[9.0] "Mercedes winning is the wrong choice, but with Jamie getting hurt it could've ended up badly if they went the other way. It's a great technical match, which Mercedes always exceeds in. I've been wanting to see these 2 meet in the ring for quite a bit now, and this certainly what I wanted."
[10.0] "This was a great banger to open the Pay Per View Double Or Nothing. Mercedes was amazing and starts to convince me, with how they did her here honestly makes her more convincing to me and less like a Hogan, because I'll give her credit she can make amazing matches and not burying everyone completely at least what I saw here, then Jamie Hayter, she took it all like a champion and gave more, a great psychology in ring they had and being this the longest women's match on AEW, I have a feeling that this can be one of the Women's Matches of the year, not like Mariah May vs Toni Storm. But it got great match. 10/10 [*****]"
[9.0] "Mercedes Mone and Jaime Hayter put on an absolute treasure of a match. Good spots, very heavy looking bumps, and great momentum between the two. Mercedes often gets labeled as better at character work than in-ring work, but I think matches like this really show how inaccurate that sentiment is. Her technical ability, particularly with grapples and submissions, deserves more praise than it gets. The way she does the Statement Maker and will often kick off the ropes and re-apply the hold as soon as her opponent is close to a rope break shows how good she is at keeping the pressure on her opponents. Another go-to spot for Mercedes is the Three Amigos, she does it a lot and each time it's executed well and gets the crowd going. Lastly, her Knee Drops look devastating each time she does it. There's one in this match where she Knee Drops Hayter from the ring apron to the floor and the impact was brutal. Jaime Hayter's no slouch either; this match really showcased her endurance and power. Hayter delivered a devastating thrust kick and lariat after a tense exchange, her lariat for a near fall was also awesome, and her constant reversals and grappling of Mercedes demonstrated the power differential between the two. I wasn't watching AEW back when Hayter was World Champ, but I see the hype behind her and she could easily be World Champ again whenever the time is right. She's got a great look and presence, heavy hands and lariats, and she's massively over. My only complaint for the match is that I thought the finish could've been more explosive. Both near falls and a near submission ending had me on the edge of my seat, but the actual finish was kinda quick and meh for me personally. It doesn't ruin the match of course, and I'd like to see these two face each other again."
[3.0] "a dream match that didn't totally live up to the hype and kind of dragged the show down in the middle. mercedes and jamie would both go on to have better matches. the outcome here though should have been hayter with the title and mone on the chase going forward."
[7.0] "This is a great opener with perfect pacing and storytelling and the correct outcome, even if I also think Hayter had a build that could've justified her win. What holds this back is just some general hesitance (lots of weak close range strikes, mostly) and clumsiness (stair slipping) from Hayter. In a way, though, even that kind of works into the narrative of the fact that Hayter is fighting back from a long injury and Mone has, that entire time Hayer was out, has established herself as one of the very best in the world. Every power spot and narrative beat works here, it just doesn't have the polish to get it to an all-timer. Hayter's counter into the choke was an incredible hope spot that I wish had gone on a bit longer just to really convince the audience she might end Mone's streak."
[8.0] "Great PPV opener, Moné brilliantly works Hayter's back for the majority of this to prevent Hayter from hitting her typical power moves. A couple fantastic nearfalls here with the Hayter comeback after the submission attempt being a particular highlight."
[8.0] "A strong opener for the show. This was performed very slightly under my expectations, but I still really enjoyed it. Moné winning makes sense, and I'm glad Hayter was still presented as well as she was in defeat. Moné has really been doing wonders for the Women's Division in AEW."
[6.0] "I do find the performance from Mercedes very good here, specially her limb work on the back of Jamie, there's a meanness and pettiness to her work, however I can't say the exact same for Jamie Hayer, while she isn't all that bad, quite far from it, she brings the match down by her lack of selling her worked limb, it's something that if done correctly would have made her later comebacks feel much more important and impactful."
[5.0] "This was the best match by Mercedes Mone that I have seen since I started following wrestling again this year (I didn't see her match against Athena). That being said, this was too long, had one too many spots where the Jamie Hayter just left herself open for Mone to attack, and the selling from both women (especially Mone) sucked or just wasn't there. Also there was a lot of reckless shots in here. I mean that finish WTF."
