[10.0] "Holy christ, this match is nuts. This match was just so clean and smooth, while also being brutal and stiff at the same time. Tyler Bate, wow, the fact that this dude was putting on classics at such a young age is crazy. It's frustrating knowing how he is booked today, despite being better than A LOT of the current WWE main roster. The strikes both of these men did were amazing, and the punching sequence was amazing. Tyler Bate also did a brainbuster on Devlin and, honestly, it was one of the most brutal looking brainbusters I've ever seen. I'm feeling super generous, and this match was absolutely incredible. [3.0] "This match is 2017-core in the worst way. Tyler Bate can be quite impressive when he gets going - always been a lame character wrestler but has some decent stuff in the ring which made up the highlights in this bout. Dwarf Finn Balor, however, is a repulsive wrestler in more ways than one - truly one of the worst going and he was at his most egregious worst here. His insistence on an embarrassing Frye/Takayama spot with the floppy-handed punches in each one of his "epics" is appalling stuff. This probably wasn't as bad as his ultra beloved Starr bout in OTT, but it's pretty close."

Goosebumps. That's the magic of wrestling in a snapshot"

[10.0] "Their rivalry was nothing special and their match seemed more like an exhibition match than anything else and yet, Tyler Bate and Jordan Devlin delivered a pure classic like we like to see in NXT. This is easily one of the best matches in NXT UK's history and it's clearly not surprising considering the two wrestlers involved, the time they had and their place on the card. Triple H gave them the best possible conditions for them to achieve an exceptional match in the level of their talent, they seized this chance and delivered a true masterclass. This kind of match is just a demonstration of modern wrestling and the embodiment of why NXT has become so popular, between two of the brightest young stars of this business. The crowd loved it, Bate and Devlin loved it, Triple H and Regal loved it, I loved it, just how could anyone not love this match ? They achieved so much, always with a catchy rhythm and they always managing to innovate. Gigantic sequences and epic nearfalls, that's what I expected and I'm glad that this incredible contest met my expectations which were really high. Bate is just superhuman and one of the best wrestlers on the planet, his performance here is worthy of the big strong boi that we love so much, and look at this crowd ! He's so damn popular, the hero of the people ! Devlin also deserves credit, he did some great heel-work and is really a fascinating wrestler, this is his best match in WWE hands down. Amazing stuff all around, what a match."

[8.0] "Such a good mix of scrappiness and flashiness in this match, and managed to feel like these two were trying to best each other without devolving into spots for the sake of spots. I initially wasn? t that into this match truth be told, I don? t know if that has to do with the match or that I watched it late at night, but after about the five or so minute mark they had reeled me in. I do however dislike the boxing spot that people seemed to love in this one, it started out fiery with some stiff looking strikes from both men, but as they picked up the pace it devolved into weak-looking, sloppy slugs, which could? ve worked in their favor if it was to sell the exhaustion of both men, but alas they were selling them like they were normal strikes. Other than that there were some real highlights, with big spots coming out of nowhere keeping you on your toes for the entire match. Such a shame Devlin turned out to be such a piece of shit though, he had a bright future, but doesn? t deserve to work in this business anymore. ****-"

Enormous fight, by far the best of the show and for me the best match we had in NXT UK this year. ****1/4"

This includes everything I hold on to british wrestling standing for what it is mostly due to the ambiance ruling right there thanks to the fiire UK crowd always amazingly rocks it ! Devlin was a classic heel persona showing off to beat Tyler up and Bate of course has been able to recover and create an awesome usual performance ! The end was unbelievable namely Tyler executing the satellite DTT off the top turnbuckle diving toward Jordan then following up with his Tyler Driver ? 97 but Devlin kicked out we went all crazy ! The win came to Tyler with his twisting corkscrew splash after this banger ! The cheers from Hunter, Saint & Regal just proved how much these men put on the show stealing it and I? m so looking forward to seeing more of ? em mostly Tyler as a big fan of this man !"

[8.0] "A very 50/50 exhibition type of match with no real story or feud but that didn't matter because these two set out to have a great match and they succeeded. A slick start with some nice grapple exchanges and some brutal mid-section work on Bate by Devlin built nicely to the fast paced sequences and brutal spots. This didn't go into overkill either as everything they did flowed beautifully. Highlights were that Spanish Fly/Suplex combo and the stiff striking sequence. The best part though was the finishing stretch which was super hot with Bate getting the win and hopefully setting up a rematch with WALTER. Devlin proved himself here by showing he can work in an NXT ring and have a quality match when given the chance. Good stuff. ****1/4"

[9.0] "One of the slickest wrestling matches I? ve seen in a long time. Very few sequences in wrestling today encompass how great wrestling can be like the entire striking sequence, or the Spanish Fly/Devil Inside combo. The finish was very commonplace especially when compared to a lot of matches that take place today, but very few can do it as well as Devlin and Bate."

