestens bei John Morrison war der Spaß aber dann vorbei. Ihn zwei wochen vor dem Rumble anzukündigen ist ja schon schlimm genug, aber dann auch noch sowas abzuziehen grenzt an einer Frechheit. Seine letzten paar Underdog Gegner Kofi und Rey bekommen freilich auch nicht die längst ausstehende Rache. Wofür wurde Rowan eigentlich gepusht? Der Shelton Benjamin Spot war cool. Bei Nakamura war ich dann aber endgültig pissed. So kann man nicht den IC Champion darstellen, tut mir leid. Dagegen war selbst die Farce im Tokyo Dome 2006 gegen Lesnar ein überpush für Nakamura. So geht man einfach nicht mit seinem Roster um. Nakamura, Cesaro, Bobby Roode, John Morrison, Keith Lee von mir aus auch Braun Strowman könnten Main Eventer sein, hier werden sie absolut lächerlich dargestellt. Ricochet verhilft Drew McIntyre dann aber letztendlich dabei Lesnar zu eliminieren war trotz alledem ein toller Spot war. Edge war natürlich ein weiterer großer Name und mich hat es sehr gefreut ihn hier zu sehen und auch in so guter Verfassung. Die Quasi Reunion von Rated RKO war auch sehr cool, aber ich will das Match nicht sehen falls es darauf hinausläuft. Edge gegen AJ Styles, Seth Rollins oder Daniel Bryan wären dagegen Dreammatches. Am Ende wurden die Teilnehmer immer besser mit Owens und Joe, die leider beide viel zu schwach dargestellt wurden obwohl beide den ME Push so verdient hätten. Seth Rollins auf der 30 war sehr gut, doch sein Showing eher weniger. am Ende bleiben dann Drew und wie immer die letzten nun schon 6 Jahre Roman Reigns. Warum konnte nicht Seth Rollins diesen Spot bekommen? Drew als Sieger ist gut und das Match mit Lesnar ebenfalls, doch viel kam bei diesem Match nicht rum an neuen Fehden. Der Anfang war einfach zu schwach und das Ende auch nicht befriedigend. Insgesamt nicht schlech aber lange nicht gut."
[4.0] "Die Main-Roster-Shows der WWE sind ganz offenbar nicht mehr für mich gemacht. Die Dramaturgie dieses Matches war super und einige Spots wirklich gut, aber ein Match bei dem erst ewig Brock Lesnar quasi alleine im Ring steht und ich später noch Baron Corbin und Randy Orton ertragen muss, kann mir einfach nicht gefallen. Ich habe das Match nicht mal bis zum Ende geguckt und nebenbei Hausarbeit gemacht. Einen Punkt gibt es für Keith Lee, einen weiteren für die Sequenz mit Kofi Kingston, Big E und Rey Mysterio. Und weil ich fair bin, verdoppel ich das dann nochmal. So ein gutes Roster. So tolle Leute im Match (Matt Riddle, Ricochet, Cesaro, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, etc. ) und eigentlich auch ein guter und richtiger Sieger. Aber der wird dann halt gegen Brock Lesnar antreten und das will ich auch nicht sehen. Ich will Lesnar, Orton und in der heutigen Form auch Corbin überhaupt nie wieder sehen. Genauso wie ich keine Hochzeiten, Trennungen und Hundefuttergeschichten sehen will. Also bin ich hier wohl einfach falsch. Und das finde ich schade, weil der Rumble immer mein Lieblings-PPV war..."
[9.0] "Ich weiß, dass der Anfang des Matches mit Lesnars Dominierungsphase durchaus umstritten ist, kann es jedoch nachvollziehen, dass so zu lösen. So wie man Lesnar dargestellt hat in den letzten Jahren wäre es unglaubwürdig, ihn nicht auch hier stark darzustellen, dass allerdings gegen Ende zu machen sodass er den Sieg holt wäre auch nicht gut. Auf diese Weise hat man McIntyre einen großen Moment gegeben und ihn dann auch zum logischen Sieger gemacht. Ansonsten war natürlich Edges Comeback richtig gut und ich fand auch das die letzten 5 richtig gut gebooked waren. Es gab zwar wenige Überraschungsentries aber die, die es gab, waren gut. Zudem hat man nicht den Fehler gemacht, Reigns siegen zu lassen und auch nicht, ihn als 30 rauskommen zu lassen. Da hat man mit Rollins für mich den richtigen hingesetzt. Insgesamt in meinen Augen ein sehr gutes und das in meinen Augen beste Rumble Match seit längerer Zeit, sodass ich 9 Punkte für angemessen halte."
[6.0] "Die (zugegebenermaßen) nicht wenigen coolen Momente können nicht darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass das Booking hier an zu vielen Stellen grauenvoll war. Potentielle Stars wie Lee(! 1! ), Morrison(! ), Riddle(! ) verbraten, um Lesnar wieder mal als Mega-Beast darzustellen. Über 20 Min Lesnar-Show - und das nur für den einen Moment für Drew. Rollins, der Top-Heel der Top-Show sieht aus wie ein Hampelmann, Joe, Owens geht es auch nicht viel besser. Hier wäre an sich so viel drin gewesen, wenn man nicht alles mit dem typischen WWE-Unsinn vermengt hätte. Die involvierten Wrestler haben trotz viel BS noch viel retten können, das Edge-Comeback und alles, was sich daraus entwickelt hat (geteaste AJ-Fehde, Rated-RKO-Reunion), helfen noch auf eine Gesamtnote von 6 Punkten für mich."
[7.0] "Well, this was a rollercoaster, half of the match was Lesnar eliminating everyone, which obviously doesn't give any surprise to the match. He had some good sequences, like that with Misterio Big E and Kofi, but another no senses, how do you bring back MVP and he doesn't even last at least one minute in the ring. Later it went better with entrys of Keith Lee and Strowman, but for the mother of god, how do you make eliminate them so quickly after that reaction from the crowd, Later it went better with Mcintyre taking the place of Lesnar, and that amazing return of Edge. The final sequence also pretty good, and great choosing of the winner. It could be a best match with some major changes, but overall, has been the best royal rumble match since at least five years"
"Apart from a few moments, Brock Lesnar's 20-minute long dominance from the start is a chore to get through, letting everyone know that this time, it's Vince's rumble. Apparently Brock's run was great because of how he sold the Claymore for 2 minutes. People... he was gassed and if collapsing when hitting a backbreaker on Ricochet didn't tell you that already, nothing will. I guess you're fine with him burying half the entrants so long as it made one other guy look REALLY strong. The 2nd part also lost a lot of steam once Lesnar left ringside. Edge returning was cool and there's a few matches that appear to be setting up for Mania. Shocked at who won, even though I was hopeful he would do it. Half a dozen of the names that were already declared for the match got pulled lmao."
[10.0] "This was the best Royal Rumble match in a few years. I was worried about Brock Lesnar starting at #1. It was different and really worked. Good storytelling throughout. Edge returning had me going nuts. The main reason why I think this was a 10/10 is because it built Drew McIntyre perfectly. I don't watch RAW or Smackdown and this had me rooting for him. When he won I was very excited and will now probably watch the build up to WrestleMania. I know the WWE gets criticized for not building talent correctly, and rightfully so, but here they have a chance to build a superstar."
[9.0] "In my opinion, this was probably the best royal rumble match in the last few years. The unusual building of the match, the epic elimination of Brock Lesnar, the return of Edge and the victory of Drew McIntyre. That was amazing. ****1/2"
[9.0] "That was an awesome royal rumble. The beginning with Brock wasn't great, but it was worth it to see Drew eliminate him. Edge returning was amazing and Drew Mcintyre winning was a very good choice."
[7.0] "A great second half hurt by the awful first half. This is not the first time they've done a lone beast to start a rumble, but this was the worst example of it. It built to Drew getting the big pop, but I felt they had established that pop by the time Kofi, Big E, and Rey were eliminated, then it just dragged way too long. And to have none of those guys even really get much, if any offense in? It's justway too hard a 20 minutes to sit through. However, the back half was great and Drew winning was awesome. Hopefully it pays off with a star making run to Mania ***3/4"