[9.0] "Beast of the match and looking back, this is as good as i originally thought when i saw it. The fast sequences, the crowd, the atmosphere, the counters were all perfect. Mercedes is just the goat and i hope Jamie Finally wins the title again in the future"
[5.0] "The match was ok, nothing special in my opinion (I don't understand all these 9 and 10...? ). Personally I'm tired of seeing Mercedes Mone winning, she doesn't seem better than her opponents but she still win every time and that's "meh". Anyway, not an horrible match either."
[9.0] "It was great match but i'm not a fan of Hayter performance here - idk why but i mostly just didn't like it. Mercedes was great and i love she picked up a win - that roll up was NASTY. ****, 25"
[9.0] "This was a Great between Mercedes and Jamie Hayter. Mercedes work the Back and I love how Jamiensold it for majority of this match this match was Dynamic and Hard hitting and I love Mercedes counte/block in this match this was great ****.25"
[9.0] "Just pure class from both women and a perfect PPV opener, Mercedes showing once again why she is the best north American female wrestler of all time putting on another classic here and Jaime showing she still has the bangers in her locker what a way to open the show it was, Great story focusing on Mercedes working Jamie's back throughout out the match to try and stop her power advantage with lots of backstabbers and suplexs. Spot of the match was definitely the Meteora whilst Jamie was hanging of the side of the ring. A great part was where Mercedes had Cleary scouted her opponent and had most of the ways to counter the hayteraid throughout the match. The finish was great with with Jamie taking the roll up/ hammerlock DDT from Mercedes out of no where on the top of her head was brilliant and finished off a stiff match perfectly. Now we have the money match at all in Storm vs Mone it has to main event the women deserve something for the level of matches they have had over the last year. (****3/4)"
[10.0] "Maybe it's because these are two of my favorite woman wrestlers ever, but I thought this match was just a masterpiece. I was really hoping for Jamie to win and the near-falls got me good. Plus Mercedes is just so damn smooth in the ring. I really hope they run this back someday."
[6.0] "While I wasn't blown away by this effort, I would love to see another match between these women because I know they can put on a better match than this. Sometimes a match loses you. This one lost me early and I struggled to get back into it. Definitely thought there were some great sequences though and think that both women are near the best women's wrestlers in America."
[6.0] "Mercedes' PPV matches just don't feel right to me. Maybe it's because I've seen her rehearse matches and talk about it that the stop-and-start motions of her sequences instantly break my immersion. Not to the same degree, but it's the same problem people have with Logan. It just feels like a performance at that point of not something that's called on the fly. The bumps, strikes and counters were all great but my full immersion wasn't."
[8.0] "Easily Mone's best PPV match this year despite some of her classic clumsy stuff. Really great match and both put on solid performances. Despite the outcome being obvious, there were times where you really thought it might go the other way."
"A wonderful match! CEO is excellent, and Jamie Hayter is pale in comparison. After all, I think that AEW's PPV is totally great value for money, not like E."
[8.0] "This was a very good match Both women did amazing and i really like how Jamie Hayter sell her back the whole match and not just forgetting about it and Mercedes Mone did a really good job here too and its pretty badass how she has all those tittles with the Owen Hart cup this was a awesome way to end the woman's side of the tournament rest in peace Owen we miss you."
[8.0] "This match came slowly at the start. The climax was there when Jaymie gave Mercedes a Piledriver finisher, but surprisingly it didn't count to 3. I love Mercedes' block/counter to the Hayterade, which she did 3 times, and after that piledriver, Jaymie was about to do a Hayterade to Mercedes again, but Mercedes counters again and pins Jaymie, I guess, with a DDT combination; that's what the speaker says. An absolutely flawless pin for Mercedes showcases her creativity. Mercedes, big W for her."
[9.0] "When you put 2 of the best women's wrestlers on planet for a match, you got a Match of The Year Contender! Although I was rooting for Jamie, I can deny that Mercedes deserves this spot too (and hold Jamie's victory for London! ). (****1/2)."
[10.0] "I thought this was an incredible match, I loved how hard hitting it was and this is easily the best Jamie has looked since the injury. Plenty of counters and as always I love Mercedes working a body part in this case Jamie's back with countless submissions and numerous backstabbers. Jamie countered with her power some great near falls including the tombstone piledriver spot with Mercedes selling it like she did versus Mayu and I loved the finish with the float over DDT cradle pin."