You knew this was gonna be the MOTN so I can't even call it a show-stealer; it was their show in the first place. Two of the brightest talents on the other side of the pond. With their constant improvement in storytelling and match structure, they can compliment their top-shelf wrestling ability with a match worth paying attention to; that's exactly what they just gave us."

[9.0] "Both these guys are incredible. Really great match, Bate was an awesome babyface as always, and Devlin continuing to impress with his heel work . Loved the story that was told, with Devlin being 100% ready for Bate, countering almost everything that was thrown at him. However, in the end, Bate was just too tough. Even though Devlin was able to kick out of a picturesque Tyler Driver, Bate quickly followed up with a top-rope corkscrew senton for the win. Great stuff. ****1/4"

[9.0] "Just an exhibition match as there was no real feud between the two but that didn't stop these guys from having an absolute banger. It was a total 50/50 match as Devlin got his first real opportunity to show how good he is in WWE and he nailed it. Devlin was great here playing heel and riling up the crowd which was pro-Bate. Bate was his usual self and the dude is clearly the MVP of the UK division. The match was great up really went up a notch after the slugfest between Bate and Devlin. It seems at the moment that WWE is building Bate back up for another crack at WALTER I totally wouldn't mind that. ****1/2"

Bate showed as usual a ridiculous amount of strength, while Devlin really delivered as the heel in the mach. I wasn't that of a fan of that finish, as it look like the splash didn't really connected, but that was just a minor issue for me. ****1/4"

LucaZV wrote on 13.01.2020:
[9.0] "As expected this came out as a great wrestling lesson. They were stilistically perfect, both of them. Technically this was awesome, with so many little gems on the mat and during the quickest transitions: I lost count of all the counters and reverses they proposed. There were also some high impact moments, like the vicious braibuster on Devlin in the middle of the ring. Furthermore, they played their story well, building on Devlin's frustation and Bate's strenghening confidence after the epic with Walter. The climax of the match was well crafted and the best thing is that I feel they didn't went all the stops and could have an even more epic encounter in the future. This is good shit, pal. ****1/2"

[8.0] "I haven't been following the feud at all, but based on the video package, this was billed as the meeting of the two young aces of the brand, and I gotta say the match played out exactly like that. Bate & Devlin had a nice little epic, which didn't go into the overkill mode, as almost everything seemed to fit into the story of the bout very nicely & naturally. Quality match."
Sebastian V wrote on 13.01.2020:

[4.0] "The MOTY hype for this match is pretty baffling tbh makes me kinda wonder if I saw the same match. The start is actually the best part I think Devlin dominating Bate is a good natural dynamic and they do it well, but once they get into the bomb throwing finishing stretch it just gets kinda bad. The Spanish fly spot where they slowly walk around the top turnbuckle to get into position was probably the worst offender, but they wouldn? t stop there- they did a somehow worse strike exchange than the Devlin-Starr match and then you? re like okay bring it home guys. Devlin kicks out of Bates finisher because uh no reason really and then Bate goes to the top for some sort of like extra twisty stardust press and completely misses him because of course he would and 123 our long national nightmare is finally over. Both guys are obviously really talented and have had some great matches in the past but this just wasn? t it unfortunately *3/4"

[7.0] "A few things held this back from being great, but it was definitely really good at the very least. It started with some very interesting and creative 50/50 grapple exchanges before Bate started to show off his impressive strength displays. Following that, Devlin asserted himself as the heel with some needless aggression and arrogance, all while hitting all his attacks with great impact. Bate showed good fire as he suffered through Devlin's dominance and fought back, though his 'quirky' spots (like the convoluted set-up for his knee in the corner, his feint-and-punch combo, and his long airplane spin) are still far too goofy and unrealistic for my liking. Luckily, every other part of his game continues to be strong, meaning I can overlook these more minor issues. What was jarring was that they transitioned into big-move trading territory basically out of nowhere. A lot of their exchanges at this point were quite creative and pretty good, with a few of them being very good, but the lack of proper build-up to this section of the match, plus the eventual overkill nature of all these run-on exchanges, made the second half feel a little hollow, even though it was still really good overall. There's definitely nothing majorly wrong with this match. Both guys looked very good and did enough to give a strong performance. I just wouldn't place this anywhere near my MOTY list. ***1/2"

There was tons of cool sequences in this match, some looked convoluted and unconvincing (the punching spot) but generally it was on point. It all flowed very well considering they did a ton. It? s very easy to get muddled and mess up but for the most part it was very smooth. Devlin almost necked himself of the Spanish flys though. Scary. Good match. ***1/2"