Erst die Entsorgung des Fallobst und das Umgehen einer weiteren langen Gerangelanfangsphase, dann der Monsterpop für Drew, gefolgt vom zweiten Megapop für Edge, über etwas Übergangsaction mit möglichem Aufbau für Edge gg. Styles (bitte) und etwas Heel Heat für Corbin. Danach noch die nostalische Rated RKO Reunion, der Auftritt des Monday Night Messiah (mit auch von der Story her logischen Screwjobs) und eine schöne Finishphase mit dem fälligen Sieg für McIntyre (YES! ). Da hat man vieles richtig gemacht und eine schönes Paket abgeliefert (****1/4)."
[2.0] "Der zweite Teil des Rumbles war prinzipiell ganz gut, leider hatte ich dank des ersten Teils jegliches Interesse an dem Match verloren. Über zwanzig Minuten lang passiert praktisch nichts relevantes, außer dass man einen guten Worker und mittelgroßen Namen nach dem anderen von Lesnar wegsquashen lässt. Meistens weil die (bis auf eine Ausnahme) zu dämlich sind, einfach zusammenzuarbeiten. Also wieder schön den halben Roster wie Idioten aussehen lassen, weil Lesnar natürlich unbedingt den Push noch braucht. Und auch nach der Lesnar-Show war nicht alles automatisch großartig, nur weil Edge zurück kam. Corbin schmeißt den energischen Riddle in Zeitlupe raus, damit einer der größten potenziellen Stars beim ersten Mal auf der großen Bühne auch richtig dumm aussieht. Der "Monday Night Messiah" Rollins und eigentliche Top-Heel von Raw wird von den Faces in der Mitte gemobbt wie ein riesiger Loser und so weiter. Wenigstens der Sieger ist vollkommen verdient und endlich mal ein frisches Gesicht. Aber wahrscheinlich findet Vince auch da einen weg für dämliches Booking."
[4.0] "When you sacrifice half a match to get over a 40+-year-old Part-Time Worker whose already a multiple-time world champion, that's not great booking. The first half of this match was terrible but the second half was entertaining and the return of Edge was a cool moment. This was a match that I felt like the hardcore WWE fans really liked but that most wrestling fans just see as average. The first half was a boring mess but overall it was just kind of a meh match with nothing significant happening other than Edge's return."
[8.0] "Nach langem mal wieder ein Rumble Match was so richtig Feuer hatte. Es startete mit einer absoluten Dominanz von Lesnar, was ich zwar nicht umbedingt gebraucht hätte, da man hier viele Talente geburied hat, aber so eine Dominanz am Anfang gab es halt noch nie. Und die Elimination von Lesnar war dann auch perfekt. Zwar hatte dieser Rumble auch einige Schwachstellen, zbs. dass Riddle, Lee und Black so früh ausgeschieden sind, aber Insgesamt hat man alles gut gemacht. Und der Return von Edge war dann natürlich das absolute Highlight. Auch mit dem Sieger hat man wirklich alles richtig gemacht. ****1/4"