[5.0] "Not a horrible match but far too long without enough happening, it became repetitive. On the plus side, the crowd was feeling it, but I wasn't. It's just not a standout match for a PPV of this magnitude, incredibly forgettable for a nearly 20 minute runtime, cut it a bit shorter and there's more of an argument. I'm actually not disappointed with the outcome however, I think Mone deserved this win, and she took it."
[8.0] "Big fight feeling for this matchup. Lots of taunting each other to start. 50/50 "Jamie Hayter" - "CEO" chants break out that are pretty loud. Mone gets in some decent mat wrestling and pinning attempts at the beginning of this match. Hayter also gets in some mat work too, locking in a nice single leg crab that had Mone down for a moment. Mone hits a meteora onto Hayter directly onto the floor onto her head. Mone then mocks Hayter by holding her back like she was in pain to reference her back injury she once had. Mone just abuses Hayter with multiple submission moves at one point during this match. Hayter finally gains some momentum and gets off the mat. Hayter hits a big missile dropkick and a meteora on Mone but Mone gets the upper hand back by hitting a 3 Amigos on Hayter. Hayter hits a super plex on Mone but doesn't release and bridges and attempts to suplex Mone again but Mone hits a brutal backstabber onto Hayter. Hayter then hits a disgusting thrust kick that looks so stiff it's insane. I really thought for a moment that it actually connected and Mone was going to have a concussion. Mone then hits a disgusting knee shot to Hayter who then hits a big lariat on Mone and both women are down. What a great sequence. Both competitors fight on the outside for a bit. Mone hits 3 backstabbers in a row and then locks in a Statement Maker on Hayter. Hayter escapes and relentlessly headbutts Mone over and over again. Mone hits a nasty sit down senton on Hayter for 2. Mone goes to bridge a roll up pin and Hayter snatches up Mone and locks in a sleeper hold while they are laying down in the center of the ring. The hold looks very well done and the tenacity of Jamie Hayter really shows here. The crowd gets on their feet for the Hayter sleeper hold. Mone gets out. Mone is able to lock in the Statement Maker again but this time in the center of the ring. Hayter crawls for the ropes and is inches away but Mone rolls backwards to no avail as Hayter lifts up Mone and gets out of the hold. Hayter lifts up Mone for a driver and then hits a big lariat for a huge near fall. People are on their feet for this moment. Hayter is able to reverse one of Mone's moves into a Tombstone Piledriver for a 2 count. Another massive near fall in this match. Hayter attempts Hayterade and Mone reverses and absolutely spikes Hayter's head into the mat and rolls her up for a 3 count. Mercedes Mone wins the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament."
[8.0] "A beautiful opener with some good moves and some good counters. A thrilling crowd. There were quite a few sequences worth watching, especially in the final minutes of the match. (4*)"
[8.0] "An immense PPV opener that captures so many of Mercedes' greatest strengths, pairing a noticeable focus with classical pacing and structure. Admittedly, the latter gets slightly lost as they near a finish, but this is packed with quality, as Hayter's thudding offence pairs perfectly alongside Mone's crash course bumping. The finish is unusually violent too, with a happy accident giving Mone's triumph some extra punch. That's fitting, as this sports a rough edge or two throughout, gradually taking shape along the way. They do get a touch cute at times, but it's a terrific first meeting nonetheless, one armed with palpable drama. ****"
[9.0] "The Match was really good. In ring quality and storytelling was top notch but the winner was not rightfully chosen. Mercedes Mone is really good and a big star but this feels like Jamie Hayter story. This leaves question for what's next for Woman's Division heading into All In? That's the story for another day"
[7.0] "****1/4 a very good match, very good chemistry, some great sequences, great rhythm, some very goods kick-outs, mainly Moné's to Hayter's Lariat, and a great ending, with Hayter being close to winning looking for the definitive Lariat, but Moné reversed it in a small package DDT that looked brutal because of the way she hit Hayter's head with the ring, although I'm not a fan of the result, since I feel it's too much for Moné, an undefeated streak in 1 vs 1 in AEW, multi-champion and now the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament and going for the world title at All In"
[8.0] "After a weird start where it looked as if neither of them knew what they were going for, the match picked up big time following a couple of nasty meteoras by Mercedes. She, then, began to work on Jamie's back which resulted in her using the back stabber quite a few times. Jamie had to fight from underneath and she had some great hope spots. The two showed some great chemistry and their offense looked great. The tombstone by Jamie was sick and the build-up to the ushigoroshi spot was egregious. In the end Mercedes countered the hayterade (whom she was hit it on Dynamite after weeks of having avoided it) and won with one of the best roll-up finishes I've seen in a long time. I really wanted Jamie to win (as she would've been the perfect challenger for Toni given their history) and this is a case of the result hurting a match, even if slightly (because I can understand that Toni vs. Mercedes is the biggest match you can run atm). ****1/4"
[9.0] "Great opener here, hard hitting and well worked. Hayter was going for broke here at times, some tremendous hits. I can't claim I am 100% on the Mone train, so to speak, but she does keep stepping up to the plate when it matters and rises to the level of her challengers."
[9.0] "Whilst it felt inevitable that Mone would make it to All In to face Storm, this match made me question it every step of the way. Well fought, brutal, and no one ever looks weak. Women's wrestling in AEW just keeps getting better and better."
[9.0] "Great addition to Mercedes' spectacular undefeated run in AEW. Beautifully paced with fantastic in-ring work and some really hard-hitting moments and astonishing sequences, and - despite a well-worked win from Mercedes - Jamie comes out looking as strong as ever, and particularly impressive on a technical level. Couldn't ask more from an opener."
[9.0] "Mercedes is the most creative female wrestler of all time. That roll-up DDT (? ) was insane. The buildup to the match was pretty good, with some nice promo work by both. I'm very curious to see how things will play out at All In. My guess is Mercedes starts to lose her titles one by one before the aforementioned PLE, losing herself in the process, and then goes on a redemption arc and wins the big one from Toni. Shoutout to Jamie too; she did great, and unlike some people, I don't think she's buried. This match made her look like a million bucks. The match would be perceived better had the finish been Jamie passing out from a Statement Maker, though. 9.5/10."
[8.0] "Strong opener. It has a good sense of progression with a building block of technical wrestling starting the match off before it got more high risk and bold with its spots like a tombstone reversal spot that failed in the Athena match but worked a treat here. ***3/4"
[8.0] "Very good match, the tension and suspense rise crescendo during the match, maybe a few misunderstandings at two or three moments but nothing serious, the finish is a bit surprising. I enjoyed it but was expecting a little more, like the level of the match with Athena. I would have loved to see Jamie win and Mercedes face Athena again, I think it's a mistake but we'll see, we'll definitely have a great match with Storm."
[9.0] "Loved how hard hitting this match was, there was a sense of urgency between both women where you could tell both really wanted to win the tournament. I know people don't like Mercedes winning booking but she's made every woman still look strong in the process. Jamie really needed this match as I've personally felt she's been stale ever since she returned."
[9.0] "The weakest parts of this bout were the beginning which was slow and the finish which was anticlimatic but all the sequences and false finishes in the middle were great. In some moments I even thought that Hayter could win which was certainly hard. ****1/2"
[9.0] "This match did a really good job establishing Hayter as a real threat. Hopefully this is continued coming out of the Owen and bringing her back to where she should be. Similar to big Mercedes matches they try very hard and as a result become a little sloppy. Very enjoyable and looking forward to where this leads."
[8.0] "Overall it should be 9 or even 10 and from a ring work perspective it was 2nd or 3rd best women match in AEW this year. But I need something more than just a match quality. Those things are right winner and right story coming from it and I believe Mercedes winning was just too predictable and it leaves Hayter with literally nothing to do now. Storm and Hayter would be brilliant redemption story, and Athena showing up to screw Mercedes would give us another banger at ALL IN with these 2 rematch. So I really dont like the outcome here. Also, Mercedes winning clean? She's a heel..."