[3.0] "One of the worst Rumble matches I've seen. The last years I hoped for an expansion of the size due to the huge relevant roster. But every year they remind me why even a bigger Rumble won't change anything. And this time it was an extreme prove. It begins with the "dominance" of Brock Lesnar and in other words - the waste of amazing wrestlers. After once again they childishly justify a revenge low blow from the babyface, Drew as the favorite candidate for the Rumble for the past two years gets his big moment. I was waiting for Drew's big success in the WWE for a long time, but this isn't worth it. 10 years ago I was happy when my favorite wrestler returned in the Rumble, but now it's just an unnecessary expansion of the amazing career Edge had. The only big up for me is the focus on the build-up for Wrestlemania during the match."
[5.0] "The entire first half of the match was literal garbage and because I don't care at all about Drew Mcintyre, it never picked up. Edge returning was cool and there were a couple fun spots, but the match felt broken. It never really had time to hid 2nd gear because the entire first half of the match was devoted to Brock Lesnar and made nearly the entire midcard look like jokes. The exchanges between Edge & Orton and the final two created some good drama, at least."
[8.0] "Kann verstehen das die Lesnar Show und auch sicher die Darstellung von EDGE die Meinungen Auseinander gehen doch das Liegt dann im Auge des Betrachters bin nicht objektiv da iEdge einer meiner lieblingswrestler war/ist und die Lesnar Show hab ich einfach abgefeiert sowas hlgabs noch nie auch wenn man da viele Gute Worker komplett beerdigt hat. In meinen Augen war das einer der stärksten Rumble weil hier echt viele kleine Storys erzählt wurden Und es wurde entlich mal wieder ein Sieger gewählt mit dem man nicht gerechnet hat Deshalb vergebe ich für dieses Rumble Match 8 Punkte! [7.0] "I don't particularly like the winner, but I have to give credit for the match being well executed and designed to get one guy over. I think they succeeded even if its not a guy I really am interested in. The first half with Brock was fun although stretched a bit over long, Edge returning was spectacular, and the furthering of the Rollins storyline with various wrestlers was good. Not as good as the 2018 Rumble as far as recent ones go, but a good solid one regardless."

[5.0] "What a mess. Outside of Edge's return, I don't have much nice to say about this match. Brock eliminating everyone in the first half was ridiculous and stupid. I hear people saying it's realistic, but it's not. Why would you keep going at Brock one at a time after the first few? Run to the ring, immediately roll out, wait for the next participant, and rush him then. Braun looks like the biggest moron by going after Lee while Lesnar was still there. The rest of the match was alright, but I wouldn't say anything more than that."
[10.0] "First half of the Rumble was booked to absolute perfection. If you don't see that, you don't understand pro wrestling. Brock looked like the biggest beast in history and it led to the biggest pop in Drew McIntyre's career. The build is on to Brock/Drew at WrestleMania. Still can't believe Drew won. You know, I bet the total rating would be 2-3 points lower if Roman had won. lol"

Brock doing some can crushing was very entertaining, Edge during the 2nd part was great too except the camera shot for his 1st spear. Some cool moments, them comitting fully to Drew McIntyre was great. Without nitpicking I had a good time. (****)"
[10.0] "Manche meinen, es wäre mit Brock in der ersten Hälfte öde gewesen. Es war das beste Storytelling in einem Royal Rumble Match seit sehr langem. Keith Lees Debut, die Momente mit Keith Lee, Brock und Braun Strowman und wie am Ende Brock im Jubel perfekt rausgeworfen wurde - ganz großes Kino. Auch danach gab es eigentlich nur durchweg positives. Edges Debut, Rated RKO reunited und die Schlusssegmente, wo Seth Rollins richtig Heel Heat hatte. Die Art und Weise wie McIntyre gewonnen hat, die Final Four, Edge vs. Randy Orton - das alles war einfach perfekt. Hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht"

Die erste Hälfte war richtig öde und erst ganz zum Schluss kam etwas Royal Rumble Feeling auf, als mit Erscheinen der Nummer 30 dann auch mal 8 Leute gleichzeitig im Ring waren. Davor schwankte es immer so zwischen 2 bis maximal 6. Zumindest der Sieger war gut gewählt, rettet das Match aber auch nicht."

[9.0] "Absolutely brilliant Rumble, Brock looking dominant like a WWE champion should, Keith Lee going toe-to-toe with Brock and immediately makes him credible for the future, to Drew coming in and eliminating Brock only for him to constantly stare him down gave me goosebumps, Edge returning and making me cry like a little girl to Drew finally winning and get a championship match he so rightly deserves, fantastic rumble match."

It was quite innovative, but after Brock went down, the competition began to be more interesting! But when I heard "You think you know me", my whole body trembled! My youth is back! EDGE looks good!