[10.0] "Strong, physical, and emotionally charged. Jamie Hayter looked great in her return, but this was Mercedes Moné's night from start to finish. Her confidence, pacing, and control of the ring were unmatched. Every move she made felt calculated, crisp, and meaningful. The chemistry between the two built steadily, with stiff exchanges and some clever counters. The clean finish solidified Mercedes as the face of AEW's women's division -- and honestly, it's time to go all in on her (no pun intended). If AEW is serious about elevating women's wrestling, then Mercedes Moné vs. Toni Storm should main event All In 2025. With the right build, that match could become the biggest moment in the history of women's wrestling -- not just in AEW, but anywhere. Moné brings star power, legacy, and in-ring excellence. This match proved once again that when she's in the spotlight, the division shines with her."
[9.0] "Great opener. High intensity back and forth with some excellent near falls and a decent enough story to latch onto. Mercedes is on top of the world, Jamie Hayter has been trying to mount a comeback for a while to no avail. This was her big opportunity and right as she was about to win it Mercedes clawed the victory away. It didn't feel undeserved on Mercedes part and made you really feel for Hayter. Great way to start a show! 88 out of 100. My only criticisms are that the opening was a touch slow and maybe the offense could have been a hair less 50/50 and leaned more in Hayter's favor just to add to the sting of that finish. It is also not particularly complex but this honestly works to the matches benefit as everything was executed absolutely beautifully apart from that slight slip on the stair which was at least recovered from smoothly. Very well done!"
[9.0] "Fantastic opening match in all honesty. I'm just getting back into wrestling after a long time of periodic watching, and I guess Jamie was out injured for a long time? This sucks because, legitimately, Jaime was by far my favorite thing about the AEW women's division in the 2022-23. It seems she's kind of floundered a tad upon first returning, but has started to pick up steam as she's gotten into her groove. The reality is, Jaime is a remarkable technical wrestler, and in this match in particular I thought she was really able to showcase this on top of her usual hard hitting stuff. I do miss thick Jaime (she still looks amazing, but she definitely looks like she's lost about 10-20 lbs since 2022, she looks amazing regardless though), I think in general she looks a bit better when she's heavier a bit and it compliments her hard hitting style. But that being said, even at a lighter weight she still looks quite strong even for a female wrestler (not quite Rhea Ripley, but I actually do think they have similar builds) and Jaime hasn't lost a step, she still was able to showcase her hard hitting style, but also I think a more technical side. Sasha, for her part, looked as good as ever. She's always going to thrive in any circumstance where she can play the cocky, bitchy heel, bratty, elusive when you're trying to catch her, and dominant when she's on top. That's basically how she was in a nutshell here, Sasha at her best. I also think that since Jaime isn't quite the physically imposing girl she was before getting injured, it made sense for Mercedes to not only be outfoxing her but also sometimes overpowering her and playing a more dominant force in certain moments (makes sense for the story, Sasha will definitely do that if she can). That being said, this was a great technical and hard hitting display of female wrestling, and I think it actually goes to show that Jaime still can be a devastating force even if she's not as physically imposing. It was actually a great match, and I also think Sasha shined a lot here, really targeting Jaime's injured back and going for submissions, it was very solid work. And Sasha finally manages to outfox Jaime at the end, and somewhat snatch the win away, though still a solid win. Awesome way to kick off a show honestly, and yeah Jaime is really starting to find her step again, this match was proof of that. ****1/2"
[10.0] "Beauty Queen Vs CE Goat. Their match was the thorn in the mother of storytelling. Truly a work of art in AEW history. CE Goat works his unique heelwork on the back of a powerhouse to knock him down nicely and what could be better than taking the match with a roll-up? He really proved himself to be a goth once again. Jimmy Hayter was amazing. A great powerhouse and a powerful babyface whose mental plans for creating a storytelling process were great, especially where he suddenly dropped the shotgun or his finishing moves. Overall, this match was great."
[8.0] "Very strong opener ! I thought at multiple moments that Jamie Hayter would win, but those nearfalls were absolutely perfect everytime. What a good combination between these two. I don't think that DDT during the roll up was intended though. It could have ended very very bad for Hayter."
[8.0] "A good match to close this tournament even if I ultimately maintain that Mone should have played the final against Athena because there was more at stake and it was a better match, the public was divided and I'm waiting for the Mone Storm match which is going to be good."
[9.0] "Heck of an opener that set the tone for one of the best PPVs in memory. For all the online hate she gets, Mone continuously proves that she consistently produces some of the best wrestling matches in the world. Hayter was a worthy dance partner, doing a great job of selling the back. Awesome."
